Changing of the Guard Walking Tour Experience

Must do while visiting London!

I loved getting so much history and information throughout the tour while watching the changing of the guards ceremony. It was beautifully done! 10/10 recommend.

False advertising

Nice enough tour guide, but we got nowhere near the palace. We watched the soldiers march pass by on the street about a block away. Half the group left when we realized, but they probably didn't get a glimpse either because it was so late. The rest of the tour was dull. False advertising, the "experience" wasn't worth much. Just get up early and go on your own.

Great tour

Natalie brilliant guide. Full of anecdotes and great information. Best spots to view. Really enjoyable morning

Disappointment, not Viator's Fault

There were no exciting parts of this tour. The military cancelled the event on the 2 days that we had available to take the tour. I hope that we're not charged for a tour that we did not take.

We Even Saw the King!

What a great experience on this tour, we even spotted the king! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of where to be when and I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to be in the know about what’s going on. So much of the excitement is not actually at the palace and we would’ve never known without our guide!

Unbelievable

Flora the guide was amazing. Kept everyone listening and waited for us who loved a little slower than the others. Highlights—- we saw the King!! He was leaving his residence and we got to see him. Unbelievable! And then we were outside the barracks and we saw Prince Edward arrive. Was a very special day!!!

A memorable experience in London

My family and I were pleased with the service provided. The tour guide assigned was very professional and able to highlight and lead us to the best viewing points for the changing guard ceremony. He even shared with us some background information about the locations so that we could connect better. Not rush and the pace was appropriate. We won’t be able to witness the ceremony without a guide. Highly recommended!

Tour made changing of the guard less overwhelming, recommended!

I knew we'd be overwhelmed with how many people visit the changing of the guard, so booking this tour was great. Guide was informative and brought us to several different locations to take pictures of the old guard leaving and the new guard coming in. Had many good stories to tell and took photos of us when asked. Pleasant fellow. Got great pics and didn't get lost in the crowds which are huge! Unless you specifically want pics of guard in front of the palace gates, I would recommend this tour to others.

Very good tour. Well worth the price we paid!

Although the changing of the guard did not take place, the changing of the horse guard did. Our guide Louise took us to a perfect place to take photos. She was very good and gave us lots of information.

Excellent tour to catch all the action

Natalie was amusing and full of information, both directly and indirectly related to the event. They have an excellent system worked out where you get unobstructed views at several points in the "presentation". We would never have known where to go and when to be there on our own!

Waste

Nothing memorable. No connection and no response. It’s seems to be a tourist trap.not worth wasting time

Recommend

Meet up point was easy to find. Our tour guide, Paul, was engaging and informative. We were led to great vantage points that you wouldn't know about without a guide. Be prepared to walk fast and a little distance. Great experience! One of my favorite things we did while in London!

Did not see and guard changing at all-- misleading and a waste time and money

Not recommended. Misleading and costly. Did not see anything. All walks but no changing of guards at all. A waste of time and money. In the end, we did not see any change of guards at all. Don't take this one.

Fantastic tour

Lee is one of the best tour guides! Very knowledgeable, very engaging and entertaining, a pleasure to follow his tour! At the busiest time he know just the best place for photos. We have booked another tour the next day with him to Windsor and it was awesome as well! Highly recommended!

Changing of the Guard was well worth the tour

We had the most fantastic time. Not only did we get all the ins and outs of the Changing of the Guard but along the way we got so much historical information and stories. Katrina was fantastic.

Excellent Tour!

We had a great time. Our guide was so knowledgeable and knew exactly where we should be and when to see the guards a number of times.

Refund please

Honestly not very happy with the communication. Had my reservation changed due to a soccer final match. When I asked for a date change I was then offered a new date of Sunday then canceled again. After asking for a refund I was booked a different tour with only 15 min notice. Honestly not great and would like a refund

Excellent activity in London

This was a fabulous tour. Our guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Without a guide it would be very difficult to understand what was happening. We learned so much about this event.

Tour guide Paul provided a wonderful experience for the family!

Our guide Paul was outstanding! He was knowledgeable, organized, and fun. He shared a complete history of the Changing of the Guard and St. James Park and the surrounding buildings – mixed with an eclectic mix of related British history. We threw some oddball questions at him, which he had ready answers to. This is the second time I’ve taken the tour and enjoyed it each time (but Paul’s tour was the best of the two!).

Excellent guide knew best locations walk to. Knew when the king and queen might be leaving their residence And they Passed 10 ft away!!

We saw the King and Camilla!!!tour guide Mary was great. Got us to locations to see multiple pageantries. So glad we went with this instead of trying to do it on our own

Well worth it

This was a great tour and our tour guide Natalie was outstanding! I don’t usually post reviews, but felt this one was worthy of it. She was great and put us right everything we wanted to see, plus gave us an education. I would highly recommend.

Ian was amazing!!!!

My family and I did the changing of the guard tour. Ian was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job. He really made the experience great and he was full of knowledge. He also answered any questions that we or any other people had on the tour. He also guided us on what to do or see after the tour. Great experience!

Perfect way to experience the changing of the guard

Sandy was amazing as a guide, humorous, knowledgeable and friendly. She knew exactly where we needed to be and got us there. Her commentary and enthusiasm really made the tour.

Great experience! Would definitely recommend doing the tour vs trying to see the changing of the guards on your own. We loved the historical background and stories. Natalie made sure we got the best views possible and gave great tips for the remainder of the day.

David The Incredible Tour Guide

Our tour guide was David. He was a wonderful guide with vast knowledge of the London area and its history. The cherry on top was the personal stories he had to go along with the history as he was a police officer for 30 years. Absolutely wonderful tour guide would 100% recommend.

Great tour experience

Really loved the tour. Natalie was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. She took as to several great vantage points to view the action. We even saw the King drive by. Highly recommend.

Fun!

Jeremy was fabulous! Knowledgeable and fun! Told us great stories! He walked a bit too fast but I think I am a slower Walker than most. Loved the headsets. Made it easy to hear him.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE

It was all incredibly amazing. Paul was funny and had so much knowledge of English history. He told so many stories had us laughing all the time and we didn't only get to see King Charles but the princess royal too going to work. Changing of guard was incredibly awesome perfection to highest degree. Fair to say Paul was incredible and was talking most of the time but had nicknames for all royals but didn't utter a word thru changing of guards. Would do it all again with him. He's a credit to himself and his company he works for

A must do to get best experience for Changing of the Guard!

Michael was a fantastic humorous tour guide! He deftly navigated us through the crowds to get the best views along with so much great info on the event, royals and more. Highly recommend!

Experience was good tour guide could have picked better locations to see the guards and band walking down the mall. Ian was a very informative guide.

Great tour

Great stories told during the tour. It was well organized so that we saw everything from very close ! The guide had great knowledge

Rain didn’t stop us!

Robert was our guide and was phenomenal! It poured almost the whole time but he never missed a beat! We were able to see quite a bit and hear so much history, and after our tour ended at the Palace, it stopped raining and we were able to see the guards and horses. It was great!

Great guide!

We had a great tour and learned loads – Carla, our guide, was fantastic! You don’t actually see the changing of the guards, but you get up close to pretty much everything else!

Not what I expected

Lee was our tour guide and he was great. The tour itself was not. Every time we started watching the guards we were on the move quickly to wait at another spot for another “changing”. It was very crowded and had to stay with the group. We were too far away and all I could get pictures of were the landscapers tearing plants out.

Anna was a brilliant tour...

Anna was a brilliant tour guide. She took us to the best spots to see the activities and provided excellent information. She was very friendly and a provided a great experience.

Never again!

Terrible. We missed our tour because the address was incorrect on the booking info. Two taxi drivers couldn’t find it. Called Viator, and no alternate tour was offered. The representative found us a tour, but we were asked to pay for it. SMH. Horrible!

A London Must See!

Our guide was phenomenal. We traveled to 4, maybe 5 locations in a very crowded environment in order to view the different stages of the Changing of the Guards routine. He also was quite attentive at making sure his group stayed together and arrived safely at each stop. His commentary of the process and general knowledge of the royals' palaces added tremendously to the value of our tour Highly recommend!

Changing of the Guards

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and knew just where to position us. We got an added bonus when he stopped us to position us to see King Charles! Obviously that doesn’t happen every time but it was great he knew it was happening by what was going on.

Our guide took us to some great spots to watch the changing of the guard. The horse guard didn’t participate this time due to the threat of rain but the weather held out. We got some great photos.
