This has been one of the best guided heritage walk I have ever done. I am a heritage walk enthusiast and try to do one, if available in every place I go to, and this has been one of the best of all. Neeraj's way of taking you through the history of the place and his knowledge of the technicality of the water planning makes the place come to life for you. Water walk Nahargarh

Neeraj was super knowledgeable about the Fort and it's water system, and really made the Subject come to life. I took an afternoon tour and there were amazing views down to the City as the sun was beginning to set.

Fantastic heritage water walk tour

We took a 2 hour Nahargarh water walk tour. It was excellent - we saw many water structures and learned about how they were used in the ancient days. Also got to learn a lot about the culture of Rajasthan. Neeraj, our tour guide was great - very friendly and knowledgeable. He spoke English, Hindi and Marwari fluently. Highly recommended!

A must-do excursion into Jaipur’s past

I don’t usually sign up for guided tours but this one is just fantastic. You will learn a great deal about the historic water infrastructure of Jaipur and why it matters so much to understand it. How a great city got its water is a puzzle hiding in plain sight. This water walk puts the puzzle pieces together in a way you will not forget. It’s a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Beautiful and informative walk

Neeraj is an expert storyteller and really draws you in with his anecdotes and quotes as he walks you through the journey of water and water management at Nahargarh. He is super intentional with the planning and the way in which he takes you through the whole experience. One of my absolute favorite parts was that he uses visual aids so it’s easier to build a picture of how these systems were built and used. The experience in 100% worth every penny! Also he’ll take some great pictures! Haha

A tour you cannot miss in Jaipur

We did 2 tours with Neeraj. Both Ramgarh and Nahargarh. We were in double mind considering April heat and having our 8yr old daughter. However it was totally worth it. We started early by 645 for both the tours. Must say that the knowledge gathered by Neeraj for his tours is totally commendable. Displays his passion. It was completely different and off track of what you would otherwise expect from a “guide”. Extremely knowledgable and amazing insights. He also made it interesting with some unknown traditional facts about the state and short stories. Really appreciate the hard work that would have gone behind in designing such off beat tours. It’s a must for every Indian and totally worth the time for all foreigners coming to tour Rajasthan. Looking forward to more such curated tours from Neeraj so that we can take one whenever we visit Jaipur. Obviously keenly waiting to do Amer in the next visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience and back to back tours.

A truly different Jaipur experience

This was easily the highlight of an already memorable trip to Jaipur. Neeraj is incredibly knowledgeable and showcases the history of Nahargarh, Jaipur and Rajasthan through an extremely unique lens. One of the best heritage walks I've attended, and my only regret is not having enough time to do the other forts and his new Jaipur old fort

An eye opening walk

Walking in a small group with Neeraj, exploring the 'Now-hidden-from-eyes' phenomenal water management system of Nahargarh Fort was a most memorable experience. Great tour with lots of interesting history

We had a fantastic tour of the water systems of Nahargarh Fort. It was a totally unique look into how the underlying foundations of the fort and the civilization functioned thanks to ingenious systems of capturing, diverting and storing water. Neeraj was a wonderful guide, and we got to see some of the lands around the fort by foot. I've been on a lot of tours around the world, and this was a thoroughly one-of-a-kind experience. We also heard some interesting stories on how water, or rather lack of it, has shaped the state of Rajasthan and its cultures and traditions. Overall, highly recommend.

A walk through history

Neeraj's approach towards explaining the water system with different anecdotes was very interesting. Loved the whole walk, specially the spiral system.

It is such a pleasure and asset to history and tourism when someone knowledgeable and articulate decides to turn their passion into a profession! This tour is the best way to see and understand the architecture of the region and how and why water supply was fundamental to the history of Rajasthan and guides the way it was built and developed. The feats of early engineers are chronicled through the guide's extensive knowledge, anecdotes, and humour. Really worth doing this tour!

Absolutely Amazing!

This was an absolutely unique and truly amazing tour. We have travelled to a lot of countries and usually tours don't leave us thinking and contemplative like this one did. This is not a run-of-the-mill touristy experience but for those who truly want learn about the history of Rajasthan and specially the role water played in it. Neeraj is a very understanding and informative guide and his passion for Rajasthani culture and its deep ties to water shine through. The Perfect Patshala

It was a really interesting tour, not only was it extremely informative, it was very interactive and fun. We got to explore the place with a new lens, and time flew by like nothing. It was short trip and was easy to squeeze in even on a busy day! Definitely recommend this to anyone who is in Jaipur and wants to learn the history of Rajasthan!

A really fun activity with incredible insights into Rajasthan- an absolute must if you are in Jaipur!!

I belong to Jaipur but haven't really had the chance to explore beyond the usual cursory trips to Nahargadh and Amer... At the heritage water walk Neeraj helped me and my sister see a whole new side to the fort, peeling back slowly and bringing to life how the architects of the city thought about one commodity- water that would make it break a successful settlement. We walked through the old water channels around the fort and connected back with the beautiful stepwells, looking at how the more than three hundred year old water engineering still works pretty well - built to survive man, war and nature's wear and tear. Even though we belong to Rajasthan we had never connected the dots of how much of our culture and traditions revolve around water... all in all this was an incredible experience and a perfect way for me start my Birthday morning. The walk is pretty easy for most fitness levels and is done throughout the day, although we preferred the mounting tour. A must do if you are in Jaipur!!

A heritage walk par excellence

I have done a lot of heritage walks, but the Nahargarh Water Walk during my stay in Jaipur was undoubtedly one of the most interesting of them all. Peppered with stories and discoveries, Neeraj Doshi revealed a centuries old world of impeccable rain water harvesting which still functioned flawlessly to date. His passion and commitment to the topic made every minute of the walk through the forest, water catchment areas, channels and stepwells a feast to both the mind and the explorer in me. If there is one walk one should do when in Jaipur, it ought to be this one. It's an absolute gem!

Water, walk and wonderment

The walk with Neeraj was very informative while also being fun and not at all tiring! His knowledge and passion for the city and its history is very evident from his conversation. The story he has weaved with history, mythology and poetry in explaining the importance of water for the city, keeps you captivated! The walk was one of our favourite experiences in Jaipur! Must try for anyone visiting!

A (literal) walk through Rajasthani history

A must for both tourists and locals who want to know how the deserts of Rajasthan gave rise to a ‘water state’. As Neeraj will tell you, water percolates through every aspect of Rajasthani life, including its mythology, science, art, and culture. The tour (literally) takes you off the beaten path, through Mughal aqueducts, canals, and a stepwell. Neeraj is a masterful storyteller and a superb expositor of medieval engineering; I can't recommend the tour enough. Tip: Swap the shorts for full pants. Although on smooth ground, the tour takes you along paths less travelled, which means there's a fair bit of shrubbery around.

Best experience of our heritage

The research and effort put in by Neeraj to showcase/reveal the art and science of the water collection system designed by the erstwhile Maharaj Jaisingh II for Nahargarh Fort is awesome. This is a unique experience offered by no one else. To add to it, he has a bagful of tales and anecdotes and family experiences to share and relate about water, rain, clouds, epics, epochs, village culture, poetry, rich heritage of Rajasthan and it’s people which takes the experience of the walk to another level altogether. A must do for everyone.

Intriguing Exploration of Nahargarh with focus on water as a resource

The concept of the tour that Neeraj has designed is absolutely amazing. He has centered the tour around water, and that allows for a very rich exploration of the entire area. Over the course of the tour, we get to see the different architectural and design decisions that were made because of it. How the different parts of the fort collect water and how it is channeled. He also dives deeply into the importance of water in Rajasthani culture, which ties in very neatly to the things that we have been observing over the course of the walk. Nahargarh is a gorgeous area, with fantastic views on all sides. The walk lasts for about one and half hours, and is very well paced, as we see areas that maybe all visitors don't get to see. Neeraj is a fantastic guide and he knows a lot about all of the material that he discusses. Definitely would recommend this for all.

Belonging to Jaipur it is still hard to believe such beautiful waterways are hidden away so close to us ! My kids and I had an unforgettable experience thanks to Neeraj Neeraj… Lucky that it was raining and the water channels flowing was the sight of what they built 300 years back… do this heritage want to walk to believe it… Kudos Neeraj, you are dam good, amazing & have done a perfect R&D on this heritage water ways 👏🏼⭐️

Worth every minute!

I could not but wonder why did it take us so long to go on this Water Walk. It was an absolutely fantastic experience, filled with stories of resilience and celebration. Neeraj's knowledge of the history of Rajasthan is extensive and he is very receptive of queries. If you are in Jaipur, do go for the Nahargarh Water Walk. You wouldn't want to miss this experience!

What a wow!

We were a group of three excited women from Jaipur who ended the walk with a mix of awe and respect for our heritage. We covered the exterior of a part of the massive water network in the immediate exterior of the Nahargarh fort and the walk is a fantastic story telling of mind-blowing facts. The waterway flows into the existing flora and fauna rather than disrupting it and is therefore extremely picturesque. Neeraj's focus on details and linkages with similar waterways in other parts of Rajasthan made it even more interesting. What I loved was Neeraj's emphasis on detail and on the willpower of the people in making possible such intricate engineering marvels and sustaining them; it was refreshingly different from usual tour of palaces and forts. He also has a great sense of the bigger picture of the city of Jaipur and Rajasthan - the history, culture and architecture. I have visited Nahargarh so many times but this walk by Neeraj was magical indeed.
