Tassie Tours Tasmania a first-rate experience!!

A friend had recommended Tassie Tours Tasmania for our first trip to Hobart! We pre booked the Port Arthur Day Trip which was highly recommended. We had the most brilliant tour guide in Andrew! He is a local born and bred, so his knowledge of all things Tassie was fantastic. He is also a former Chef and so for me who loves anything foodie, again he had a wonderful knowledge of the food and produce of the area and great places to eat in and around Hobart. Port Arthur is an incredible place to visit for many reasons. Acknowledging the banishment and decimation of the Aboriginal people is confronting. It is hard to imagine the harsh life that many would have experienced in such a beautiful setting. The memorial to the Port Arthur Victims is beautifully done. Such an horrific tragedy. Andrew you are a natural communicator! You have a genuine, articulate and easy style of delivery. The perfect person as your guide/commentator when you are together for 7hrs!! As you know we booked a Tassie Tour for the next day to Bruny Island because Paul and I knew you were doing that as well!! Thank you for a brilliant day. Great value and a great tour!

A fantastic tour! Lots of pick ups from around Hobart and the driver Bunzy was a wealth of knowledge! Fun stops and a good amount of time at the Port Arthur Historic Site to explore.

Interesting Port Arthur

We had a wonderful day visiting Port Arthur and surrounding area. So beautiful and interesting. Peter was a great guide, so knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. He stopped to show us a group of fur seals on the way back. Added bonus! I would highly recommend the tour.

Fantastic Tour

Fantastic Tour with Andrew and saw so many magnificent views, loved the lavender cheese cake at the lavender farm and of course really enjoyed Port Arthur.

Terrific Tasman

A terrific time to Port Arthur and the Tasman National Park thanks to this lovely tour! Jodie was an amazing guide , friendly, well versed in the knowledge of the landscape and punctual, so much so we were back in Hobart way earlier than expected. If you do this trip, do not turn the guides offer down to see the breathtaking Remarkables!

Unesco world heritage site and ferry ride. Nice experience.

We booked a day trip with Tassie Tours and our guide was the lovely Jordi. She explained a lot about convicts life on the way to Port Island. Port Island has beautiful old buildings and sad stories behind many of them. The site is well maintained with colorful trees and flowers. We thoroughly enjoyed the ferry ride which was included in the entrance fee. After our site visit Jordi took us to the remarkable cave. I love the taste of Lavender lush milk chocolate bought from Port Arthur Lavender cafe. I recommend Tassie Tours for a hassle free touring experience in Hobart. We wouldn't know much details if we did our own trip.

Easy Port Arthur visit

This was a seamless way to visit beautiful Port Arthur.Driver Steve was excellent and efficient,the coach comfortable and the venue amazing!A couple of interesting stops particularly the lavendar farm ,broke the trip and all in all ,it was a great way to go!

Great trip to Port Arthur

I booked this trip as I was travelling solo and thought it would be a great way to see Port Arthur. It was a great day trip! Our driver was called Mark and he made the trip that bit better. He was very welcoming and knowledgeable, not only about Tasmania and Port Arthur but he knew a lot about the country I was from and the countries the other guests were from too! Mark encouraged conversion throughout the drive which was nice, especially being a solo traveler, because of this, I got to know a few people and we went around the Port Arthur site together. Mark arrived well on time. Port Arthur itself was great to see and learn about the history. We also stopped at the remarkable caves, lavender farm and chocolate shop which was nice to see too. Great trip and would definitely recommend, especially if travelling solo. Please pass the comments on to Mark as he deserves to be acknowledged for keeping us all entertained and informed.

Great day exploring Port Arthur and surrounds..

The tour to Port Arthur was enjoyable due to the landscapes travelled through and the helpful guide, Jodie. Port Arthur was a step back in time and interesting to imagine the lives of both the convicts and soldiers who resided here at the time. Options were provided to either visit nearby caves or spend additional time exploring Port Arthur, which is what we opted for. An amazing piece of history preserved.

This is a very special piece of history and the site shows just how awful we were in those days.

The highlight of our journey was the experience of exploring Port Arthur on a beautiful day. It’s a big site and the harbour cruise allowed us to appreciate the scale of this vast experiment on criminals shipped from the UK. Our driver, Steve, was great and included other visits although perhaps the chocolate factory one could have been left out as we then visited the main facility just ten minutes down the road.

100% recommend

Alex is really knowledgeable about the landscapes, curiosities and history of Tasmania and especially Richmond and Wineglass bay. He also knows the best spots for unique stops!

The tour arrangements was superb especially our tour guide Jodi. She is very professional, capable, friendly and caring.

Nice trip to Port Arthur

I liked this tour very much. We had enough time to explore Port Arthur. We saw few more places on the way to the port and back. And again - our guide, Andrew - was charming with his sense of humour and information about daily life on the island. Highly recommended!

Major disappointment

Unfortunately we did not get to Port Arthur as our guide never picked us up at our hotel. We waited from 9.15 to 10.30 in the lobby or out on the street. While many people were being picked up we never saw a van identifying our tour nor did anyone page us. Highly disappointing and upsetting and I will never book thru a third party operator (located in Delaware) again but only with the tour company itself. My cell number did not work on Australia which was why I communicated by email with the company. They apparently didn’t have the sense to use email but stuck to a cellphone which didn’t work for them. Not much in the way of initiative or critical thinking skills there

Fantastic tour and driver

Fantastic and lots of laughs with driver Mark who was the best driver on a shuttle bus I have ever come across .Made shuttle trip feel quick and fast lots of information and trivia answered everything with To Be Continued ,we laughed , it was raining when we got back and dropped us closer to the ship .Thank you Mark and Tassie Tours .Definitely Book with Tassie Tours .Regards Annamaria and Emilia .

Very chill tour with the perfect balance of time at Port Arthur and other interesting stops. Don't miss out on the Remarkable Caves. Absolutely stunning views from the top and if you can manage over 100 stairs, the walk to the caves is very rewarding. Our guide Andrew led us on a very relaxed and enjoyable day out.

Such a great tour! Highly recommend this company

My partner and I did the Port Arthur Shuttle tour with tour guide Andrew. We loved every second of it! The tour was packed with many different major tourist locations that are a must go to like… Eaglehawk Neck lookout, the chocolate foundry, lavender farm, port Arthur and there was an option of going to see the Remarkable Cave which was absolutely beautiful! Our tour guide Andrew was great! He had a fun personality that everyone on the tour enjoyed and immense knowledge of the local areas! I would defiantly recommend going on this tour!

Recommendable service

Joey was our driver. Very friendly and knowledgeable, spoke clearly and entertaining. Stops at the lavender farm and chocolate factory was good. Maybe a consideration is going via Richmond? Enjoyable trip.

A wonderful tour. My daughter and I were doing the Three Capes Hike and used Tassie Tours to get to and from Port Arthur. Steve (on the way there) and Rob (on the way home) were so helpful, informative and kind. We had lots of luggage and they were so good about helping us. Wonderful day out

Had a lovely day visiting Port Arthur today. Dave was a great tour guide, sharing lots of local knowledge on the bus. The chocolate at the Chocolate foundry was delicious and the lavender farm was a lovely stop. Port Arthur itself was fascinating. The weather was wonderful and I used up all of the 4 hours looking around the various buildings. I really enjoyed the harbour cruise too. Would definitely recommend Port Arthur and Tassie Tours!

Great way to do Port Arthur again

Picked up at our hotel by our tour guide Alex who was 7th generation Tasmanian. He knew his stuff, very enjoyable at the Port Arthur lavender farm, Tasman chocolate place, able to spend a 2nd visit to Port Arthur as not enough last time we were in Tassie. And then we chose for the extra tour to go to the Remarkable Cave. Thoroughly enjoyed our day, thanks Alex.

Wonderful Day out from Hobart seeing the surrounding countryside and coast. Andrew was an excellent and knowledgeable guide who gave us lots of relevant information. Port Arthur is definitely worth a visit.

Mark is a legend

Mark, our driver, was excellent. He learned all our names, has a great sense of humour and made the whole driving experience a lot of fun. And his driving was good - safe and experienced. We’d recommend him to everyone!

Overall it's a worthy tour

The tour was well organised, the pick up was on time. however the end day drop off was 30 minutes later due to an airport drop off for a group of guests. This was not informed in advance. We also didn't have time for Levander farm - the driver offered 15 minutes visit but the time would be deducted from the 4 hours Port Arthur visit time, no one took the offer. The driver, Martin, was friendly and courtesy, he provided some history information and stories about Port Arthur. However, most of the times he was non-stopping loudly chatting and joking to guests around him about sports and family lives etc, which can be annoying for other guests.

Excellent tour and day at Port Arthur

Enjoyable trip over to Port Arthur with nice stops along the way. Thoroughly enjoyed the time we had at Port Arthur- fascinating history and had plenty of time to go out on the water as well as go on one of the guided tours and explore on our own. Our driver was knowledgeable and shared various stories. It was great to have several pickup spots and the one we chose was within a few minutes from where our cruise ship docked.

Great drive to Port Arthur! Bunzy is an awesome tourguide and really knows how to tell stories about history in an entertaining way. We had a few stops along the way at a few lookout spots, a bakery, a lavender farm and a chocolate shop. Would recommend!

Good trip

Great trip viewing the sites on the way, visiting the chocolate factory and lavender farm. Port Arthur was a revelation and the cruise around the area was very interesting.

Port Arthur is Gorgeous

Despite the sad original use of Port Arthur as a convict settlement, it is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I have visited. I loved the day there - in fact, I could have spent a few more hours there, especially when you factor in a lunch break (which was tasty in the on-site cafe/ restaurant). The waters are a beautiful blue, the trees are really relaxing to look at and there is a really serene and calm feeling there that I wasn’t expecting. There is so much to explore at the historic site - as well as The Penitentiary, there’s the old cottages that have been restored to show what life was like for staff and locals, the asylum, the hospital, the churches… and a harbour tour gives you a great sense of the little islands off the port - one a graveyard for convicts and ‘free people’ and one the site of the boys prison. This day trip also includes a lovely stop at a lavender farm, a great lookout opportunity over Pirates Bay and a chocolate shop stop. It was the most enjoyable day I had during my five days in Hobart and would highly recommend it.

Amazing Day Trip to Port Arthur

A great day trip down to Port Arthur! Our tour guide, Bunzy was amazing - he took us to some amazing picturesque viewpoints along the trip to the historic site and it was beautiful! He also took us to Tasman's Arch which was a little gem on its own. Since it was a small group, everyone got to know each other and it was like a small trip. The Port Arthur site has plenty to see and we had three hours to wonder around and see everything. We also made some retail stops for Tasmanian chocolate and a lavender farm which all added to the charm of the day. Great day trip for sure!
