Loch Ness Cruise and Urquhart Castle visit from Inverness

We cancelled the tour. We are still waiting for our card to be credited back for the amount of the cruise.

Avoid this excursion

We’ve had some wonderful tours on this trip but this was not one of them. Avoid this excursion and book something else! Linda the driver arrived with barely any time before the tour started and the bus wouldn’t initially go into drive and she needed help to get it going (apparently this wasn’t her “usual” bus). We were late for the Lochness cruise and had to race for the boat. Urquhart castle was very interesting but when we returned to the bus we were told it was still not running well and the boarding door opposite the driver would not close. We were told that it would be 3 hrs if we had to wait for a new bus so Linda had passengers help her close and tie the door closed with plastic bags. The door had to be held the entire trip back by the two passengers sitting in the front seat, and it is amazing it didn’t fly open, and it was quite cold with the air coming in the door. Linda then took us on what she termed the “scenic route” which was much longer and not very scenic at all (basically a very winding wooded road) and somewhat nauseating. All the while, the bus made a high pitched noise since it was “malfunctioning” according to Linda. Also the microphone would not work and people at the back of the bus could not hear.

Fantastic day

Absolutely fantastic trip Steve the tour guide was brilliant. The cruise on loch Ness was amazing and the scenery was breathtaking would highly recommend this tour excellent value for money would definitely book again.

A must trip when in Inverness

This was a well organised trip. Turned up at the bus station and welcomed by the tour operator. Our tour guide/driver was Linda who was excellent. She was very well organised, knowledgeable and kept us entertained throughout the whole tour. There was no waiting as we got off the coach and straight onto the boat. Plenty of seating and the crew were very helpful. Drinks are offered on the cruise at a cost. Straight off the boat and onto see the castle. It’s a bit of an up hill walk to the visitors centre which is also the exit but there are seats available for a rest and they do offer a buggy service if required. You get and hour at the castle which for me was enough time. I would recommend this trip as it is definitely value for money.

Cruise fun

We did the Temptation Tour - bus ride to the boat, cruise to Urquhart, explore the castle, then bus ride back to Inverness. Bus driver was great, cruise was fabulous, and Urquhart had amazing views. One of the best parts was the film/history in the castle visitor center, which we might not have done if the bus driver hadn't recommended it. This part of our trip was one of my husband's favorites.

Very enjoyable

Enjoyable cruise on Loch Ness even though it was quite cold on the upper deck. Urquhart Castle was very interesting, very picturesque. Staff was polite, friendly and efficient. Well worth doing.

Loved it!

The boat ride was great, and the tour guides for both the bus and boat were wonderful. My only complaint is I wish the stop at the castle had been a little longer.

Great tour of Loch Ness & Inverness Castle

This was a very well run tour. We left Inverness Bus Station at 2 :15 PM and drove to catch out cruise of Loch Ness that took us to Urquhart Castle and we toured there for about 45 minutes and then caught our bus back and returned before 6 PM. A very nice way to spend out afternoon. Michael our tour bus driver was very friendly and gave us interesting details about the areas we drove by and some historical context during the drives, and on the cruise Ian gave us good commentary about the lake and the buildings on the shoreline, with humor. Our timing was just perfect so that we caught the free 4 PM commentary led by the Urquhart Castle staff which was quite informative. Well worth the price.

Good two hour tour.

Nice way to spend 2 hours. You have a short cruise on Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle. Once there you have time to explore the castle before boarding for the trip back. Parking can be tricky if you book an early timeslot due to tour buses.

Great views

A good way to spend an afternoon. The views of the countryside from Loch Ness were fabulous and Castle Urquart ruin by the side was very pretty.

Lochness and Urquhart castle tour

This was a fab tour made all the better by our tour guide Linda .She was very knowledgeable about the area and also good fun .I would definitely recommend this tour .

Rebooked

Excellent cruise even though it rained the entire trip. We missed our 9:45 booking because of the rain & getting lost. You were kind enough to put us on the next sailing at 12 noon.

Loch Ness like Glass

The lough was like glass and the reflections were spectacular. Commentary was entertaining and informative both on the boat and bus.

Wonderful experience!!

I would say the memorable was of course visiting the castle and watching the film of Urquhart. Definitely loved learning about the history. However, i wish we had more time to spend at the castle, 60 mins is not long enough and definitely felt rushed.

Just what we wanted

A short scenic coach ride to the boat with a friendly, informative driver. The boat ride was lovely and just the right length. The visit to the castle ruins was informative and enjoyable. The coach ride back to Inverness took a different, even more beautiful route.

Rude and Unhelpful Staff

Unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude. It was raining and the staff stayed inside while watching everyone stand outside. When I asked if my 81-year old father could have shelter, the captain of the boat replied “Why did you even come to Scotland?”

Nice experience, eases things out

No frills tour, but eases out the ness cruise and urquhart castle experience. You don't have to worry about public transportation timings (public transport if quite poor in Inverness). Would highly recommend.

Recommend and great value

Very enjoyable morning trip. Our coach driver Linda was very informative and entertaining. The boat trip to Urquhart Castle left on time and again was informative.

Don’t miss this fantastic cruise

What a beautiful place and such a peaceful, relaxing cruise. Urqhuart Castle was great too. I highly recommend this cruise to anyone who is going to Scotland!

Must do tour in Inverness!

The tour is fantastic and absolutely worth the price! Our guide was so informative and the drive back from Urquhart Castle was absolutely breathtaking.

A must do activity in Scotland. Do pay attention to the story they recite about the lochness. Scenic views. highly recommended.

Beautiful, relaxing, and engaging.

The beautiful lake and mountains, the captains commentary on what we were seeing, and being on the water and walking around the castle remains.

Great Inverness experience

Picked up efficiently at Inverness Bus station our driver Linda was an excellent narrator as well as driver as we were driven by coach to catch the boat , the boat cruise itself was magical helped by the excellent weather that day and Peter who gave an informative commentary during the cruise. Finally we reached the castle with stunning views and photo opportunities and you then have an hour to tour the castle and spend some time in the visitors centre and shop before being collected by Linda and taken on a quick coach tour before returning to Inverness.

Great guides, nice amount of time. Beautiful day to be on the water! Informative bus trip through Inverness, boat was spacious and clean.

Worth it

Well organized tour with a great driver (Linda). She was super knowledgable and her enthusiasm about the area was infectious. The boat ride was also fun with super informative information by the guide. The castle was nice and the movie in the visitors center puts the castle history in context. Thoroughly enjoyed my morning.

Friends cruise excursion to Loch Ness Urquhart castle

Linda was an outstanding driver and tour guide. The boat tour on Loch Ness was great make sure you have the Nessy hot chocolate with a bit of whiskey. The castle is great and the bus tour back is also wonderful. Make sure if your arriving by cruise ship In Invergordon you coordinate transportation to Inverness

Cool boat trip

Perfect half a day tour from Inverness, Linda, our guide was really nice and the bus was comfortable. We enjoyed the boat trip on the lake and took some amazing photos.

Great staff, great cruise!

Cruise was on time. Boat was clean and staff was friendly. One staff in particular went above and beyond to assist us in booking a tour at another venue. Thank you Michelle! You made our day!

Disappointed

We didn't get to go because we were told it picked up at the bus station close to the port. We found out at 8:40 AM it was the Inverness station not the Invergordon. Very disappointing since we specifically asked and told them what cruise ship we were on.

Lovely Afternoon on Loch Ness

The ferry ride to/on Loch Ness was lovely. Great way to see the gorgeous loch. The guide on the ferry was personable, knowledgeable and humorous, adding to the experience. Also enjoyed touring the castle on our own. The bus driver, a local, was very knowledgeable and provided history and lore which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Only issue was the microphone on the bus, which either wasn’t working or adjusted well, made it a bit hard to hear the driver unless you were close to the front.

Good day out

Coach trip and boat were great lady on the coach was full of knowledge as was boat bloke was very enjoyable and very full which proves it was a hit would highly recommend

Lockness trip

Linda our tour guide was fantastic so much information and went above and beyond what you would expect. We also had perfect weather which I would like to credit to Linda as well, but unfortunately can't.

Good tour to see Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle

Going to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle by tour bus was so easy. Catch the bus at the Inverness downtown bus station, drive to the boat and hop on, spend just enough time on the water to get a taste of the Loch and hop off at Urquhart Castle to tour the Visitors Center and Castle ruins. The afternoon was sunny and lovely and I enjoyed the experience.

Loud, obnoxious passengers, good tour

Nicely done. Would have been better to return on the boat. Also PLEASE TWLL THE TOURISTS on the bus to keep their conversations volume down so we can actually hear the guide.

Outstanding views

Last minute surprise trip .

Coach driver was so much fun and knowledgeable. Boat staff were fun and nice. To be honest we had no idea what to expect from this experience as it was booked very last minute but it was perfect. Not too long but had the chance to view such beautiful scenery.

A brilliant morning out

Very friendly & informative coach driver, who was welcoming from the start. We really enjoyed the commentary on the coach and on the boat and feel this definitely enhanced the experience. Very friendly team on the boat and a brilliant introduction to Scotland, and the area, for us. We were incredibly lucky with the weather too!

Great trip

Engaging and fun

Such a fabulous trip, the driver Kieron was so engaging with his local history talks as we drove around and well as the jokes with passengers. The boat on the loch was really comfortable and safe, again with a great your guide and wonderful crew. The castle was just as good as I hoped it would be - highlight of our holiday!

Perfect balance

This tour was beautiful and a perfect mix of cruise time and the hour at the castle! I loved the history commentary on the boat. I was a bit worried this trip may focus on the legend of Nessie and be corny, but they spoke about the legend enough to pay due and pay along, but focused on the area history and the nature, which was great! I was also worried the hour at the castle would be too long, but it flew by! Really wonderful experience, can't recommend high enough. We did the clansman harbor boat-Castle- boat tour.

Convenient transportation

This was a convenient way to get from Inverness to Loch Ness. The bus driver was great and gave some good commentary during the drive. I do wish there had been more information about the myths and stories about the Loch Ness monster, but it was an overall great tour. They gave plenty of time to explore the castle, and, it was a nice ride on the lake.

Relaxing Cruise on Loch Ness

Really enjoyed this relaxing cruise on Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle. I'm so glad we chose to add the Castle in, it is worth it. The Staff are professional and friendly. The cruise was bang on time and safety excellent. Would highly recommend.

Lovely way to see Loch Ness

Beautiful smooth cruise on the lovely Loch Ness. Ian was a very fun, informative tour guide and I warmed up with a delicious highland hot chocolate ☕️

Great morning spent enjoying Loch Ness and surrounding area

Highly recommend the bus and boat option. Bus driver took us on a lovely tour before and after the boat trip. Bit wet at first but once into Loch Ness it cleared up. John the on board guide was knowledgeable but also gave time to you. Walk round Urquhart Castle topped it off. Done the various elements before but not together and Highly recommend
