Cutta Cutta Caves Nature Park Guided Tours

Not a good experience

We arrived at the caves after driving 45 minutes to get there to be told we couldn’t do it with our crocs. Family of 4. Would have to buy shoes $25 each but didn’t have our sizes anyway! No refund, no help. All it said on website was closed toe shoes which crocs are. Very disappointed with a 3 & 1 year old

Turned away after drive 60km out & back

We got the flyer from the caravan park in Katherine it states no booking required- not true we travelled out and was told you haven’t got a booking and to come back next week. Not very organised and very disappointed when there paper work states No Booking Required

Worth a look

Great to see the caves and learn about the formations, environment, cultural and historical information

Interesting

The cave is beautiful and interesting. The guide is very knowledgeable and nice. Bring water and be aware in the second part, the cave is very hot and humid!

Try to get to the front of the group so you can hear the commentary

Whilst the park itself was great, we found that if you were at the back of the tour group you were unlikely to really hear the commentary and benefit from the guide's spotlight. So, unfortunately, we were part of the group that found themselves at the back of the group and really don't know much about the caves themselves. When we first arrived (as part of The Ghan tour), it became apparent that there was a brown snake in the vicinity and, although the tour guide was concerned for our safety, his expletives and comment 'let's go see if we can get bitten by a brown snake' didn't really give the group much comfort. It was probably a bit 'tongue in cheek, but probably should have been considered before being spoken out aloud. The caves themselves were great. The bits of the commentary we heard were interesting, but the guide should have either been in the middle of the group or it might have been better to split the group and have 2 tour guides.

Best to call ahead to book

Despite the website and the brochure at the counter saying that there is a 2pm tour (and no need to book) I turned up today ( Sun 20 Aug) on time for a 2pm tour only to be told there was no 2pm tour today and the next tour is at 3pm. I didn't bring anything with me to pass the time for an hour and there isn't a cafe so I turned around and drove back into Katherine. No explanation was offered as to why the 2pm tour wasn't running. What a waste of time :(

A pocket of delight for all ages

Definitely recommend the guided tour, especially with Ben - so informative, and perfectly attuned to the interest of all ages. A pocket of wonder in the NT definitely worth making time for.

Informative and wonderful experience. Learned a lot about the area and the geology. Well worth the tour, to see not only the cave formations but learn about the wildlife inhabiting the caves.

My booking got cancelled and wasnt refunded

d Due to a King brown snake being found in the cave that day my booking was cancelled by the cutta cutta caves and they told me to contact tripadvisor to obtain a refund but i have not been able to contact tripadvisor anyway and have not been refunded. I would not recommend booking through tripadvisor for any tours because if it is after the date you cant get in contact with them

Cutta Cutta Caves

Smaller caves but great experience with guide sharing their knowledge. Well worth the visit. Interesting to know that the caves feed the Katherine springs which is also a great place to visit

Must do

Was a really interesting tour walking through Cutta Cutta Caves. The guide was very friendly, informative and great sense of humour. The caves are absolutely beautiful and jaw dropping, and the facts about the caves are really interesting. Some tips - wear inclosed shoes. Not only are you going under the earth but you are in the outback ie. snake country. Common sense really a few spaces are a squeeze to get through, but manageable. Is quite dark in places but once your eyes adjust its amazing. Enjoy

Great experience

Cave is amazing. My guide on the day was very knowledgeable and threw in some humour which made us all laugh.

A cave different from the rest.

You can only go there with a guided tour and the guide will tell u stories about the cave. Great way to learn how different Cutta Cutta Cave is different from a normal cave.

Who knew that there are these amazing underground caves here in Katherine. There is like no other. Our guide was great. Worth a visit I say.

The very knowledgeable guide and great formations . Loved the tree roots coming into the cave. Interesting history of the caves being used in world war 2.

Excellent cultural visit to the underground caves. Knowledgable tour guide with interesting information disseminated. Entertaining at times however seems overpriced for large groups going through to a small portion of the cave only. Definitely would recommend.

Amazing

The Caves are a Natural work of art, I do not have the words to aptly describe there beauty. Our Guide Angus had extensive knowledge on the Caves and there geological formation and history. Angus was a very amiable person and our trip was enjoyable. I would recommend this adventure to everyone.

Worth the visit

The caves were beautiful and the guide knowledgeable, although some of us thought the guide spoke too fast for us to catch everything she was saying.

Beware the inconsistent application of the ‘enclosed shoes’ rule

Our 9y.o was refused entry with Merrill hiking shoes (air vents = not enclosed enough), so spent an hour waiting in the car park; meanwhile, another adult participant was permitted for the duration of the tour wearing Havianas (thongs), without comment or issue by the guides.

Structures good,animals one

Was expecting to see bats that live there,there were none. A second snake would have been interesting.

Go directly to caves to buy tickets as online bookings is a rip off

Caves and tour was great however booking was difficult and when I checked my bank statement I was overcharged by $41

Cutta Cutta Caves

Took a quick stop at the Cutta Cutta Caves just below Katherine. Our guide Jaz was very knowledgeable & made it interesting. Worth seeing. Can’t upload any photos for some reason.

Experience was fantastic, how ever the booking webb site did not at any time tell you that $ were in USD so when converte to AUS$ were no cheaper

Picturesque Katherine

Katherine was the first big town in our trip from Uluru to Darwin. Great place to relax and enjoy. The trip down the Gorge with dinner was the highlight.

Great informative guide....

Great informative guide. Loved seeing the snake outside the cave, and Elvis inside the cave. The crystal formation was amazing.

A good way to spend an hour.

Not the most extensive cave system but definitely a good way to spend an hour. You see a few different chambers and they’re all different giving you a good understanding of how they’re formed.

Fascinating & Informatice tour

Great 1 hour guided tour into the sandstone caves just outside of Katherine. Good tour and informative- at times she spoke a little too quickly to catch every word she was saying.

Cutta Cutta Caves

A great insight into the geology, biology and environmental changes to something so unique. We even managed to see some ghost bats. Well worth the effort. Would recommend doing in the morning though.

Greg’s cave

The guide gave good and interesting informative comments about the caves. It was interesting to see a green snake named Greg. We also saw a bat fly across the cave. The guide also pointed out the differences between the formations, as well as the reasons as to why the changes had occurred. The guide Kristy also made the tour a bit of fun, by pointing out the various formations that looked like a dog, an upside down dragon & one that looked like Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash. Well worth the money and time.

We were very impressed with our guide, we were there on Monday 16th for 1pm tour. Our guide was very passionate and informative and made this tour exciting and opened our eyes to how fragile our system is above and below it was a beautiful experience, I would recommend this tour to all my friends and everyone This tour needs more exposure. Authentic and amazing experience

Our tour guide, Jamie, was very well-knowledge about the caves and just made the whole experience amazing. The caves is definitely a must see when you go to Katherine.

Had the fortune of a 2 o 1 guiding experience. Guide very informative and knowledgeable.. Guide showed us all aspects of the cave system, its inhabitants and the formation of the caves and the expected short term future. Well worth doing.
