Port Arthur is a highlight

Our driver Ian was brilliant. He was very knowledgeable and answered every question thrown his way. The Unzoo was a great way to see some Tassie Devils up close and learn more about the conservation efforts to keep them from going extinct. Port Arthur was much bigger than I expected, we ran out of time to see everything and it was a bit rushed.. I think it would have been nicer to have the extra time at Port Arthur and skip the town of Richmond as there was nothing open by the time we got there.

Was an excellent experience. Our guide was very enjoyable and gave us a lot of information. It´s an amazing way to know this beautiful places.

We have a good day visiting all places and the timing was good to enjoy and avoid rush. The Unzoo is definitely something that worth to visit.

Great day tour

Enjoyed the clifftop walk to Tasman Arch, lots of beautiful photos to take. Unzoo is small, worth going to the keeper talk’s especially Tasmanian Devil & Bird feeding. Rained at Port Arthur but strolled around the well looked after grounds. Quick stop in Richmond, enough to get a drink & snack.

Great Tour if eateries are kept to one

The Port Arthur visit was great. The guide had really given a vivid idea of the conditions in those days..about the prison and other activities..in those days...but there was no time to go around the Tassie Devil facility except to seeing being fed..but the guide had a lot of time to take the group to eateries etc..

Wildlife at Unzoo a delight

Our driver and tour guide was Ian, he was very knowledgeable of the places we went to specially it's history, he interacted with the group some asked interesting questions and I'm sure everyone learned from each other. My favorite place was Unzoo I got the chance to see the tassie devil and interact with wild parrots at feeding time. I got one literally feeding off my hand.

Tasman Peninsula excursion

Wonderful tour of Tasman peninsula. Great views. Enjoyed the UnZoo and Port Arthur grounds. As well as the brief stop in Richmond.

TASSIE DEVILS!

In short: TASSIE DEVILS!!! In long: This was an educational, scenic, and overall fun tour that's worth exploring. Our tour guide, Nick, was really knowledgeable and friendly, and he added a lot of color to the scenery and history of Tasmania. The start of the tour included a number of scenic stop-offs and a walk through the Tasman Peninsula, including a number of stunning vistas of the seaside cliffs that made for absolutely wonderful pictures. There were also many horrifying and amusing stories from the history of the Peninsula, including various tales of convict escape attempts, piracy, and other trivia that Nick shared with us throughout the tour. After that was the unequivocal highlight of the tour: The Unzoo! We watched an Unzoo guide conduct a feeding with one of the Tassie Devils, which was a tad bit gruesome (think Nibbler from Futurama) but also included a number of facts and information about the devils which made the experience educational and interesting. Afterwards, the Unzoo guide held a local bird exhibition which saw our tour group get up close and personal with a number of Tasmania's feathered denizens, and then we were able to wander the grounds and see more devils, pademelons, kangaroos, and wallabies in their natural habitat. After the Unzoo, we spent a good amount of time in Port Arthur. While I found Port Arthur to be extremely fascinating (and I even found an unexpected family connection), the subject matter covered in Port Arthur, both historic and more recent, upset some of the other members of our group. Nick did a great job of prefacing this part of the tour as being an uncomfortable and important part of Australia's history, but I also understand how some people might not want to spend part of their vacation touring around a very well-preserved prison complex with deep educational dives provided throughout. Finally, we stopped off in Richmond for a quick breather before heading back to Hobart. We saw Richmond on an earlier tour and enjoyed it, but just be aware that this is the end of the tour and some of the shops close earlier in the day if you wanted to spend time perusing the boutiques and art galleries. Happily, the bar and bakeshop were both still open and we were able to enjoy ourselves. In summary, this tour was an excellent blend of scenic views, education, and, most importantly, TASSIE DEVILS!!! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an up close experience with those lovably terrifying creatures. If you want something that focuses on the Tasman Peninsula or Port Arthur, this is still a very good tour for both, but for us, the Unzoo was one of the highlights of our entire trip.

Amazing and knowledgeable guided tour

The tour was amazing! Our guide Ian was deeply knowledgeable and funny, and the stop offs at port Arthur and seeing the devils were fantastic!

Great tour

Had a great time, our guide was great with lots of knowledge and information. Kept us on time and moving. Was definitely a fast paced tour, which I liked, but may not be for everyone.

Underwhelmed

The tour itself was adequate. the Driver/guide very knowledgeable. However 1) the bus was inadequate especially when you are in the last row. The seats were too low, seatbelts did not work, unable to hear and see. 2) on a rainy day if you have raincoats for some need to have for all 3) umbrellas would have been great and 4) no water offered during entire day

Great value, well run tour.

This was a fantastic day. We feel we really did get to see some of the highlights of Tassie on our very quick trip. The tour and locations were 5 star. Our guide Heather was great, she was very experienced and ran the tour with precision. The tour bus was fine but definitely not 5 star luxury. This was a wonderful day out.

Well paced and good guide

Well paced tour with just enough time at each place. Our tour driver was humorous and engaging with about 13 people on the bus.

Highlight trip of my time in Hobart

This day trip was the highlight of my time in Hobart. The bus was very comfortable, and the driver/tour guide Trevor was so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. There was plenty of time to spend at all the stops along the way to Port Arthur and back again to Hobart. We were able to pet and feed kangaroos, amazing! The Unzoo was wonderful, and seeing a Tasmanian devil was so interesting. I definitely recommend taking this trip. The sights in the Devil's Kitchen was spectacular as well.

The whole tour was magnificent. Sceneries from Port Arthur and ocean cliffs as well as Tasmanian Devil.

Excellent day trip!

My tour guide Trevor was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and great sense of humour. We had plenty of time to spend at each stop, and we never felt rushed. The Unzoo was amazing, feeding and petting kangaroos, seeing a devil and the colourful birds were beautiful. Port Arthur was excellent as well, learning about the very difficult life of inmates in the 1800's; shocking. I highly recommend this day trip!

A full day of worthwhile experiences when visiting Tasmania

With only 2 days in Hobart, this was an excellent way to see alot in a short time! We loved the up close experiences and feeding displays at the Unzoo, appreciated time for a short walk and the fabulous cliff/sea views, enjoyed exploring Port Arthur and hearing about the histoary. Nice to see Richmond for a short stop on the way back.

Rushed but worth it fir port Arthur and Tasman unzoo.

The drive, waterfall bay/Tasman national park and port arthur were amazing. Not enough time at port Arthur. The cruise in port Arthur was a waste of time-I would have rathered spend more time visiting the buildings. Richmond was a big disappointment—the agenda calls for an hour but our guide Dave rushed to get here and said we had 30 minutes but he parked by some insignificant bakery and lolly shop not in the historic area of town failing to let us know that a block or 2 away was where all the historic buildings were so we didn’t see much at all till we were driving by in the bus therefore we really saw nothing. I was very excited about visiting this town but we saw nothing. not happy about this final leg of the tour. Felt very rushed.

Terrific Small Group Tour of Tasman National Park and Port Arthur

We had a terrific day with Tours Tasmania. Our guide, Ian, kept a perfect pace with the commentary and interesting, relevant information. We had a great group for this active tour. At the Tasman National Park, Ian took us to a couple of viewing sites, and we then had about 45 minutes to walk independently down a well-marked, easy trail, with several great overlooks along the way. I even saw a wallaby in the forest on my own! We met up with Ian for the last couple of views. Next stop was the Unzoo. We opted to skip this outting, since we had seen the Tasmanian Devils in a couple of other venues--but would definitely recommend it if you have not. That allowed us and 2 of the other couples an extra hour at Port Arthur. We made good use of our 4 hours there, viewing nearly all the buildings and a couple of talks, plus the included harbor tour. The ride back into Hobart was also great--a little less commentary since Ian knew we were a little tired from the busy day, but a couple more great stories to close out the tour. Everything was on time and as described. A very enjoyable day.

Port Arthur

Great day tour. Trevor our tour guide was amazing. Humorous and informative . Loved seeing the Tasmanian Devils at animal park. Port Arthur was great. So much history.

Brilliant trip

Loved it all. Very varied day, guide was very knowledgeable with lots of interesting facts. I had broken my wrist the previous day.and had a very bruised face but despite my injuries I thoroughly enjoyed my trip (no pun intended).

Excellent value for money

Our tour guide was David who was very knowledgeable about local and past history. He kept us entertained and amused with various stories whilst en route. An early start [7.30] and an email day prior as a reminder. The tour was jammed packed. The walk with spectacular views. The Unzoo was a big surprise with only the Tassie devils locked up and a very informative talk with staff there. Off to Port Arthur and an island cruise. Back to Hobart via Richmond historic town. Arrived back around 5.30. The tour was very well conducted and exceptionally enjoyable and great value for money. These two oldies in their 70’s had a wonderful day and slept very well that night.

An excellent experience at a variety of sites!

Very Interesting tour to a variety of locations in SE Tasmania. Fantastic visit to Tasman National Park, the Port Arthur Historic Site, Tasmanian Devil Unzoo and the historic town of Richmond. Our guide Dave was incredibly knowledgable and interesting. The tour included a really nice mix of guided activities and options for spending time at each site on our own. This allowed for people to both get the information and do things that best fit with their individual interests and energy levels. Very enjoyable day!

Great tour

Definitely recommend! Tour was a really good option to cover a lot quickly. Ian, the tour guide was awesome, entertaining and very knowledgeable. Especially enjoyed the Unzoo to see the Tassie devils, birds and kangaroos.

Full day but so worth it

An action packed day full of beautiful beaches, sweeping cliffs, unzoo visit, then Port Arthur. A lot of driving but plenty of stop offs and some lovely bush walks that were very easy to do. The unzoo was awesome and we got to see some healthy and lively tassie devils and hands on with kangaroos and native birds. Port Author has beautiful surroundings but also well done for reflection and education on the atrocities that occurred in history. Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable and easy going making a very enjoyable day out.

The quisential Tassie experience you gotta have!

The walk and seascape views were beautiful. Getting up close to the deceptively sweet looking Tasmanian Devils and learning just how powerful they are was amazing. Very interesting and informative tour of the Unzoo. Walking around experiencing the history Port Arthur was special. Our tour guide was great.

Great Tour worth the money spent

We had an amazing time through out the tour. Our tour guide was extremely helpful and informative. It was an amazing tour and I highly recommend this tour with this company. They go out of their way to ensure you have a good and comfortable time and have a wealth of information to share with you about Hobart.

Great paced tour

Great tour. Perfect timing at each stop. Ben read the group well and kept small talk to a minimum. The town of Richmond at the end was a surprising highlight. We had a great day!

Excellent Day Tour

Excellent day tour from Hobart. Lots of varied activities - special lookout points, walking along the coast in Tasman National Park, visiting the awesome UnZoo, touring Port Arthur with its interactive exhibits and gorgeous grounds. Nick was a wonderful guide who managed logistics extremely well and provided very interesting, entertaining and relevant commentary.

Fun and active day

Excellent tour where you see a lot but it still doesn't feel rushed. The guide Ben is very knowledgeable and shares interesting background information during the bus ride.

Educational & entertaining

A good mix of activities. Favorite part was 30 minute cliff top walk. Very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Wish he had a microphone on bus tho cause it was hard to hear commentary with the road noise.

Best day trip out there

Sensationa and gets all the big item ticked off the list in one day. Sanctuary is wonderful. And the picture pops the whole day we’re excellent. Great tour guide too

Disappointing tour experience

Couldn't actually experience this trip as our Jetstar flight was cancelled and we couldn't get there in time.

Devil feeding, kangaroo petting, port Arthur and more

This was a nice tour but you'll be on the bus a long time. With our guide even longer as he drove very slow. He also talked so much it was almost too much. That's just a personal preference. The sites were awesome. The cliffs we saw and the 40 min hike was incredible. The unzoo was small but cute and you got to see the devil feeding. And of course port Arthur. They really should add some food options as opposed to just stopping at one random place to get food.

And yumm

Enjoyed the experience of the tour, but being rude not the bus ride. If the driver said….and yumm so many times drove me crazy.

Tassie devil Port Arthur tour

Seeing Tassie Devils and the site of Port Arthur Prison. The guide was very informative and really helpful.

Port Arthur and the Tassie Devils

Myself and my two adult nieces joined this tour with Clinton as our guide. What a fantastic day we had! Top marks to Clinton he was so friendly, helpful and told great stories. Loved the visit to the National Park, the boat trip was the highlight of Port Arthur, and the visit to the Devils Unzoo was the highlight of my day. Thanks for looking after us so well.
