Kolkata revisited after 62 years!

I searched for tours of Kolkata and discovered Muzaffar’s tours which had excellent reviews. I got in touch via WhatsApp and he responded immediately. It was important for me to see specific sites as I was born in Kolkata and was returning after 62 years so wanted to visit all the main sites but also ones specific to when I lived there. Muzaffar was happy to include any places I wanted to visit so I booked. My adult daughter and I were picked up punctually from our hotel in a very comfortable a/c SUV. Bottled water was supplied and delicious snacks and very good Indian coffee at the Indian Coffee Shop - a must stop. A lovely touch was being bought the poet Gitanjsli’s small book of poetry with the original Bengali on one page and English translation on the other. Also a beautiful bouquet each from the flower market. Muzaffar was very knowledgeable on Kolkata and went out of his way to find the address where I lived as a young child which really made the tour. He also took us to Nizams restaurant, the inventors of the kati roll - absolutely delicious. We did the 8 hr tour which overran to accommodate some of the places I wanted to visit. I have no hesitation in recommending Muzaffar and his driver who looked after us and gave us an exceptional tour of Kolkata. Thank you Muzaffar.

A great way to see lots of the city in just one day

We saw so much of the city in one day, including places we would unlikely have visited on our own such as the flower market and pottery area. We loved every single place on the tour, even though they were very different. Shormita was a knowledgeable and engaging guide and was passionate about this history and culture of the city.

An Incredible Way to Experience Kolkata!

I cannot recommend this tour more highly, as it's a great way to see Kolkata's highlights. Although I only spent three days in Kolkata, I left there feeling like I really knew the place I'd visited thanks to this tour. Muzaffar is extremely welcoming, accommodating, and knowledgeable about Kolkata. He kindly greeted me with snacks and plenty of water to help me push through the summer heat. I appreciated his willingness to indulge my curious questions and adapt to my needs, like spending more time at the Victoria Memorial or helping me find a phone charger at a local market when mine broke. Having just returned from traveling Asia for nearly a month, I can easily say that Muzzaffar was one of my best tour guides I've had! I also appreciate his driver's timely, door-to-door service and deft ability to navigate Kolkata's traffic. (Regrettably, I don't remember his name.) Thanks again for a wonderful tour! I hope to revisit Kolkata someday and will be sure to reach out if I do.

Cultural & historical experience in Kolkata

Funtastic Glimpses of Kolkatta

Though the city was in the midst of a heat wave (it rained the next day), my first visit to Kolkatta was super cool and comprehensive, thanks to the enthusiasm, knowledge and courtesy of Muzzafar Khan. We covered most of our itinerary, winding our way through crowded streets and markets due to his easy expertise. He truly knows Kolkatta,  and more than that, his passion about the city comes through when he shares anecdotes about its rich colonial past or about its culturally vibrant present.  Would recommend his guided tour to anyone who is looking for a comprehensive introduction to this city, get a real feel of  its rhythm and flow in a short time.

A fascinating experience of flowers, statue making and much more

A fascinating tour of some of Kolkata's sights. I especially loved the flower market and the pottery quarter, which were full of life, colour and interest. Aditi was a great guide, knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was just a pity that bad traffic meant some things were missed, but not something that can be planned for.

The buildings the British left behind in Kolkata

I had a wonderful tour round Kolkata on Monday 12th February 2024 with my excellent guide Muzaffar Khan. His knowledge of the area is extensive and I learnt so much from him about the British influence in Kolkata. I enjoyed seeing the old colonial buildings and also all the other places he took me especially Mother Theresa’s house. authentic introduction to Kolkata

Muzaffar provided our family (2 adults, 2 grade school kids) with a fantastic tour through the bustling Kolkata cityscape. Everything from pre-tour communications through the post-tour drop-off was seamless. Kolkata can seem like an overwhelming city to get through, especially when you're taking two kids (7 and 10) along for the duration of the tour. Muzaffar and the driver, however, made it seem effortless. He explained every site we visited and sprinkled his tour insights with his own observations on modern India within the context of the tour. His commentary was appropriated tailored to both the adults and the kids in our family, and we felt that it really gave us authentic insights into the history and modern evolution of Kolkata. This is what a quintessential tour should be. The tour also picked us up from one hotel with all of our luggage and dropped us off at a different hotel on the other side of town to accommodate our own itinerary.

Busy day indeed. Had a good glimpse of Calcutta’s past. Pretty derelict structures. No buildings or history of Calcutta from Indian point of view.

An Excellent Tour

With only one day to explore the sites of Kolkata, I decided to take a full-day tour of the city. It was my good fortune to connect with tour guide, Muzaffar Khan. Mr. Khan is a fifth-generation resident of Kolkata who is intimately familiar with the sites, culture, and history of this amazing city. Muzaffar is very personable and engaging. He provided a wealth of information and context for the many historical sites we visited. He also was most accommodating and adjusted our schedule to include a stop by Kalighat Kali Temple based on our personal interest, as well as providing advice about navigating the temple throngs. I could not recommend him as a tour guide more highly. I will make sure any of my friends who visit Kolkata take a tour with Muzaffar.

The best tour in Kolkata!

Muzaffar is truly the best! On the tour side, he is extremely knowledgeable about Kolkata and all the places we visited. I loved asking questions to dig more deeply into history and culture. Adding on the food tasting option was the right choice, too! On the personal end, I am travelling with my brother, who unfortunately fell prey to “Delhi Belly” from the previous night. And wasn’t able to complete the tour with me. Muzaffar showed genuine compassion and quickly made the needed arrangements to get my brother back to the hotel and continued the tour with just me. He even checked in on my brother this morning. Although it didn’t go as planned for my poor brother, I had an incredible experience and saw parts of Kolkata I wouldn’t have found on my own. It was worth every penny, step, and deliciousness along the way!

Best tour I had in India!

Mr. Khan was an amazing guide. He was a font of knowledge about Kolkata, and Indian history. His stories were so engaging. We visited both the well known and lesser known sites, which were a delightful surprise. The visit to South Park Street Cemetery and Kumartoli, potters quarter were fascinating. We had wonder coffee and a snack at the Indian Coffee House. We walked into the bustling flower market which was huge. Howrah Bridge was a wonder with the number of people walking on the bridge. If you are Kolkata, I would highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful way to experience Kolkata

Muzaffar was an excellent guide and this tour was the perfect way to experience Kolkata on my first day of arrival! The tour covered many different areas from famous landmarks such as Victoria Monument to local experiences such as walking through the flower market and sitting down to coffee at the India Coffee House. With our own private car, we were able to move throughout the city in a safe, efficient and comfortable manner. Muzaffar went above and beyond to craft an amazing experience for us, from taking pictures at every stop to teaching us Hindi phrases to giving us sweets to take home. The biggest value of the tour was in Muzaffar’s extensive local and historical knowledge of the area, we learned so much about the history of Kolkata peppered with anecdotes and delivered in a professional, warm manner. 5 stars and a must-do for first timers to Kolkata!

Phenomenal tour for Westerners and native Indians as well!

We had a wonderful whirlwind day with Muzaffar. We were traveling as 4 adults and 2 children under 10. Muzzaffar customized our itinerary to hold everyone's attention, even the 6 year old. We added a couple of unexpected stops and he was very accommodating. The entire time we were shepherded around in a comfortable car with great AC. He also planned the trip so we ran into minimal traffic and had easily available parking. We were safe, entertained and learned so much about Kolkata. Truly an excellent experience we are recommending to our friends that will visit Kolkata in the future. As another side note, he is very good at the tour customization. 2 of our party were native Bengalis and even they were blown away and learned a ton of new history.

A guide who makes you fall in love with Kolkata

We are a couple from Austria who came for a short visit of Kalkota. Our expectations regarding the city very modest but the day we spent with our guide Muzaffar Khan in a lengthy and very detailed tour made us fall in love with this town. Mr Khan does have both an intricate knowledge of Kiolkata's history and culture but also a charming personality that let the day fly away. We highly recommend him for everyone who really wants to experience this "City of Joy".

Excellent well-rounded experience

Muzaffar is an informative guide and excellent companion for our day in Kolkata. He has great knowledge of the city and explains the significance of the sights with great ease and passion. He has a wonderful personality and can connect on a more personal level than just a paid guide. On the tour he showed both historical sights as well as interesting unique cultural sights. He explains things in easy to understand English.He speaks English that is easy to understand even for Japanese people. It was hot on the day I visited, but they always took care of me. He took many photos at memorable places. Excellent guide Muzaffar was a star attraction of this very memorable tour.

My guide Muzaffar was excellent and tailored my tour according to an itinerary I had suggested to include additional photogenic sights such as Dashshinewar Kali Temple,Belur Math and Nakhoda Mesjid. He was a fountain of knowledge of the sights I visited and although I had researched them beforehand on Wikipedia, he added a lot more insight. An example was the Dashshinewar Temple being the birth place of the infamous Hari Krishna worldwide movement of the 1960's and 1970's. He also organised a local Sim card that had been activated and ready to use upon pick-up during the tour. I cannot speak highly enough of Muzaffar for his knowledge, his insights of life in Calcutta and his willingness to adapt the tour to my interests. We were very lucky to take the tour on a Sunday as the traffic was minimal,cutting off three hours of travel time between the locations visited.

I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Kolkata! Muzaffar picked me up from the airport and took me to all the major attractions. I commend his in depth knowledge of city and its history. Most importantly, I felt safe as a female solo traveller throughout this tour. I recommend doing this tour and then spending a night in the city as there are so many attractions to see.

Great tour

The tour was very informative. Muzafaar is very knowledgeable and friendly. His driver did a great job getting us around the city on a day that a major rally brought huge crowds into the city. While they has to change their usual order they made sure I saw all of the sites that were open (one closed due to the rally). Muzaffar also took many pictures for me throughout the tour.

Little bit of everything

Had a wonderful time exploring Kolkata. I was picked up promptly at my hotel at 7:00am. It was nice to start the day early to avoid the heat and crowds. I got to see so much of the city. Muzaffar is so knowledgeable about Kolkata and his passion for the city shows. So glad I did this tour. I highly recommended it for anyone looking to see a little bit of everything Kolkata has to offer.

Fantastic tour of the major sights in Kolkata

My tour in Kolkata was fantastic, I felt like I saw all the major sights of the city in a single day. Muzaffar also helped me get a SIM card set up which was a real help. The tour was well constructed to pack in as much as possible without feeling overwhelming and built in stops for food at notable and representative places for Bengali cuisine. Really can't recommend it enough. One of my most favorite tours of the trip.

Awesome tour of Kolkata!

I had an 8 hour layover in Kolkata, and luckily I found Muzaffar's service online. He is clearly very knowledgable and enthusiastic about his city, and he was my favorite guide in India (a three week trip) even thought it was only for the day. Starting with a prompt pickup at the airport 10a - Muzaffar brought me all over the hustle and bustle that is Kolkata. I didn't feel rushed at all, and got to spend time at all of the landmarks throughout the city, and even enjoyed a final lunch in India (my next flight was the leg home after three weeks touring). Pre-booking, he was extremely responsive as well, which was important since this all had to be time coordinated precisely. We finished up with a cup of coffee, on this 100 degree day, and then back to the airport by 6p. I'm sad I couldn't spend more time here, but Muzaffar made every second count!

Great guide, wonderful tour

A guide can make you love or hate a city. Muzaffer is absolutely the one person who can make you love any place. When I started planning the Kolkata trip, I got in touch with 3 agents. Muzaffer was the best one amongst them, responsive, prompt and understanding. And once we met in person, I realized he is the exact person who I was looking for. We spent hours together on city tour, he told us the wonderful history, showed us great places, literally fed us with great food... And please consider it was over 40 degrees, hot, humid, suffocating weather and even my husband did not complain for a second. Book a tour or more with Muzaffer, you will never regret it.

We really enjoyed our Kolkata day tour with Muzaffar, we not only got to explore the amazing sights the city has to offer but absorbed it's culture through unique experiences that regular tours do not offer. We felt we experienced the city through each of our senses from sight, sound, touch, smell and taste and created memories that will last a life time. Best Tour Ever

My experience started with an email to Mr. Khan. I was traveling to Kolkata to experience the city and my family history along with my teens. As the sole female adult, and not knowing the language, I would be completely dependent on the guide. My choice of Mr Khan was the right choice. He is the owner of the agency and does the tours personally. He customized my itinerary including things I wanted and suggested things he thought we’d like. He was very knowledgeable and took us around the city and monuments with a sense of pride for his city. After experiencing several tour guides throughout India, Mr Khan was our favorite. I wish we had used him for other cities as he travels and does tours of other places also. We will definitely do this next time. I have copied this review for the other Kolkata tours as he was our tour guide for 2 full days walking and driving around the city, exploring monuments, and eating local food (with no stomach issues).

Superb day

Really enjoyed our day with Muzaffar, he was excellent. From beforehand via email sorting our our plans, making some changes and also helping us with airport transfers. And then to the day itself, engaging, fun, informative and really helpful. We had such a good day...be prepared for the traffic and trying to get around a city of 15 million people, but Muzaffar makes the journeys interesting and open for questions etc. He has a real passion for Kolkata whilst also being really honest about the pluses and minuses. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Muzaffar.
