Oceanbird (VIP) Lounge was excellent

We found it hard to find any reviews of the Oceanbird (VIP) Lounge when we 1st went last year so thought it helpful to write a specific lounge review. VIP outside queue is really quick and you are 1st into the compact venue, where everything centres round an open bar area/shop/toilets & cloakroom. Where is the lounge? - Once through the Oceanbird lounge VIP queue, turn left and lounge is right there. Drinks - Welcome drinks are laid out ready as you enter and the staff are super friendly - grab yourself a seating area - we love the high stool seating as you can see outside as well. Refills - The staff are excellent at coming round and refilling your drinks so you never have an empty glass - Prosecco glasses are beautiful and very large! Lots of other drinks are available and the 1:45 mins before the show is such a great timeframe and a lively atmosphere. Drinks for the show - staff will offer you a drink in plastic glasses to take to the arena - leave yourself time to walk slowly so you don’t spill the drinks ! Complimentary ABBA water bottles are also given you as you leave the lounge for the show. Food - Cold Buffet food is laid out and a really good selection and they also bring round hot nibbles such as mini burgers in the summer or a mini roast dinner in a bowl in winter - all with Vegan options. We have previously had a late lunch and the buffet from 6pm is then just perfect. After the show - the lounge is just a brilliant place to then go back to after the show for an hour - with continued refills - again - the staff are fantastic. Cloakroom Winter tip: if you go in winter and have coats - split up and someone go to the lounge to secure a place to sit whilst someone else takes coats to the cloakroom area outside the VIP lounge. Toilets - there are no toilets in the lounge, but these are only a short walk across the main bar area - make sure you visit those before you have to leave the lounge for the show as they can be busy near to show time. Seated or dance floor ? - dance floor 100% and quick to get to from the lounge and just so much fun to dance for the 1.5 hrs before going back to the lounge for more drinks ! Oceanbird - is it value for money ? 100% ! We have done this twice and likely will go back again. It’s very good value as you don’t queue, you are 1st in the venue, lounge access with unlimited food and drink before and after - it’s brilliant and highly recommend it. As for the show it’s absolutely FANTASTIC and loved every minute of it.

A must

90 minutes of pure fun! Booked this in advance for my mother’s birthday back in March for May bank holiday.. Arrived at Stratford and got and Uber to the venue (not much around the area) but there were plenty of black cabs around Westfield and then obviously the train.. There was lots of people all in glitter and dressed up for the event so don’t feel over dressed, but equally people were in jeans.. In the venue there is lots to eat/drink obviously at a cost and same with the gift shop! Our tickets were dance floor as we wanted to dance.. it was HOT in there so dress with that in mind, a cloak room would of been handy for jackets. The show itself is just amazing I can’t even explain it! The lights, live band and obviously watching Abba was amazing! Highly recommend! On the way out the loos are busy but its not far back to Westfield, we jumped in a Black Cab for around £11.

Shouldn’t be called ‘dance floor’

Ahhh… you approach the arena from the station, sun is shining and the excitement building as you see lots of others dressed in sparkling clothes, with smiles on their face. You enter into the common area, it’s packed but looks amazing. But you forgive the tight space as surely soon people will be let into the arena. You buy a drink and bear with it for a while. It gets to the start time and you’re still waiting to go in (the show is late, it’s hot and crowded, and there’s zero communication what is happening), but still you’re excited. Finally the doors open. And what a space! Fantastic arena. The excitement builds. The dance floor continues to get fuller and fuller and fuller. There can’t possibly be more people. But yes, you are stood there squashed, no room to ‘dance’. Could easily be re-named ‘standing like sardines floor’ It’s hot, overcrowded and you can hardly see a thing due to the huge people in front of you. What a disappointment. Should have gone with seated. Pros: the show is amazing. Visuals are stunning. Life like. Not to be missed Cons: crowded, hot, sound system is suffering. No crowd control. A girl fainted next to us and had to be carried out. You should be ashamed. Losing the magic so you can cram as many people as possible. No The way of dancing, breathing. Anything. Choose seated or don’t come. Utterly disappointed on what looked (from what I see behind people’s heads), as an amazing experience.

Very disappointing - expensive sound induced headache but with great visuals.

The visual experience was pretty amazing but the sound was appalling and headache inducing - too loud and no balance. I'm not a major Abba fan, but was looking forward to the concert as I enjoy their songs - catchy tunes, close harmonies and the quality of the girls' voices. All of this was missing in most of the songs as the low / mid range accompaniment was so loud; at one stage I had to look at the screens to tell whether or not anyone was singing. This concert was great for Abba enthusiasts who were happy to hear all of the songs in their heads, but not for anyone who actually wanted to hear the music. In fact, about the only songs where the voices were properly audible for the most part was 'Thank you for the Music' as the accompaniment is sparse - and also, as my wife has just pointed out, 'The winner takes it all ' With so much money spent on the technology for the show, you would have thought that they could have ensured that the sound balance was good and did the tunes and the voices proud - sadly not.

Fantastic show

So we went to the 3pm show. We don’t experience the food or drink at the venue as we ate and drunk else where. The staff were friendly and was very organised in getting us through the security and scan tickets. I had mobile tickets and reception was great. We were on the dance floor standing. 90mins was enough time to enjoy the show. It was incredible. They really looked like they were on the stage. Music and singing sounded alittle off in the opening but it soon got better and you could hear the lyrics very well. All lightening effects were brilliant. All visuals were a show on their own highly recommended. The only down side is I brought Bottle of water which was a refillable bottle but the cap was so flimsy that soon as I opened it I now can’t reuse it as the cap leaks.

Good night overall & glad I have been

Overall had a really good night, it was a great experience but was disappointed all the main hits weren’t part of it, I feel it would’ve made the atmosphere better. When the newer songs came on not many people knew them to sing along to. Was also a little confused with some of the animations they were playing.

Incredible, incredible!

An incredible experience and it was hard to believe that ABBA were not stood in front of you. It was such a party atmosphere with people of all ages. Stayed at the snooze box hotel across the road where the party continued long after the event. My husband and I both agreed it was the best thing we’ve seen for a long time. Well worth the money

Christmas present

Omg can not say how good this was . Would definitely recommend. I thought the mama Mia experience was good but this is unbelievable. The pub opposite is a must before and after . The atmosphere is great . We had sit down seats but you spend a lot of time dancing . We dressed up and we’re not alone . There were all age groups . Everyone seemed to enjoy it . Would definitely go again . It’s like abba are really there . The band and singers are great also . It is such a clever idea .

A nice Saturday evening

My wife and I were given tickets to attend last Saturday’s evenings performance by our son. We liked the venue and had a lovely evening. Reason we didn’t give 5/5 is because they don’t play all the hits. Instead they play some songs we had never heard of. They didn’t play Super Trouper, Money Money Money, Angle Eyes etc. Everyone else in the audience said the same. And when they played the lesser known songs the whole atmosphere changes. It’s really ridiculous. Good service at the bars and good choices. Not sure nearly £3 for a bag of small crisps is decent value. Also, what’s bizarre is you have to put your coat in a plastic box whilst you get patted down by security. But they didn’t check the jacket.

Great entertainment.

This show was brilliant it's hard to believe they aren't there in person the lights the sound the whole vibe. Dancing and singing along highly recommend.

Absolutely Awful, Don’t Bother

Well what can I say, Disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe. We were so excited but that only lasted in until the show started with a song that nobody knew. I felt it was a Technical display with 4 people who couldn’t sing for toffee. If you want a show with all the flashing lights and random songs shown on a screen then go. If you want a great Abba extravaganza with people that can sing the amazing ABBA Hits along with a great atmosphere. Don’t bother. We would of been happy putting mama Mia and dancing in the kitchen.

This was my second time,and I went with my daughter and she said it was Mind blowing.

All of the show brilliant,it was amazing all the lights and the music,and the picture story ,and ABBA were surreal.

Went last Sunday. If you’re thinking should I or shouldn’t I. I’d definitely say GO. Worth every penny, fabulous venue, even better show. Had a great day. Well done to whom ever invented this. Great day 💃💃💃💃 xx

Unbelievable

Amazingly well done! Lovely small venue. Made us smile, cry, dance and sing along. Live orchestra a nice touch. The finale was great. Missing a couple of hits.

Freaky, but absolutely brilliant

My daughter bought this for me as a birthday present and it’s hard to describe the experience. If you’re an ABBA fan, it’s a must. As people have said in the reviews, the first song is not a popular one, but we felt this was done on purpose, as the reactions from the audience were something else, with what they were actually seeing! It really is hard to believe that ABBA weren’t actually there! It takes some getting used to. The videos of them are good, but they could have done the whole show as if they were actually there, as it was so unbelievably realistic. Whoever put this together is genius. Very bizarre, freaky, but absolutely brilliant. Cant wait for more experiences like this

ABBA - a spectacular visual experience

Saw the show last night and overall a very good experience. just a few comments: The opening song was one I (and I think most of the audience) didnt know kind of deflated the atmosphere inside the Arena. There were also 2 (or 3) new songs which again left the audience slightly disinterested. When they played the hits it was a different story - just fantatsic and amazing to see how real they looked singing and dancing. The technology is astonishing! My wife and I bought tickets for the Oceanbird Lounge which although expensive, was worth every penny. A warm comfortable lounge with free flowing drink and a cold buffet which was varied and tasty. The merchandise is to be avoided - very expensive and only for the die hard fanatics. Summing up, a show to go to!

Really fun night, from someone who's not a huge ABBA fan

I'm not sure huge ABBA fan but was happy to go along with my aunt for the experiance. I really enjoyed the whole thing it really messes with your mind we were at the back of the dance floor and although the avatars are small they look like there really there it's crazy You can tell when the images are on the big screen but it didn't take away from the experiance there were plenty of songs that I knew and the stage and sound designs were amazing The dance floor was very packed in and hot so if you don't like being a bit squashed then it's not the place for you. We didn't see many people standing up in the seated sections only towards the end. I didn't get any food or drink but there were options and a free clockroom all in all I really enjoyed the night

WOW WOW - what a fabulous night - never stopped dancing or singing - highly recommended for all age groups - only downside is once inside the cost of drinks is very high but heyho it’s a night never to forget xxx The dance floor is the best

Here we go again 🎵

This is my second visit having visited in November last year with my partner. The experience is truly surreal, it allow new generations to appreciate how incredibly special the music of ABBA is. The show is a work of digital genius and is truly immersive with all the effects. Would I call it a concert, maybe not, but it’s the best show I’ve ever seen. The staff are friendly and everything is well organised. My partner is disabled but the staff were truly inclusive and could not have been more helpful.

Nothing Special!

Visited with a group of friends and was hoping for a real party night, paid for the vip experience but definitely wouldn’t recommend, cocktails were bland, food was ok but just a few snacks really. As we were in the VIP we stayed until we were told to go in arena, but ended up at the front which doesn’t give you the full experience. Definitely not worth £300+

Amazing with some possible changes....

It was a brilliant evening. The technology is incredible. Loved the songs and music. It would have been perfect in our opinion with a few changes....the playlist lacked 3 massive hits which were missed out...I would advise people to view the playlist in advance so not disappointed. We feel they should have opened with Take A Chance On Me to get everyone going instead of The Visitors and had a second encore with Super Trouper to have people singing as they left, with Money Money Money (my favourite!) replacing Dont Shut Me Down in the middle. There has been a suggestion such songs have been held back for future changes. These suggestions seem to be supported by the lack of dancing on the dance floor. We would only go back again in these 3 songs were included. ....People see the same musicals time after time with no changes so why not make the perfect show and consistent? We weren't keen on the animated sections, though very well done as we just wanted to see ABBA. We sat in the cheapest £55 in bk f row g and felt we had a good view for the price. Whilst the review sounds critical, we really enjoyed it. The auditorium effects were incredible...like a massive immersive disco. I sang the whole time...it was loud enough to drown me out! It really was as if they were there (Agnetha being the best Abbatar!)....just please give the audience the final 3 hits (if recorded) to make the evening perfect.

This was by far the best concert experience I’ve ever had! Very moving and beautifully choreographed!

Ab-fab-u-lous

Wasn't sure if it could live up to expectations but it soooooo did and beyond! Had an absolute blast with my friend and our teenage daughters. It was really an amazing show and oddly personal touches. Highly highly recommend.

Brilliant night

Such a brilliant night. Head for the dance floor rather than the seats as this is way more fun, there’s a bit more space towards the front and sides. The concert was so real and so much fun I would visit again. Bar staff were friendly, drinks were reasonable for London. A really great night out.

Excellent

Such an amazing experience. You really need to see it for yourself. I would certainly return. Only criticism would be the overkill of emails relating to the event, so many emails in succession is really not necessary.

You have to go

We loved this,honestly it is an experience not to be missed. The lighting and special effects are worth going for even if you're not a big Abba fan We stayed in Canary Wharf, got on the DLR from West India Quay straight to Pudding Mill Lane and it was a 30 second walk to the arena. Security was quick and friendly. Bar and waiting areas well laid out and the toilets were immaculate. The show itself was just fabulous I won't go in to detail because sharing it ruins the fun bit honestly I'm not easily impressed and I was in awe. Leaving was slow but not scary or crushing at all. The DLR back was busy but if you're not one for standing up just wait and another comes along in no time. I went with my 2 teens and they loved it, we felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had the "cheap seats"£21.50 each on row M in the God's and didn't miss a thing.

Amazing show. Excellent organisation. We had a dance booth. So much fun. Roomy, own bar service to table. The show was brilliant so so real. We danced our socks off. Memories made .

Go while the event is still running - it’s an amazing experience

This is a not to be missed experience. Handy if you know at least some of ABBA’s back catalogue but if not the staging/lighting/visuals were amazing. Basically you feel like you are watching a ‘Live’ concert. As a tech person I was keen to see how everything would work together - live band too added to the interactive experience. We were lucky as we went as a group by coach so door to door service but for independent travel there is a DLR station literally across the road. For people who don’t want to be in the waiting area with 3000 others then my tip would be to cross over the road to ‘Snoozebox’ - a drink and food venue made from containers. Plenty of seating, live DJ/music and a couple of bars - one near the main entrance and one through in the back section of the site. Toilets with no queues too which is a bonus. Good vibe and 80’s music playing to get you in the mood before the main ‘Abba’ event. All in all something not to be missed

A MUST WHILE IN LONDON

Loved It and a must when visiting London especially if you are an Abba Fan. Very well organised and well run. Good Bars and choice of snacks before the show. The 90 minute show is amazing and so nice that phones are banned so you can enjoy the show. Great sound and amazing lights and atmosphere. Be warned as the venue is quite a distance from the city centre so give yourself plenty of time.

Book it !!!!!

There is a reason photos and videos are banned.... Hands down this is the BEST show I have ever seen. We had seats but it was hard to keep still (until the end) what an amazing show, my mind was blown !!! despite other reviews saying the area was cold, IT WASNT, the merch was reasonablly priced in my opinion, it was also easy to get a drink at the bar despite the crowd. They did all the hits only 1 I didnt know off the new album. I was in tears all the way through !!

Great ABBA eperience

An opportunity arose to see ABBA Voyage at short notice. Went to the website on the Tuesday and booked tickets for the dance floor for the Friday. There seemed to be plenty of spare allocation. Decided to stay in the Canary Wharf area. Took the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) from Canary Wharf to Pudding Mill Lane. Regular trains and only about 15 minutes journey. Pudding Mill station is right next to the ABBA arena giving a very short walk. Electronic tickets gave easy access to the stadium and security checks were minimal but quick and reassuring. Within the stadium there were food and drink outlets and despite the number of customers it was easy to get served. The event started on time and there was a great atmosphere. The concert was fantastic, the band and sound were great and it was difficult to believe that ABBA were not really present. The length of concert was 90 minutes. Leaving the concert was easy and getting back onto the DLR hassle free. With dance floor tickets in the region of £100 I would highly recommend this experience.

I must see event whilst in London - loved it!

Wow wow wow! I nearly cried! This show was amazing. Being 52 and from OZ I never got to see ABBA in concert and well after going to ABBA voyage I certain feel like I had got close to it! Thank you❤️ ABBA Voyage stadium is easy to get to from central London from train

Great experience

Loved this experience Was difficult to get your head around as they looked and sounded real! The special effects are breathtaking Sat in block D B33/34 which were very close to the open dance floor and perfect seats Great live band , singers were really good My only concern was the number of people crammed into the dance area which kept spilling out onto the steps to the seated area It didn’t impact on anyone seated but there were 2 members of staff struggling to contain people and requests by them to ask people to move down were ignored

Expected more

My children treated me to the trip for my 60th Birthday, and was really excited. The journey to London was easy and volunteers directed you to the stadium. There is a shop outside, but a larger one is in the actual venue. My daughter had some food which wasn't bad but expensive. We were on the dance floor which when we arrived was fairly spacious, I expected it to fill a bit more, but it was silly full, you could not move , let alone dance! This really needs to be addressed as it felt dangerous, and you could not dance, without bumping into other people. The avatar's are impressive but small, and the sound quality is not great at times they sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks! Found it strange that they started the concert with song's that were not recognised and that so many big hits were missed out, which was a huge shame. I'm pleased I went, but would not return again, I expected to hear all their hits, and for that it fell way short, maybe they are planning Voyage 2. A tip for the dance floor, wear comfy shoes.

A unique experience but …….

This is definitely a novel and technically impressive show, however, once the initial awe wore off, you began to see its limitations. It is, after all, simply a very nice CGI on a large cinema screen. The light and laser show compliments the music very well. The live band accompanying the film was a nice surprise and meant that you didn’t feel too stupid applauding a screen. The side screens, which have blowups of the group, are essential, as the on stage images of ABBA are quite small and 2D, a limitation of the technology I suppose. I have to agree with others regarding the set list, the audiences’ reaction to the cartoon intervals and the lesser known tracks clearly killed the mood. The arena is well managed and easy to get to, but with typical arena prices. Definitely eat before you go, Westfield has a huge selection of restaurants. At well over a £1 a minute, it was certainly a unique experience, cheaper than many live concerts but possibly too short to represent value for money.

An enjoyable venue & experience

A good experience as it was not just a show of singing but superb lighting. Our seats were at the very back, to the left of the stage, but I believe no matter where you sit you will have a good view.

Good musical and theatre experience for ABBA fans

Good theatre and musical experience, if you are an ABBA fan! We were managed efficiently to our seats, and even though having arrived within 20 mins of show.

Not as good as it used to be

A great show for Abba fans, and I was blown away by it when it first opened, but having re visited to take my husband, feel let down by sound quality especially at the beginning, and the fact that we spent most of the show looking at the back of the lady in front who kept standing up to dance, and the very drunk and loud people 2 rows down, and yes we could hear them chatting and laughing all the way through. When we first went there were no drinks allowed inside the show and no dancing if you were seated, this has all gone out the window now. What a shame. Drinks are expensive and food limited, but staff are all great and no queues at the bar or for food.

Pretty Good

Overall really good. But lots of missteps - strange song choices which badly affected the pace, lots of big tracks omitted, a weird cartoon that took up lots of time that had nothing to do with ABBA. And the avatars are decent but not brilliant. I’d say Bennys was best. If they just stuck to the big songs it would be a great 90 mins as the band are great and the staging is phenomenal.

Waste of money and very flat

Flew from Ireland to see this and paid £130 per ticket. The theatre is about 45 mins on the underground from Paddington station. Arena is amazing and the lighting is spectacular. The technology behind the 4 band members is also amazing but that’s where it ends. The show is really short, we were back on the underground after 90 mins …the show is strewn with 3 minute animations while an ABBA track is playing even Waterloo is just the video of them singing at the Eurovision. So utterly disappointing and expensive for what is essentially a fancy movie of ABBA songs many of which none of the crowd knew.

Absolutely amazing experience

Such an amazing experience to see ABBA in what appears to live performance. The staging, light show and live performers and band are great. I would definitely recommend this show and will definitely plan to come again if the have opportunity 😊

Loved it, amazing show and atmosphere

Bought resale tickets the day before. Pudding Lane station opposite the arena, staff pleasant during queuing and security checks. Enjoyed a prep show cocktail. The show was amazing, very clever. The live band and backing singers made it a spectacular show. Great atmosphere. Very glad we were seated, the dance floor was packed.

Great experience!

This was a fun experience! It is really amazing to see how this was done. The crowd’s energy is exciting. I love how the lighting and real band were used in this performance.

Unbelievable

Where do I begin…if I could give this show 6 out of 5 I would! To say this show is amazing is an understatement. It is hard to believe ABBA are not actually on stage, everything is amazing. The arena, the show, lighting, ambience everything is so well done. I am actually envious of those of you who have not yet been. It’s both nostalgic & emotional & some of the best money I have ever spent. Getting there is easy & the area is literally next to the tube. I was apprehensive about the queues for the cloakroom, I needn’t have worried its all very easy, slick & smooth. The drinks in the arena were no more expensive than anywhere else, in fact they were way more expensive at the O2 arena in Leeds. If you like ABBA you will have an amazing time, if you are unsure about ABBA you will exit a mega fan. Do yourself a favour & go see this show, you will not be disappointed.

Not the biggest ABBA fan and the show wasn’t that good to be honest. The faces on the screen looked like Sims-characters. If you’re a really big ABBA fan you will appreciate it
