It is a small group tour...

It is a small group tour in a comfortable van. Our guide Sue has an extensive knowledge of the island and of Hawaiian history and culture. We had plenty of stops for restroom and photos. The lunch was good (wraps with chicken and with fish), and it was served at a spot with a nice view. I enjoyed this tour very much.

Great afternoon

Absolutely wonderful tour. Loved our guide. He was so knowledgeable about the local vegetation. Stopped and showed us different local trees and fruit. He also stopped on the way back for us to see turtle beach.. It was awesome! Would definitely recommend this tour.

Excellent Road to Hana “cave quest” tour

You can’t go wrong with Temptation Tours. We’ve taken three different tours with them over the years and have enjoyed them all. They take care to hire the best tour guides. This year we took one of the company’s Road to Hana tours. The “cave quest” tour included a delicious lunch and a chance to explore a lava tube. The serpentine Road to Hana is treacherous at times, to say the least, so this is one drive that you shouldn’t attempt on your own. Besides, you would miss out on some very valuable content. Ray was our wonderful guide. He’s the kind of guy that you wish you could hang out with on a regular basis to continue conversing with him. He’s naturally curious and very knowledgeable. I greatly appreciate that he doesn’t sugar-coat the history of Hawai’i just to make it palatable for tourists. His frankness and depth of understanding are truly refreshing. If all you know about Hawai’i is that they have luaus and tiki torches, you need to take this your. You won’t regret it.

Best Road to Hana tour I have been on

This is the 4th or 5th Road to Hana Tour that I have been on. Sue Hopkins was our guide and I don't think she repeated anything that I had heard on any previous tour. She was knowledgeable about the geology, vulcanic action, plants, trees, native wildlife and much more. She was a fantastic guide and we had a great time in spite of having to deal with rain!

Paul Gave His All

Paul Janes-Brown was the most PROFESSIONAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE guide I have ever experienced! My journey was extraordinary because of his OUTSTANDING personality that made me feel that no question was an invasion of his time. I learned so much from him about the island that I feel comfortable with returning and sharing my experience with others. In addition, I felt safe on those winding roads, appreciated his samples of island chocolate, stories about celebrities and music. He is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Gail was exceptional! Her local knowledge combined with her driving skills made for an outstanding day. She knew the best places to stop for photos and managed to get us to them when other tours were elsewhere. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic and educational!

Aloha! My wife, our son and daughter-in-law joined our guide Ernie for a very educational trip to Hana and back. Ernie picked us up at the Grand Walea where we were staying in a very comfortable van. The winding road was an adventure. As we traveled to Hana, Ernie pointed out the various plants and trees and educated us on Hawaiian/ Polynesian culture and history. Ernie has decades of experience in this business. We traveled to the lava tube which we entered and explored then enjoyed lunch which Ernie had waiting for us when we came out of the lava tube (cave). We traveled to Hana and the black sand beach at the State park. We also stopped and was given the opportunity to get in the water at a couple of beautiful waterfalls. Ernie also stopped at the beach where sea turtles galore were resting, some must have weigh 400 pounds. We got our moneys worth from this trip. I highly recommend using Temptation for your tour and ask for Ernie.

Very well worth the money for the tour

This tour was wonderful Gail was very knowledgeable about everything and she was very personable. She was always quick to the rescue for anything we needed along the way. On a scale of one to ten I would rate her as a ten definitely.

Most breathtaking experience

I was a bit apprehensive about this trip because of all the stuff I had heard about the dangerous road. But everyone says it’s a must see… so I booked this private tour with my family. Gail, our tour guide, was phenomenal. Not once did I have anxiety. She was so knowledgeable about all the history and made us laugh on may occasions. She made sure that we had seen everything we wanted and still had us back in plenty of time for our dinner reservations. She assisted us with pictures that we wanted. I have honestly never seen a tour guide more prepared. Everything from snacks, drinks, TP, hand soap, sanitizer, umbrellas, and wipes the windows after every rain occurs CE to make sure we could get optimal pictures. Gail even helped me wrap my knee that was really bothering me. I can not recommend this company enough. Thank you Gail for giving us the most memorable day.

We did a private tour and had an absolute blast! It is so worth spending the money as you get so much history and a more personalized experience! If you get the chance ask for Gayle Shufeldt! She was fantastic and so knowledgeable. Her experience was prominent as she navigated the road which is very tricky. She engaged with locals and truly showed us the Hawaiian way. Her 34 years on the island gives a in depth history of how Hawaii and especially Maui came to be how it is today. Her details on respecting the land and the local culture taught us a whole new level of respect. Gayles attention to timing was huge as we did not get stuck at stops with multiple other tour buses. She found the best times of day to stop and explained her reasoning behind all of it! This attention to detail gave us a better look at the attractions without the crowds! Highly recommend! Incredible tour experience with Ernie!!

My husband and I did the Cave-Quest tour with Ernie and we absolutely loved everything about him and the tour itself!!! Ernie’s knowledge about probably every plant and type of article on Maui and especially during the trip along Road to Hana was fantastic! He was so entertaining, energetic, knowledgeable, and an incredible driver!! I get motion sickness pretty easily and while yes, I still did (inevitably!) with all the twists and turns, Ernie’s driving caused it to be only minor motion sickness. His driving was smooth, safe, and careful! He also had these amazing motion sickness ginger candies that immediately worked and soothed my stomach. The tour we received was beyond our expectations! He answered any questions we had and also wanted us to ask more! The stops on the Road to Hana were gorgeous and were so thankful we got to see 5 amazing places and get all the way to Hana while getting all of this amazing knowledge about what we were driving by. Also, having the opportunity to jump off a waterfall was out of this world!!!! What an experience! We loved this tour and the Road to Hana! Our knowledgeable tour guide Gayle was fantastic and gave us all the tips and tricks for navigating the island. The lava tube and black sand beach were a hit. She made the drive pleasant since she knew how to navigate the roads safely.

Knowledgeable Guide

When I saw the price of this tour I was hoping I would receive value for my money. Halfway through the tour I realized I had already received more! The guide's name was Scottie. He was over the top, absolutely amazing, totally incredible and beyond everyone's expectations. There were 6 people on our tour and everyone expected something different. Scotty provided us all with the tour we hoped we had paid for. He went on to praise all of his fellow tour guides, took incredible photos of all of us and spent extra time to make sure we had pictures of every waterfall, every beach scene, every turtle, every special tree species, and every black black sand beach along the way. Tell everyone you know about this tour. It will be beyond your expectation.

Our Tour Operator Scott gave us a first class experience from start to finish with helpful photo tips and humor to keep everyone happy and in a good mood around all 620 curves along the road to Hana. The guided lava tube experience at Ka’eleku Cavern is unique and other worldly. Book this tour - you won’t regret it even if you’ve driven the road to Hana in the past.

A Must Fo

Our guide Kim Pignatelli was excellent . He gave us lots of interesting info without talking too much Max we had plenty of stops and restroom breaks . He is an excellent driver and we felt totally safe in the van which is v comfortable . Of course the Road to Hana is well worth seeing and the breakfast and lunch restaurants were both v good , particularly the much at The Hana Hotel . This tour isn’t cheap but it worth it

Fantastic Day Trip along the Road to Hana

This tour was a great way to tour the road to Hana, and the guide, Scott Ferguson, did a fantastic job. The day was stress free. Scott provided a lot of information along the way including when and where to snap photos along the way. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to family and friends, and would certainly ask for Scott to be our guide if we book another tour with Temptation Tours.

Road to Hana so much more enjoyable with a great driver/guide

After fortunately deciding not to drive the Road to Hana ourselves, we had the good fortune to have Gayle as our driver and expert guide. Gayle handled the challenges of the road masterfully while providing entertaining background on the area and Hawaii. The sites along the Road to Hana are breathtaking no matter how you see them, but Gayle’s expertise provided the benefits of visiting popular spots at times when other tour groups were less likely to crowd the sites. That provided sufficient time that allowed the 7 persons in our tour group that rode in the very comfortable van to both take in the natural beauty of the Road to Hana and to take photographs. A truly memorable experience over approximately 10&1/2 hours from early morning pickup at our Kaanapali hotel until our dropoff near sunset at the hotel.

A great way to spend a great day!

We made a tour of several islands in our three week trip, and Maui was last. Friends had told us to call these folks for the Hana Road tour because if driving,mtge driver doesn’t get to see much. We took their advice and we’re delighted. The van held six, in very comfy seats with wide windows. Our guide/driver, Gayle , knew lots of things to see that we would never have found. She was very knowledgeable about the area, the history of Hawaii, with lots of anecdotes. She made extra stops so we could all get great photos. And gave us a very good al fresco lunch. It was a long day, but we’ll worth the time!

Don't drive to Hana. Enjoy the fantastic views from comfortable chairs with an entertaining and informative guide

We booked this trip based on Fodors recommendation and were more than pleased. The captain chair seats were comfortable (only six guests per van) and views from the windows were great. Our guide and driver, Gayle, gave detailed, informative, and often humorous explanations of the area, its people, and the history of Hawaii. She knew where to go and when, so to avoid the crowds as much as possible. The waterfalls and beach stops were gorgeous, swimming in the falls was fun (but cold), the lava tube was neat, and the picnic lunch delicious. I had booked the trip the day before as we were preparing to fly to Maui. On the reservation form, I explained my complex food allergy. Within minutes, a pleasant lady called and discussed the ingredients of each menu item in the lunch stop. She explained how they would modify the food, so that I did not need to bring my own food. This was treatment I did not expect and don't often get. I highly recommend Temptation Tours.

Fabulous adventure !!

Amy our tour guide was wonderful! Gave us quite an interesting history of Hawaii The road to Hana was curvy but Amy had me sit up front to help with my motion sickness A wonderful experience was had by all!

Not the typical bus tour

We were on a comfortable bus with only 9 seats. Amy Kreiger was our tour guide. She was knowledgeable, funny and accommodating. In addition, our breakfast and lunch restaurants were excellent. This is not your typical box lunch big bus tour! You won’t be disappointed.

Hana Adventure

A very memorable trip. Our guide, Jimmy, was awesome. So much knowledge. The lunch was delicious and the scenery breathtaking. Glad we didn’t make the drive ourselves.

Luxury Van + Jimmy From Temptation Tours Is The Only Way To Go

My family and I were so excited the state of Hawaii “let us in” a few days before Christmas. Our guide, Jimmy, was terrific while ushering the four of us to Hana and back - safely navigating the road and keeping all of us (even the 14 and 11 year olds) engaged with facts and points of interest along the way. The van was very comfortable and Jimmy was a real delight.

Recommend!

My family and I (6 adults) took the Road to Hana cave tour with Gale on Christmas Eve and it was such a special day! We got really lucky and had flawless weather and little to no traffic thanks to minimal crowds because of Covid. We had a fantastic tour filled with a waterfall dip, homemade banana bread, an hour to explore the black sand beach, time to check out a dark cave in a lava tube and so much more. A small continental breakfast and an awesome white table cloth picnic lunch was provided. Gale was super friendly, funny and was super knowledgeable and passionate about Hawaii and its beautiful history. She was also a very safe driver and really knew the roads which is always good for this type of trip. Gale’s definitely super strict on timing but nevertheless it was nice to get back to the hotel an hour earlier than scheduled. Overall: great tour and highly recommend!

Al was a great guide, he had so much knowledge of the area and provided valuable information about the culture and history of Hawaii; Al was patient, friendly and full of smiles...it was a pleasure to have him take us around; not to mention the Van was very comfortable as well...

Amazing Experience!

We did this tour in November 2019. There were 6 in our family traveling. The van was very comfortable. Gayle was our tour guide and did an amazing job explaining the sites, with historical information along the way. Everyone enjoyed the day very much, and will be a day to remember forever. Couples

The way to see the Road to Hana. The driver Paul was interesting to a point. What moves this from a 5 star to 4 was the non stop talking. Let us take in the sites, no need to ramble on the entire 8 hours. And believe me he did talk the entire time. He made several stops for pictures, but several were on the move thru glass. The van holds 8. One poor person has to sit in the back between two people. For the price that needs to change. Seems like I’m being very negative, but there are some positives. You can enjoy the scenery without driving the road. The driver knows the best places to stop. We had lunch at one of the stops outside served by the driver. All of these make it worthwhile. Could you rent a car and drive it yourself? I guess if you don’t really want to see anything but the road.

Gayle was Great!

Everything about this tour was great from departure to arrival! Staff was wonderful, awesome views and our driver Gayle was AMAZING! She knew the road to Hana like the back of her hand! She knew where to stop to take a photo op, she took the photos for you, she knew how the drive the road which can get very tight sometimes and she was so observant to our needs! My husband had a scratched cornea and she whipped out her first aid kit right away to help! From start to finish, so impressive!

We had a fabulous day spent touring with Sean...all the way to Hana, thru the Hana Cave, stops at the beautiful waterfalls and a swim at the Black Sand beach. What a great day!

The Road to Hana is a must see - rain, waterfalls, rain, beaches, rain, curvy roads and did I mention rain? Temptation Tours offers a terrific drive in, fly out combo that is highly recommended. A three hour one way drive of wonder would be an eight hour ordeal if we toured both directions by car. Our trip was hosted by Scott Ferguson, a long time Maui resident with lots of great stories, great local knowledge, has the photo ops well marked and is very willing to help by taking pictures. Very comfortable luxury van that seats 7 for the ride up. So many sights to see! Doing this on your own would be hard work and you would miss so much. As much as I love a curvy road and a good drive, this road would be real work and the driver would miss so much of the view. And without local knowledge figuring out where it is safe to pull over for a photo is next to impossible. RECOMMENDATION for the passengers- if you are susceptible to motion sickness take a pill - Scott was equipped with ginger candies which were a big help. Stop midway at the Halfway to Hana rest stop and enjoy the banana bread. We were there at 9 AM and the banana bread loaves are hot out of the oven. A quick tour around Hana and then a fabulous stop at WAIʻĀNAPANAPA STATE PARK. Well worth the stop. As great as the drive was and having Scott as our guide was terrific, I couldn’t imagine getting to Hana and then turning around and making the drive back down. So PART 2 of the trip was a welcome change of pace. Drove to Hana airport where we met our helicopter pilot, Tim who took us over the east end of Maui in a Blue Hawaiian helicopter. Tim is a great pilot with such a serene demeanor and a great connection to the island. He flew us through clouds on the volcano slopes and over sparklingly clear and sunny ocean to look for whales. A magical end to a fantastic day. Thanks Scott and Tim for an epic day!
