Liverpool Day Tour from London by Train including Beatles Story

For the true fans!

Husband is a huge Beatles fan so we wouldn’t miss this, but overall it was stressful and confusing. The Viator app would not allow me to access the tickets for the guided tour and the museum entrance, kept telling me to check email, email would link me back to the app. Had to message the tour and wait for reply. No directions for how to locate the first part of the tour, but locals were helpful to point us in the right direction. Glad we did this but hard trying to figure it all out

A great experience! Tour guide was a lot of fun and very informative. We especially loved the Cavern Club!

Hard days night.

Worth visit-in,just put on the provided head phones and look for the numbers on the exhibits and walk around at your pace. The magical mystery bus.,the tour around the town, see where the Fab Four grew up and where they lived. My only complaint is it’s assumed that your phones GPS will help you get from the train station to the exhibit. Even though we had purchased a SIM card for our phones GPS did not work, signage is poor out of the station and really is a 20 minute plus minute walk ,( I do not advise if you have difficulty walking)..we where very fortunate a professor from the museum asked if we were lost and kindly walked with us through the town to direct us to the Beatles exhibit.Also there is no assistance from the tour company ( which is explained in the purchase of the tickets) so make sure you check into all details prior to the visit. The Train was easy and before you board look at the electronic overhead boards for current times and which platform and gate you need to go to. Your seats are very easy to find ,each carriage is lettered and once you are on board you can find your seat number, our train did have a food car, “Time for tea”.

Nostalgic, informative and fun.

Magical Mystery Tour was excellent, enjoyed visiting the homes where each of the Beatles lived. Tony was very knowledgeable and funny and Dave did a great job maneuvering the bus around Liverpool.

Excellent tour. Guide Neil and driver Steve were knowledgeable and fun. If you want to do a Beatles immersion tour this is it.

Warning on Train Services near Christmas

The tour started off pretty well and the instructions were easy to follow. The experience was great however, we did not realize that booking near Christmas day in the UK means that train services are at risk being cancelled. Our scheduled train back to London was cancelled last minute and we had to go through alternative routes and gave up our reserved seats. This was our first time in the Country and we’re not familiar with the situation and would be helpful if first timers can be warned beforehand.

Dream Day On The Magical Mystery Tour

I am 74 and Male from Toronto. The entire day was Dreamlike for me. From the Beatles Story, the Bronze statues on the Dock with the highlight being the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour bus Ride. The young man that narrated the trip was Outstanding and the whole tour was Amazing. The singalongs were a dream come true. A day I will always remember.

A day in the life (of the Beatles)

I loved it all! Just being where the Beatles lived and began was thrilling for me. I’ve wanted to come to Liverpool since I was 10 (60 years ago).

We had a fantastic time...

We had a fantastic time on this tour. Transportation was super easy and straightforward, with trains to and from Liverpool arranged by the tour. The morning was spent at the Beatles Story Museum which was awesome; and the afternoon Magical Mystery Tour was equally so. We also had some spare time in between the two to get lunch, and in the evening before our train back to do another activity (we went to the Liverpool Cathedral but there are a few options of additional activities). Highly recommend this tour!

A must for any Beatles fan

Seeing all the childhood homes and haunts of The Beatles, the places where fate intervened and they met for the first time and the places that inspired their music was a total thrill and an experience every true Beatles fan must have.

Rubbish

I could not go on this tour, even though I had paid for it. I could not download the tickets. I rang the tour provider in London and they told me to contact viator. I sent an email and explained I could not download the tickets and they just sent me the same things again. This meant I did not have the tickets and no one would help me so I lost my money I paid for the trip I could not attend.

Huge Beatle fan

The Magical mystery bus tour was very good. The tour guide was fun and informative. I would have liked to go into Strawberry Fields to see the white piano (John Lennon) that was on display. Was also hoping to see Elenor Rigby grave. The Beatles museum was sparse of Beatle memorabilia (clothes they wore etc) a lot of it was replicas.

Liverpool is beautiful!

Tony on the Magical Mystery Tour Bus was great, he obviously loves his (relatively new) job showing his love for The Beatles and his beautiful hometown Liverpool, and he and Alan gave us a great day. Tony has a great voice and comic timing for his role, but the bus's microphone for him to use is dodgy, and needs replacement!

Every owe for themselves

The emails could have been a little clearer. I hurt my leg the day before. I was alone. They didn’t help my figure out how to get to the dock. They don’t care. They got their money.

Fun Day for Beatle Fans

My husband is a Beatle fan and really enjoyed the trip. The museum was very well done. The Magical Mystery Tour bus was fun and entertaining. Guide was very good. When you get off train in Liverpool it is a tad confusing finding the museum. We asked a couple times to get headed in right direction. Huge shopping complex and places to eat before you hop back on train to London. Very fun day.

Magical Tour for Beatles Fans

Amazing trip. Rail passage, Beatles museum (simply a wow experience) and a 2 hour Beatles bus tour (loved the sing along). Simply amazing and a great value.

Stressful day in Liverpool that we managed to sort out on our own

Loved the Magical Mystery tour! The logistics involving this excursion left plenty to be desired. We were given only one return train ticket for 2 adults. We had to call 3 times and go to the train station to resolve the issue. Upon arriving in Liverpool at 10:30 am we had to reschedule our 11:00 Magical mystery tour to a later time. We could not resolve the transportation to make the first tour in time. They were scheduled too close together. This could all be done in a more customer friendly way.

A Day in the Life of the Fab Four

Train from London to Liverpool was excellent. Very quiet, comfortable and fast. Beatles Story was not great…very disorganized staff. Self-guided but needed more explanation. Unable to listen and read at the same time and exhibits were not great. Would skip this! Magical Mystery Tour Bus and guide, Dale, were excellent!! Made four stops for photos; best part was seeing the fab fours childhood homes and learning about their personal lives. Cavern Club at the end was kind of a tourist trap, however, and we didn’t stay long.

Better Instructions on traveling to Liverpool

The Beatles Story, The Magical Mystery Bus Tour were both wonderful. I enjoyed the tour, our tour guide was informative, fun to be with and gave a great tour. My negative comment is there are no clear instructions when you were leaving from London to get to Liverpool. The email said to meet at a meeting point in the London train station, yet there was nobody there to meet you. And when you get to Liverpool, there are no instructions as to where you are to meet up with the group. When I called the tour, and explained what was going on, the woman on the other line hung up on me. If it wasn’t for the people at the Liverpool train station, who suggested where I should go, I would have been left completely in the dark in a strange city. I found it extremely stressful traveling from London to Liverpool especially being a first time, solo traveler.

Great tour!

Enjoyed the museum the most. Really great to see all the memorabilia and hear the stories. The tour around town to see sights was also good.

Cavern club and all the locations!

What a day! The tour was expertly organized and the instructions clear regarding the train and locations. Our guide for the Mystery bus was fantastic - Charlie! We saw all the sights and learned so much.

A Day in Liverpool and Beatles Experience

We had a great trip to Liverpool! Everything was so well organized! Our RT train tickets, Liverpool map, tickets for The Beatles Story and Magicsl Mystery Tour were emailed well in advance. The museum was great! We had individual audio and earphones to go along at our own pace. The Magicsl Mystery Tour was 2 hours full of fun, information and singalongs. I learned so much! Our tour guide Dale was the best!! So interesting and informative! I would highly recommend this one day trip!!!

Fun Times

Seeing The Cavern Club. We enjoyed the Beatles Story too. The Magical Mystery Tour was also interesting. It was somewhat disappointing that the tour guide would show or tell us sites after we passed them!

Great tour for Beatles fans

It was a very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend it for every Beatles fan. However, communication from the Viator company was not good. It didn’t have enough detail including the time for the Magical Mystery Tour. I hope they will improve this. I’ve been wanting to go to Liverpool and glad I had the chance.

Great trip with a few blips

This is the 3rd time I have done this tour. It is a great tour, but had a lot of trouble getting the tickets for train and tour at the last minute. Just have to stay on top of things, but had great communication with Viator. Definitely recommend.

Beatles Rail Day Trip needs a little Help!

This is a wonderful tour and the guides on the bus tour were outstanding. But the pre-tour directions from Viator and the vendor contradicted each other. Also, the directions on how to walk from the train station to the museum were not clear. I would have given this tour 5 stars without these issues.

The Beatles Story and magical Mystery Bus Tour were very interesting and informative. Tour guide J was very knowledgeable and personable.

The only really enjoyable...

The only really enjoyable part was the Magical Mystery bus tour. It was not worth the long train ride from London. The Beatles Story was disappointing.

To see where your musical hero’s came from….amazing day. The museum…the magical mystery tour….and finishing at the Cavern. Dave the tour guide was fantastic…funny….and a whole bus load of people singing the Beatles classic.

Great trip from London to Liverpool & Back

Magical Mystery Tour Bus trip and the host was extremely knowledgeable about the Beatles. It was easy to navigate the train ride and we were able to find the Beatles statues and Cavern Club and Beatles Story, all excellent venues.

Great Tour to Liverpool

The Magical Mystery Tour was great. Our guide Dale was great. Liverpool is a great city to visit. We enjoyed everything about this tour including the free time to explore. The train from London to Liverpool was a comfortable ride We definitely highly recommend this tour

Totally disorganized! You could do much better for less money on your own

This was one of the most disorganized tours I have ever been on. The operators were hard to get in touch with, and did not give good directions for meeting points or anything. in fact, I missed the first train and the ticket master at the train station in. London was nice enough to let me go on the next one. I would not recommend this to anyone. You could book a train ride on your own up to Liverpool and do everything for much cheaper yourself and on your own schedule.

Magical Mystery Tour

Dale the tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the bus tour. I am an avid Beatles fan and he told me things that I didn’t know. I would highly recommend this tour. FANTASTIC experience.

Great tour

Magical Mystery Bus tour was cool and fun. Liverpool is a great, but underrated destination! Beatles story was well done, and a visit to The Cavern was way too cool.

Perfect for any Beatles fan

A seamless and hassle experience that made for such a fun outing. As a lifelong Beatles fan this was a great orientation to the place that shared their lives. The magical mystery bus helped get us around Liverpool, if not for the tour I don’t know how else I would’ve gotten between. I wish I had spent more time in Liverpool and so the day trip, while a long day, should be for those who don’t mind a rushed experience through town and have limited time. Experiencing the cavern club, Beatles story, and seeing penny lane were bucket list items for me.

This is a great tour for Beatles fans..seeing where the boys grew up and where they played was really special. The Cavern Club was my favorite part by far.

A total fab flop

Do not book this! The vendor did not send the information as they should have and viator would not issue a refund. Horrible customer service on this one.

A real Magical Mystery tour.

Our Magical Mystery Tour guide ( forgot his name, but his son, Jude, was with us), so Jude's dad, was excellent. He added personal magic, and was quite entertaining. We boarded the bus to the song Magical Mystery Tour, and then traveled down Penny Lane with the song playing. The Beatles Story was better than I expected, and I think it was done very well. My time in Liverpool was great!

The tour operator was terrible. The venues visited were good.

I was very disappointed in the service provided compared to the price I paid. I from the USA, and not familiar with Liverpool or London. I paid $800+ and thinking there would be people to provide guidance in support at the train station (both departing and arriving). We did not know where to go after departing the train at the stayed destination. The map provided was much to small for engine to see, much less read. This excursion got off to a very round and disappointing start. I found the attractions to be interesting and worthwhile. I strongly believe that a partial refund for the extremely poor service is in order.
