A very funny Trip with the best tourguide we ever had

We had a lot of fun at the zipline the boatride was interesting , only the weather was not on our side. Our tourguide was nice and friendly , told us a lot about the people and the land

Adventure in Puerto Limon

We booked this trip as shore excursion and it did not start out well. The tour operator already left as our ship arrived later then another cruise ship. They thought we were on the first ship and thought we didnt come. Luckily for us there was a taxi driver, Dexter Foster, that knew the tour operator and called for us. He arranged that we could do the tour with him in his taxi! We had a fun and lovely day with him. The zipline experience was great as well as the boat tour (saw all kind of animals, like monkeys and sloths). Thanks again Dexter!

Ziplining in Costa Rica is fantastic

This is not your normal tourist, easy zip line. This is a real zip line and while they make it safe for you, if you are experienced, you can have fun as well. There are 12 zips in all and several of them are long and allow you to get some great speed and adrenalin. If you are a beginner, they have brakes at the end and they help you get set up. If you are experienced and want to speed into things, you can do that as well. Now the canal boat half was interesting. It was OKAY. My family loved it seeing monkeys swinging through the trees and a few birds and snakes. For me, it was eh. I would have preferred to do the zip line a second time. The only issue is we never had a chance to buy our photos as our tour bus was leaving as we ended. This was because our group was so large it took a longer time then necessary on the zipline.

Highs and lows

Our 1st time zip lining. I’m 77and the wife 74. The staff gave very good instructions and took time fitting the equip ent. The only downside was the rain which was nothing to do with the zip line company. This part of the tour would be 4 stars. The Tortuguero Canal tour portion of the tour was not worth the 20 minutes or so it took. It was like they showed us a sloth in a tree a couple of monkeys and an iguana so tours over. I would give it a very generous 1 star. Our drive Steve (Reynaldo) was the 5 star plus part of the tour. He answered our questions, gave us a history lesson, stopped to point out wildlife and show us the local flora. Overall Steve showed us more than the canal tour.

Cruise Excursion

Booked the zip line 'only' tour for 6 from home prior to joining a Norwegian Cruise stopping at Limon. The Rep (who was great) met us outside the port entrance, which is a brisk 10 minute walk from ship - so give yourself some time. There was a slight hiccup as he only had as down as a group of 2. However, it was quickly resolved after we produced the confirmation and/but we ended up on the zipline and canal tour. Zipline was great and the canal ride produced monkeys, iguanas and a couple of close ups with sloths. We didn't initially book the boat as it had mixed reviews - but you can't guarantee nature. the time on the mini bus was well informative - thanks to the rep.

This was my second time...

This was my second time to do this excursion, and it was excellent just as before In every respect. I would recommend it to anyone who is going to Costa Rica

Nice and informative tour

Tour guide and driver were informative and polite and courteous. Ways to improve- there were two tours going on at the same time for the passengers on our bus (a tram tour and our zip line tour ) We had to wait for more than 20 minutes on the passengers from the tram tour after our zip line ended.

Great time

A great experience. Our guide was great. Lots of information about animals, plants, and the country itself.

Zipline you can handle

Experience was fantastic. It was actually 12 separate ziplines. Just thrilling to look at the canopy while you zip past. Note that unlike some ziplines this is not a superfast, adrenaline-rushing zipline which is over in 2 seconds. So, that made the experience more enjoyable. Once you finish the first one, even a novice will get the courage. Guides were very understanding that we were relatively new to ziplining and made us comfortable. Big thanks to our guides, Jaime and Jeronima. They made the difference. The guide who picked us up at the cruise port explained patiently everything. The driver was careful with the bumpy drive to get to the place.

Breath taking !

If you want to experience the rainforest at different levels this is the trip for you! Ariel the guide and Hector the driver made us all feel very welcome, Extremely knowledgable sharing really interesting facts with us. The guides at Veragua zip line were brilliant! Very encouraging, patient and ensured we had a fabulous experience. The second part of the excursion takes you along the canal where we saw numerous sloths, caymans, monkeys, lizards and many many birds. A great day out while our cruise docked in Limon, Would highly recommend

Would recommend the tour!

Steven was an excellent tour guide! Only me and my fiancé booked the excursion and he picked us up and basically gave us a private tour. He was kind and fun and showed us lots of cool things native to Costa Rica. Would def recommend!

Fantastic Excursion

A brilliant excursion combining the thrill of a great zip lining set up through the rain forest and a magical trip on the boat seeing wildlife up close and personal and being given great information from our guide. Cannot thank our guide Ariel and driver Hector who went above and beyond to ensure we had a magnificent day visiting Costa Rica. Would totally recommend this tour.

Best day ever

This tour was absolutely amazing. The zip lining was incredible. Our guide was Ariel and he really knew his stuff. As well our driver Hector was awesome. I would highly recommend this trip.

Zipline and baby sloth saved this excursion.

Booked an excursion in Costa Rica for Ziplining and boat tour of the canal through Viator. Greenway was on time for pick up and drop off but the driver was horrible and the guide was silent most of the ride. The Zipline tour was fantastic! The guides were helpful, kind and energetic which was great! The driver hit/ran over every pothole and bump when some could have been avoided. The spare tire ending up falling off the van due to the crappy driving. Our 1 hour boat “tour” consisted of the boat captain driving us into a bunch of trees to find a crocodile, getting stuck, then driving over to a turtle on a rock and getting stuck on a log, then going back to the pickup point to pick up more passengers. There was no tour. The ONLY reason it was salvaged was by getting to hold a 3 month old baby sloth. I wouldn’t recommend booking a tour with this company.

A very enjoyable day in Limon

I would definitely recommend this tour for folks arriving on cruises. It was a much smaller group (10 people). At the first stop, my wife & I were the only 2 in our group that were doing the Zipline Canopy Tour. Our small group arrived at the same time as a large bus load of zipliners from the cruise ship. We went to the front of the line and had transportation back to the top were the rest of our group was taking a nature tour. We didn't have to wait for all the cruise tour busload to finish. From there we went to the Tortuguero Canal Boat tour. This felt like the Jungle Boat tour from Disney (haha). We saw sloth (including getting to hold and pet a baby), monkeys and other wild life. Very relaxing. We then stopped briefly at a beach bar and bought a cold cerveza and enjoyed the surf. Then our guide, Carlos, and driver, Gato, took us to the high point over looking Limon to a restaurant called Red Snapper. The view a beautiful and my wife & I shared a delicious red snapper plate that also had cocoanut rice & beans and fried plantains. All in all, a very enjoyable day in Limon.

Tour guide not properly trained

Our guide (Michelli) was along for the ride. I believe she was new with the company and although she has lived in Costa Rica her entire life, she sat on the bus mostly in silence. Perhaps the company should have trained her properly. We got to the zip line (which was great). Michellli gave us no direction as to the next steps, the bathrooms, waivers, etc. The bus driver (Marvin) got lost and had to ask for directions and drove fast down the bumpy dirt road. Rough ride going there, better coming back. When we got to the zip line, the driver went to park the bus. After we all got off the bus with our stuff, we later learned that our stuff needed to be stored in the bus. Michelli left her phone in the bus so she couldn’t contact the driver to return. We finally got to zipline. We had a great time ziplining as that company was very well organized. Then off to the boat tour. The boat driver handed the mic to Michelli. Unfortunately she didn’t use it the entire trip. Very disappointed as we didn’t learn anything from the guide about Costa Rica, zip lining or the canals.

Zip line and canal ride

I did interesting ride through Costa Rica in order to find the zip lining location. So interesting to see all the different neighborhoods and the rainforest. The zip lining staff are friendly and helpful and kind. We all felt very safe and enjoyed seeing the rain forest from the canopy. The boat ride was so fascinating to see all the different flora and fauna along the canal. We were lucky to catch a small mom with her cub, monkeys, a small caiman, and some giant lizards or iguanas.So much fun!!

Good Tours, Poor Planning

The activities were great. The zip line was well ran, easy to move through and exciting. The boat tour was a bit of a downfall since we didn’t see any animals but was calm and relaxing. Exactly how I wanted to spend my Costa Rica experience. The bigger issue was our tour guide and bus driver. The bus driver wasn’t safe at all. He tore around turns, hit speed bumps straight on, left us at the zip line and overall was unhelpful with questions. He also got lost and had to stop to ask for directions. The tour guide similarly was quite horrible. It was obvious she was brand new but she never spoke during the tour. We learned no information about Costa Rica from her or the bus driver. She was extremely unorganized and uncomfortable. She knew nothing of what was going on. The boat tour driver handed her a microphone and she said nothing. Nothing about the beautiful rainforest, nothing about the animals, nothing about the canal. Literally nothing. It was only when other tourist pointed out animals she saw them. Would go to the zip line and boats again, but not with this company.

Great excursion

Wonderful tour. Zip line was fun. Tour guide was awesome. Canal boat ride was ok, or much wildlife to look at, not natures fault. If I was to do it all over I’d do the zip line then do the rainforest walk and skip the canal boat tour. Awesome excursion.

Cancelled by provider in the middle of my cruise.

I will never use Trip Advisor again for a cruise excursion. I booked a similar excursion months in advance and it was cancelled a week before my cruise. I booked this trip as soon as I was informed that the first one was cancelled. This trip was cancelled 48 hours before it was scheduled leaving me with no options. Trip Advisor obviously does not vet the providers. It's always a risk to book excursions not offered by the cruise line and I'll never take a chance with Trip Advisor after this experience.

Fun in Limon

We met Carlo outside of the pier gates after we got off the ship. He and our driver, Hector, took us to our Zipline adventure in the rain forest. It was great- about 12 wires- not very strenuous and the guides were awesome. Then we went to the boat ride in the canal where we saw lizards, birds and sloths. Hector is an excellent driver. He kept joking and told us to beware of the anacondas in the canal. He has an excellent eye for spotting wildlife and different flowers on the drive. We tasted some local citrus. Carlo gave lots of information about local life there. And most importantly we made it back to the ship with time to spare.

A Great Company

OMGOSH, absolutely the best and most exciting experience out there. Zipping through the beautiful Coast Arican Rain Forest is amazing. This company is a winner!!!

One of the best excursions we’ve ever taken

Renata, who took us to each part of the tour, was one of the best (if not THE best) tour guide we ever had! His friendliness, knowledge, and willingness to accommodate was far beyond the norm. His English was perfect and almost completely unaccented. The zip line portion of the tour had me concerned at first because the zip line guides seemed to send the next client down the line before the last one had arrived. However, the lines were among the longest and fastest we have ever done so there was never any close proximity between clients. And after about the third line the spacing between the clients always resulted in the arrival of the previous client before the next one was sent down the line. Guides were consistently thorough and systematic in safety practices hooking and unhooking clients from the lines. While Renato did not accompany us on the zip lines themselves, he did accompany us on the canal excursion and greatly enhanced the experience through his knowledge and commentary on the environment and wildlife.(He even asked at one point if he talked too much but I assured him that we were learning so much that “too much” was not possible!)

Enjoyable Time in Limon

We had a great time zip-lining on the river cruise and learning about Limon. WE went through customs and they were right there with a sign for us, we got on our bus and headed out. Our guide was informative and we learned a lot about the country. The zip lining was fun and the riverboat ride was informative and we saw moneys, a sloth, various birds lizards and a crocodile. The price was a lot less than the cruise ship excursion and more personal than the big bus tour that the cruise ship had. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

Eco-Cruise and Zip-Lining while on Central America Cruise (Family with two kids (10 & 12)

Our cruise company (NCL) offered a similar shore excursion but with a minimum age of 12 for the zip lining. Therefore, I searched online for a tour that accepts also 10 year olds. I booked this tour directly via tripadvisor and paid online in full upfront. I mention this because we had someone on the tour who only made a partial deposit and had to pay the remainder on the bus. Although he apparently was told during the booking that cards are accepted for this it actually wasn’t the case that day and he had to pay cash, which caused some confusion and hassle due to a lack of sufficient cash at hand. Again, this was not the case for us and our booking went super smooth, from registering, through payment up to receiving and using the online ticket, which we could also download into Apple Walllet. Now to the tour itself: after disembarking we walked outside the restricted port zone where we were greeted by the guides who walked isn’t the well maintained bus. The following bus ride took about 1 1/2 hrs, which just flew by though as our tour guide gave us really informative insights into the agriculture, culture and other aspects of the country. Once we had reached the zip lining location we were greeted by the very professional guides who provided us with our equipment. The 9 zip-line rides were so much fun and absolutely appropriate for age ten years and above (although your child should have done it before and shouldn’t be too afraid). Our two daughters just loved it. Once done we were served a bit of fresh fruit and some water before the bus took us to a small jetty near the Tortuguero National Park where we boarded a boat to explore the canals. Our tour guide as well as the captain did a fantastic job spotting all sorts of animals (sloths, butterflies, iguanas, lizards, birds, monkeys). However, you don’t actually enter the National Park itself, which apparently would take too long. On the way back we briefly stopped at the roadside outside the gate of a banana plantation, which felt a bit strange and useless. The following stop at a small cocoa farmer sales shop, however, was informative and worthwhile. All in all the best tour of our entire cruise and very recommended.

Fun for first timers

The organization by and professionalism of the guide and driver were excellent. Everything went as planned and we even had time for an additional stop at a beach. The canal tour allowed us to see some of the local wildlife and our van driver was great at spotting along the way animals. My only challenge was that on four of the nine runs when ziplining I did not make it to the next platform. This required me to pull myself along the cable - exhausting! The safety precautions taken and the instructions given by the ziplining staff were thorough and well done. My husband and I are two seniors who had never ziplined before but we felt very comfortable.

Zip line and river boat ride

We had a great time doing the zipline and the riverboat ride was good as well. It was super easy to find them when we arrived based on their instructions. We decided to save some money and not go through the ship excursion. After arriving we got on a small bus with mostly folks from our ship. We started with the zipline in the morning on a private property that they owned. We want to just call out that they do have a person that will take your picture and video only on the first zip. I wish that they mention that it was only going to be on the first as I was expecting more photos on the other lines. For some reason, I thought they had hidden cameras, but it was only a person on the first ride down. The price is a bit pricey at $45 for two-person for photos on what I would consider the slowest line. After zip-lining, we did the river tour. We didn't have binoculars and I think it would have been more enjoyable with binoculars. I wish these tours offer binoculars as part of the booking. I think it would make them actually stand out from the other tour provider. If you are like me I really don't have a reason to own a binocular or want to carry one on vacation. The shops that we stopped at I think are also owned by the same people. The prices are a bit high and I think you can find a better deal around the port. Overall, it was what I was expecting from these tours. Besides my feedback to the tour company, the tour guide was good and we had a great experience in a small group.

Start off Zip Lining then boat cruise on canal

The drive into hills was first the adventure with the views of coast and the rainforest along with the city. Then we got outfitted in hard hats, gloves and harness. All very secure fit and operators checked that it was still tight all the time we were zipping. The braking system was done by the staff on each line and they had enough experince that the stop was away from anything hard. Saw red and green poison frogs (so tiny), howler monkey were close by us on several lines. We had a large group and it took time for us to traverse the whole course. Good picture opportunities. We were able to rehydrate ourselves in gift shop and then traveled to canal boat. That portion of day included seeing sloths, lizards, igrets, cranes and howler monkeys along with mangroves and maybe an alligator. There was side trip to a learn about bananas and opportunity to visit a local gift shop besdie the boat cruises gift shop

Great experience!

This tour was SO well done. I felt safe throughout the zipline portion and could just relax and have fun. The canal cruise was also nice--saw several types of wildlife in their natural habitat.

So much fun!

We went to the Veragua Rainforest for the zip lining. The ride was through local rural homes, and our guide, Steven, explained about their lives, the flowers and animals. The eleven zip lines were fun, and the guides were very professional and ensured our safety. After that we went for a cruise on the canal. Our guide and boat driver were excellent at finding animals and birds. We saw a sloth just four feet away! Howler monkeys, toucans, a huge iguana, another bright green lizard with a crest, caiman, more sloths and lots of birds and plants. This trip is definitely worth your time and money.

Zipline and canal tour

Rain and wind made the zipline operator cancel. We received no partial refund. Canal tour was just OK as we were in the back of the boat and couldn't hear well. Engine noise in back was loud and tour guide did not have a microphone. Whole tour was cut short and no compensation was offered. It was not theirs or our fault for the weather, but we should get a partial refund.

Panama canal cruise stop

I enjoyed the zip lines, however it could have been managed more smoothly so that there wasn't a long wait at each station. We loved the educational parts of the tour, learning about the banana plantations and the canal tour.

Zip Line in Costa Rica

This was a very fun and exhilarating experience! The crew who take care of you are excellent and know exactly what to do and how to keep you safe. We were up in the trees, speeding through the forest. This was the first time I have ever done a zipline, and I would definitely go back to work with these guys.

Amazing Adventure

We had an amazing time zip lining and the river cruise was awesome as well. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone traveling to Puerto Limon. The guide, Stephen, was very knowledgeable and "Mr. Gato", the bus driver, was great at finding sloths in the trees while we were driving. We got to see huge iguanas, monkeys, colorful frogs, and sloths. It was a great experience. The only thing I would recommend to the company, is that they are more specific to the pickup area when you are getting off a ship (cruise). They were outside the gates of the port, not inside.

Zip lining and Canal Tour

This was an excellent tour off our cruise ship. We had scheduled this 3 days prior online,while in another port. Previous day was the Panama Canal so all 5 in our group were tired. Miguel, and driver,met us directly off the cruise ship as we were told we would. Pretty quick ride to the canal tour in a very clean, modern van with 10 people from the ship. Miguel did a great job explaining some history of Costa Rica and local history of the area. Canal tour was interesting with lots of monkeys, some sloths, a caiman, and a variety of birds seen. On the boat we were with another small group on a Greenway tour and both guides and the boat captain worked hard at finding animals and giving us great information. After boat ride we were treated to some fruit. Another short drive to the zip line. The zip lines were fun. Felt very safe. Best thing was while on one platform, looked over a few trees and saw monkeys and a sloth. Very cool. At the zip line we had a 10 year old all the way up to a person who I am guessing was in the their mid-sixties. So all ages can do this. Again, treated to fruit when finished. Their was a very nice bar area (with wi-fi) sit and have a refreshment while waiting for others to finish. A very nice day trip. I feel the best part is that this tour was shorter, 8:00 to 1:30, but really provided a lot of fun. After the previous day I am happy we did not do a trip that involved and hour plus of time driving to a destination.

Great Tour!

Puerto Limon was one of the ports we visited on our cruise and we booked this tour prior to leaving home. I was a little worried since our ship was late getting into port, but our tour guide was waiting at the dock holding a sign with our name. There were 2 other couples on the tour with us. We had a nice air conditioned van. The zip lining was so much fun and we even saw a sloth! We saw monkeys, sloths, iguanas, fruit bats, and many types of birds on the canal boat ride. We also were served fresh fruit after zip lining and the boat ride. Made a stop at a really nice souvenir shop on the way back. So much better than the more expensive tours offered by the cruise ship that had big tour buses and lots of people. Our guide was great and we learned so much about Costa Rica.

<p>Our tour guide did a great job of talking to use about what we were seeing, she was well versed in the animal life and culture. She actually added a short stop at a banana plantation as an extra. This was a high light of our trip. The river tour was amazing and we had so much fun on the zip line.</p>

Zip line & canal tour

Our guide Miguel met us at the cruise port exactly as described in the confirmation email. We met two other couples taking the tour as we were directed to a new air conditioned tour van and met our driver Olden We first headed to the zip lines which took about half an hour of driving. There Miguel quickly arranged for us to move ahead of a large tour bus from the ship that had beat us to the zip lines...nice! There are 13 zip lines very exciting and fun. We saw a couple sloths and monkeys. Then off to the canal for about half hour drive. At the canal we saw bats hanging under a coconut leaves, howler monkeys, iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards, caiman, beautiful butterflies and birds. We all had a great time and highly recommend this tour.

Ziplinen in Puerto Limon

De hele excursie ging op tijd en zoals beloofd. Echter de vriendelijk gids was niet erg pro actief en bracht niet veel informatie over het land.
