You wont be disappointed

We had heard great reviews from friends that has done this tour - when we first arrived (30 minutes early) we were slightly unsure as the "lining up, ordering dinner etc" was all a little hectic ..... BUT from the moment you hopped on the boat it was amazing - Casey was a wonderful tour guide, so knowledgeable, humorous and engaging (accompanied by Jamie - who was a wealth of knowledge) - the scenery was breath taking - we were in awe of the beauty at every turn - every second is a photo opportunity, the meal was also delightful, I feel every person on the tour was having an amazing evening (if the laugher was anything to go by) definitely put on your TO DO list (probably the only suggestion and I am not sure if there is protocol around this but would have been great to have a "Welcome to Country)

It was an amazing Cruise down the Gorge and the dinner experience was fantastic. Excellent food and so well organised.

Katherine Gorge - Best food, service and atmosphere

We had the most amazing time on this tour and cruise. Sunset is the way to go as you get the full experience of views within two gorges, including aboriginal rock art, and changes of colours as the sun is coming down. The food was the best we have had on our trip to NT with great cook and service of staff, along with an awesome guide who was knowledgeable, funny and helpful. It is a must if you visit Katherine.

Top experience in the top end.

This was the last night of our long road trip and so we booked the dinner cruise. It was expensive but well worth it. It started with the 2 gorge tour which was lovely, and the commentary by a local man was excellent. I was a bit wary at first of the walk between the gorges as I am no spring chicken and don't walk very fast, but it was no problem at all. On the way back you are seated at tables of 6 for a beaut meal, with the fish and steak cooked on board the boat, to order. The food and atmosphere were great. It was a lovely evening.

Great tour poor food.

The cruise on the Katherine River through the gorge is simply amazing. The staff were super helpful and informative. The big downer for us was that we got served under cooked Barramundi that was raw and cold in the middle. This happened to the other 2 people at our table as well. Just not good enough for the price we paid. It was my wife’s birthday and certainly took the edge of what should have been an amazing night.

A highlight of the trip to the NT

We had a great afternoon! You meet at the peer where you check in with staff and let them know any food preferences. You then jump on a boat and do the 2 hour 2 gorge cruise. Between the gorges there's a 500m path to get to the next boat. It's very well built and easy to walk. Lots of beautiful spots to stop and take a photo. On return to the last gorge, you get on the dinner boat that is all set up. A glass of sparkling when you jump in. Then you're off. Tables are of 6 - which I was first hesitant about, but the people we were with were SO lovely. Made the night even more fun. A shared platter comes out first, followed by the selected main and a dessert. Drinks are available to purchase throughout. When it got dark, they had spotlights shining against the land. Overall it was a great night. I'd highly recommend this over the standard cruise - it's well worth it!

Great experience- worth it!

Tour was really good, & we highly recommend it. The guide was fantastic, dinner was nice however steak was very over cooked (hence 4 stars) rest of meals good. I love hearing history & taking in sites & sunset from boat.

Fantastic experience!

Our Katherine Gorge tour was amazing. Our guide provided an excellent insight into the local indigenous people and the history & fauna/ flora associated with the Gorge. It is a spectacular place to visit. The tour was topped off by an excellent dinner that would rival top class restaurants. The sunsets in the gorge are worth the visit alone. Definitely a highlight travel experience.

Disappointing

We had booked the Sunset Dinner Cruise expecting to have dinner on a boat in the gorge.. we were disappointed when we were then advised we were having dinner at the visitor centre, with no explanation as to why or any form of refund offered. We didn’t even get to see the nicest part of the sunset in the gorge as we were walking to the visitor centre from the boat ramp. Disappointing to say the least.

Would recommend to anyone

What an experience!! Worth every penny. The cruise guide gave so much information on the gorge and even talked about the rock art sites. The dinner cruise saw the gorge glowing in the sunset and the staff catered to every need! Food was cooked perfectly. Was stifling hot even while moving though.

Fab

I had booked the sunrise tour, yet really happy I changed it to the dinner cruise. The tour guide was rather amusing whilst navigating through both gorges before you embark on your dinner cruise. I wasn't aware you did the two gorges before dinner which was great. Then the dinner- superb 3 course meal with great company too boot. Staff simply fabulous. The sunset awesome.

What a beautiful cruise on the gorge - so peaceful, great to see the fresh water crocodile, beautiful scenery, excellent commentary and the food - I have to say THE BEST food we have ever had on a dinner cruise, great staff - highly recommend this tour - and best place to stay- the Cicada lodge

Amazing sunset

This was the highlight of our Darwin trip. A must do cruise. The guides were excellent, the food was delicious and the sunset was spectacular. Thanks for a memorable night.

It would have been 5-stars, except...

A beautiful, magical, ancient river tour. Our guide was fantastic. The trip through the first gorge was enlightening and after our short walk to the second gorge (past rock art and watching beautiful colours and landscape) we coasted through the 2nd gorge - spotting a rare sight of birdlife and learning about the difference between 'freshies' and 'salties' and why it's so safe to canoe and swim here. Then back to the jetty to board our "dinner boat" and my-oh-my what a feast. Beautifully set tables, shared entrees of 'roo, chicken, croc, beautiful salty bread with whipped butter and smoky eggplant dip. Main courses as you indicated your choice on boarding - pink peppercorn steak, barra with romesco sauce, or smoked beetroot with cabbage and eggplant. Dessert was a monster brownie with cream, mango or maybe jackfruit? All with a wide range of bar drinks to purchase. My "minus -1" from the star review was the guide suggesting we tip the wait staff and chef. If this was a boat filled with US/UK/Overseas guests - sure. They're used to that. To us Aussies, we know staff are paid award wages. So knock it off.

Incredible sunset experience

One of the highlights of our NT trip- a really well organised and informative trip. The food was really delicious, and the staff friendly and informative. The scenery is incredible!

Katherine gorge sunset dinner cruise

The whole cruise was absolutely fantastic. The staff were all amazing. The food was fresh and tasty. Russell our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. The chef did an amazing job and the waitresses were friendly and helpful. The scenery was awesome . We were very pleasantly surprised by the whole evening. Could not recommend it highly enough. Most enjoyable night and very well priced. Definitely give it a go.

GORGEous

Went on the tour with my sister while she was visiting me here in the Northern Territory. The tour guide was very informative, helpful and funny. The gorge itself was GORGEous, especially at sunset. The food was delicious and we couldn’t get enough of it. Thank you to all the tour-guides and chef that made our experience one to remember

Stunning scenery on a moonlit night

You need to book this early. Yes, it is expensive, but it's a unique experience and was made extra beautiful with a full moon rising over the water. Staff were most attentive. There is some walking involved between gorges so mobility is required. ( but it is mostly flat level surfaces) The best thing for us was that we had done the hike up to Pat's Lookout and Jedda's Rock during the day ( a long hot walk!) and were able to look up from the water and see the spots where we had been looking down into the gorge. What a spectacular place and an awesome experience!

Atmosphere, food and staff were incredible. James was our guide with Jody helping, Daniel and Lauren waited on us and Pierre was our chef. All of the staff were outstanding representatives of this beautiful National Park.

Very nice.

First of all, this tour needs to be booked in advance. I think it only runs a couple of days a week and gets filled pretty quick. A driver and boat take you up the end of the first gorge. Then you must walk a little to a different boat but same driver, to go up the second gorge and back. Then you walk back to the first gorge where the dinner boat awaits. We used the same driver for that. The food was very good, the staff friendly and our driver knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour.

Amazing scenery and delicious food

Fantastic. The scenery was amazing and the dinner delicious. They catered for my dietary restrictions without comment and it was one of the best meals of our trip. I took way too many photos but it was hard not too as the scenery just kept getting better. Do this tour, you won’t regret it.

A fantastic way to spend the late afternoon/early evening. The scenery while cruising effortlessly through 2 gorges is awesome. The dinner was also excellent. The food and service were great. Recommend that if you have time, book this.

Must do in Katherine! An unforgettable birthday experience.

My husband booked this tour to celebrate my birthday while we were in Katherine. The scenery was stunning and weather perfect. Russell is a fabulous guide and captain. Knowledgeable, interesting and informative he was awesome. The food was delicious and hats off to the chef who manages to cook such a delicious meal on the cruise. All of the staff did a fabulous job, thank you not making my birthday so memorable. This tour is worth every cent. . (25 May)

Totally magical experience. Food was first class, Russell our guide made the trip informative, relaxed and fun. The crew, Char, Lauren and Fran just topped it off. Don't think twice just do it!

The trip was amazing seeing two Gorges, having dinner and meeting new people. The dinner was amazing cooked on the boat by a chef and the girls serving were beautiful.

Loved every moment of it. Didnt realise it was doing the normal gorge cruise (partner and I went to it back in Nov). Dinner was amazing as well. Wouldn't have it any other way

Stunning evening on the awe inspiring Nitmiluk Gorge

Our skipper/tour guide was absolutely incredible. Great knowledge and enthusiasm describing both the physical geology/time history of the space plus a clear description of how it is venerated in aboriginal culture. The dinner was so interesting and delicious and all the staff professionals and delightful. Congratulations all round.

Incredible Katherine Gorge Sunset Cruise

The whole trip was amazing. For those who have mobility problems, it could present them with some challenges though. The food, the service, the staff, the commentary were all exceptional. I would highly recommend doing this.

Wow. What an evening!

Thoroughly enjoyable. Russell was an able and interesting speaker and captain. His connection to his Country was very obvious. The colours of the gorges and the sunset sky were amazing. I would suggest that it is better to wear sturdy shoes as you need to be able to clamber over rocks between the first and second gorges. It was fascinating to view 10000 year old rock paintings on the cliff face high above. The meal, served after the completion of the second gorge tour, and a return across the rocks beneath the rock art, was spectacular - a choice from 3 main courses accompanied by a tasty ribbon salad followed the delicious flavours of first course. The flavours were quintessentially Australian, including paperbark smoked chicken, crocodile and char grilled kangaroo. Absolutely delicious. A truly enjoyable evening.

If there is only one thing you do in Katherine do this!

Beautifully crafted experience - fabulous way to experience Katherine Gorge and then to enjoy a yummy dinner surrounded by it! (Just a hint - make sure to be there at 415pm and ready to go - my friend and I got there at 430pm on the dot and nearly missed it!)

Fabulous scenery, fabulous food with a great narrative.

Simply fabulous. This is a well organised and descriptive tour with a sensational dinner all cooked on the boat BBQ. Kangaroo and crocodile for entree. I had the Barramundi for main which was exceptional and followed by a yummy brownie. And the scenery is OMG. The gorge was formed 25 million years ago by earthquakes. There’s plenty of indigenous people history as well explained by a highly knowledgeable guide. A must do tour!

30th Wedding Anniversary

What better way to spend our Wedding Anniversary with a Sunset Dinner Cruise, highly recommend, all the staff did a fabulous job, special thanks to the chef, beautiful food!

The crew were all wonderful.. The big disappointment was the dinner seating. I was sat in the aisle at a table with two young couples. Travelling on my own I felt I was given this secondcrate seating even though I paid full price for my ticket.
