Outstanding personalized tour of the Bungle Bungles with lunch and incredible hike to Cathedral Canyon.

Our Aviair flight and small group was met in Purnululu National Park airstrip by our guide Matt. After some homemade biscuits and tea, we set off on a fabulous 4 wheel drive through the park and a 2 hour hike (with a great packed lunch) through the Bungle Bungles- the Domes, Cathedral Gorge and Picanniny Creek. I can’t think of a better place to stop for lunch than the incredible Cathedral Gorge. The scenery is magnificent. Matt was excellent at describing the geological history of the Bungles as well as very knowledgeable of plants, birds, reptiles and other wildlife in the park. Overall, it was an inspiring trip! Since the park was just opening up, there were no other groups that day which made it feel even more remote. We ended the day with refreshments and snacks at the Savannah Lodge before flying back to Kununurra. Next time I would stay at the lodge for a more immersive outback experience. I highly recommend this tour and Matt as the guide. Outstanding!

Bungle Bungles

First small plane experience with Aviair from Kununurra, absolutely amazing views and fantastic knowledge and humour from both pilots. Guided tour and cathedral walk was incredible, JB had great knowledge of the fauna and flora! Overall an amazing experience. I just got on the last tour of the year and so grateful I did!

Exceptional visit to the amazing Bungle Bungles

We did this tour on 1 September. From the start the service was exceptional and friendly. The pilot Mackenzie was very professional and informative. We felt safe in her hands. The guide Gabriel was brilliant. His knowledge and sense of humor made the walk very enjoyable.

A fantastic day in the Bungle Bungles.

What a great day for our guided tour of the Bungle Bungles. We were greeted after our flight by our guides with muffins, tea and coffee. After a bit of a brief we met our guide Gabriel and set off. Gabriel is a local Gidgee ( I hope I got that right) man who was extremely knowledgeable, articulate, entertaining and personable. His knowledge of the geography, flora and fauna of the area was extensive and easy to understand. We learned so much in the few hours he had with us. We would certainly recommend the company and especially Gabriel to anyone contemplating a tour in this area. Gabriel and the staff of Bungle Bungle Guided Tours made our day very memorable for all the right reasons.

OMG the best thing ever. Our guides Mardi and Gabe were incredible. They were so accommodating and their knowledge certainly made the experience. Just do it you won’t regret it. It’s a must. Try and get Mardi and Gabe as your guides 😊

Best time in the Bungle Bungles

It's hard to pick one highlight of our 2 day visit to the Bungle Bungles, staying at Savannah Lodge and doing the Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm walks as it was all so good. The flight in gave such a wonderful view of the Bungles that can't really be appreciated from the ground; the staff at the Lodge were so friendly and attentive; the meals were delicious and cabins were comfortable and well maintained. JB our tour guide for both walks was fantastic with a wealth of knowledge and also, so attentive. We felt well looked after. All in all it was a fabulous experience and certainly a memory to savour.

Must do flight to the Bungles

This was the highlight of our trip so far. Collected by our pilot Harry from El Questro, he flew us to the Bungle Bungles pointing out places on the way imparting many facts and interesting stories relating to the Kimberley. Smooth take-offs and landings. Easy walk into Cathedral Gorge, an amazing landscape that photos don’t do justice, it really is a must see. Our guide Mardi was so informative and so knowledgeable, she and Lucy really looked after our group. Thanks for such a fantastic day.

Unforgettable flight tour of the Bungles Bungles.

The best day out!!

WOW what a fantastic day. Abbey our pilot was super informative and a great pilot. Our guides Gabrielle & JB were also awesome with our guided tour, very informative. Loved every minute of the day, took lots of photos and wonderful memories to take home.

Bungle Bungles and Cathedral Gorge.

Absolutely amazing tour, our initial flight was delayed and we were a little worried it may impact our day, but what it gave us was a more personalised experience with our amazing guide J.B, and with only 6 in our group, made the experience so much better. The fights and pilots were great and very informative however, had trouble hearing the pilot's commentary on the flight back. Only negative I would say is the morning tea with arrowroot biscuits and the lunch was a bit ordinary for the price we paid for the experience.

Amazing tour

This tour was excellent. Lisa and Gabe, a Gidj man, were our guides and they were amazing. Their knowledge was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Lunch was delicious ... frittata and quinoa salad, orange almond cake, fruit nut trail and fruit juice. There was plenty of water and they constantly reminded us to drink plenty. It was an easy walk in 33C and was spectacular. Thanks Gabe, Lisa and all the crew, esp the chef. Sue & Malcolm x

Aviair and Bungle Bungle Guided Tours

We flew on a 12 seater plane with Aviair. The pilot was very knowledgeable about all areas we flew over, including Lake Argyle. The walk was with Bungle Bungle Guided Tours, and our guides were Marnie and Wes. They were terrific guides, both with knowledge andpsion fo he area. We walked into Cathedral Gorge. Beautiful and breathtaking. We had lunch there, sharing some quiet time together. A great experience. Bring a backpack to carry the lunch provided. There's alo plenty of water on hand.

A wonderful day trip to the Bungle Bungles and the Purnululu National Park

We used the company on a trip to the Purnululu National Park on the 21st of May 2023. To say they are outstanding is an understatement ! We completed the walks into Echidna chasm and the Cathedral Gorge, with a guide known as a JB He was exceptional as was the companies organisation has everything went like clockwork. We started in Kununurra with Aviair Airlines and had a lovely informative flight down. We were met at the airstrip by JB, and given a light breakfast before departing for the first of our walks. At all times JB was very careful that everybody was able to complete the walks successfully. I could not recommend this company more highly

Truly stunning Cathedral Gorge & Bungle Bungles

Absolutely stunning visit to Purnululu National Park, home of the Bungle Bungles, 360 million old sandstone. Aviar very knowledgeable about the Kimberley region, HeliSpirit pilots took great care in preparing us for a truly amazing 500ft view over the gorges & domes of the Bungles, then flew back to KNX over Lake Argyle & restoration of the Diamond mine. You need to fly the Bungles….

Most people, approx 220,000 a year, fly over the Bungles for a short flight and this is certainly a must do 👏 However to get the real,perspective you need to complement this with a days hiking. Yes, it’s remote and hard to access but the sense of awe you get from the flight is only exaggerated by an on the ground visit. Be one of the 25,000pa to hike as well and feel the total magnificence of thecBungle Bungles

The unique and stunningly beautiful Bungle Bungles

This flight over the Ord River, Lake Argyll and the Bunggle Bungles was superb. The pilot Emma was skilful in her manoeuvring of the plane to ensure we all had fantastic view of the magnificent landscape. After landing in the Bungles we started our walk through the outstandingly beautiful environment towards Cathedral Gorge. This site is awe inspiring. An absolutely stunning and serene space. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and finished our walk with afternoon tea followed by another fabulous flight back to Kununurra. Our tour guide for the walk was Lachie and he was a considerate and extremely knowledgeable tour leader. I appreciate that this tour will seem expensive but the Bungle Bungles are very remote and the tour iprovides a unique opportunity for immersion in this area of outstanding and unique beauty.

Range is beautiful, flight is incredible but the guided walk was disappointing

My family recently did this tour on the same day as my sister. We were however in separate groups. Our guide was Cheryl; their guides were Ivan and Jethro. Although ostensibly the same tour, our experiences could not be more different. Our walk was a stroll to Cathedral Gorge with a peek down Piccaninny Gorge. My sister's group also went to the Lookout and Whipsnake Gorge and were shown rock art right near Cathedral Gorge. Jethro also spoke at length about the plants etc. from an indigenous perspective. Because we did so very little (not even the 400 m G Domes walk en route), we spent 15 mins in the car park doing nothing and then another hour at the Savannah Lodge having a cuppa and doing nothing! We didn't pay all that money to get to the BB Range and do nothing. It was so disappointing. On the plus side, the Aviair flight with Lachie was interesting and magnificent. And of course the ranges are awe inspiring. I just cannot recommend the guided walk part especially knowing the other group got so much more out of it.

An amaking day out!

From the beginning the tour was so well organised & professional. We were picked up from our accommodation exactly on time. Once at the airport a general introductory talk with video and safety instructions. The pilot pointed out things of interest during the flight. Once in Purnululu National Park we boarded a 4 x 4 bus & we’re taken to the southern part of the Bungles. A walk from there to Cathedral Gorge with our guide Ivan. Stunning! So beautiful. The afternoon was to the northern end & a walk into the Echidna Chasm. Again, stunning. I feel so privileged to have seen this beautiful country. Thank you Aviair & Bungle Bungle guided tours.

Not a Bungle!

We booked the Aviair Bungle Bungles Wanderers through the Kununurra Tourist Information Centre. It was good. We were collected from our accomodation and flew over many sights in our Cessna fixed wing roughly 14 seater plane with pilot Brent at the controls. He gave quality historical and regional commentary and took us over the Ord river scheme and Durack homestead now a dive site during the dry season! We joined our tour guides Dooma and Purnululu First Nations guide Jethro. We walked the 3km round trip to Cathedral Gorge in significant heat, with a photo opportunity to where the choir performed I Still Australia Home. Beautiful. Rock art and bush plants described quietly by Jethro. I would’ve loved to hear more about the First Nations story and experience of this wonderful wonderful country - the current connections with country, bush medicines and other cultural aspects and observations that were mentioned just in passing. I think overseas visitors would also appreciate much more insight into First Nations history as really it is obviously an ancient land with an ancient past with a continuing relationship that should not be denied. How lucky are we to have access to such amazing country! Some of the geology information clashed with the information we had received elsewhere eg. The reasons for the orange and black stripes. That needs to be ironed out and a deeper more scientific description given. I think the participants are up for it. The care taken by Dooma and Jethro, particularly for those of us not so sporty and strong, was just great. Plenty of much needed water and great food too! Safe hands. Our return pilot Will gave us a wonderful view of the Argyle Diamond site and others. All up, a big experience. We slept well last night!

Great tour

A very good day out of kununurra. The flights and tour of the Bungle Bungle national Park was excellent. Our guide Ivan was very knowledgeable and his attention to detail was impressive. A big thanks to the whole team. Do it, you will not forget this tour.

Fantastic day. Flight was unreal, looking down at Lake Argyle and the Bungle Bungles. Hike to Cathedral Gorge not too hard and gorgeous once you got there. Our guides were friendly and informative. Gabe was so endearing and knowledgeable. Well worth the money. 😊

Outstanding - a must do

We have recently done the Bungle Bungle Wanderer tour which incorporated an Aviair flight from Kununurra. It was an outstanding tour, made essentially memorable by the staff Will, the Aviair pilot was knowledgeable and engaging. He is also a great pilot. The actual tour, led by Gabriel and Chris was superb. They are both friendly and eager to please. Chris is a great organiser and kept us fully informed and entertained. Gab has a brilliant knowledge of the area and a wonderful sense of humour. They combined so well to make it a memorable day. Well done

Aviair All Day Tour - Bungle Bungles, Domes, Cathedral Gorge and Echnida Chasm

We were picked up from our Kununurra accommodation at 5.15am and driven to their private airstrip, they were fantastic and had masks for everyone for the flight and a bottle of water if you wanted it. Rhys flew us out to the Bungle Bungles and he was probably the best pilot we’ve ever had, I am not great at flying but he was excellent. He flew over the Bungle Bungles and Lake Argyle allowing time for good photos. We then had Pete our guide welcome us to Purnululu National Park, we were given a burrito for breakfast at the airstrip then we drove to the domes section of the Park, took a 3 km walk (round trip) into the Cathedral Gorge which was breathtaking, had around half an hour there with a muffin for morning tea. Pete provided excellent information along the way and showed some rock paintings. We then drove for around 1.5 hours to the North end of the Park to the Echidna Chasm. The walk in was fantastic, the light at that time of the day was just perfect and we ate lunch half way into the Chasm which was really special. The lunch was excellent- all the food on the tours has been fantastic. We then drove to the Savanna Lodge dropped some of the guests off there who were staying over. Had fruit and tea/coffee for afternoon tea. Then onto a lookout which was great and then to the airport. Flight back circled over the Bungle Bungles again and also the Argyle Diamond mine. Back to the hotel around 5.30pm. Brilliant all day tour, got to see everything from the land and sky without stressing about breaking down, highly recommend. Pete was just brilliant as a guide, very passionate, excellent driver.

Amazing company to deal with

These guys were amazing. 2 days into our holiday and the borders started to close. They allowed me to change my tour to a different day and a cheaper tour with refund. Then the WA government closed the border completely to NSW tourists and at that short notice I had to cancel completely and they provided a FULL refund immediately. No stress no anxiety. So caring, professional and compassionate. I have found to my considerable cost ($ thousands) other unscrupulous operators keep the money, and happily resell the tickets I hope to use these guys again. They were brilliant in my hour of need Tony

Great tour. Tom from Aviair was professional, personable and informative. The scenic flight was amazing. Then Mick from Bungle bungles guided tours took us on a guided walk to cathedral cave. He could not have been more pleasant, helpful or informative. Included lunch was delicious. Not cheap but a great day out. Includes pick up and drop off from accommodation in Kununurra.

Another Incredible Day in the Kimberleys

I had no idea what “Bungle Bungle” meant or what it even looked like until this day. We booked an Aviair scenic flight and once again our wonderful pilots Mark and Harry did a fantastic job. Both of the pilots have so much knowledge of the area and they did their utmost to make sure each and every passenger got to see the scenery no matter what side of the plane you sat on. The view from up above the Bungle Bungles is just amazing. Once we arrived at Purnululu National Park we were greeted by our guides, Kolya (LT) and Luke, they both guided us through the national park on foot. LT is so passionate and knowledgeable about his culture. We really loved hearing his stories and he also has a very funny personality. He loves to tell a joke or two as well. He and Luke make up an awesome team. We stopped at Cathedral Gorge to have a picnic lunch and then prior to the flight back home I took a fantastic 18 min helicopter flight over the beehive shaped domes and Piccaninny Creek. Thank you so very much to my pilot, Jai and to Kobi and Laura at the airstrip who was able to set this up for me as I had not pre booked the chopper flight. All staff have been absolutely amazing no matter where we have travelled in the region.

Guided walks

We recently did the flight from Kununurra, stayed at the Bungle Bungles lodge for two nights and did gorge walks on both days. First day we did the Mini Palms and Echidna walks and the second day did the Domes and Cathedral walks. Our guides were Dave and Kolya and were fantastic. Dave did the talking on day 1 and Kayla on the second. Both guides were great. Their knowledge of the areas was extensive. They were very helpful and caring to all of us. The walks are fantastic and if you happen to get these guys you won’t be disappointed.

Magnificent Day

Recently stayed in Kununurra and did the Bungle Bungle Flight and guided walk to Cathedral Gorge. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Our pilot Harry from Aviair was great. Very informative. The landscape from the air was stunning. Our guides on the walk were Mick, Jimmy& Collier who were very professional, helpful and friendly. All were very knowledgeable and respectful of the land we were walking on. Cathedral Gorge was beautiful as was the walk into it. What a beautiful area. Thankyou to all involved in making this day so memorable

You have to do this one...

My partner and I hoped to drive into The Bungle Bungle but after speaking to people who had attempted it, were put off. Found this tour and thought we would treat ourselves...pleased to say that we were more than pleased with our decision. We were picked up from our caravan park at 5.15am. So glad they had the early start bc it was very hot in the park. Cold bottled water was provided although I'm glad we had our own as well. Take off and landing was very smooth...thanks James. On landing, we were treated to toasted egg and bacon sandwiches, muffins and coffee. The 4WD bus which took us into the park was very comfortable. The scenery was amazing, Mick the guide was a very enthusiatic guide explaining the geology and other interesting information about indigenous use of plants and the amazing behaviour of some of the insects. His offsider Luke helped out a couple who were a little overwhelmed by the heat. Mick reminded us constantly to keep drinking water... We were provided with lunch in a cooler bag which we had to carry with us on the walk. We then got to eat our lunch in the cool of the amazing Catherdral Gorge with plenty of time to take heaps of photos. Afternoon tea was provided back at the tour company's camping ground before we got back on the plane. James, the pilot, ensured that both sides of the plane got great views of the gorges and the Argyle Diamond mine on the way home. All in all, a great day out...

Stunning, informative and a lot of fun!

I was staying in Kununurra for work and found myself with a free day so rang and booked this trip spur of the moment. I'm so glad I did. It was very organised, professional and friendly – from the people who picked me up, the check-in staff, the pilot and the guides, Mick and Collier, everyone was wonderful. The flight was great with interesting – and not intrusive – commentary and the walk was exceptional. Mick and Collier were our guides and looked after everyone on the trek. The morning and afternoon teas were great, with scrumptious home-made cake and the packed lunch was delicious, including water, fruit and juice. Mick was the head guide and he was knowledgeable, professional and friendly, making sure everyone was looked after and putting everyone at ease. There were quite a few of us on the tour but it never felt crowded. What impressed me was the respect for local Gija culture and Mick's acknowledgement and thanks for being on Gija land. Collier, a local Gija man was wonderful and he gave us great insights into Gija culture and the environment. It would have been great to learn more about the significance of Purnululu in Gija and Jaru cultures, but for an introduction to this huge area, it was great. Thanks to everyone involved, I enjoyed the day so much and will never forget the beauty of this area.

Hike into the Bungle Bungles

My wife and I flew Aviair from Kununurra to the Bungle Bungles landing strip, where our guide, Mick, met us and drove us into the Bungle Bungles. We did a 3+ Km round trip hike into Cathedral Gorge. Mick is very personable and knowledgeable, and made our hike with him a thoroughly enjoyable day.

2018 WA visit

We included this into our itinerary and was the most amazing day we have had. Our guides, Mick and Tyson, were excellent. The scenery was stunning and we were looked after so well by everyone. Thank you all. NOT TO BE MISSED.

What an amazing experience both of our guides today were excellent with a great deal of knowledge about all aspects of the area. Would recommend going and doing the tour.

Brilliant day

We took a day trip from Kununurra to the Bungle Bungles organised by BBGT. The booking process was straightforward and we got exactly the tour we wanted. On the day we were picked up early from our hotel in a bus driven by the pilot. The flight south took about an hour including detours and commentary on points of interest. It was friendly, professional and fun. On arrival at about 7.00 we were met by Collier and David, our guides for the day, and went straight off to start our tour. We went first to the Cathedral Gorge and then, after about an hour's drive, the Echidna chasm. There was a fair bit of walking involved - we probably covered about 8km altogether - but the views and the informative and friendly chatter along the way from Collier and David were a major part of what made the day such a success. Most of the walking was pretty easy, although there were a few short scrambles. The gorge and the chasm were both fabulous and very different from each other - I would thoroughly recommend visits to them both. Throughout our day we were looked after brilliantly by the BBGT team. Collier and David are excellent guides - their passion for their countryside evident, their differing skills and backgrounds complimentary. They looked after us with great care all day, carrying water and an almost absurdly thorough emergency kit and regularly checking how we were dealing with the heat. They are backed by an excellent team - a winning combination of first class equipment and dedicated staff. Great food, ice cold water (all day) and the warmest hospitality. Above everything though it was the passion for the place shown by everybody we met that made the difference and enabled us to get the best possible taste of this amazing place. The tour was not cheap, but nevertheless great value. I'd thoroughly recommend it.
