Highly recommended

A very enjoyable trip. A bus ride to the top, and then a walk down the mountain. The cloud was low when we got to the top, but it cleared and the views were spectacular on a beautiful day. The main Zig Zag Track was closed for repairs, but I came down the South Wellington Track which then joins other tracks. At The Springs there was a choice of routes down.

Paul is the funny man and best tour guide

It was a fun bus ride to Mt Wellington.. Paul was so entertaining and engaging.. he is so funny and helpful. All the best Paul! Well see you again.. he does extra mile to make the trip fun and engaging

Incredible trip up the mountain

What a wonderful trip. Our guide/driver was great. The views were incredible. Special thanks to Paul our driver for finding and giving me back my prescription glasses two days later!

Locals who learnt new things

Even though we are locals we had a fantastic and informative trip up the mountain to start our bike descent. Our driver was very knowledgeable, we learnt thing we never new he was also humorous but not annoying.10 out of 10 This has become our family tradition for my sons birthday and we are already looking forward to next time. the best way to hike the mountain

Tony is such a lovely driver I've taken the bus up a few times and he's always very thoughful this time he introduced the group (at a safe distance) to a Lovely tiger snake very impressed

Hassle Free Journey

Easy to follow meeting spot, great commentary, informative guide on several options available. It leaves from the centre of Hobart and then a few stops along the way to point out different attractions on the journey up. Very flexible to jump on different buses with different options too after booking

The bus driver, Tony, was a hoot! Got us to the top very safely, gave fabulous information about the locations, and was super friendly. Bus was very clean. I would recommend this tour.

Great option to get to the top

We had a group of 8 who took the bus to the top of Mt Wellington to hike back down. The ride up was fantastic - our driver was great fun and very informative and we got to see an amazing part of the world. I highly recommend the trip.

the bus driver (apologies I don't recall his name) went above and beyond, his knowledge and commentary along the way was most informative. He also gave me a map with suggested trails to follow back down the mountain, one of the most beautiful walks I have ever done. thank you

One way your up my wellington

It was a fantastic trip, our tour guide was really knowledgeable and entertaining and gave us great tips on the best way to walk back down. We were late and he called us to make sure we could catch them at the next bus stop, so grateful as we had a great experience, thank you.

A really great trip to the most wondrous views of Hobart and the surrounding area. We took a one-way trip up and walked back. There are a lot of trails to choose from and it's quite easy to take the wrong one and miss the best views and end up in the wrong place. The driver was excellent and couldn't do enough to help everyone have the best experience. As the Zig zag track is currently closed, we walked towards Springs staring at the chalet which meant we were rewarded with wonderful views of Hobart the whole time. A great day out.

A delightful experience

I went with my two sons on the bus and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We liked the the stories told by Christian and his warmness to the group. We liked the brief stop at the Springs to go for a hike. The One Way tour suited us because we wanted to do more hiking. The only problem was that we couldn't always hear him talking through the microphone though we mostly did. I recommend this experience rather than driving up the mountain.

This is a safe and easy way to visit Kunanyi. The driver Greg was so professional and helpful in advising me how to trek downhill to the Fern Tree. I had a one-way ticket only, but I bought another with the driver for a bit extra to take the bus to return from Fern Tree. The buses were very comfy. The driver Chris also was so friendly and passionate, he explained to me how to visit Silver Falls and come back to Fern Tree to return by the last bus of the day. It was an amazing day, with beautiful views, and great trekking!

Fantastic experience with kunanyi/Mt Wellington Explorer Bus. We did the One Way Tour and found the bus very comfortable, the tour guide exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, and the experience itself would be one we'd definitely do again. The guide took us to the top of kunanyi so we could enjoy the view and take photos and then brought us a little further down the mountain to where it was safe to start our walk down to Fern Tree. The views were breathtaking and the walk was well signposted and easy to follow. I would highly recommend this experience to others.

Our driver Christian was wonderful and gave us an extra pit stop at the springs lookout as well as giving us directions on how to hike back to Hobart.

Take your bike on a one-way tour

Caught the bus up with my bike and enjoyed the roll down back to Hobart. Tour operator/driver was extremely knowledgeable of Hobart and filled the journey with interesting facts.

Great guide and service

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip up the mountain with Dave the driver/guide. As we were going to be walking down Mt Wellington, he pointed out the various walking track start/finish points and landmarks along the way. Would highly recommend the explorer bus.

Bike down Mt Wellington

We hired bikes from Brooke Street bike hire who were great in looking after us & booked a one way Mt Wellington explorer trip. Bike freight was free through Brooke Street bike hire & once up the top we rode down the mountain on the road (great coffee on the way down) then followed the rivulet ride into Hobart - beautiful ride & highly recommended for those who like a little adventure (& who doesn’t!)

Excellent

The company was amazing and their tour guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The bus was immaculate and very warm. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone. Even though we did not see snow on that trip our tour guide tried to find a day during our stay that it may have happened.

Mount Wellington one-way

Easy to book online and convenient departure point. We took our bikes to the top of Mount Wellington on the bus for the down hill ride. How majestic to be above the clouds on the top of Mount Wellington. So many walking paths to take from the top so if you like to hike best get up there early and dress for warmth! Our driver Tony was super friendly and really knowledgeable about Hobart giving us commentary (and some humour) along the way, he made the trip from Hobart very enjoyable.

Caught the bus up to a very cold Mt Wellington and was very impressed with the service and trip. Driver Gary?? was very helpful and a great guide for our trip. We also took our bikes with us which was no problem. Would highly recommend !!

Mount Wellington/kunanyi shuttle bus review

It was a really great experience. The driver/guide clearly loved Hobart and Tasmania and was full of knowledge not just about mount Wellington but also the surrounding area. He knew a bit about everything - history, geology, flora and fauna, and was friendly and personable. It was also really easy hopping on and off the bus, and you could tell the company really care about the safety of their travelers. Would 100% recommend to anyone planning on visiting Hobart.

Just took a ride up to the top Of the mountain. All good and Christian, our driver/guide, was terrific and very helpful in giving us a map and suggested route for our bush walk back to town (via the Cascade brewery).

Great views, great day

We had David as our driver, he was friendly and informative. 30min to walk around the top to take photos was enough in windy conditions. We were going to take the Zigzag track back down to Fern Tree but David recommend starting from The Chalet which half the bus need up doing. It was an easy walk and beautiful scenery. From there we hopped back on the bus and came back to Hobart. Definitely recommend doing this trip

Grew views, awesome driver!

Such an awesome way to explore the mountain and enjoy some commentary on the way up! Absolutely stunning views at the top and obviously the easier job of riding our hire bikes down rather than up was a perfect way to enjoy the afternoon.

Fantastic

Booked the Kunanyi/Mt Wellington Explorer Bus which took us to the pinnacle. Our driver was very lovely and very knowledgeable - he gave us a good running commentary on the way up. Once at the top we were provided with a walking trail map and bus timetable for our walk down the mountain. You also have the option of hopping off the bus at lower points and hiking up the mountain and if you change your mind and don’t want to do a walk you have the option of taking the bus back into the city. Definitely we’ll worth it. Thank you Kunanyi/Mt Wellington Explorer.

Tour up, Cycle down

Just arriving to Hobart we wanted to do something a bit disappointed different. So we hired some bikes and found this awesome offer of being taken up to the top of Mt Wellington to then cycle all the way down back into Hobart (18km approx). Our driver up took us to an amazing lookout and was very knowledgeable of the area. He also had a great sense of humour! Would do again!
