It was a lovely day and a tour of the lakes—a beautiful place to visit. Our driver/guide was very skilled in navigating through those dangerous roads. 100% recommend

Good agency for Lake District day trips

This day trip from Liverpool to the Lake District, run by the Mountain Goat tour agency, was good. Gene/Jean(?) was our driver/guide and she was excellent at both driving around the really narrow roads and she was knowledgeable about the area. The sights were pleasant and I particularly enjoyed the Tarn Hows area. Not a fault of the agency but the Lake Windermere boat was quite crowded with tourists and it was a bit stressful. Also, the tour lasted just over 10 hours, not the 9 hours advertised.

David was so kind, excellent driver and very punctual. We had a lovely day all around the lakes and beautiful countryside. The ferry was just long enough to enjoy but not too long and the short train ride was a treat. We are so glad we didn’t drive those narrow streets and have to navigate the traffic. Great day!!

A Great Day in a Beautiful Area

Great tour - Viator needs to update meeting info though!

I liked the tour - the guide was great and very knowledgeable! However please note if you book on Viator - the meeting time is INCORRECT! It says “meet at 9:25am for a 9:30am departure” but you actually need to be there at 8:55am for a 9am departure. I almost missed the tour because of this error. I arrived at 9:20am thinking I was early because of these instructions.

Pleasantly surprised by the extent of the day trip.

Beautiful countryside, very knowledgeable and interesting guide, fun train and boat ride, enjoyed the multiple stops along the way.

Picked best day to go to The Lakes - the sun was out 😎 Amazing views of the National Parks along with a cruise and steam train added in -made this event fantastic - and not to mention the group of great travellers - we all enjoyed the craic with Tom

Horrible experience

I booked and pre-paid for the tour starting from Liverpool on July 2nd for July 13th. They canceled the tour with me and my family finding it out after going to the meeting point and waiting for 30 minutes for the bus to show up on the same day of July-13. Upon me calling them, they offered for a change for Friday's tour starting from... Manchester. Only after a lot of push, they offered to return the money back which I am still expecting and have not received it back to my bank account. Really horrible experience.

Great tour

Jean, our tour guide to the Lake District was a great driver considering changes to our route due to road closure and to reckless motorists. Jean covered so many topics in her commentary such as these: geology, hydrology, archeology, prehistory, recent history, culture , geography , farming and conservation. It was a real pleasure touring with her.

Great day out!

Even though it was foggy we were able to see some lovely spots of the Lake District. It felt very wintery and crisp. Are tour guide had lived there so she knew her way around well and took us to some spots that tourists wouldn’t know.

Loving the Lake District

We particularly enjoyed the guides information on many varied topics. The Windermere Children interesting. Excellent driving through all weather situations. It was my second time to Lake District but learned a lot with knowledgeable guide.

Lake District worth the long drive.

Driver and guide Jeanie loves the flora, fauna and rich history of this stunning 🤩 countryside. No question left unexplored; she encouraged us to step out of the van even in a misty rain to capture epic views of a magical place. History does come alive in a place like Hawkshead, Windermere and more cozy hamlets smushed up against the largest natural lake in England. I’d do this tour again 👍

Great day trip, amazing tour guides

Got a unique experience with 2 amazing tour guides, Mike and Gary. Windermere Lake Cruises was ok. The best part of the trip was when we took the off-the-beaten tracks to Sticklebarn, the view was breath-taking. Both tour guide and driver were very nice and knowledgeable. Worth every penny spent!
