A chance to experience an English tea without breaking the bank

This was a good chance to experience an English tea while seeing the sites of London on the Thames. The snacks were good and the tea was fine. I enjoyed the champagne. The boat, tables and chairs could use a good clean but overall we had a great time.

Enjoyable cruise

Very good boat cruise, but didn’t really like my gluten free food, it was rather dry. Also strange fillings in the sandwiches. I don’t know why they assume everyone likes spicy food

Beautiful afternoon in London!

The boat was beautiful, appreciated the assigned seating and the presentation of the tea service was just perfect! This experience exceeded our expectations in every way!

A really excellent and enjoyable cruse on the Thames The Afternoon Tea Cruise I highly recommend. Do pay the extra pounds for a window table. The Afternoon Tea is scrumptious and a really large meal. The staff are brilliant! The captains narrative which starts a little while after the cruise starts is brilliant. Interesting and very whitty at times. A thoroughly enjoyable trip!

We made it

We were late getting to this cruise because an Uber wouldn’t pick us up and then we got behind the slowest driver ever. We arrived at 3:35p and raced to the boat and successfully made it on board just in time. Yea was good, food was good, staff was friendly.

I have no idea since I never made this trip

I never made this trip due to trains being delayed. Unfortunately this company cannot make an exception and refund my money. I'll not use this service again next time I travel.

Excellent experience!

This was a highlight of our 10 day trip. My 18 year old loved every minute of it! Skip lunch because the food is plentiful and delicious! Kind wait staff.

Worst afternoon tea ever, avoid

So I booked an afternoon tea for myself and my friend as it was her birthday thinking we would have a lovely day and afternoon tea, so we boarded the boat and was shown to our table, I explained to the staff I had pre ordered food due to dietary needs, I’d emailed and spoken to numerous people regarding the food but was told nothing had been sorted out for me so I couldn’t eat the food I was being offered, I was offered an egg mayonnaise sandwich but as I went to take a bite it had raw onion in the sandwich? As my pot of tea was brought to me I asked for sweetener but was told they didn’t have any so no food and no drink for me, I contacted city cruises who basically said it was there fault so I asked for a full refund and asked for another afternoon tea but they informed me they couldn’t provide the dietary needs I required so offered me a full refund but I was a bit disappointed as I had paid a lot to travel to get there so I felt they should compensate me for travel as they admitted they were in the wrong as why should I be out of pocket as they admitted they were on the wrong so I explained if I’d have been told this on the 3 phone calls I would have certainly have changed my arrangements and not come all the way to London and wasted my time and money. They offered me a sight seeing day on the Thames but Iv still got to pay all that money to come to London Whilst people were getting off the boat I was taking to the staff on the boat as could see how much wastage off food there was where other customers had left, I said to the staff about the food, it’s definitely gone down for the price of the afternoon tea it’s disgusting…

Lovely staff,delicious tea,entertaining commentary.

The whole experience was perfect,admittedly the weather was down to luck…. The staff were friendly and very attentive,especially a lovely person who turned out to have a twin working alongside her.Tea was delicious,amazing scones,the commentary was entertaining and informative.My friend and I highly recommend it,awoke the next day smiling to myself as I remembered it.

Pleasently surprised

I have done some dinner cruises where they shove as many people as possible on the boat so I was worried this would be the same. I was pleasantly surprised! There was plenty of room to move around and see the sites. The food was great and the staff were pleasant. Would highly recommend this cruise.

Lovely trip up the Thames, lovely staff, sandwiches were stale which spoilt it for us took a while for tea top up

The day was sunny , friendly people , good pastries we enjoyed it !! We didn’t have to wait too long to sit down . Everything was good but they took too long to bring the pastries that the tea get cold and all gone

The sandwiches were good and the scone lovely. Be sure to go upstairs and listen to the commentator. He was fabulous and a good sense of humor.

Wouldn’t recommend - too expensive for what you get.

Was pretty excited about this, but I ended up getting ignored and had to go ask for my tea - took until we were about 40 min into the trip to get it (and the first time I asked I was basically told to buzz off). The food was okay (emphasis on okay). The ride was nice, however the compartment was really full, which made it hot and uncomfortable. My advice? hit a museum instead or take a cheaper boat tour. 100 pounds is massively overvaluing this experience.

What a lovely experience! Our tour guide Doug was very knowledgeable and a true Englishman. The walking tour was delightful for all ages! The tea was unbelievable! I wish I could find tea like that at home!

Excellent service and lovely food. We were very interested in the guide’s comments but they were not discernible over the noise in the cabin.

Tea on the Thanes River

This afternoon tea cruise was lovrly. The desserts snd tea were delicious. It was relaxing and we got a tour of the buildings a long the Thamesj.

Awesome experience!

Food & tea presentation was great. Would like to have been told at the beginning of the cruise that we'd be consuming food commentary-free the first half of the cruise & that the commentary would happen on the second half of the cruise. We had a very enjoyable time; thank you.

Great price, nice trip

The staff are super friendly and helpful. The views are great and it was organized / run really well. The tea and snacks could have been better but you get what you pay for. I’d splurge and get a window table if you can as some are more toward the middle of the boat which can make it hard to see.

Not worth the money

No AC on the boat. Sat beside a window and it was miserable. Food was mediocre, nothing amazing. They had someone speaking on the loudspeaker but you couldn’t understand anything he was saying 🤷‍♀️

I paid that amount of money to get the top rated cruise ,but we didn’t get what we paid for because we had not given the choice for a table by the window which we aimed for ,instead we have been seated as the cruise members reserved for us a table not by the window ,,and they said we have to pay extra 20 pounds to got window table ,which I found Viator was not clear at reservation time to know what should we expect

Nice change of pace!

A very nice change of pace. Food was very good. Service could have been better, but every one so nice. Definitely recommend for something different.

Horrific afternoon tea and rude staff; don’t waste your money

The boat itself was lovely and the captains were very nice. The toilets however were gross, 3 out of 5 toilets were blocked and the smell was horrendous. The afternoon tea was stale and absolutely tiny! 4 mini sandwiches rock-solid bread between 2 people for over £50!! The wait staff were the real let down; we were sat down on a boiling hot boat for 45 minutes with no service. I got up and asked for 3 glasses of water while we waited and was told to go back to my seat by the first waitress so I had to go and ask someone else. Didn’t think a glass of tap water was such a difficult request. The afternoon tea didn’t arrive until we were on the return journey so we only had it on our table for 20 minutes before they tried to start clearing away to get you off the boat. The £12 ‘mojito’ was soda water and rum; no mint in sight and frankly in-drinkable. Don’t waste your money; go on a sight seeing tour on a boat and go get your afternoon tea somewhere else. Such a waste of money.

Lasting memories

The ambiance, my friends pleasant atmosphere, the greetings and welcoming from the team and good service. My friends had an amazing time as well. The history on the Thames . Lovely way to celebrate the evening.

Fantastic experience

So enjoyable. Fun, informative experience with great food, service and views. Boat ride was fun with interesting information provided about the area and its history (commentary was provided after tea time so wasn’t disruptive).

This was a great tour! The boat hit several hot tourist spots on the Thames. The tea and food provided was excellent and accommodating to the vegetarian travelling with us. This was a special, memorable tour for our family.

Lovely afternoon tea experience with great views

My friend and I had a great time on this afternoon tea river cruise! It was lovely being able to see views from the river boat while enjoying the tea and bites. You are able to select which type of tea you'd like, but the food menu was set. One of my favorite parts of my time in London.

Just OK

The cruise itself was lovely, the boat was nice BUT the service was not good (especially if you didn't order alcohol/extras). It took quite a while to get our tea and food (30-45 minutes in). Sandwiches and pastries were OK. 10/10 for sights.

Miserable afternoon tea

In order of disappointment, the cruise was late leaving. The teapot had a huge visible crack and was leaking tea. When the new one arrived the waiter didn't wipe up the spilled tea. The afternoon tea was miserable. Coronation chicken sandwich, some other spicy sandwich, in thick bread. The small cakes were all stale and the cream for the scones tasted synthetic. No more tea offered. My friend hadn't eaten anything as she was unwell and when I asked for a box to take away, I was told " we don't do that. Looking around, the food waste was incredible. The 2 stars were for the cruise, which was enjoyable.

Nice sightseeing tour

Very nice river cruise with views of major London landmarks. Tea and snacks were delicious. Great for families or couples.

Don’t go if hungry or want good time

Ships speakers were inadequate. Loud buzzing noise. Could not hear guide, who was the captain. Children running all around and on chairs playing loud videos. Food so so. Saw many leaving on trays after tasting.

A well oiled machine

We were so impressed with the organisation and slickness of the crew. A delicious and generous high tea was served with precision and efficiency, as we were entertained an excellent commentary. So impressed with the whole experience.

Loved the river cruise and tea!

Excellent experience. Great service with beautiful views. Definitely recommend. Clotted cream w/jam on scones were amazing. Desserts we delicious. Tea had a good variety and were great.

Disappointing

Paid extra for a window seat and was shown to a non window seat. When we said we paid extra for the window seat we were rudely told we would have to wait till everyone boarded and then see what was left available. Staff were surly and food wasn't very nice. The tea was luke warm and stewed and had been been made well before we boarded. The scones were hard and we didn't even get clotted cream for them. Very ,very disappointed, the views from the boat were great but that is London , nothing to do with London cruises. Would not book again

Fun

Was a lot of fun. Several kinds of tea to choose from and a variety of treats. The crew was helpful and entertaining. Got some amazing pictures of tower bridge, Westminster Abby and Big Ben.

Tea on the Thames

We enjoyed our time on the Thames! Being able to be on the upper deck, had a great views and sunny weather! That was the good part, and the service we received. I've had better food at other tees I've been to, and the tea was not hot and not more than a couple cups.

Lovely afternoon tea cruise

Real special afternoon treat. I took my mother in law for her birthday. (70th). The staff were friendly and directed us to our seat. The food was amazing and really tasty. We both had tea. The only negative would be that we never got offered more drinks. We had window seats which was worth the extra pay. Despite the rainy grey London weather still had great views! Would definitely recommend.

Happy times, eating afternoon tea on the Thames!

The check in process was quite smooth, not too much queueing! The staff welcoming us were really friendly, and we were shown to our seats. We had a great view out of the windows, and were lucky with the sunshine! Our drink orders were taken swiftly (although anything other than tea or coffee was extra charge), and soon after departure, everyone was being served their tea stands. The sandwiches were tasty, and not the dull cheese, cucumber, ham etc. - some different breads, and unusual fillings. The scones were really nice, but my husband is not a lover or strawberry jam - would have been nice to have alternative (raspberry or blackcurrant maybe?). The little cakes looked and tasted lovely. I guess (as it was Good Friday) a nod to Easter would have been a nice touch...maybe a mini egg on the chocolate cake?? But not a deal breaker. We had to ask for extra tea and coffee, but the staff were very obliging when asked. During the trip, the commentator gave us some relevant facts and points of interest, so we learnt a few things on the way. All in all, a really enjoyable family afternoon.

Disappointed tea drinker

The views from the boat on the river were great. The food for the afternoon tea and the service were not great. We arrived early on the boat but our drink orders were not taken until the boat trip started and the loud announcement began, then we could barely hear the server and she almost brought the wrong tea flavor. We never saw her or any other server the rest of the 1.5 trip until the end when it was time to pay for non tea drinks. The tea was supposed to be unlimited. A neighbor table had to physically find more tea and bring back to their table. I would recommend skipping tea and taking a different boat.

Fun family experience

Fun family experience! Family of 5 (kids ages 11, 14, 17) - we enjoyed the food and tea and seeing London from the Thames.

WOW this was such an amazing experience! The food and tea was all delicious. The staff was so kind and helpful and the upstairs guided tour of the sights was the perfect 1-1/2 hour tourist activity for my family from the States.
