Great Family Adventure Day

We're a family of five - which includes 3 kids 22, 20, 17 - first time rafting like this - Nico and Orlando and the whole team were great, some families younger than ours, adrenaline spikes for sure but it was very safe and well orchestrated, very safe breakfast and lunch were great touches, bus pickup on time, kids favorite day of the trip, highly recommend

This is by far one of the greatest experiences of my life. The staff was incredible especially Leandro. They made sure everything and everyone was safe even though the rafting at times was scary as can be. Can’t wait to do it again.

Fantastic trip, awesome guides

Outstanding trip. Outstanding guides, Jairo, Leandro and Johnathan. Punctual hotel pick up in Los Suenos, 1:15 hour drive to Quepos. Met our guide at a quaint local roadside restaurant, treated to a nice breakfast, great food, super clean bathrooms with showers, small convenience store for drinks and snacks. Next 30 minutes drive to reach the launching point up the Savegre river. The most informative and enjoyable drive among the palm oil plantations, with a few short stop spotting wildlife, Sloths, Macaws, frogs, or cinnamon bark, picking and tasting Starfruits and Rambutan right of the trees among many others thanks to our very knowledgeable, funny local guides, kids loved it. Thorough safety briefing before launch and the most fun we had this whole week. 20 minutes stop at a beautiful waterfall. At the end of the rafting, refreshments and fresh fruits are waiting for you. While your guides load the rafts on the bus. And you will be treated to a lunch back at the same roadside restaurant, where you can change snd shower before heading back to your hotel. 1st class all the way, and as much world travel as I do, I use this descriptive sparingly. Five star day

We had a great day white water rafting. The guides were excellent and I always felt safe. I was thinking lazy river, but this was not!! True river rafting. Added bonus visiting a waterfall & going behind it. Breakfast, snack and Lunch were delicious. 5 star day!!

Unbelievable views of nature to and from the river. The rafting trip down river is breathtaking from start to finish. Breakfast &lunch included is a bonus as well as the fresh fruits on the river. All guides and support personnel were first class.

Exhilarating

Brilliant experience from start to finish, from the breakfast through to afternoon meal, really great, safe fun. Would definitely do again. Just the trip up to the start was an experience and worthwhile

Wonderful trip!!

Had an AMAZING time on our rafting trip. Breakfast and lunch was included for our morning trip. I knew about lunch but not breakfast. Both were buffet meals. It was about an hour drive from our hotel to the put in spot. We rode with two of our guides up and both were very friendly and talked about the different things we were seeing on the drive down. Once at the water we were split into groups. Our guide Orlando was FANTASTIC!! Would highly recommend him as well as the entire group. All the guides worked together to make it a great experience for everyone… including great photos as well as videos. I would suggest bringing cash as photos/videos were cash only once back at the lunch spot.

White Water Rafting

The river was fun with Class 11 and 111 rapids. Nicolas was a funny and knowledgeable tour guide. I enjoyed the ride from the restaurant to the start of the white water rafting through the jungle and various small villages. The transportation to and from Jaco was a disaster. We were picked up 45 minutes late and they didn’t seem to have or understand the location that I had provided in advanced. On the way home, I think they wanted us to wait another 45 minutes or so until another group returned so we could carpool. Since we had people in our group that needed to go to the airport, they hired us a different driver so we could leave immediately.

Absolutely Great Experience

This experience far exceeded our expectations. It was both thrilling and "scary". We had an in-boat pro, Roberto, who was bent on making sure we had a great experience. For safety, Ronaldo led the way in a kayak. Along the way, in between rapids, we stopped at a powerful waterfall and were able to swim in a pool at its base. In addition to the exciting rapids, the expansive views were often breathtaking. My only regret is that I didn't try white water rafting years ago...

Do this activity! You won’t regret it!

Great trip with great guides. Highly recommend! They will take good care of you on the river and feed you a good breakfast and lunch at an authentic Costa Rica restaurant.

Awesome trip.

Pick up was prompt, about an hour drive to a road side cafe for a typical Tico breakfast which was great. Met the rest of the group there to head toward the river. The advertisement leaves out the hour plus dirt road climb to the launch site but we saw a lot and our guide kept us informed about the surrounding country side, so it was ok too. We had four full rafts, a safety kayak, and a photographer. The river runs swift and rapids run too often to have your own photo shooting opportunities. The digital photos and video they sell at the end were actually an ok price and very good. I think our guide was at first disappointed he had an older group but we warmed up to each other and it was a great trip. Jira stopped us often to see animals and birds and we enjoyed his narration. He was very skilled. Having rafted a half dozen rivers in the US, I could tell he was hitting the spots he wanted to and took us through the best spots in the rapids. The river itself did not disappoint. Of course the season and the rain level makes a difference but what we got was great. Plenty of class 2 and 3 action with great spacing. Not really any slow spots, just a couple of relaxing places to hop in and float with the boats. Lost track exactly but think we were on the water for an hour fifteen or so. I’ve done much longer trips to only get what we got in that time though. We were very happy with the river action and our guide. When we egressed there was a snack of fresh fruit we ate while the crew loaded the rafts. A much shorter trip back to the cafe where I had great mahi mahi and sides which like breakfast was included. We purchased our photos and took our hour plus ride back to Jaco’. So picked up at 0745 and got back about 1545. Great day. Would do it again for sure.

Awful tour guide : great excursion

Beautiful views and great rafting. Our stocky tour guide with the buzz cut ( not worth remembering his name) was awful. Screamed at my daughter during the introduction and throughout the excursion and made condescending remarks throughout our trip . He would splash us multiple times ( 1st 5 times were funny) while on the relaxing / scenic parts of the cruise. Even after mentioning we would prefer to get splashed with the real rapids, he continued to splash us throughout the excursion. Extremely annoying. I’m a 55 year old woman who can climb just fine. However, offering a hand to climb into the truck would have been courteous. Instead they sat in the truck with their headphones on. Go on this excursion , but ask for the long haired tour guide. You’ll know who he is because he was the only one to welcome the guests with a hello or hola.

Awesome experience! They pick us up from our hotel, provided breakfast and lunch, fruits, and everything else. It was a lot of fun and the guide was experienced and knowledgeable. The lunch they provided was delicious too! Clean restaurant and restrooms. Highly recommend.

Amazing

This company was a class act!!! We were treated to breakfast before leaving to the river. During the hour trip, Ruper, kept us entertained and educated us about the area. Our raft guide, Hiro, was amazing as well. He guided us through t rapids, educated us on the area, and was a great guy! When we returned to the restaurant, we were treated with a delicious lunch. I definitely recommend this excursion

Great rafting experience!

Our party of 9, ranging from 12-81, had a great day rafting down the river!! The scenery was beautiful and the guides were friendly and professional. Wonderful way to spend the day!

So much fun and very safe!

What a fun and exciting activity to do while in Costa Rica! I was worried about taking my 8 yo, but once we got in the raft it was so safe and I didn’t worry at all during the the rafting. Jairo, our guide was awesome and made us feel safe and showed us a great time! I would definitely do it again. This was my husbands fav activity we did several (ziplining, ATV riding, and waterfall rappelling).

One of the best ways to spend a day in Costa Rica.

The guide (Mario) was excellent. Good river guide and very personable. The ride up the valley to the put in was incredibly beautiful.

Mild Not Wild - Fun Day of Rafting

Our trip was in February during the dry season, so the rapids were mild not wild, manageable for first timers. The guides were fun and informative, appropriately concerned about safety, and gave good instructions. We lucked out and had Erik as our guide! He was friendly and entertaining; he is usually the kayaker. The scenery along the river is beautiful. The ride was mostly relaxing with blips of excitement as you traverse the rapids. Tucanes was prompt and communicative. They picked us up at our hotel and retrieved other guests on the way as well. The ride to and from the river was long, approximately 2 hours each way. Snacks were fresh fruits, water and ice tea. The lunch was fresh and delicious. I would like to do the tour again when rapids are a bit more challenging! Tuncanes Tours does a great job. Pura Vida! 🤟

The guides were funny, polite and professional. All 6 of us had loads of fun! Although no one in our group fell out we all got thoroughly wet!

White Water Rafting Review

My family and I had such a great experience River Rafting with Nicolas as our guide. We didn’t feel unsafe at any point while going down the river, even though we were all inexperienced. The food was also amazing, try the plantains and rice!

This trip was amazing well worth the money. Our pick up team George and Mono were great. They were followed by more great guides. Orlando was personable and an expert in rafting. He made our trip smooth and fun even with our kids 13 &14. They were knowledgeable about animals, plants and the river. We were beyond happy with the experience they all provided and it's a locally owned business. This is a great trip to take for the whole family. Best river rafting in Costa Rica.

A must do when in Costa Rica!

A must do! The guides brought the energy and the laughs! Nico is very knowledgeable and made the long drive to the river a breeze with his fun facts and sense of humor. Orlando was our raft guide and he was playful, but made us feel safe! The scenery is breathtaking and the water is beautiful!

First Class and a terrific value.

Tucanes Tours has customer treatment down. Pedro picked us up at our door in a spacious, comfortable, luxury van and brought us 90 minutes south from Jaco Beach to a wonderful little cafe where we enjoyed a balanced, light breakfast. On the way to the drop in spot our guide, Marco, pointed out the diversity of Costa Rica's plants, economy, and common aspects of life in CR. I really enjoyed this aspect of the trip. The water and rafting experience were idyllic (mid-February)--we especially liked the interactions with the other rafters and guides of other boats (Nicholas). Our rafting was interrupted for a short period where we ventured off to take in an impressive water fall then we finished up with fresh fruit and liquids. A short trip back for lunch and then doorstop service from Pedro. This was the highlight of our trip--pre-teen and teenage kids loved it!

5 Star Tour. Great Company to use!

We had a great time with Tucane Tours. They kept us informed on Costa Rica during the drive from Jaco. Breakfast was great. Then we had a fun drive up to the launch point. Guides were very informative We had a quick safety talk and a practice run getting us plenty wet and ready for the day. We had so much fun the whole day with our guides. Our tour ended up being a big inside joke with the guides as we searched for Aussie along our way. That’s just an indication of how well they did on the overall experience - have fun with your guides and the whole day is a better experience! Super Mario had a fantastic fruit spread for us and then we still had a lunch awaiting

Excellent excursion with Orlando!

Excellent excursion! Orlando was the best guide ever, ensured our safety (1st time rafting) while guaranteeing the most fun from start to finish. Because we had a great time, we spent the extra $$ for photos and videos. Not the best hotel pick-up/drop-off, which is why this isn’t rated 5 stars.

Costa Rican wonderful experience

Nicholas was a great guide. Wonderful experience seeing Costa Rican nature on the way to the drop in point. The rafting was fun and we plan to do it again with Tucanes Tours again. Breakfast and lunch was wonderful as well.

Don’t miss out it’s so worth it

We were beginners and the trip was perfect for us so much fun - rapids were perfect and only one person fell in but we quickly did a rescue that they taught us and he was back in the raft in seconds!

BEST EVER!!!!

I have to admit that I was very hesitant to take my eight and nine year old girls on this rafting adventure….but the moment the boat hit the water I felt comfortable. The guides were amazing, they made you feel very safe and it was very obvious that they knew exactly what they were doing. My kids loved it! We loved it! Mario made it extra special. He made my kids feel calm and made the trip extra fun. He knew all about the local fruits and plants and taught us a lot. DO THIS ADVENTURE!!!! Amazing family fun

Orlando, Miguel and Antonio are amazing guides and hosts. Mario top! We learned so much about the countryside on the ride up and had an absolute blast on the river. Food was amazing- definitely worth doing. The views are breathtaking and the river is fun and safe- at least when the water is low.

Nice river trip

Very nice float trip. Our guides were friendly, helpful and informative. Only caveat was low water made the trip pretty tame. Visited in mid January, beginning if dry season.

Did not get picked up.....

Booked a trip through Costa Rica Holiday Rentals for a 7 AM pick-up......waited until 7:30 and called....no answer....... 8 AM security at our condo found the manager's phone #......apparently our p/u was missed......no call or e-mail. Offered us a 1/2 day tour for same price........then $55 off of a $380 total. Opted for a full refund instead.

Excellent rafting tour

This is a wonderful tour/experience, the highlight of our trip. Everyone from our river guides, Marcos and Orlando to the driver Super Mario were excellent. The rafting was so much fun and just the right length for our family (8 and 13 year olds) there were more rapids than I was expecting and some were quite thrilling. The cool water felt great on a hot day. We stopped and walked to a really cool waterfall and our guide even showed us how to go behind the waterfall which was quite a thrill, my son loved it. The drive through a palm tree plantation was also interesting. We saw lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery, many waterfalls and tropical birds. The lunch at the end was very good. I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Whitewater Rafting Experience!

My father and I had and amazing experience whitewater rafting with Tucanes Tours in Costa Rica. We had transportation ready to pick us up from Jaco Beach and learned a bunch about the history of Costa Rica on the way to the whitewater location. From there, it was nothing but laughs and smiles from preparing for the tour to getting in the water and heading down river. Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and personable. We felt like we had made new friends by the time the tour was over! The experience on the river was refreshing with some intense moments as well. We felt safe and the thrills kept coming as we ventured down the river. I would highly recommend Tucanes Tours if you are looking for an unforgettable experience. Thank you for the great time!

A fun and beautiful white water experience in Costa Rica

Justin was our guide on the raft and we had a marvelous time. The staff provided a nice breakfast before our trip to the beginning of the raft trip, a snack of fruit and juice at the conclusion and a great lunch after the trip back. I will say the hot lunch of chicken and rice prepared in such a way exceeded expectations. The river was low and so the rapids for the most part were class 1.5 to class 2.5. A description would not be complete without mentioning the beauty and the lush vegetation and ecosystem surrounding the river. However, it was white water most of the way. In the first third of the trip, there was an area where we were encouraged to jump in the water and swim with the current. The water was extremely comfortable. Near the end, there was a quarter mile walk to a great waterfall. On a 90 degree day, it was great to put your head under waterfall. I will add it would be a difficult trip without water shoes. Water shoes are also helpful for the 200 yard or so walk at the conclusion of the raft trip to the truck. Also, on a trip like this DON'T FORGET SUN SCREEN. Staff worked hard and I recommend the trip. Full disclosure on travel: 75 minutes from our hotel in Los Suenos to the "meeting place near Quopos; 1:45 to the raft site; a 10 KM raft ride, then an hour from the end of the raft site to the "meeting place" (breakfast and lunch) and the back to Los Suenos. Again, for us the trip was great and I recommend it.

Excellant Tour

From pick up to drop off everything was great. We had a four person raft for the two of us and Marcos our guide. Jonathan was the safety and line spotter in a forward kayak. The drive up to the put in was a one hour trip with lots to see in the jungle. Marcos lives up the road so he said hello to many friends. We were given a good safety lesson and put in easily. We quickly hit Class 3 water and continued to enjoy many rapids for almost two hours, stopping for a short walk to a large waterfall. Marcos gave us clear instructions when to paddle and made the trip fun and very wet! They gave us fruit after, then the ride back to the office and a tasty casado lunch. The weather was wonderful. I would do this again! Definitely take extra dry clothes for after. You will be soaked.
