Amazing wildlife tour!

Giana was an amazing guide! We would have missed 90% of the animals without her keen eye. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and passionate about the wild life of Costa Rica.

Beyond her sharp eye to spot all kinds of animals, no matter how far or how small, she continuously fostered a fun and laid back atmosphere that helped the entire group connect and have a great time together! And, in fact, she was so eager to ensure we all had the best from the tour that, many many times, she even took pictures herself with our semi-pro camera - some animals are real masters in hiding in plain sight, and we can only wish we had her sharp eye! We definitely recommend Giovanna and the Carara tour!

It was such a wonderful...

It was such a wonderful experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable and experienced. She helped us to see many animals that we wouldn’t have been able to spot on our own. Furthermore, she shared the stories for each of them. It was a pity that our time together was too short. She was willing to spend longer time with us but it was getting dark. Wished we arrived earlier than scheduled time as she did.

Great tour guide, beautiful place

Ronald was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a poison dart frog, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, agoutis, and several species of birds. It was very muddy and humid, a beautiful place!

Amazing tour with Geovanna!

We loved our guided tour at Carara national park with Geovanna! The park is beautiful, was not crowded , we got to see a lot of monkeys, birds, scarlet macaw, agutis. Geovanna was such an amazing guide, passionate, so nice, and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot! She spotted a bird eating a grasshopper, was awesome! The whole family enjoyed the tour, is ranked it number 1 in our trip so far, thanks to Geovanna!

Our tour guide, Ronald, was amazing! He is extremely knowledgeable about the creatures in the park and really cares about giving the customer the best service. He spotted a 1 inch sized hummingbird to show us. The park is spectacular as well.

Excellent guided tour of the park!

Our guide Ronald was amazing. He found so many animals that we would.never have seen. He would hear the birds call and then find them using his spotting scope to help us see them up close. He even took photos on our phone through the spotting scope. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and the animals.. i Highly recommend having a guide if visiting the carara Park as Ronald found birds, iguanas, howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, poison Dart frog (explained why it's poisonous) and so much more! Thank you Ronald! I have never booked on viator before and we had this tour and one other. Both were perfect. Will use viator again!

Wonderful Tour - Great guide !

We did a waling tour of Carara National park. Our guide was simply brilliant, so friendly and engaging. Geovanna was incredible in spotting things in the jungle, a master with a field glass, she was terrific in ensuring everyone got a look and also helped a ton with taking pictures through the telescope / field glass. I would highly recommend this tour and certainly Geovanna. This was a top highlight of our trip to Costa Rica.

Geovanna is the best! You can tell she is so passionate about this tour! She will run with her telescope on the trail to get the perfect location for us to take photos!! I am so amazed by how quickly she can spot animals that are so far away and hidden without any equipment. She knocks it out of the park with how much information she knows! Unforgettable experience! Geovanna was a wonderful tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and had a great eye and ear. We were able to see the Scarlet Macaws, bat, monkeys, and much more animals. She took her time to answer her questions and was able to get us great videos and pictures using the binoculars. The hike was overall easy, due to the rains there was a lot of mud. Definitely bring waterproof boots or shoes you don't mind ruining if it has been raining.

Geovanna was such an amazing guide, she could identify so many different birds by their sound only. As our highlights we saw a Toucan and Spider Monkeys and she went out of her way to show us the Aras.

An amazing experience!

Geovanna was amazing, very knowledgeable and perceptive of her surroundings. She spotted monkeys in the forest canopy, parrots, toucans and many other creatures of the rain forest, and provided us great photos on our phones through her telescope.

Unforgettable Tour With Ronald

We had an amazing day at Carara. Ronald was our guide and he was the absolute best! Friendly, so knowledgeable and a great sense of humor. We were there just a few days after heavy storms had closed the park for a couple weeks. We weren’t sure what to expect, but we saw SO MUCH! Anteater, parrots, spider monkeys, howlers, poison dart frogs, agoutis, hammer lizards, hummingbirds, and too many other small birds to even count. Ronald was a total pro and we probably wouldn’t have seen even half of the animals we saw without him. I know it’s the luck of the draw, and we felt grateful to be there on a lucky day.

Ronald was wonderful. My husband and I booked a last-minute tour, and Ronald was our guide. His knowledge of the rainforest and the birds and animals in it mage our experience unforgettable. We saw monkeys, lizards, snakes, birds, macaws, and more. We told him what we were looking for and he found them.

Visit the park with a guide

Today, we visited the park together with our guide Geovanna. Compared to yesterday, when we visited the park on our own, we saw so many animals today. This included a.o. the macaws, three types of monkeys, peccaries and many birds. Geovanna really has a sharp eye to spot them all, and nothing was too much. We would really recommend her!

Amazing

My wife and I had an amazing experience, we were fortunate enough to see all the animals we planned on seeing, But most importantly we simply wouldn't been able to get that experience without our amazing and very knowledgeable and spotted all the small details we wouldn't have...Giovanna is the best she made sure we saw the makaws before we left and we did...thanks Giovanna

A magical experience

We saw SOOO many animals! Giovanna has such an incredible eye. We saw spider moneys, white faced capuchin monkeys, curassow birds, an amazing blue tarantula, millipedes, crested iguanas, the Jesus Christ iguana, the poison dart frogs, iridescent blue moths, neotropical land crabs, a beautiful red headed woodpecker, and so much more! And Giovanna was incredibly knowledgeable ; she made the story of the leaf cutter ant a compelling soap opera! She’s super passionate and very sensitive to the animals needs. And she explained how all these lives fit into the ecosystem. She truly shared the magic of this place with us. You’d be lucky to have her as a guide. And the park had such an easy flat trail, it was great to focus on the animals and not a strenuous hike.

A great place to visit

The tour was great. We saw a variety of birds, fauna, monkeys, etc. The tour guide, Geavanna was superb. Very knowledgable and wonderful with my family. Well worth what we paid. Highly recommended.

Really good experience with our guide, would recommend

We had Johanna as our guide and she was the best. She was literally running to find us the best views of animals. She is really passionate about what she does and it shows by all the informations that she told us about all the species of birds, spiders, snakes, monkeys and more. She was really kind and generous. No animals and only 2 small birds a frog a butterfly and that was it.

We had an Awesome guide but there just weren’t any animals or birds to speak of. She tried her very best. I think her name was Giovanni. I highly recommend her.

Geovanna was OUTSTANDING!

The views were amazing, but the tour guide Geovanna was even more amazing. You can tell she had a huge passion for animals and wildlife. I myself am an animal lover and it was so awesome to learn so many new things about the animals in Costa Rica. We looked for around 2-3 hours for a monkey because it was my favourite animal and we had no luck. Geovanna made it her life mission to find one and we drove around town to find one, and we did! Thanks Geovanna you were the bes. I would highly recommend this to everyone, especially if you have a passion for animals.

A great guide of Carara Park

Ronald wS an exceptional guide. He was very personable and extremely knowledgeable on all the species of birds, animals, insects, plants, trees, etc. I especially liked that he had memorized the book pages showing the photo and info of every bird observed. I am extra thankful that he took us to the special place where we observed many scarlet macaws feasting on almond trees.

Beautiful nature

We had a great experience with Geovana. She was an amazing guide. Went over and beyond to try and find wildlife for us to see. We were lucky enough to see saw spider monkeys and beautiful macaws.

Best Carara tour in Costa Rica!

We had an amazing visit to Carara with Govana! She was as knowledgeable as anyone could be, found all the animals we asked about and some extras along the way. Her enthusiasm and excitement for the natural environment is contagious and Costa Rica is better having her as an ambassador. Recommend this to anyone looking to have a visit to Carara or anywhere she guides. Can say enough good things!

Great time!!!

It was my best day in Costa Rica so far! Ronald and Jairo were so sweet and helpful and very welcoming and they made me feel so safe!!! They became my friends and they showed me so many beautiful places! I would go with them to any other place in Costa Rica because I know I can fully trust them and I really enjoyed my time with them - great people!

Great excursion

Giovana gave us a great tour in the wild. It was very informative. Nice to see all the amials in their own habitat. I would recommend G&R Adventure Tours for sure.

See Monkeys Up Close!

We had a very nice visit to Carara National Park. Our guide was knowledgeable and very attentive. He knew where to look for the animals, and that was especially important since where we only saw dark green foliage, he spotted a sloth, white faced monkeys, sleeping bats, and even a howler monkey snoozing way up on a tree limb! The animals were at some distance from us, but our guide had a nice scope on a tripod that allowed us to see them close-up and he used it with our cell phones to get great pictures. Viator made it very easy to book this trip, especially since we called the night before to book it!

10/10 for birders and solo travel

I could not recommend this tour enough. It was during slow season so I ended up having the tour to myself. Geovanna went above and beyond to show me all of the places to find birds once she knew I was birder. We saw so many species of wildlife and she provided me so many facts about the park, the animals, and the country. I was able to arrange transportation through the tour for an additional fee and she went out of her way to go to a known place to spot Macaws because we didn’t see any in the park. It was an incredible experience, highly recommend.

Incredible day in Carara

We had a fantastic day in the jungle today. If you are also planning a jungle tour in Carara NP, there is only one guide, and that is Ronald. We saw many rare bird species and he took a lot of time for us. He even made it possible for us to meet the macaws. Thank you very much and pura vida from Switzerland!

Nice walk through nature

Geovanna gave us a wonderful tour of this park. We saw so many birds and lizards and insects that we would have never seen without her. We got amazing close ups through her scope! She even made a stop at the crocodile bridge for us to see. She was a pleasure and taught us so much about the animals and the country. We had a great experience. Thank you so much. Pura Vida!

Carara guided visit | Great experience

Thanks to our guide Ronald, we had a great time visiting Carara (3.5 hrs). Ronald was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very good at spotting all kinds of species. We had a small group (4 in total) and the park was not crowded. We saw aras, monkeys, tarantulas, moths, bats (white and black), frogs, and many types of birds. The park is stunning. Thanks a lot to Ronald for the great visit, I completely recommend the guided visit!

Best tour ever

Two thumbs up!

Geovanna was our tour guide. Outstanding! She had a keen eye and was able to find everything we wanted to see including a Sloth. Amazing energy, friendly and above and beyond. Jairo our driver was excellent. Safe driver, very fun to be around and also did a great job. I would definitely be happy to use them again. The only recommendation to Viator was to clarify better payment for adding transportation to the excursion.

Fantastic park and tour guide

Carara National Park is filled with wildlife that we would not have been able to see if it were not for our guide Ronald. Ronald was amazing at being able to spot animals and birds, and put them in focus on his telescope for us to see. Ronald answered all of our questions and he is a wizard at knowing birds and bird calls. Ronald truly loves his job as a guide. I liked Carara National Park better than Manuel Antonio, as it was less crowded. We also saw more animals up close at Carara. I highly recommend Carara National Park and Ronald as your guide.

Our tour guide was very informative and it was a nice walk, we saw a sloth eating too, which is rare. Saw many birds and monkeys and we went in the morning before it was too hot. Randall I believe was our tour guides name, maybe Randy, and he told the best stories about the jungle that were factual and interesting

Hiking in Carara National Park

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and the hiking was perfectly suited for beginners and seniors. We were able to see a baby sloth, scarlet macaws, toucans, poisonous dart frogs, leaf cutter and army ants, native birds, a rare white bat, we heard and saw Howler monkeys and the trail had many huge old trees along the way.

Best guided tour we had in Costa Rica

Probably most exciting reserve tour we had during our 2 weeks at Costa Rica. Tour guide Andrey was so energetic and informative. He went way above traditional route to make sure we saw Red Macaw

Fantastic tour thank you Geovanna!

Book this trip! Geovanna our guide was lovely and friendly, and she has incredible spotting skills and telescope skills! Thanks to Geovanna we got to see over 25 different species including a sloth, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, a tarantula (asleep in its nest) and some super cute bats. Geovanna also shared lots of her knowledge of the park with us, and is clearly passionate and proud of this beautiful place. Had we walked round on our own we would have seen nothing much so this tour is very worthwhile! We didn’t see scarlet macaws in the park itself but Geovanna knew where to find them so we drove two minutes down the road and she showed us a pair at their nest.

Best last minute decision we made!

Geovanna and Daniele were AMAZING!!!!! They asked us what we wanted to see and arranged it perfectly. They already had the telescope set up on a sloth at the entrance, I literally do not how they spotted the stuff they did. They taught us a lot about Costa Rica. Communication was great. We saw sloth, family of howler monkeys, 3 kinds of bats, yellow throated toucan, brown vine snake, so many other birds and animals. We forgot to bring water and they had some extra on hand. We are so so so glad we booked this last minute. They adjusted the telescope for my children to see easier, they were a plethora of knowledge about all of the flora and fauna. I was so impressed and so happy we booked this! They took photos through the telescope with our phones as well. The trail was easy, nice and flat, didn’t get too hot until the end. Geovanna is a certified guide and has been doing this for over 15 years and you could tell, it was so amazing to learn from her. Don’t miss us out!

Geovanna was the most amazing guide

Geovanna made this experience for us! As a guide, she was knowledgeable and dedicated to sharing her wonderful National Park with us. In addition, she was incredibly kind, helping our 2 and 4 year old children along the way. What a wonderful way to see part of Costa Rica.

Carara National Park an easy access to Costa Rica wildlife

Carara is one of the many national wildlife refugees in Costa Rica. It is close to Jako and San Jose and its easy access makes it a popular destination. When we vistited, there was a steady stream of visitors, but nothing like the press of tourists we experienced at Manuel Antonio. The park is accessible in two entrances. You need to purchase your entrance ticket at the main gate. The second gate is a few kilometers down the road. A guard was there to check for an entrance ticket. While the park is lovely and has nicely maintained paths, the trails are all very close to the highway. The road noises drowns out any wildlife calls (I read somewhere that the human noise confuses birds and reduces bird calls). It was dissapointing and our guide (who was very well-informed) mainly showed us wildlfe that wasn't moving (like sleeping bats, lizards and snakes). We had better luck at the second, quieter entrance where we saw more birds and mammels.
