Black River Safari & YS Falls Guided Tour with Lunch & Admission from Negril

Tour cancelled by Operator

One day before starting the tour the operator cancelled the booking since the minimum booking figure was not reached yet. Refund of paid money is on the way, anyhow quite a disappointment!

They cancelled at 8pm the night before

They cancelled the booking at 8pm the night before because they said they didnt have enough bookings. I was supposed to be picked up at 8am. I already spoked to someone on the phone hours prior because no one contacted me to confirm the pickup time. Unacceptable. I had to scramble to replace them and pay out of pocket for the replacement excursion because the refund for this booking was going to take days. I did receive my money back from Viator with no issues.

An excellent experience

This is a great tour my family of five had an amazing time, the only downfall was we would have appreciated more time at the falls. We didn’t have much time to enjoy the natural pools.

Beware, half of YS falls is closed and they don’t tell you…

The experience was okay, half of the YS falls are shut down so you could only go in the bottom part and take pictures. No swimming and that’s the whole reason we booked it. I Requested a partial refund because that wasn’t stated anywhere in the booking and they denied it. The black river safari was fun, the tour guide there was super knowledgeable and taught us a lot.

It was canceled

I didn't go it was canceled due to it wasn't enough peoples that booked . So that left us with nothing to do .....

Worth the time and money

Clive (the driver) was fun and knowledgeable and even stopped for us to be able to buy some sunscreen from a local place and avoid the resort prices, although the cheapest sunscreen was actually at YS Falls' gift shop. The drive from Negril was roughly 1.5 hours and you get to see a lot of the island. There are tour guides when you get to the falls, they try to keep you moving to avoid groups getting bunched up and crowding the various pools, try to go early in the day to avoid the crowds. The lower pools are fine for enjoying the experience so you can get through the upper pools first and relax later. There is also interesting wild life and scenery to explore as it is very much like a public park in the States. The lunch at the Black River tour was great. Fried chicken with pineapple sauce, red peas and rice, and curried goat are served buffet style belong side Papaya juice and water. You only get one trip but they serve you enough that you won't need another. The tour is fun and you'll see some crocodiles and fish and birds, the more questions you ask, the better it will be.

YS falls & Black river boat safari

Both were great tours. Enjoyed the Black River Safari. The boat operator had such great humour that I could have lived on that boat forever. He kept us overwhelmingly entertained! We laughed so much. Crocodile sightings were great & amazing. Thank you for a great boat tour.

Don't miss it, well worth the cost

Very happy with the whole day and would recommend it. Initially, quite a long drive (from Negril) but it gave us chance to see some of the countryside. The boat trip up the river was interesting with the chance to see the various crocodiles in their natural habitat. They are clearly quite use to seeing all of the boats on the river and seemed quite docile but definitely would not risk a dip in the water with them. The pilot/guide on the boat was very informative and entertaining, with a lunch at the end of the trip which was more than adequate. After lunch we were then taken to the falls which was very pleasant. Due to my wife not walking very well, we did not walk fully up the falls or swim in the pools. Nevertheless, all the other guests there seeming to be fully enjoying themselves, including a rope swing and some paid extra for the zipline. Everyone on our minibus back to Negril said they had a good time but I would warn everyone that the standard of driving in Jamaica leaves a lot to be desired and that included our driver, to a lesser degree.

Crocodiles and Waterfalls and another Perspective on Jamaica

The River Safari was alot of fun and the Guide provided lots of interesting facts about the ecosystem of the river. Yes we saw huge crocodiles! Also many different bird ans mangrove forests. Trip was about 45 minutes at a relaxed pace. YS Falls were beautiful and it was nice to drive up into the mountains and through small towns and see how the average Jamaican lives. Lunch (jerk chicken) was included and the falls did not disappoint. Our guide kept our phones dry for us and took lots of pictures, they are very careful and make the activity as safe as possible. Highly recommend this activity!

Great experience

It was awesome and authentic experience. We had enjoyed every minute of the trip exploring the island and tasting local food. Warmly recommend to choose this trip.

Great day out!

Fantastic experience at the falls with lots of photos taken for us, the falls are stunning and would have liked to spend more time there. The river safari was chill and the guide knowledgeable. Also did the zip line at the falls and this was great! Our driver Razor was friendly and the vehicle clean and comfortable Overall a fantastic day out!

YS Falls & Croc Safari are a MUST DO

Troy was the best tour guide ever! He showed us local spice trees & leaves along the way. Gave info on each parish that we drove through to reach the falls and safari. Answered all of our numerous questions about his country. Guide at YS falls assisted us in climbing and even took photos with our phones. Beautiful area around the YS falls and we swam in the mineral pools. Excellent local lunch at the safari dock. Knowledgeable boat guide show us crocodiles that came right up to the boat. Tons of local birds. Get off the resorts and experience the wonders of Jamaica!

Fantastic guide

Troy was the most amazing driver and guide! He was so skilled and also knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions, and went out of his way to make our experience, memorable. He was the best thing about the whole experience!

Places were fab, trip was in someones car who kept stopping for shopping...felt rushed

Both black river and YS falls are well worth visiting. Been before on a Tui tour and loved it, but was the only boat not to see the crocodiles so had to come back. Expected a bus full of people but ended up with a guide and one other couple in a SUV car. Bit akward as had to sit separately (as other couple would not move the whole trip there and back). Driver started off with a little knowledge but soon lapsed into silence, then watched his video and answered his phone while drinving. We visited YS falls first and were told it would only take us 1 hr in there. Friends staying with us went on the Tui tour and spent a lovely 2 hours going up the falls, in the gift shop and cooling down in the beautiful pools. We felt rushed, and had to keep finding the other couple as he told us to come back alltogether. The Tui tour did Black River first, which allows you extra time at YS (which is needed). He spent most of the journey stopping off for his lunch/shopping (3 stops in all) I didn't pay £20 more than the Tui tour to come back 3 hrs earlier and spend the journey doing his shopping. Will definitely do the trip again, but will go with Tui. Our friends said their rep gave them loads of info all the way and engaged everyone and was really funny. Got to see the crocodiles though.

The falls are beautiful. We enjoyed the freshwater pools as well. The boat ride was lovely and the tour directors were fantastic.

Good Day Trip

Note: if coming from Negril expect the trip to take an hour and a half each way so come prepared. Black River Safari was slow and not very exciting. Good views from river. Gators are fed from boats so they will swim up looking for food. I could easily skip this tour next time. YS falls are well worth the trip. You get a tour guide to walk you through the falls and take pictures and videos. We got the opportunity to use the rope swing as well. Our tour got cut short due to rain/lightening but I would still go back.

Good Adventure

YS Waterfalls was a nice place to visit. The staff was awesome with maneuvering you over the slippery rocks and with the rope swing. They take pictures and video for you. The Black River Safari was a waste of time. As previously stated in the reviews boring float down the river, but we saw plenty of alligators. Maybe a little music and better commentary from guide will help liven up the tour. The lunch at the end was good. Our driver Razor was really good. He made the experience more enjoyable by stopping at local eateries. We were able to try the pepper shrimp, coco bread, and some spicy fish. Great customer service was provided by all!!

The Falls 2023

The Falls was so exciting. I’ve done the falls multiple times but my best friend had never experienced it. It was amazing this time around as well.

If you love nature BOOK THIS!

The most beautiful tourist attraction that I seen my entire trip. The first location is where the Falls are located along with other spring mineral pools- which makes the whole area ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. The Black River excursion was very breathtaking and informative! Staff for both excursions were very polite and hospitable!

Wonderful experience at YS falls

We enjoyed the experience. The sightseeing and being in the YS falls was just creare. I beleave the could be some improvements to the stair and gangways for safety. Otherwise, the service crew team was great. The other part of the tour to black river include a meal, but we found that the restaurant location and restaurant facility needs some basic improvements: no working restroom, stay dogs walking around the restaurant, the quality of the meal protein was bad, uncontril flies/bugs and most fan were not working.

Loved YS Falls and Black River

We loved YS Falls. We had a great guide who took great pictures for us. Very beautiful. Two boys 11 and 14 used rope swing to jump in several times. We also enjoyed the mineral pool. We had a great guide down the Black River. Saw crocodiles and guide provided lots of information. It was a long drive - about 2 and 1/2 hours. Our guide on the way there was informative about Jamaica. Our trip back with him was unpleasant. It seemed like something happened; but not sure what. He stopped at roadside and grabbed a corn on the cob snack for himself. He ate while driving, texted and talked on phone while driving. Drove very fast. It was uncomfortable.

Excellent fun trip...do it!!!

Black River safari was fun and informative. Lots of crocs in the water. YS falls was beautiful cool fresh water. We got lots of photos there, courtesy of Rick (THANKS MAN). Our favorite part was the zipline. Marquis and Torry took excellent care of us as we've never done it before. Those guys are the best. We highly recommend it. We went down 5 lines through the treetops and over the falls. Our driver Peter was very knowledgeable of the history of the area and one heck of a driver. If you've ever been to Jamaica, you know what I mean!!!

Great time

The guide, Clive, was great and informative. The ride was a little long, but the trip was well worth it. The falls are spectacular and the water was refreshing. The areas around the falls is very well kept. Safari was very good also, saw lots of crocs up close. Overall, must do tour when in Negril.

Fabulous Trip

What a lovely trip. Scott our driver was fantastic, we knew everything about Jamaica by the end of it! He even stopped for the best Mangoes on the side of the road..delicious. YS Falls is stunning, unfortunately there had been some rain so the water wasn’t clear but it didn’t matter as the cool water was so refreshing. The guides are great for getting you around the falls. The Black River Boat ride was amazing, very lucky to see 4 Crocs, ‘Philip’ was huge!!! The guide was very funny and full of knowledge. Highly Recommend, it’s a fabulous day out

Fantastic day out!

Fantastic day out. The Falls are stunning and worth the drive. Black River is beautiful with incredible wildlife. Definitely worth it.

Water, water everywhere

It was all fantastic. The waterfall was wonderful and the pools were lovely. Our guide took MANY photos for us. I got some great photos of the crocodiles along the river ride.

Not worth it

This was the only negative experience we had during our stay in Jamaica. The process was disorganized, our poor driver was sent to multiple wrong locations. Once we finally arrived, we missed the tour and had to wait for another one. The river boat is boring. We saw a handful of crocodiles and some birds, that was it. The boat captain was pleasant and informative, that was the positive. At YS falls we were dropped at the entrance without any idea of where to go, what to do, or who to do it with- we were left completely alone to figure it out. The falls are small with limited access to the water. We did go on the rope swing, even my youngest who is 10, it was very mild and easy for all of us to do. Our driver, Ranger, was the best driver of the entire trip. He gave us so much history and information about Jamaica and the people during our drive- very much appreciated. I needed an ATM also and he went out of his way to accommodate us. He was the highlight of our day.

Well worth the long journey from Negril!

Amazing day at the falls and well worth the long journey! The guide took our phone and took hundred of pictures and videos and gave us lots of different experiences in the falls. It’s an unforgettable experience! The River Boat tour was excellent too. Up Close and Personal with the Crocs! Great lunch and interesting wildlife. A day we will never forget.

Rastasafari Revelations!

Amazing. 5 Star Service. Everything was seemless. Jenieve picked us up and helped me find grater cake, Alicia took us to the ATVs and helped me up when I fell, Gilbert went out of his way to make sure our pictures were on point, Leroy help me gently jump into the river and get back out again safely. The vegan meal was the best meal ive had since I arrived in Jamaica. Wish I had discovered Rastasafari sooner and had brought more spending cash with me.

Great and exciting our driver Howard aka Howie was awesome and very friendly and a very good driver.Enjoyed the food,the black river cruise was great,loved seeing all the birds and alligators.

Just do it !

Absolutely brilliant trip. There was another couple on the trip and they were great. Our driver Clyero was amazing. He was friendly, informative and was responsive to our needs and requests. From Negril this is a long trip, but totally worth it. The Falls are stunning. Guides lead you through the falls and take loads of pictures on your own phone. A tip is much appreciated for this. Then a short drive on to Black River and lunch. This was very tasty and loads of it. Boarded the boat here for a ride on the river and to see the Crocodiles. Staff are very knowledgeable and I would think guaranteed to see a croc or 2!!! Not sure the YS Falls bit would be suitable for younger children as they are deep.

Enjoyable Excursion.. Long Drive

My husband and I really enjoyed the beautiful sights and rope swinging in the waterfalls! Seeing all of the crocodiles on the safari was really cool too, however, we had to wait until afterward to each lunch and were very hungry during the boat ride. It was also a 1.5 hour drive each way, so you have to be willing to spend a large part of the day in the car.

Family Fun

Although a very long drive from Negril, our driver Clyve (not sure how to spell) made it as entertaining as possible. YS falls and the property it sits on is absolutely stunning. Our guide at the falls took our camera without asking and took beautiful photos of our family. He refused to give it back until the end, he wanted and did capture each moment, it was so appreciated. Lunch at Black River was good, workers were very friendly. Our boat ride on the river was great, saw a huge well known croc and we had a great guide who educated us on the Black Rivers history. Highly recommend for families.

Great tour, long drive from Negril

YSFalls is absolutely beautiful. We loved the pool, grounds, falls and lunch. The Safari was fun, pretty & very interesting. The only thing we didn't like was it was 2 hour ride from negril. Also since it rained day before the water was brown & current was rapid. I was scared to go in water. Alot of people were going in & the workers were extremely helpful & accommodating. We were still glad to visit there during our vacation.

Fabulous

Loved both the Black River boat trip and YS Falls, but I think the Falls were just about the best. Driver friendly and knowledgeable as were guides at the different attractions. Only let down for me was the price - I thought it was a little expensive. But I would do it again.

If you love nature this is for you!

Had a great time on this tour and it ended with a great lunch and some shopping when leaving the falls. Dewayne was a great driver/guide and I’d recommend this tour for everyone, but it’s perfect for those that want to experience the beauty of Jamaica

Worth visiting both locations. We had a good time. The Black River Safari was fun and super relaxed and very informative. The YS falls are amazing and we are happy we went there.

This tour is a MUST!!!

Our tour guide was amazing! Took a beautiful ride to YS Falls, which looks like its right out of a storybook it’s so beautiful. The bonus is that most tourists go to Dunn’s Falls, so we had the place largely to ourselves. The guides there helped us through the waterfalls, then a dip in the pools, and we were off to an amazing lunch by the Black River. Then a boat ride on the Black River, and while on the boat, our very knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide told us all about the natural history of the area while identifying birds and naming crocodiles. It was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable day. If you take one tour, take this one! The scenery, the nature, and the people made this one of the best tours ever!!

Great Tour

We took this tour on February 13, 2020. The tour guide, Junior, was a very nice guy and accommodated all we asked. The Falls were beautiful and the guys there took incredible time in taking pictures on our own cameras. The Black River was fun with Captain C who had a very personal relationship with the crocs. Very fun day. Would highly recommend it.
