Confidence and Alex were a great company throughout our trip. They handled our visas for Ghana, they gave us the docuemnts needed for the Nigerian visa, and took us to the best places in the itinerary and attended our needs and interests. They took care of us and made us feel safe. What we saw in those countries was interesting and tough. The slavery tours were mindopening and harsh, but necessary. Benin was very lovely with Ouidah being quaint and religious, the sea was beautiful along the coast.

Wow, this was an amazing trip. Every site was pure magic and Confidence & Alex really made sure the details came together before and during the tour. I’ve traveled in over 100 countries and W Africa has some of the trickiest visas & border crossings I’ve ever experienced. Wonderful Time in West Africa

We had most amazing through West Africa with Confidence and Alex. The hotel recommendations were excellent. Confidence assisted us booking some hotels as some are not available on the U.S. travel web sites. The Visas on arrival in Nigeria and Ghana were done professionally. We need expert guide like Confidence to get us through all the border numerous check points safely. All the food were clean and safe to eat in the hotels recommended by Confidence. We had a wonderful time learning about history, cultures, customs through West Africa. Confidence is the guide that conducted all the tours according to schedule adjusting for the weather. A fabulous tour with a top-notch team

What a wonderful experience we had! Confidence, Vincent and Albert kept us busy with so many fascinating things to see and do, and were very willing to tweak the tour to personalize it for us. They took good care of us, found some great accommodation and delicious food to eat, communicated really well with us along the way, and made sure the quirks of West African bureaucracy were smoothed over. Amazing Tour

I recently completed a tour of west Africa with this company, and it was an amazing time. Confidence provides constant communication leading up to the tour and provides the resources you need to make the trip relaxing, comfortable, and easy. The Nigeria visa process, which can potentially be a nightmare, was very easy and the company arranges for a person to meet you at immigration to help mitigate any problem. The tour focused on both the history of slavery and learning about voodoo practices. Confidence, and the other tour guides, were fantastic and friendly and the transportation was very comfortable. The tour also provides a mix of visits to museums, historical sites, and opportunities for down-time. I added Ivory Coast to the tour, which Confidence was able to arrange another fantastic tour guide. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic West African Insight

Lagos to Accra 8 Day Tour. Firstly Confidence and his team really helped with the visas. I'm an experienced traveller and the entry into Nigeria is the hardest I've ever faced! It kind of set the example for West African bureaucracy, why make it easy when for an extra delay you can ask for a favour!! The hotels were all clean, but the beds were so hard that a plank might be more appropriate though. Alex and then Evans made it all straightforward. This kind of journey wouldn't be possible without their local knowledge and support. Benin was easy after border network delays and Togo easier. Once again we were guided to the best places, and for sheer visual appeal the traditional voodoo market in Lomé will give you haunting memories with an attack on your sense of smell too. Ghana really shares it's history of the slave trade and the Pan-African movement, be prepared to be disturbed. Ucomafrik Tours once again guided you to the murky past. If you are prepared for the bureaucracy this is an amazing insight into West Africa.

An unforgettable journey across 4 countries!

We had the most amazing 8 day journey across West Africa with our guide Confidence (and his colleague Alex for translating and additional information in French-speaking Benin and Togo) Confidence is very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to planning itineraries, places to visit, crossing borders and visas, roads to take, hotels to stay at, local languages, currencies and where functioning ATMs are, typical foods to try (different each day), etc. He is also flexible and knows how to shift plans to get the most out of a visit. Over the course of our trip, we were able to visit Lagos, Badagry, Porto-Novo, Cotonou, Ouidah, Abomey, Togoville, Lomé, Accra, and Cape Coast! Having never been to this region of the world before, it is clear after our trip the major difference that having a talented guide like Confidence makes. As history teachers, we have so much information and new understanding that we will be able to bring back to our students. If you are considering a comprehensive visit to four West African nations, this is a HIGHLY recommended trip!

Best Xmas Ever

Spent a wonderful week with Confidence and his team at UcomeAfrik learning about African art, cuisine, culture & music. The depth and breath of his knowledge on all aspects of African life (including Voodoo traditions, the origins of West African slavery and sights of historical significance) are unrivalled. Border crossings, currency exchange & logistics were faultless owing to his careful pre-planning. Great cultural experience

I had a great time travelling through Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana with Confidence. He was very helpful especially with the border crossings. A fantastic road trip from Nigeia to Togo via Benin with Confidence and his team

I did a 4 day trip from Lagos to Togo via Benin with Confidence and I am so happy to have found his team. The road trip was packed with activities you rarely get to experience unless you know the countries well. West Africa travel by road can be challenging, but also rewarding if you have the right people who can show you this wonderful part of the world. Confidence did just that and more.I had a chance to explore the diverseness of all three countries at my own pace and loved everything I saw. An adventure with friends

Confidence and his crew were all great and made me feel very safe crossing borders of Nigeria, Togo, Benin and Ghana. He also helped with the visas and made that seamless too. He brought a French speaking guide (Alex) for the French speaking countries. Traveling with them felt like traveling with friends more than a tour guide and we were all on an adventure together. We had some challenges- police checkpoints, flat tire, etc. but we resolved it all quickly. Saw some amazing voodoo dancing and had personal interactions with voodoo practitioners. Very interesting experiences that I never could have imagined having even a few months before.

I had a fantastic time touring West Africa with Ucomeafrik. Confidence carefully curated a trip related to my specific interests and intentions going to West Africa. I wanted to visit the countries of my ancestors and learn about their religious practices as well as the slave history. This level of exploration would not have been possible without visiting places few other tourists would venture to go to alone. It became clear that Confidence had confidants in high places allowing for safe passage in regions that were precarious, even to seasoned travelers like myself. Complete tour package of West Africa

I did 8 days tour of Nigeria, Benin, and Togo with Confidence. Not a lot of tour agent options for West Africa on TripAdvisor, so I picked Confidence since he had the most reviews and it was worth it. We covered a lot of things in a week and he's very flexible in adjusting the itinerary however you feel like it. I would recommend him to be your guide in West Africa, something that you should not explore alone (even though I've done plenty of solo trips before). Tip: there might be some delays/unexpected events occurred during your trip in this region, so make sure that your return ticket is flexible.

My Trip to Ghana

I made my first pilgrimage to Africa and it was simply a life changing experience. Confidence made my first time in the Motherland seamless. I traveled solo and any concerns that I may have had were eased by working with Confidence. His knowledge of his Country and Culture made my journey a once in a lifetime experience. I would strongly recommend his services for anyone looking to visit Africa.

Travel with Confidence

I traveled in January 2020, just before COVID hit the world. I met Confidence in Ivory Coast and traveled through that country first. He arranged a driver to pickup my sister in Ghana and the four of us continued to travel through Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. Before I arrived I had to change my itinerary a couple of times and Confidence willingly made the changes I needed to add my sister coming, etc. I was reluctant to pay the entire amount of the tour when I arrived (I had sent over a deposit before I arrived), but we worked out a compromise for paying him as needed to cover costs. As an American I wasn't accustomed to paying 100% up front, so you may want to discuss the payment arrangements with Confidence so you feel comfortable with the needed payments. Evans, Confidence's brother and driver, was a great addition to our group as the roads are totally treacherous in West Africa, and you want to feel safe while you are over there driving to different places! Because I wanted to meet my sponsored child in Ghana while I was there, we had to drive on some very bad roads, and Evans did an excellent job of getting us there safely!! We had a car with Nigerian license plates to make it easier to cross into Nigeria. This smaller vehicle was OK for 4 people, but when we added a French speaking guide in Togo and Benin, it was quite crowded in the back seat with 3 adults. You may want to discuss upgrading to a larger vehicle depending on the number of people in your party. I am so happy to have been able to meet my sponsored child and see extraordinary West Africa! As a travel agent, I have traveled the world and this trip was one of the most memorable!! Confidence and Evans gave us so much insight into life in Africa and we had an awesome time! Also, Confidence's wife is an excellent seamstress and sells the most beautiful African dresses. I asked if she could make me a small dress for my granddaughter and she was able to do this in a couple of days, and I also purchased a few children's shirts out of their beautiful fabrics!

I have hired Confidence twice for trips in West Africa and both were lovely experiences. He makes an intimidating part of the world easy. He was always professional, punctual and personable. Would definitely hire again.

My Review

The actual tours and learning were great. There were a whole lot of hiccups. Definitely spent way more money than the tour was worth. I made specific requests namely, to be a part of a group, go to Ghana and have a nice air conditioned vehicle. 😳 I should have been told before my arrival that Togos border was closed and I could have postponed my trip. Don't wait til I get there. I ended up having to spend yet $615 for flight to Ghana, something that was supposed to be included. I also was taken to a very, very low budget hotel. I had to pay for a hotel upgrade. I never usually hire tour people and will never do it again.

Booking with Confidence was easy and worry free. All we needed for our trip from NYC to Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana was communicated clearly through email correspondence with Confidence, our tour guide extraordinaire. Hotels, visas, transportation driving across 4 West Africa countries, exchanging money, restaurants, museums, tours - was all taken care of AND believe me, we were amazed at all we saw and did during our 10 day vacation with Confidence. Unique and Safe Experience of Western Africa

From the first contact over WhatsApp to dropping me off at the Lagos airport, Confidence and his team were one of the best tour guides I have ever had, and everything was sharp-sharp (when you call/text/WhatsApp Confidence, he will tell you what it means)! Like many people, I was nervous about picking a guide, but Confidence provided five American citizens’ names as references to call. When I called/texted them, they all got back with me quickly, and helped me to know I was in good, safe hands with Confidence. I ended up putting down an 80% deposit, which allowed us to concentrate on the experience! After living in Brazil on assignment with my company for two years as well as growing up in the Southern U.S., I knew I had to visit West Africa to learn about the history and influence it had on two cultures that I love dearly. Confidence tailored a trip, starting by taking me to the African Diaspora festival in Badagary, where they invite Americans (As in North and South America, and Caribbean) whose ancestors were brought over in the slave trade back to walk the path their ancestors took. There are no museum experiences or words to describe the sadness I felt walking the path that slaves walked, or feeling the weight of the chains that were put on them. After the walk, the festival cheered me up, with music, dancing, and masquerades. The people were extremely friendly, and helped to give me hope again. Confidence’s attention to detail, such as keeping my cellphone in his bag, knowing the locals, and even having some cash on hand for people, kept the day smooth and invigorating. We drank some Palm Wine with the locals, and stayed the night. The best activity we attended was Felabration, or an Afro-Beat music festival named in honor of Fela Kuti. When I arrived in Nigeria, I told Confidence I usually don’t stay out late, but the music was so good, I stayed out until 2:30AM! I could see and feel the African roots of Brazilian samba and axé and United States’ blues and funk. One thing I wish I could have done is contacted Confidence earlier. Countries like Brazil and Nigeria have many controls to make sure people are safe, and money is not sent due to Fraud. For example, there is no way to send money to Confidence quickly, as all transactions are researched and can take 5-10 days. Confidence might ask for a large portion of the deposit upfront, and possibly sent to his Ghana account, but this is to insure he can use the money to reserve activit
