Small-Group Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour from Sydney

Awesome!

An enriching experience on wine tasting. The spirits tasting was was the best ending to this tour! Wish the group had agreed to the chocolate factory stop which was suggested by Peter our tour guide; would have been a marvelous finale to this exclusive tour! Very gracious of Peter to stop by Kangaroo hideouts in the wilds of Hunter Valley for us to take pictures too.. Peter was informative and most of all, clear in his explanations as he was driving us through.

Great wine tour with great guides

5 stars across the board. The driver Peter was fabulous. The tour was great. It covered so many bases that there was nothing lacking. I loved loved ones. I have been on many wine tours. This one ranks at the top of many. The Hunter Valley was beautiful with the rolling hills and all the grape vines. We even saw kangaroos. Peter did a great job, and so did all the wineries. Jane at irongate Estates was so informative.

Excellent in every way

It was a lovely small group of 21 passengers and our driver Peter was just great; he was very informative & cheerful. Plenty of comfort stops along the way! I really enjoyed the Iron Gate Estate, where our tour guide explained how the wine was made & showed us the machinery used. It was also my favourite wine. The girl at Pokolbin Estate was a real comedian, I would pay to go to her comedy show, if she had one. The last wine we tasted there was like nothing I have ever experienced before 18% alcohol🤪 I actually chose this tour for the gin/vodka tasting but I’m not a fan without tonic/soda water🤣. We were a bit ahead of schedule so Peter asked if we would like to stop at the choc/fudge shop which was a big YES. Lunch was great too. I thoroughly recommend this tour.🥰

Fabulous Tour

Great day out. Could not fault anything on this tour. We had a beautiful day. Wine tastings generous and informative. Lunch was not gourmet but enjoyed by all. Driver very helpful with any purchases made.

Winery Visit from the City

The 2 wineries we visited before lunch were excellent as was the distillery (after lunch which was at 4 Pines Brewery and was delicious). I only rated this as a 4 however as the bus was very cramped/uncomfortable for such a long trip. Also, there was a wine/cheese tasting directly following the lunch at the brewery so no one was hungry at that point. It would have been nice to spend extra time at the first 2 wineries to walk around and get photos but it was very rushed.

Wine Tasting and Lunch

Mike was great coordinating our day. He ensured lunch was ordered and prepared for our arrival after the first 2 wine tastings. The pace was excellent with to enjoy each tasting and not feel rushed. Be prepared for a long day. With travel from Sydney and back the day was 11 hours, but the experience was well worth the time.

Good value & a must do from Sydney if you like wine!

Our guide Mark was very friendly & professional. He kept our group on track. Mandy at Iron Gate was an amazing guide & Hannah at Pokolbin was so knowledgeable & funny. Lunch was great, didn’t need the last bit of the tour at the distillery, not my thing. Great value for money & a good way to see the valley.

Wide variety of wine!

Got to taste a wide variety of wine and our tour guide Michael was great at adapting to when we were slow and when we were quick at each venue. Lunch included vegan options. A boisterous group on the bus was a bit much so early in the morning but made for a fun day. There are USB chargers next to the seats so you can charge up while on the bus. A hat and water bottle are a must.

Average experience

The day was off to a poor start as the number of people on the tour was 20 instead of the no more than 14 promised. The seats and leg space of the vehicle that took us out to the Hunter Valley was similar to the space in a budget airline and was not the luxury vehicle that was promoted by the description. For us, the winery picks were not what we were hoping for but the wines were all of good quality. The hosts at all of the wineries were friendly and knowledgeable. The wineries that had food pairings (either cheese or chocolate) were very good. Unfortunately, the wine and cheese pairing was directly after lunch when we were full. It would have been nice to have that pairing before lunch because we were offered some of the wines at lunch (which was at the same venue).

Fun was had by all!

We had a lovely day (my husband and I and 2 other couples) on our full day Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tour. It was exactly what we were looking for. Chris, our driver/ guide, was incredibly professional and personable. He took great care of us, I felt very safe, and he ensured all went smoothly and that we kept on schedule. Great tasting opportunities and a really yummy lunch! Thanks so much!

Bottling up a great time

We thoroughly enjoyed our small group trip for wine tasting in the Hunter Valley. Michael, the tour guide was not only knowledgeable but so kind and extremely helpful. Driving up to the Hunter Valley the scenery was lovely and the four spots we stopped each had a slightly different flavour in presentation and wines. The distillery was a nice change and allowed each of us 6 flavors of our choice. Lunch was good. Give this tour a try.well worth it!

Colourful Trips Wine Tour

Overall, the wine tasting trip was very good and good value for money. We went to 3 wineries and one gin/vodka tasting venue. We also had a cheese and chocolate pairing which was great. All of the tour guides were very knowledgeable and good at their jobs. We learnt a lot and had some great wine. We also bought a very nice wine for only $30. The bus there was comfortable and the driver gave us some fun facts about Sydney/Hunter Valley on route. The only downside for us personally, was the lunch. You did get a glass of wine or beer with it but the food was insanely bog standard. I could make much better at home. But we mainly went for the wine, so didn't really fault our experience much. Would still definitely recommend

Excellent Hunter Valley Tour

This was a fantastic tour and Ronnie our guide was great! He provided a great tour and even went to spot where there are a lot kangaroos, which was amazing! Definitely recommend this tour.

Worth every penny!

Was an amazing experience. I loved how each place we went to offered something different. The wines were all incredible and the Hunter Valley scenery was amazing too! We even saw some kangaroos! Highly recommend!

Excellent day out, highly recommend

My sister and I joined this group tour Feb 2024 and had an incredible time. We were spoiled with delicious wines and food throughout the day, and we were even lucky enough to see wild kangaroos! Our driver was very courteous and communicated everything clearly. The group size was perfect, not too small, not too big.

Fantastic Driver/Guide

From the moment he found us since we missed the meeting point ( my fault) to our departure at the end of the wine tour, our driver/guide was the epitome of professionalism and helpful guide. He kept us informed of everything that was happening, ensured we were all taken care of at each stop, and kept us on schedule throughout the day. He made our day enjoyable and educational.

Great Day Out

Great trip, 13 of us and Tom the driver. Incident on Harbour Bridge delayed us a little but Tom handled this very well and bus really comfortable. Visited some great Wineries in a leisurely way, no one was rushed. Had superb lunch with cheese and more wine to follow. A great day and very good value for money. Thank you Tom 👍

Great Informative Wine Tasting at Irongate Wineries and good overall wine tours

We enjoyed the Iron gate distillery wines and all the information provided from the whole process of wine production to how to taste the wine and other relevant facts. The cheese pairing at Hermitage was really good as well as the lunch. Overall a very good tour

Hunter Valley tour

What a fabulous all day tour! Our driver/guide, Branko, was 5 star. The day is broken up with rest stops and it’s an easy pace stopping at 2 wineries, then lunch and final wine tasting followed by the distillery nice small group of about 15, Branko was friendly, informative, played great music and a careful, safe driver. I was worried about the long day but it was great. Nice way to enjoy the countryside and learn about the local wines. Your company quickly responded to my questions and the meeting place was easy to find and very timely! Thank you. I highly recommend this experience!

Fair wine tasting

This wine tasting was a little underwhelming as compared to New Zealand and US wine tours that I have been on

We are a Brazilian couple and we’ve had an amazing experience. The tour was really cool full of information and a nice amount of tastings. The van got on time, the driver was really nice and helpful. Recommended.

Party bus to the Hunter valley for all

A great time was had by all on the tour, lots of singing & laughs, not rushed all venues we visited were uniqu & had a diferent experience, really appreciated our driver Tom he was so funny & friendly & even sang along on the long trip back to Sydney through the traffic Age ranged from 18 to 65 & from Australia, new Zealand & england the 14 of us got on so well. Best tour a have enjoyed so much

Irish Mammy and daughter wine tasting

Fabulous range of wines 🍷 and wineries. Excellent guide/bus driver who was very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. The small mixed group bonded very well over the 🍷 🍷

We loved it!

We are happy that 3 whineries had different features. We got to taste 5 different wine/alcohol in every whinery. The lunch was great thought there was only 1 options for vegetarian.

Long day but good experience.

The Iron Gate winery and the cheese and distillery tasting were great. We didn’t like the chocolate tasting as much because it seemed like the winery guide was more interested in selling than guiding. Our driver Tom was great and went the extra mile.

We had a great & memorable day! Tom was fantastic driver/guide very informative The wineries/distilleries we visited were 5* lunch was great we were provided varied choice of selection and Tom even went above/beyond to find us a gang/herd of kangaroos to see to end of our day! Would highly recommend taking this wonderful experience it is great value trip

Good value for money

5 stars for wineries pick up and interesting presentation/information provided, that comes with different types of wine paired with chocolate and cheese - an unique experience. Tasty lunch at 4 Pines helped to survive long day. 5 stars also for Tom - our driver who provide not only safe transport but a lots of interesting information shared in a funny way!

Hunter Valley wine tour

Nice tour of the Hunter Valley wine region. The wines and spirits tastings were ok. Our wine tastings with Terry and Eliza were the best. A long day and may be disappointed if you’ve been on other wine tours in CA or Europe.

A lovely experience of Hunter Valley

The tour was very good, the wineries chosen were fab, each gave an informative experience… the lunch was delicious. Our driver was a real character, which made the day a little more special, very pleasant & patiently waited for me when G.Maps confused me with my pick up point, a very helpful guy. Would recommend.

Hunter valley Wine country

Great guide with Tom who worked hard at providing a informative tour with varied experiences. Wine stops were educational. The distilled spirits demonstrated the various flavours achievable. The pairings with cheese and chocolate showed how the wine changed with the different features of the wines and cheeses

Wine not go on this lovely wine tasting toùr to the Hunter Valley !

Our driver and tour guide Tom was excellent and relayed his knowledge on the way from Sydney and during the drive in a very clear and friendly way. We visited 3 different winneries and I loved the tasting menu on the first two stops with a vodka / gin tasting menu in the afternoon to finish off a beautiful day.Tom really took care of the group and ensured the safety of everyone that was in the group did not venture too near the wild bush kangaroos that we observed from a distance. A happy and appreciation day of wine all round !

Not worthy

1. There's only wine tasting. You actually don't see anything special from the winery. 2. You can find an obvious gap between the vehicle in the tour and other tours. The trip is very bumpy with super warm temperature in the van. The driver tried to make it better but was in vain 3. Besides wine tasting itself there's almost nothing "guided".

A Day at The Vineyards

I enjoyed the tour and met nice people. I was happy to have Peter for the second time as my guide. I knew that I was in good hands. Thank you Peter!

Jade at Irongate

The highlight of our trip was Jade at Irongate!! She was the beyond excellent. Everything else was substandard.

비추. 배불러 죽어요. u would love it if u are foodie type of traveler and are curious about the history of the region and stuff. i didnt enjoy all the journey but the food and wine were great. at least the driver/host tried.

A Boutique Wine Regions With Plenty of Variation

My friend and I had a wonderful trip to the Hunter Valley Wine Region where we sampled 16 wines in total and 6 spirits. The transport was very modern and comfortable and Tom our tour guide was very accommodating and entertaining. The first cellar door visit included a tour of the vineyard and explanation of the wine process, as well as the tasting. This was naturally the best of the 3 cellar door visits. The second cellar door was a wine tasting with chocolate pairings which is very rare in the region. Our last wine visit was at the same location as lunch, this is not a vineyard but you do taste a variety of wines from the local region with cheese combinations. Lunch was satisfactory, big portions and a nice range of drink options to choose from. Overall would highly recommend the trip.

A fantastic day out

We had an amazing time on this trip, lots of wine tasting and a great lunch. Our first stop was Iron Gate Estate and we were looked after by Jade, who I have to say was so easy to listen to and really knows her stuff. After that we had wine and chocolate tasting and then on to another winery where we had a tasty lunch followed by wine and cheese tasting. The last stop was a distillery where we were treated to gin and vodka tasting. Our driver/guide whose name was Tom was really great.

Great general experience, a lot of tastings

Tom is a very nice tour guide. First winery was the best and we got clear informations on the wine making process. At the wine and chocolate experience , I would have like the wines to be introduced my someone. Liquors at the distillery were interesting but not much informations were giving.

Great driver/guide and best wine at Iron Gate

Had a great trip with my daughter. Tom was a fantastic driver/guide who gave us interesting information throughout the trip and also checked that we were happy at each destination. He went above and beyond in managing to get us some wine from our favourite winery (Iron Gate) that we had neglected to buy at the time!

All the stops were great, however, the second stop the host could be a little more engaging and talk about the wine....show some passion for the wine.

Excellent tour , great value

The quality of the tour was tops. The scenery apart from the wine tasting and lunch was all very pleasant . Couldn't fault the presentations at the venues which were all quite diverse.

Hidden Gems in the Hunter

Fantastic day. Very different from a normal winery tour. The pairing of wine and chocolate and also wine and cheese and a very informative talk & tasting from Jade at Iron Gate Estate, made for a lovely and different day out. The added addition of visiting Hunter Distillery for Gin, Vodka & Schnapps tasting was an added highlight. Our driver Tom did a fantastic job and looked after us very well throughout the day. Throughly enjoyable day.

Great trip for drinkers and non-drinkers

Some in our party of 10 do not typically drink (but the rest do!) Yet all of us enjoyed each of the four tasting stops. Lunch was filling and delicious. Tours were informative and not rushed. Gave us a new appreciation for Australian wine.

We had the most amazing day - Mark was exceptional and made the day very memorable and special. We had such a great array of people and cultures on board and it was very humorous at times. It was certainly great travelling with a smaller group and everyone had a great day. The tour was very constructed and had great variety. It was a fun day out, great weather, great company, great wine and food - would highly recommend if you want to experience the highlights of the Hunter Valley. Great recommendation and would certainly go on another trip with this company. Keep up the great work.
