Ghyll Scrambling Water Adventure in the Lake District

Brilliant experience

First time doing anything like this and it took us well out of our comfort zone! It was challenging and rewarding and we each felt a huge sense of accomplishment at the end. There were 6 in our group with ages ranging between 8 and 50. We can't wait to book our next adventure.

Brilliant

Our instructor, Woody, was brilliant. Really enjoyed the full experience. Coached confidently throughout the day. Would definitely recommend it. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing the photos taken.

Highly Recommend!

First off a huge thank you to Andy our instructor, he was friendly, very experienced, pitched the day perfectly for us and takes amazing photos! This had to be one of the best experiences with my boys, so far, and we've had a few! At 8 and 14 they lapped up the challenges, and as a mum, more importantly, I felt confident that they were safe, that was all down to Andy too :) Highly recommend this company, trip and Andy, my boys are still talking about it and him! Some tips, be prepared to get a little cold, even in good weather, and very wet, head to toe! Take decent shoes and big towels to change under, you are on a car park in the middle of no where! It can be as hard or easy as you want to make it.

Ghyll scrambling blast!

Great experience Ghyll Scrambling with instructor Adam. I did the activity my my 12 year old daughter and Adam was great at encouraging her her whilst at the same time making sure she was safe at all times.

Great morning on the Ghyll

A great morning activity. Mobile Adventure were amazing, they communicated with us promptly about changes due to weather and when, where to meet. Our instructors (Adam & J) were brilliant and made the activity even better. We were 2 x groups of 11 people, including adults and young people (aged 14 to 17). Would recommend and will be back next summer.

Great experience

Scrambling at Stonycroft was amazing-really good fun & challenging at times, always an option to take an easier route which was welcomed! Beautiful, clear water and a chance to appreciate nature in the Lakes close up. Great experience and a fun & knowledgeable guide- thank you Woody!

Fun, and a good laugh as a group of lads!

We had great morning with the Mobile Adventure guides, doing canyoning at Church Beck, Coniston. The lads were very clear with instructions so everyone was safe and it was a great way to spend a stag do morning.

A great day out in the Lakes

I took my three daughters scrambling last week. It was excellent. John was a great guide, clearly explaining each section as we slid, jumped and scrambled down the stream Brilliant experience for us all. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Would thoroughly recommend the experience, exciting and fun throughout

WOW! So much fun!

Absolutely brilliant fun and superb value for money. Me, my wife and our 10 yr old daughter all enjoyed it. Adam was a fab leader, took some great photos (free of charge) and we did a great range of pool jumping, sliding, belly flopping and scrambling. Very refreshing. Don’t hesitate, just book it (it’s better than Go Ape!)

Great family adventure

We had an amazing time! It was such a fun family adventure for our family ranging in age 16-54 years. Adam was knowledgeable both about the area and the stream we were coming down. He gave us choices about different level of challenges, and we had a glorious time trying his challenges! He gave us loads of amazing pictures to take home. It was our favorite activity during our holiday.

Amazing, exhilarating experience

This is our second time using Mobile Adventures for ghyll scrambling. The communication from John was excellent, and Ross, our instructor was fantastic. He was great with the kids and really encouraged them all. Highly recommend.

Fun family adventure!

This was a really fun adventure sliding and jumping off rocks. We had a wonderful guide Adam who was so knowledgeable about how to do everything safely and well. This was our favorite activity in England and really highlighted Lake District’s inherent beauty and resources

A fab afternoon of family fun and adventure, with a great instructor!

We had an absolutely amazing 3 hour session clambering among the stream boulders, sliding down rock chutes and throwing ourselves into pools. The first part of this session was getting kitted up with the wetsuits, helmets etc that they provide, then it's a short 15 minute climb up to the start of the adventure. Our family, two in our 40s, one 13 year old and one 8 year old each found it a perfect level of challenge and entertainment. Ross, our instructor, explained how we should go down each section clearly, to avoid injury, and demonstrated it first. There were 12 in our group but no one felt rushed and everyone did each part of the stream at their own pace. Ross was good with the young and old alike, and was encouraging to those who found some areas out of their comfort zone. Where there were more difficult sections, such as the 2m jump injury a pool, Ross gave various ways (levels) this could be done, and also offered the option of walking round the path to a lower section of people wanted (not that anyone took this option)! 😂 Ross took some good photos of us all, which we were able to download after the event. I highly recommend this for anyone with a sense of fun and adventure! I highly recommend

Great fun

Very likeable instructor, fun activity and waterproof clothing provided. Water isn't too cold so not a problem if people are afraid of catching a cold!

Great instructor, great...

Great instructor, great fun! Quite easy activity even for inexperienced individuals. Fun getting wet and water was surprisingly "not-too-cold".

An amazing experience!

We had a great time Ghyll scrambling from start to finish, the activity was very well organised and we felt safe during all of the slides, jumps and scrambles. Our instructor Andy was great, he was really chatty, informative and ensured we had fun throughout. There were also lots of opportunities for pictures during the activity.

A brilliant morning Scrambling...

A brilliant morning with the Mobile adventure team. Great organisation and communication before, during and after. On the day, our instructor Andy, looked after us - explained everything thoroughly and talked us through the scrambling. We've used these guys before in previous years and they've never disappointed.

Esk Gorge

My sister and I had a fabulous day on the Esk Gorge trip. I don’t think I stopped smiling all day. Thank you for looking after us and for the warm kit!

Great day out 👍

Great day out, really enjoyed it all. Lovely location, instructor/guide was informative and knowledgeable about whole area. We were only a small group in between larger groups but felt no rush to get past any obstacles and after a few minutes it was if you are on your own.

Ghyll scrambling with 20 young 12 year olds

John took our u12s rugby team ghyll scrambling and they all absolutely loved it. Said it was the best day ever! Even the less confident of the group were encouraged and supported and managed to do it all with smiles on their face

Loved it!

We went ghyll scrambling in Stonycroft ghyll and our instructor was Woody. We had young children in the group, aged 5 and 9, and Woody was fantastic with the kids but ensured adults had more of a challenge too. Woody was really friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel like we were in safe hands. He also took photos of us along the way which were great to took back on and show others what the experience was like! We had so much fun and I would 100% recommend this trip.

100% Recommended!!!

We had a superb afternoon in the snow-peaked hills...perfect conditions for ghyll scrambling. Our instructor, Ross, was brilliant and maintained the safety of our group whilst ensuring we all had a great laugh. There was supposed to be more of our group attending the activity, but they chickened out cos of the weather. Believe me, when we returned to camp and told them all about it they were gutted! All communication with John (the owner, I think), in the run up to the day was excellent. I'd definitely use Mobile Adventure again and would highly recommend them. Finally, any photos of this activity will not do it justice...it's even better!

Best day ever

What a thoroughly fantastic experience from start to finish. I was so nervous but Woody made us feel at ease and took great care of us. He was very knowledgeable. It was fantastic. We would both recommend this experience and I think we will be back.

Amazing day

What an incredible day we had so much fun! Laughed pretty much nonstop the whole time! Would definitely recommend it! The instructor John explained everything and showed you what to do and we felt safe to do every obstacle! Loved it highly recommend

The best afternoon!!!!

What an afternoon! I booked this for my husband’s birthday, he’d never done anything like this before and he absolutely loved it! Woody was a fabulous instructor and we can’t wait to come back. He also captured some great photos on his camera which he sent to us after. Great memories made! Thank you.

Great outdoor activity, even in October!

Very fun activity. Not as cold as we expected, so would definitely recommend doing it at this time of year. Our guide Andy was amazing. We will definitely be back!

1/2 Day Ghyll Scrambling at Stoneycroft

We had a fantastic afternoon ghyll scrambling at Stoneycroft. Woody the instructor was brilliant - he was friendly, knowledgeable and gave clear instructions so we always felt safe. A great experience which I would highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing

Absolutely amazing, I saw this ten years ago whilst hiking in the lakes and it's stuck with me ever since, finally I got to do it and it didn't disappoint!! Woody our instructor was superb, it was like visiting an old mate and he made you feel at ease at all times. We will be doing this again next year, different gorge but definitely not a different company. Superb!!

Ghyll scrambling at church beck

We booked the Ghyll scrambling as a group of 9, and had a fantastic day out at church beck. Adam (our instructor) was really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend, and we cant wait to come back :)

Amazing fun for all!

Great instructor (Adam), loads of fun, the kids (10 & 12yo) loved it and Adam was really good with them. All the equipment you needed was supplied. *Still waiting for photos which were taken by Adam

Excellent adventure on a really wet day

Really good activity. Lots of water in the Ghyll but we were well looked after by Adam our instructor. Good quality wetsuit, Dry Cag, helmets and Buoyance aids provided with instructions of how to use everything. Adam led the Scramble very well. It was not rushed but was fast enough to make sure no one was too cold. Good communication with Mobile adventure before hand with directions to the Ghyll sent in advance and wet suit sizes chosen before hand. Direct contact with the instructor the day before as well to make sure the weather would allow the activity. Would recommend and we will go back again.

Simply breath taking!!

After booking this experience for my partners birthday and a celebration on finishing our Wainwright's adventure, I have to say the experience was absolutely amazing, the instructor was very good, fun and made the whole experience a great day. The communication with everyone was brilliant, any time of day they were available to answer any queries, if you want an amazing adventure with a difference and get out of your comfort zone, these guys will certainly show you how it's done!! Thank you John and Adam for the whole experience and amazing memories!!

This activity was really really good. It tested the girls confidence from start to finish. Highly recommended to all and anyone who wants family fun.

Me and my sister (14 and 16) went on together without our parents. I was quite nervous but our instructor Sam was so kind and showed us how to do everything ! He made it very fun and exciting. Would 100% do it again. Thank you!!!

Fabulous experience

This trip was unforgettable!!! Woody was our instructor was a very charismatic guy who made us feel very safe and confident whilst on the scramble. My 7 year daughter was incredibly nervous at the beginning but Woody was so patient with her and took extra time giving her instructions and reassurance and by the end she was whizzing down the ghyll happily. We would 100% recommend this trip and we will be re-booking next time we’re in the lakes.

Woody was a fantastic instructor making us feel at ease from the start. His enthusiasm and encouragement throughout was so appreciated. Clear he has a real passion and made us feel safe throughout balancing safety and instructions against fun. Remembered all our names and made our daughter feel special as it was her birthday treat. Highly recommended although boy did I ache the day after!!

After a few problems with communication we completed the day. John provided an exciting experience for a very varied group Male s females old men (me 70) young ladies (7).we all enjoyed a wet sometimes challenging experience without pressure to complete each task.
