Bruny Island Traveller - Gourmet Tasting and Sightseeing Day Trip from Hobart

An awesome day adventure!

I love a day when I am like a child, taken everywhere, without any responsibility to drive or think. Pennicott Journeys give you this in spades. Outstanding day. Its long (7.40am-5.30pm) but Alan was a font of knowledge and a fantastic driver/guide. Lovely that we got offered a pick up at the hotel, great as we'd got into our hotel after 11pm the night before. Picked up another 10 people and off we went. Loads of information the whole way. First stop was at Kettering harbour. There's toilets and a shop there where you can grab a coffee or bite to eat. Loved the ferry trip over, its very peaceful. First stop at Bruny Island Cheese. We love this place. Used to get the cheese subscription for sometime. Met a lovely French girl who explained the four cheeses we had (Raw C2, Raw Tom, Saint & 1762) though I wanted to eat them immediately and not really listen to the voiceover as it was early in the morning and I was hungry. A glass of beer was also given, made in their brewery. Don't drink beer but told it was very good. A chance to buy cheese and produce there. Lovely place surrounded by bush. Two Tree Point beach was my favourite. Place where Cook and Bligh had stopped. Divine beach, white sand, blue water. Loads of kelp on the beach, what an amazing seaweed it is. A beautiful creek ran into the beach. Water was so cold and tasted amazing. Lunch at Pennicott's beachside restaurant, what a lovely meal. Alan had picked up some fresh oysters from Get Shucked just before. Wow they were amazing. We all got swayed by Alan's rave about their fish and chips, so we all had the same. It was so good. Love how the Tasmanian's batter their fish in breadcrum compared to Melbourne where its mostly beer battered. It was a nice change. We got two drinks also. Out to Malvista Rainforest. Only a quick walk to see and feel the rainforest. It was beautiful and pristine. Headed to HIBA, property of two lovely gents, who have opened it to Pennicott. The gardens were so extensive and beautiful right on Adventure Bay. Michael is a chef and makes all the chocolates at the Bruny Island Chocolate Company. Headed home via the Bligh Museum and Bruny Honey. Loads of samples and gifts given during this trip. Really a fabulous day out and much to recommend!

Bruney island trip awesome

The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable, food was great and well worth the journey. Definitely recommend doing this tour.

A must do

This was a fantastic day, worth every bit of the cost. Zoe our tour guide for the day did an amazing job making the day fun & interesting, she was patient & knowledgable as well as an excellent driver. The day closed in while we were on the boat but it did not detract from the experience, the coastline was breathtaking, like nothing we had ever experienced before. The food provided was also delicious, overall an experience not to be missed

Fell in love with Bruny Island having done the gourmet tour!

The Bruny Island Gourmet Tour with Daniel (our fabulous and informative guide) was jam packed and a brilliant way to see a lot of Bruny Island. We were blessed with wonderful weather, so we enjoyed nature walks and ate sumptuous treats that the Island has to offer. Highly recommend this tour.

Great day out, driver/tour leader Kieran really nice and so knowledgeable of the area. Cheese , beer tasting, honey, ice cream, chocolate and a lovely lunch in nice venue.

A must do tour in Hobart

An amazing day out with Alan. Everything was so well organised from pick up to drop off. A fantastic day on Bruny Island. A delicious lunch and lots of little gifts from the places we visited which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. We saw 5 white joeys which was due to Alan's eagle eye! A must do if you are in Hobart.

Bruny Beautification

The cheese and beer experience was interesting and extremely tasty. The garden at the chocolate property is wonderful. The honey experience was very tasty. The cost to the Neck was beautiful I cannot walk up stairs so the ramp was a lovely walk with the beautiful view in the photo I included above. The driver/ guide Daniel was very knowledgeable. The weather was gorgeous and it was a wonderful day.

Must see Bruny Island, a great day out

Our tour was fun and informative! Pick up was easy, a short walk to our collection point. Dan our guide was knowledgeable, personable and an excellent host. All the destinations we went to were well chosen and we were greeted warmly by all the hosts. My favourite was the cheese tasting. The rest were a very close second. I enjoyed the museum, it was interesting to see a catalogue of items, varied and collected from everywhere together. The rain forest was beautiful. I recommend this trip.

Our driver Kieran was charming and informative and the tour around Bruny was great.Fresh oysters,lovely cheese and beer,a super lunch and honey tasting all combined to make the day special!

Worth a try if you don’t have a car

Here's my quick review. Our guide, Kiron, was humorous and kind (even when I mistakenly waited at the wrong spot and delayed us a bit). Despite the cloudy weather, the views were stunning with mist and clouds, and the sea was a beautiful emerald green.The morning beer and cheese session was fun and informative, offering some neat insights. The chocolate and honey tasted great (might be a bit sweet for Asians), with the honey ice cream being exceptionally delicious.Everyone was friendly, especially David and his wife, making for a pleasant lunch, I love them and I had a nice trip.

Well balance FULL day tour

Looked for an experience to take family visitors from UK, this whistle stop tour of Bruny Island was perfect. Picked up from hotel by driver /guide Tom. Initially a tour group of 'loud' Americans looked ominous, but as the day progressed their stereotypical outlook on life & fear of Australian things that kill (as opposed to guns) became quite amusing. Tom was as good a guide as i've experienced on many such mini tours i've done in Australia and UK / Europe. UK family well impresed with the experience - 3rd Pennecott tour in 8 years for ourselves - each has been 10/10

Bruny Island tasting and sightseeing tour.

An enjoyable day out on a big bus tour. Enjoyed all the sightseeing stops and the tastings along the way. Nice amount of time for the lunch stop also.

Lovely journey in Bruny Island

The view of Bruny island is great. Different shops are there. The tour guide Tom made my trip more memorable with his knowledge and enthusiasm.

Enjoyable

The day was very enjoyable even though the weather wasn’t. Tom worked with the changeable weather stopping under cover where possible and adjusting our schedule accordingly when not raining . Will return next time to explore Bruny Island some more. The food was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend.

A well organized and variety of activities to get a taste of Bruny Island.

Alan was a knowledgeable, organized and low key guide. He did a great job! The day is filled with a nice variety of activities and visits-where you get a taste of Bruny Island. We would very much recommend this guide to Bruny Island.

Fun food adventure

Wonderful, fun driver/guide. Only negative is drive to and walk along some nature trail. Made no sense with days activities and seemed like stalling for time. Okay if back prior to 6:30 pm.

Overpriced sightseeing tour!

The cheese and beer experience. Learning how the cheese is made. The lunch was sub par - frozen fish! Never heard the story about the chocolate place. The grounds were beautiful.

Fun time was had by all. Liked the garden tour the best . Well organized and on time. Cheese was great as was the chocolate.

From the moment Kerry picked us up the whole day was memorable and such a joy. The various stops and the people we met and the excellent food were well worth the price. We have truly experienced Bruny Island and feel uplifted as a result.

Loved it all. Our guide, Alan, was very knowledgeable and approachable. We had a small group on our bus which made the tour most enjoyable.

Unbelievable experience. Great spot with excellent guide, she was friendly and cooperative. Foods were so delicious that we love all. Overall, the whole journey with the guide was outstanding.

beautiful bruny

fabulous day in a stunning part of the world and the weather was perfect!! Alan our driver was everything you could want in a guide and the amount of places we visited was amazing. From beer cheese chocolate and honey tasting to a lovely lunch as well as veiwing platforms over magnificent scenery and lots of history. I think i loved the gardens at the chocolate shop the most. We arrived back in Hobart after a long full day very happy and replete!!

What a beautiful day spent exploring Bruny Island! Our tour guide (Happy Retirement Paul!!) was superb in his presentation, including all kinds of interesting tidbits of local insight. So many delicious stops throughout the day, sure to please everyone along the way! With 4 different stops including food and/or goodies, no one leaves this excursion hungry. A calm and peaceful day including short hikes, beautiful vistas to photograph, a ferry boat ride and the very clean and comfortable bus make for a highly recommended day!

Beautiful place with a lot more to see

First time to Bruny Island, it was a very long day. Guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. Great history

If there’s only one thing you do while visiting the Hobart area, this should be it.

Taking in the breathtaking scenery, fascinating history and sampling the freshest of local produce was a unique experience you will find nowhere else. Our guide Kieran was very engaging with all travellers on the tour and had a very thorough knowledge of Bruny Island and its surrounding areas. This tour is a must do for those visiting Hobart!

My partner likes snacks...

My partner likes snacks and I like to see and experience things - this was the perfect blend of both! It's a long drive through the region, but totally worth it, and there were plenty of amazing local flavors for us to try. The local food and wine/beer is a must-do (our friends from Tasmania told us this was one of the key aspects of the island!) We had an amazing, relaxing day and feel we really saw all the best of the area.

Everything was amazing...

Everything was amazing from Ferry ride over to drop off .Guide Kai was very knowledgeable and friendly.Highlights were seeing white wallaby ,walk up The Neck and tour round the private garden

Do it!

Every stop was unique and special experience. The guide was friendly and accommodating. Even though there is s bit of driving involved, it was an enjoyable trip.

Long day but worth it

Friendly bus driver and people. Tasty food great cherries! Saw an echidna amongst the penguin burrows.

Bruny island feast and fun

The tour was well organised, commentary from Katie was great. All stops were interesting and informative. And the food was delicious. Best oysters ever. Great cheese, beer, wine honey and chocolate. Thoroughly enjoyable day . Certainly gain a better experience than trying to do it yourself.

We have a great time!

Bruny Island is peaceful and beautiful. Bruny Island neck was amazing. We enjoyed learning about the island and sampling local cheese, beer, chocolate, honey and ice cream! We even get to see white wallabies! One warning...I bought several honey at the island but they were confiscated by New Zealand customs..Apparently Australian honey is not allowed to bring in.. bummer!

Brilliant!!

The tour was superb. Our driver and host for the day - Zoe was brilliant - friendly, kind, knowledgeable and very personable - a wonderful ambassador for her company. Cheese, bread, and beer for brekky - awesome!, stops at local beautiful natural attractions - beaches and walks, a lunch that was delicious together with beverages of choice and a sample of mead, stops at chocolate and honey businesses, together with high quality samples gave excellent value for money for the day. When I found out that the company donates 25% of its profits to local charities I was so amazed! A rough calculation of the price of my ticket, including the tastings, lunch, beverages, samples, fuel cost, museum entry, and local knowledge and the percentage of profit going to local charities- this company is very impressive!! Thank you and congratulations to all.

Fantastic trip to Bruny Island

The ability of our guide to convey as much of her knowledge about Bruny Island as she did was remarkable. The tour packs in a lot of different elements so it really is a must.

Best tour Ive been on in quite some time - highly recommended

generally against guided tours - they take a lot of time, mostly filler, you're at the mercy of a guide and lastly the make take you places you really don't want to go to. The tour with Pennicott was all the opposite. The driver/guide was knowledgeable, had a sense of humor, the stops were all interesting, the meal given was OK, and both the cheese/beer stop and oysters (though I'm not a fan) were very good. The tour itself encompasses all the main sites of Bruny island, from the views of the "neck", a small walk in the semi tropical forest, to the stop at the Bligh museum and the stopmwhere both Bligh and Cook stopped for fresh water from a stream that's still there. amazing and on the beach. SO I'm a fan and highly recommend the Traveller tour (we could only choose one!).
