Small Group Kangaroo Island Tour - Best of KI

A spectacular, unforgettable experience

We have been traveling throughout Australia for 3.5 weeks and our day on Kangaroo Island with tour guide Nikki was the highlight of our entire trip. The itinerary was perfect to see the best of Kangaroo Island in one day without feeling tiring, in a very comfortable vehicle. Lunch was absolutely delicious (we had fresh grilled chicken skewers, tasty warm bread, potato salad, fresh green salad and wine in a lovely national park setting) and water, tea, coffee and yummy Anzac biscuits were on offer. As a tour guide, Nikki was punctual, caring, and attentive. Best of all, the incredible knowledge of our guide about all things KI, from its history to its geography and especially its abundant flora and fauna made for an incredible day. She was able to spot all kinds of wildlife, and knew how to quietly and safely get closer for the best views and pics. We cannot recommend KI or especially this tour enough!

Best way to see Kangaroo Island

Our experience with KI Hire a Guide was absolutely 5 stars. We did the nocturnal tour with Luca and the day tour with Nikki, both of whom were fabulous. Nikki was very enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable, and so much fun. She helped us spot a lot of animals including an echidna, koalas in trees and on the ground, kangaroos, eagles, sea lions & pups. The tour included a fabulous lunch cooked on the barbecue. We would highly recommend requesting Nikki for a day tour - she is absolutely phenomenal. Luca is very quick to respond to questions and pays attention to all the details when organizing the tours. He was great at spotting nocturnal activity during our night tour (including an echidna, penguins, opossums, kangaroos, an owl, and tons of wallabies of course). 10/10 recommend KI Hire a Guide.

We had five in the group and the excitement of the overseas family of seeing native Australian animals in the wild was infectious and made a great trip even better. Kangaroo Island Guide review

A big thank you to Nikki for the wonderful tour last Wednesday. This was the highlight of our trip to Australia - with a superb mix of local knowledge, passion for the island, huge respect for the ecosystem of the island - animals, bird and people - it made for an unforgettable day. We have so many wonderful memories and you really shared your love and excitement of the island from walking with sea lions to koala and echidna spotting it was a remarkable day. And thanks to Luca for all the organisation and a lovely lunch.

Nikki is a marsupial expert

Our guide was Nikki Redman. And a more knowledgeable guide it would be hard to find. She answered everything. And is a marsupial EXPERT. She took us to the natural habitats of kangaroos and koalas. We got great photos. Nikki is a wonderful photographer herself. Plants, birds, seals, sea lions, beaches, rock formations. No negatives at all except the hot hot day and as we picked our day we can't complain. And she gave us an excellent lunch. It was a day to remember. Highly recommended.

Definitely visit Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island definitely lives up to its reputation. Our experience was amazing because we had the BEST GUIDE ever! Nikki Redman's encyclopedic knowledge of the animals, plants, history of the island and folklore made our visit fascinating and fun. There was no question left unanswered. We highly recommend seeking out Nikki for a unique and special tour of the island.

Great Day on Kangaroo Island

Luca made our day on Kangaroo Island a special one! He met us at the airport in the morning and showed us around as much of the island as time permitted before our evening flight back to Adelaide. He introduced us to a place about which you could tell he was passionate, treating us to a memorable day full of interesting sights (sea lions, Admiral’s Arch, Remarkable Rocks…) PLUS a delicious barbecue lunch. AND we got to see koalas in the wild for the first time ever!

Wonderful all day small group experience on the island

The tour began early in the day and didn’t return to the hotel until 5:30. Luca was our guide for the day, was very knowledgeable about the island and the animals. We stopped frequently all day long to see and take photos of all the must do places as well as several sites to see kangaroos and koalas. Luca provided coffee/tea and biscuits mid morning, water all day and a beautiful lunch where he grilled lamb and bread to go with the salad and couscous. The lemonade and orange juice were quite good as well. The small group was truly a small group with only five of us. Luca has a great sense of humor and treated us like family! Great tour!

Amazing and a must do!

If I could rate this tour a 10, I would! Luca was full of knowledge and had so much information! The private lunch, the sights, and the hunt for wild kangaroos, koalas, and more. So surreal and so amazing!! A lot of the buses could not get to a lot of places we went to with Luca!

We took part to an amazing daily tour with Luca, as our guide. He involved starting from the beginning of the tour till the end. Every detail has been planned accurately to make us happy! We really enjoyed the full day. Everything has been so unexpected and gorgeous! Of course, we will suggest this experience that is unforgivable!

A truly fantastic experience! 5-star experience from beginning to end

We did a 3-day private best of KI tour. It was a 5-star experience all the way. Booking from the US, i made contact with Luca and he called me immediately to learn more about my trip. Other tour operators on the island were not as responsive. Luca helped arrange ferry and airport transfer. We were traveling as a family of 4 with a 7- and 3-year old. He even came and helped us get to the ferry early in the morning as I told him we had a lot of luggage because we were traveling for two weeks. Our guide for 3-days was Roberta who was amazing. Our kids loved her and she made everything interesting for them. I highly recommend Luca and his company.

Great, long day

Great tour - Luca was excellent guide. We were a little concerned at first, as we were told there would be a maximum of 6 persons on the tour when we booked some months ago, but we actually had 9 on our tour. Luca was using a larger vehicle, so it wasn’t an issue as there was plenty of room in the vehicle. All the stops were interesting and we saw koalas, seals, sea lions. The BBQ lunch was very good. It was a very long day, 9am to 6pm, so you spend a lot of time travelling from Kingscote to Flinders Chase National Park and back.

Five Star KI all-day small group tour.

This was a wonderful all-day experience. Highlights included: Walking on the beach to view seal lions at Seal Beach, Admiral’s Arch and Remarkable Rocks in Flinders Chase National Park and seeing wild koalas. A fantastic guide who prepared a great barbecue lunch and was so knowledgeable and personable (Luca) with KI hireaguide. Highly recommended.

Roberta is one of the best guids we’ve ever had on a tour. She knows all the best spots to show you what you want to see of the country. She is kind and very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around. The scenery and the wildlife were spectacular.

The best guide in KI

Wonderful experience! Luca is a very friendly and experienced guide. He has shown us around all the best spots in the island and he knew where to find all the cutest animals. He has perfectly managed the timing throughout all the day and he has also prepared a delicious BBQ for lunch. He has even been really kind in helping us solving a logistic issue. 100% suggested!

Beautiful KI

Had a great time on the tour, Luca was very knowledgeable and made the trip very enjoyable. Was nice in a small group, which allowed us all to be able to interact and ask questions which is more difficult in a large tour group. Would definitely recommend this tour.

The best introduction to KI one could hope for!

My son and I booked the Best of KI tour as neither had ever been to KI before and our guide, Lutz, was everything you could ask for! He filled us in with loads of interesting and relevant information about the island, including its history pre and post European settlement as well as the geological and natural aspects of everything we saw. He provided a relaxed tour and we never felt rushed to move on. Morning tea/coffee was accompanied by home made Anzac biscuits (yummm) and lunch was also delicious and delightfully enjoyed in the fresh air. We also learned how the bushfires impacted the island and by the end of the day, felt that we had a good insight into the magic of this special community. Odesseys Three Day Tour Kangaroo Island

Nikki from Odessey Tours met us at the ferry , helped us with our luggage, made sure we were seated comfortably as my partner on crutches, first day travelled with two other ladies, saw lots of wild life, told us about the fires and the history and industry of the island, lunches were huge and tasty Second and third day we travelled to other areas where my partner could not walk to see rocks etc up front Nikkii made the to park so he could see the interest point from a distance, Honey factory fascinating, disappointed Mulberry gin was not available but at least got a taste, On out departure Nikkii got our boarding passes for ferry and saw us into the lounge I can highly recommend the tour with Odyssey’s at Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island all day tour

After the recent brushfires, we were a little aprehensive about our trip. However, our tour guide, Robert, provided a very comprehensive tour of Kangaroo Island. He ensured we saw koalas, wallabies, echidna, goanna, seals, and over 150 kangaroo in their native habitat. As the retired head of the KI parks system, he knew exactly where to look and provided expert commentary on firefighting techniqes, regrowth of burnt areas, animal behavior, and Ki history. This was the highlight of our monthlong NZ and AU trip.

We arrived at Kangaroo island by plane from Adelaide and were picked up by our guide Luca Lovinson at the airport. We were the only passengers and he showed us the highlights of Kangaroo island. We were able to see Koalas, Kangaroos etc and enjoyed the beautiful nature and landscape of Kangaroo island. Luca is very knowledgable and very friendly. We will certainly come back and spend more time exploring this magnificent island. We can highly recommend Luca and the tour.

To visit the island of Kangaroo I've booked an individual tour with Kangaroo Island Hire a Guide and we found ourselves (2 persons) very well. Luca has been a competent and professional guide. He has lived in kangaroo for a long time and knows very well how to approach animals respecting them in their habitat Absolutely to recommend

Way beyond expectations

Luca provided an all-day tour for our group of six, and it was outstanding. We were impressed by not only his knowledge of Kangaroo Island's animals, flora and fauna, but also his knowledge of the local geology which is rather complex. We had a wonderful bar-b-q at the national park and a coffee break alongside a remote country road that coincidently had two koalas in the trees right above us!

Best day ever on Kangaroo Island

We consider ourselves very lucky to have gotten Luca with Kangaroo Island Hire a Guide for the day we spent on Kangaroo Island. We searched for a small group tour, we were delighted to be the only 2 on the tour. We saw sea lions, NZ fur seals, koalas, kangaroos plus various birds. Everywhere we went that day we were almost always the only ones there at that moment, it felt like we had backstage passes every where we went. Luca would also stop at times to point out what was crossing the road or explain a plant I asked about. It just doesn't get much better. We highly recommend this tour.

Up close & personal with KI

My partner and I had Luke as our tour guide for the Best of KI Tour. We were amazed and humbled by being able to see these beautiful wild animals in their natural environment. It felt a little like a safari! We saw native KI kangaroos, seals and sea lions, wallabies, echidnas, wedged tailed eagles, yellow tailed iguana & black tiger snake. The highlight was seeing both seals and the sea lions 😍 the scenery was lovely and Luke was most knowledgeable on all things KI. Highly recommend this tour! Worth every cent.

Fantastic Tour with Great Knowledge and Personalized Attention!

We spent a fabulous day with Luca who shared the wonders of Kangaroo island with us. We saw loads of Kangaroos, Koalas, seals and sea lions in their natural habitats while Luca provided detailed information about these animals, their habitats, and the island in general. The tour was very personalized and customized to meet our interests. You will enjoy tea/ coffee and biscuits with Kangaroos as well as driving on 4WD roads for special viewing of Kangaroos you won't find on the bus tours! Just what you are looking for

Luca was just the sort of tour guide you hope to get. Personable, knowledgeable and accommodating. We would highly recommend him to anyone traveling to Kangaroo Island. Fluent in English, Italian and French he brings a wealth of context to his tours and listened well to our questions and interests. Small groups (just my wife and I) are the way to go in my book and Luc and his crew deliver.

A Must Do!!!

Lutz was our guide for the day and took us to see Kangaroos, Koalas, the Remarkable Rocks, fur seals near the Admirals Arch, beautiful Vivonne Bay, seals at Seal Bay. Lutz was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Worth every penny!

Awesome, awesome, awesome

Organised two tours with Luca, however this was changed at the last minute due to some of our requirements without any hassle whatsoever. This made our tour of the island over 14 hours long and combined both the day tour and night tour together. We were partnered up with Lutz our guide for the day. He was so knowledgeable about the island, its history and wildlife and was happy to share all of this with us. Kangaroo Island is a stunning place and it far bigger than we anticipated. Given the short time we had on the island, the tour was an excellent way of seeing as much as possible. Kangaroo Island is a mini Australian safari, with loads of wildlife from Birds to Snakes, Seals, Kangaroos, Koalas, Wallabies and Possums. I can't recommend this company enough, it is clear to see from the previous reviews and our own experience that reputation really does count and the guides really want to impress. If you do visit the island then use them, they are awesome.

Luca gave us a wonderful day tour with an extra detour to see kangaroos emerging from their daytime cover thrown in. He is very knowledgeable about Kangaroo Island, its geology, its history and its wildlife - he also has a great sense of humour. This tour is highly recommended for anyone visiting this magnificent Island for the first time.

What a wonderful day! My husband and I took a full day tour with Luca. His knowledge of the island, its flora and fauna, history, etc. is tremendous as is his passion. And what an eye. He was able to spot animals I never would have seen. I would highly recommend doing a tour with him. It was one of the highlights of our 4 weeks in Australia.

Everything was perfect. Luca was very responsive in arranging the tour. Since we were arriving on the first flight in and departing on the last flight out, he graciously extended the duration of the tour. Lutz was our guide. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable and customized our activities to our interests. The seals, kangaroos, koalas, and other wildlife he showed us were amazing to behold, as were the rocks and views. Highly recommended!

Great Day on Kangaroo Island

We had a wonderful full-day tour with Luca as our guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the island and the wildlife. We saw lots of wildlife (kangaroos, koalas, seals, sea lions) and traveled across the southern part of Kangaroo Island. We also made stops in Flinders Chase National Park at the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch. Kangaroo Island Hire a Guide is the only company that we found that would come to the port at Penneshaw without adding a surcharge to the price. Highly recommend Hire a Guide for the awesome trip and for cruisers who are looking for an independent tour.

Great day!

Four of us spent a wonderful day with Luca. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his island and its native flora and fauna. He is also very charming and attentive to his guests. Between the Nocturnal Tour the night before and this day tour we saw pretty much all the animals that we came to see plus many more. Luca knew how and where and when to see it all. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him.

Fantastic Day with Nikki on KI 🦘

We had a great day with the lovely Nikki. Since she grew up on Kangeroo Island, she was able to tell us so much about animals, plants and the history of KI! We saw everything possible: Kangeroos, koalas, seals, platypuses, wallebies and sea eagles. Plus fascinating landscapes, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and tunnels made of trees. For lunch, Nikki surprised us with a barbecue at a barbecue area “in the middle of nowhere”. Conclusion: The day will remain unforgettable for us, it was worth every euro and without Nikki, who knows exactly where the animals are, we wouldn’t have had these experiences!!!
