A Magical Night with Nature's Lights

Our recent firefly tour was an unforgettable experience. Witnessing thousands of tiny, twinkling lights illuminating the trees was truly breathtaking. The fireflies looked almost artificial, like miniature LEDs, and their synchronized movement was mesmerizing. The boatman expertly navigated through the river, bringing us as close as possible to the trees for an intimate view. While we were disappointed to learn that mosquito repellent deterred the fireflies, it was still a magical evening. The tour was well-organized, and the guide's knowledge added to the experience. For only 20RM per adult, it's a must-do for anyone visiting the area. (Very hard to capture photos)

Worth for a visit

Nice staff, wonderful experience. Went with a family of 9, booked a car for a busy due to the far distance but worth for a visit. There is a durian shop nearby, must try too.

Amazing firefly viewing

there were so many fireflies. They were very pretty to look at, like christmas trees. The guide was excellent, very friendly. Taught us many things n answered all our questions. They even showed us monitor lizards sleeping on trees. Would definitely recommend if u r in the area

Worth the trip out

This trip turned out to be so enjoyable despite being so far out and having to fight the evening traffic to get here. Not only did we get to see so many fireflies, it was very amazing to hear how much conservation work they're doing in the day for these short-lived fireflies so that we can enjoy this natural wonder. We also got to see a giant monitor lizard and some monkeys in the trees. Very nice guide whom we got to chat with, and very nice boat driver. Consider helping them to raise awareness for the sake of the fireflies!

Fun!

So fun and something totally different from what you can find in Desaru, which is filled with animal farms. A good river cruise experience for kids.

Twinkle stars on trees

This boat trip would be a good after dinner activity, especially if you have kids. It is inexpensive and could be quite entertaining, if you have not seen so many fireflies. One possible challenge is to reach the Firefly Park as it is not within walking distance from the city. Taking a taxi would be the most convenient if you do not drive. We booked our ticket online and we reached the park a lot earlier than expected. There are many mosquitoes, so bring your mosquito patches and sprays. About 5 minutes before your scheduled time, you will take a life jacket and board the boat. Each boat could seat about 20-30 pax. The boat need not travel long distance to see the fireflies. There are some trees which are just beside the river and they are full of fireflies. The whole boat trip is about 45mins. You can buy some fireworks at the park. Not the type where you can shoot up into the sky and it bursts, but some are quite good. We bought 2 types and took turns lighting them up. Good simple activity for the whole family.

Enjoyable

This is a good place to see fireflies. The overall duration is just nice around 45 min. We waited for the rain to stop before we joined the 9.30pm slot. Luckily, we get to see them which appeared like in the tree, twinkling brightly. The boat guide will let both sides of the passengers have close-up look at the fire flies. Some even flew to your hand. My mum who was near 80 enjoyed the trip tremendously. The fireflies park is very suitable for children and adults. I highly recommend this trip.

Must GO!

This is something that I was really looking for, for the 7 kids that were on this trip with us. Out of gadget, relaxing, mesmerizing and an unforgettable learning journey. We chose the 7:30PM trip as advised. Be early as you get on the boat following a first come first serve numbering system. Although the admin was single handedly mend by just 1 person, we managed to all get on the boat on time. The kids (plus the mothers) were amazed by twinkling fireflies. The breeze was so fresh and we managed to see thousands of fireflies within our 45mins journey. We ended the trip with wishing lanterns. WonderFUN wrap! PS: Just an advice to give the boat a fresh coat of paint as it is looking very tired. :)

Fantastic

FANTASTIC BEST PLACE TO SEE FIREFLIES. Most importantly, the operators are very very helpful. We booked for the 730pm boat but as we were running late, they allowed us to go onto the 830pm boat. And while we were walking to the jetty, I dropped my Handphone into the swampy waters and I thought that it’s would be gone. The operator told me to proceed with my boat trip while they will try to retrieve it. I had very little hopes as the water was pretty deep. When we returned , they actually miraculously managed to get my phone up but attaching 2 long bamboos and a net. I was sooo grateful and wanted to offer a tip. They refused and just said it’s their job to make all customers leave with a positive experience. Soo heartwarming to know there are such tour operators around. Thank you very much. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Don't expect them to fly

It was OK but I thought the fireflies will fly around you, a bit disappointed that it just sat on the tree. I guess the cartoon scenes raised my expectations too much. The fireflies did light up like a Christmas tree which is amazing!

Majestic experience. Five stars

The experience was wonderful. The ethereal atmosphere was very majestic. The transport arranged was very efficient and smooth — we managed to arrive slightly early. The boat captain was friendly and introduced us to new facts. Besides the countess fireflies which we had caught and released upon close contact, we also saw a few monitor lizards. Overall, this place is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Magical experience

We visited Kota Tinggi Firefly Park on a Saturday evening. The boat rides depart at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm. The 7.30pm tour is supposed to be the best one for viewing the fireflies. (The fireflies get less active later into the night apparently). Tickets are RM20 for adults and RM12 for children. We had previously been to the Desaru Firefly tour, and we thought that this was way better. For a start, the operator did not scoop water to splash onto the bushes where the fireflies were to drive them out, which I thought was pretty destructive. The fireflies were also easy to see from the boat, and they really did light up the trees like Christmas lights! It was very beautiful and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the 45-min ride in the boat. Just take note that there would be some mosquitoes (you’re in the jungle/wild!), so you might want to wear long pants. (Insect repellent discouraged as the scent may also put off the fireflies). There’s a gift shop and the reception is just 100m from the main road, so it’s easy to get to if you drive!

Fun - Well worth it

A little hidden gem of an activity that we all really enjoyed. Plenty of fireflies to experience in the trees around the lake/river which we all enjoyed with the added bonus of monkeys and lizards sleeping in the trees too. A bit of a hike from our hotel in Johor but we felt it was worth it after the fun and memorable time we had. Good value too and well organized with decent life jackets and friendly skipper and staff.

So amazing!!! Make the visit!!!

The lighting conditions were excellent so I was able to see A LOT of fireflies. It's like seeing magical Christmas lights through the trees. The staff here are so amazing and kind and helpful. I'm a solo traveller so it can be hard to take pictures of myself but they offered and were just so welcoming and accommodating from the second I got there! Even pointing out fireflies from the boat when they were harder to see. Highly recommend. :D I also recommend getting a wishing lantern (8RM) which you can release and a love lock (10RM) which you can lock onto the fence by the river.

Relaxing boat ride into a magical forest of glistering fireflies

A magical and beautiful place! A belated review, we visited Kota Tinggi Firefly park early in Jan this year and it has left such a deep impression. Making a booking online through Whatapps was easy and the host were friendly and helpful in assisting us with it. The place was easy to locate via GPS, better if you can drive there or chartered a ride, it's about 45 mins drive from central JB. We were warmly welcomed as we reached, it's a cosy and simple park, boat ride was about 45 minutes if I remembered it right, a pleasant and tranquil trip into the mangroves where many beautiful cluster of firefly lived. It's as if time has stopped and you are transported into a mystical forest of glistering lights! It's a very beautiful and magical sight, only cons were the sometimes overly-excited crowd (Inevitable I guess!) and the fuel smell from the boat, but apart from this, a beautiful park to visit if you're in Johor. I thank the good people for doing such a good job maintaining this beautiful landscape, home to so many fireflies! (A vanishing sight in our overly polluted cityscape)

A place definitely worth to visit.

The firefly cruise is the dreamy experience. If you never seen firefly. You will not believe. The fireflies shinning like Christmas tree. After cruise, have a interesting activity. Write your wish on a wishing lantern then burn the candle. The lantern fly up to sky. That means all your wish come true. definitely worth to visit.

Nice Evening Cruise with Fireflies

Nice 45 min cruise in the dark to see fireflies on the bank of the river. We even saw a big lizard on a tree! They have a gift shop to buy a lantern, where you light a fire in the middle and it carries the lantern up into the air to so that your wishes come true:). Although, one requires own transport to the place as it is quiet a distant from JB and Nusajaya.

Recalled the old good days of our childhood

Able to see hundreds of fireflies in many trees on the river bank. The staff anc guides were friendly. Need to improve and maintain the environment, add modern audio visual facilities.

Easy and smooth online booking process. Location easy to find. Near the main road. Staff was very friendly and helpful. You can see a lot of fireflies. This is not visible in the city. There are also wishing lantern and special souvenirs. worth to visit.

Bad management lousy service

I am utterly disappointed by the service provided. I made a booking on 31 Dec 2019 in the afternoon for the 830pm firefly river cruise. I texted them to mention that I will be late due to bad traffic. My gps ended up bringing me to the wrong place and I called in at 815 to ask for directions. At 820 they WhatsApp to tell me that the boat has left. I mentioned that I was only 5 minutes out and they insist that their boat leave on time and they cannot wait for us. We left disappointed but understood that we could not hold everyone back. I was once again back at the same place on 1 jan 2020. I waited for 40 mins for the river cruise to commence. At 840 they told me that we still have to wait for the other group of people because they have not turned up and called in to tell them that they were stuck in bad traffic. At 845 the other group still have not reach. I questioned why we could wait for the other group but they could not wait yesterday. The lady emphasised that this is not the issue at hand and that there are lesser firefly today. Such double standards were not explained and answered. I believe it could be that there is only 2 of us and that it is not PROFITABLE ENOUGH FOR THEM

A Nighttime Firefly River Cruise

We had a wonderful time looking out for the twinkling lights in the trees by the river bank. The fireflies looked like twinkling Christmas lights on the trees and a rare few even flew close to us. The light breeze also made the journey a very pleasant one. The only con is that sometimes you may smell the petrol from the boat engine when the breeze blew it in your direction.

Staffs were friendly, the free sky lanterns were a pleasant surprise, making it an enjoyable trip for the group of 25 high school students.

Unique and totally Magical

I’ve never bern to a place like this and am so happy Kota Tinggi Firefly Park is out there in the world. it’s kind of off the beaten path too and feels like it’s a hidden secret which makes the whole experience even more magical. You arrive and are given life jackets and then board the bumboat for the cruise. It is totally dark the whole time on the boat (no lights used, except once to signal when another boat came past) which creates an atmosphere of cruising into the unknown and not knowing just what might happen. The fireflies are spectacular. I’ve never seen anything like them. Pictures won’t do them justice as ordinary cameras don’t pick them up so put them away and enjoy. The driver stops close to the trees the fireflies are in so you can see them up close. It’s like a light show happening right in front of you, like something out of Avatar if you will, fairy lights one after the other down the river. It was also interesting how some trees had no fireflies and others were swarming with them. On the way back the guide pointed out a monkey and a monitor (large lizard) with his flashlight up in the treetops and we got a chance to have a look. And I have to say, the customer service was second to none. I contacted the park via Facebook messenger and they quickly responded with tour times & details, arranged a driver to take me to and from the park, and put me in direct with him via Whatsapp. They took all the hassle away. The trip from Johor Bahru to Kota Tinggi and back including the Firefly Cruise ticket cost 200 MYR (AUD 70) which was great value given its a 45 minute drive one way and I had my own driver. This was a wonderful experience and Kota Tinggi Firefly Park is worth going out of your way to visit.

Good experience

Overall, it was good experience to be on this short cruise. Tickets were a breeze to purchase and obtained. However, a simple briefing to remind passengers: 1) DO NOT switch on/use flash or torchlight at ALL TIMES 2) to be as quiet as possible on the ride so as not to affect the firefly watching experience.

So beautiful, amazing boat trip and lovely, helpful and nice staff. They took very Good Care of us. We loved it.

Firefly cruise, Sky Lantern & Love Lock

Whole experience was fantastic! From transport pick up --> meet & greet by staffs upon arrival at firefly park --> keeping us occupied with the love lock and helped with photographs taking before the cruise as we reached early --> wrapped up with Sky Lantern! Cruise tickets can be reserved and transportation can be arranged in advance [if needed] through whatsapp or Facebook messenger. Car driver's service was good and journey was smooth and pleasant. Driver was very patient and shared places of interest with us. He even sent us to our dinner place after the firefly cruise, and willing to wait for us before sending us back to hotel. Staffs at firefly park were great - friendly staffs and warm welcome from them. Helped with photo taking too. Overall, very happy and satisfied with my maiden firefly cruise =)

Impressive night. Memoir of Firefly Tour in Johor

I took a tour to enjoy fireflies from the ship, which is about an hour drive from Johor city. To be honest, I didn't expect that much, but I was surprised. I was moved by the experience beyond my wildest dreams and the wonderful hospitality of the staff. The countless fireflies perched on the trees was like a Christmas tree, and I couldn’t believe that this was a creation of nature 🎄 I am grateful to have seen this for myself. After the tour, you can enjoy raising the lantern for 20RM. We bought one to wish our daughter a lovely future and gave it to her after the tour. The staff took photos and videos very carefully and were impressed 🥺 I also recommend this one 💁‍♀️ The tour starts at 7.30pm, so we arrived about an hour in advance. We ate at a nearby BBQ restaurant and finished reception shortly before 7 o'clock. You will be guided to the boat in the order of reception, but don't worry as you can sit in a seat where you can see the fireflies firmly even after your turn 🙋‍♂️ We drove Grab both way and back, but as the ride home was past 8.30pm, we were worried about Grab getting caught in the suburbs, but managed to find a driver. If you are worried about Grab travel, you might want to ask for a charter car to go 🚗 The amazing quality of 2,054 yen for three adults added to the wonderful memories of my trip to Malaysia.
