Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary General Entry Ticket

Fun day out

Parking is 10 dollars and is opposite the wildlife sanctuary or you can try and find street parking. Admission was worth it when you considered the included train ride and shows. High ropes course is extra. I enjoyed seeing the bilbies, koalas and eels and pelicans and dinosaurs. The llamas and guinea pigs were also cute. We spent 4 hours here and the sanctuary is well signed. The map has been updated also.

This is worth going to.

This was a last-minute decision to go here as both my sisters have been here before, it didn't disappoint. It was easy to get around, shaded and the train ride added to all sorts of disabilities and even an area for parents with prams. The only negative is you have to pay for the carpark as well. Highlight: The bird show.

Somewhat disappointing

Nice place with a pretty walk. Great to see koala so close and the salt water croc was huge! We went from 10am to around 1pm and saw about 4 lorikeets. Very disappointing. Really poor to have bird feeding at 8am and 4pm. Nothing like it used to be. Terrible completely useless map too. Overall, not great value for money and don’t go if you expect to feed lots of birds (unless you go early or late).

Fantastic Wildlife Santuary

This had to be one of the best days out on the Gold Coast (although we have had an amazing time at lots of places) - what a beautiful sanctuary with so much to do. We had such a wonderful day out. You can see how well cared for the wildlife are here. So many koalas and there are kangaroos to interact with (just need to buy a $4 bag of food from the kiosk located near by). Our 11 year old was desparte to hold a koala and having read some of the reviews online about the long wait time, we came prepared to wait. Tip: if you go to the 12.30 session, and are prepared to line up early, I would suggest start to line up at 12pm and then you only wait for 30 mins as they are pretty fast once the photo sessions open up after lunch. Holding the koala was actually worth the wait, so darn cute and really great photo keep sakes. Yes it is very pricey but we were comforted in the fact that the money goes back to the Sanctuary not some big corporate. You can also opt for Zip lining - it looked awesome - we didnt do it though because everyone was a bit tired from our adventures prior to this. Was neat seeing all the older volunteers around the place and I love the conservation story of this place. Well worth every $$ spent.

Way too costly and just not fun

Such a rip off .. what a disappointing experience. Costs alot to get in $64 and $10 parking … but fair enough the center needs to take care of these gorgeous animals. Unfortunately, and not that anyone will tell you once you’ve paid entry, if you wanna hold the koala be prepared to stand in line for more than an hour in the sun only to find out that you have been standing in line to pay $49 more … and then after they rudely extort the $49 .. you will stand in line an additional 20 min. before getting anywhere near the koala. And if you think you’ll have more than 30 seconds holding the koala .. well you’ll be disappointed cause the handler rudely tells you she doesn’t have time to let your family also take a picture of you. One good thing, at least when you pay $49 to hold the koala .. there is actually an electric fan there to cool the cashier. And the kangaroos are amazing .. but you’ll need to pay $4 for a small bag of food 🤦‍♀️. Go to Lone Pine .. may be further but a much better day.

Great place to see the kangaroos and other wildlife. All animals are friendly, and the people working there are great. Welle worth the visit.

Well worth the visit

We strolled around for about 2.5hrs and also went to the bird show which was awesome - would recommend. We weren’t sure if this would be worth it as we read mixed reviews, but there were lots of cool animals to see and it felt like pretty much all the enclosures were full. The staff were all really friendly, and for most of the enclosures etc you were shaded under trees so it wasn’t too hot.

Koalas stole my heart

Koalas & Kangaroos

Great experience at the Wildlife Sanctuary where we saw so many Koalas and Kangaroos. It is a nice open atmosphere where getting close to the animals are just a given. The guides were great and very knowledgeable. However the map was very confusing and we had difficulty understanding it and finding the exit. Other than that the whole experience was great.

Very Cool Animal Experience

Very cool experience and I don't even like animals a whole bunch. Being up close to kangaroos and other wildlife like Koalas was amazing to see. Animals were calm and staff did a great job of watching everyone closely.

Really lovely place and growing too!!

Having done Australia Zoo a number of times and never been here, we came on this trip. We had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of animals to see. The lady who gave the talk about the Tasmanian Devils was very passionate about them. They are in the middle of a HUGE addition atm, which looks like it will at least double the park that was there. I'd like to go back and see once it's all finished.

Fantastic experience

Everything was great - except for the fact, that we still had to wait in [the long] line despite us having tickets through Viator already. So be aware of this when you get there.

The birds are forgotten

Hmm. Very ordinary. It used to be such a fab bird park but now it’s a bit of everything but nothing good. Do we need more kangaroos koalas etc?? Food was good, a little healthier than most such parks. But is it worth the entry fee?

Generational family day out. Great way to spend a day as plenty to see.

Haven't been to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for MANY years!! My first trip was back in the early 60's when birdfeeding was the big attraction and there was very little of surburbia surrounding, just a few beach shacks. Probably went again in the early 2000s with my children and returned this year with the grandchildren. WOW!!! What an amazing experience. SO much to see and do, the children all had an amazing adventure, and enjoyed the Blinky & Betsy Christmas Show. The photos taken were great and good value. The Eagle photo opportunity, I guess they can't always get the birds to spread their wings, so it was a bit disappointing and blah as a photo, but the grandchildren loved getting up close and personal. IF you are a coeliac, hubby enjoyed a delicious lunch at the cafe at the entrance, which was tasty and filling and not overly expensive. VERY disappointed that Beefys Pies was not open (peak season and start of Qld School Holidays I would have thought they would have been, there was a large group [possibly school holiday programme] who were disappointed when I informed them it wasn't open today). Probably my only criticism is the lack of catering for Coeliacs which is a disease not a dietary choice. OVERALL as a day out, I highly recommend. Their is a family pass available to make it a little more affordable, and if you have your Seniors Card with you there is a discount.

Disappointing

So disappointing. No warning that the train was not functioning, the kangaroo paddock mostly closed for renovations. Super bossy person doing koala photos treated our US guests like schoolchildren. Embarrassing. Not what it used to be, very commercial.

Nice day out

Not sure what i was expecting but felt a little let down with the day with the amount we paid for a family ticket. Worth the money if you had little people with you using the splash park, dinosaur area and feeding the kangaroos. A lot of walking up and around areas looking for animals. The bird show was good but the train doesn't run when it is on and a lot of people going back on it, was quicker to walk.

A Dream Come True

This was the highlight of our trip to Australia. Beautiful well loved animals, with staff and volunteers who were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Photo with the koala was a dream come true and will be remembered forever. We also did the Tree Top Challenge which was ridiculously fun, make sure you book this in if you have the time. All amenities were clean and tidy, and the map was easy to follow. Lorikeet feeding time was a hoot. Normally we avoid gift shops but we found the gift shop here to be full of interesting and great quality items that were well priced too. We will cherish our day here forever!

Unexpectedly great!

What a surprise! Have never bothered going here, in all of our trips, but today we decided to give it a go. So glad, beautifully done, lovely setting and healthy, happy animals.

Def worth a visit

What an amazing experience, big highlight of our trip. Got to see so many animals, feed kangaroos & hold a koala! Best thing is it is all about conservation & not just a zoo!

Even better than expected!

We knew that we would love the (added) Koala encounter - but it was even more amazing than expected! The whole part is done with quality and care and, after also visiting the (very new and nice) Sydney Zoo, it made us appreciate the opportunity to actually hold the animals even more. This is one of the few places left where you can hold a (wonderfully cared for) Koala - but, with laws changing, this may not be an option for much longer!

A highlight and a must do

This was a highlight of our trip. It was so cool to get close to the birds and have them sit on us and feed from our hands. It was great seeing all the animals and it's the first time I've seen Tasmanian Devils up close. Really good day, it's a really big park so wear good shoes. Loved it all. The food and ice cream was good too.

Contactless payment surcharge

Nice to see some animals but overpriced. They surcharge for credit card and extra charge for non contactless payment which was not notified

Thoroughly enjoyable

Wonderful day out. Was able to hold a small snake, feed the lorikeet, and see the kangaroos up close. The flying bird show was great. Definitely make sure you you attend all the shows!

Great day out

It was a great day out. Very accessible by bus from Broadbeach. Lots of animals to see with lots of signs containing interesting information. Navigation was a tad confusing at the start, but once I worked things out, I got around the whole park very easily. Definitely recommend if you're interested in Australian wildlife.

Please make a new map

Animals appear healthy and well cared for. Plenty to see here as we saw it all several times while lapping the place repeatedly looking for the cassowary. The map they supply is completely hopeless and impossible to follow. My friend has spent a career reading plans and he couldn't work it out. We saw several people staring at the map looking confused. We asked volunteers 3 times who vaguely pointed in various directions but alas we walked many more kms than necessary and left without ever seeing a cassowary.

Not worth anymoreanymorep

Lots of building going on,lost valley are lost complete no walk around touching kangaroos not what it used to be (5 years ago),arrived lunchtime no train no show until the end of 4pm ,not worth the money any more

Surprisingly Awesome

This ended up being a completely unexpected highlight of our stay at the Gold Coast - and we didn't even plan on visiting initially. Animals have a great amount of space, staff are friendly and the prices are fair. Highly recommend!

Local conservation

Nice little wildlife park with lots of koalas, kangaroos and other native animals. Relatively small so didn’t take too long to walk around. Some enclosures were not the best to see the animals but this is fine. The keeper talks very informative and last 10 minutes so do not become boring.

Great half day out

I loved this place. I spent the morning there, arriving around 930 and leaving about 1pm. It’s easy to get to on the bus from Pacific Fair. While it’s a little on the expensive side (esp food,drink, souvenirs) I didn’t actually kind as it’s all super well kept, and really obvious that there’s a lot of care put in for the welfare of the animals. There’s even a hospital on site. Being there in the morning a lot of animals were sleeping so I think I’d probably go late morning/for the afternoon next time but it was pretty chill just watching the animals do their thing. A special shout out to the keepers in the kangaroo enclosure who were coping with imbecilic behaviour from some tourists wanting them to wake up the kangaroos, chasing emu etc. All staff I encountered were lovely, knowledgeable and very happy to have a chat, answer questions etc. Freya’s pelican and eel presentation was awesome too. My fave animals were the koalas but it was cool seeing sunbathing lemurs and a wallaby with a Joey, among other things. Lots of options for kids as well. There’s only one place to eat inside the park and it was expensive but okay. The coffee at the entrance cafe is excellent though!

A must see for kids and adults

An awesome way to spend the day with family and young ones. Lost of wildlife to see both in the cages and wandering about. I must be on a roll because I got to see a Tasmanian Devil again! My son adores animals, reptiles, birds...you name it. He was never bored and loved every bit, including the dinosaur Extinction Trail and play ground. The best bit was the parrot feeding at the end. This is a must for any visitor, unless you have seen the movie Birds by Alfred Hitchcock! These amazing coloured birds flock down to see you by the hundreds!

Interesting history

The bird/flight show was interesting & good to watch. Plan your day to ultise the little train, it doesn't run while the flight show is on. The paths are concrete, good for wheelchairs & prams although there are many areas that are steep and are sign posted. The kangaroo area is very open & you are able to feed them, watch your little people as the kangaroos move around a lot. The feeding/talks are listed and planning the day will save sad/tired people at the end as there is a lot of park to cover. The history of the park is worth a stop to watch (video). There are a lot of different koala areas to see them up close. If you have little people, the water area /playground is a must. There is bird feeding before you enter the park & honey world in the car park.

Enjoyable day!

Everything besides one aviary was accessible with my wheelie walker. Even the train was! The driver had to put my walker in a front carriage but he took the walker from the carriage I was seated in. They honour the companion card and give the carer free access to the grounds. All the animals were out and playing.

Great day for all

We had an amazing day at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Plenty of koalas to see!!! Must DO is have a photo with a koala 🐨 and if you’re more adventurous take a behind the scenes tour and get in The enclosures with them and have a lesson on them.

A Must Do Location

We spent a very full and wonderful day here. We were both entitled to concession rate tickets which made our truly wonderful experience exceptional value for money. The wildlife park covers a large area so you do need to walk but the grounds are stunning in this sub tropical part of Australia. The park is immaculate and the staff are really friendly. This short visit to the hospital was really interesting. We will be back the next time we are here in Queensland.

Great zoo and touch some animals

An excellent day out with plenty of native animals to see and learn more about. I really enjoyed stroking a couple kangaroos and holding a koala called Blue. The little train was closed for work which was a Shane. UK visitors if you are a National Trust member ensure to bring your members card for free entry

Enjoyable day out

Great time spent with family and the grandchildren got there dead on time for the bird feeding took a while for the birds to warm to the crowd but worth the wait some amazing photos. Grandchildren really enjoyed the dinosaur section and feeding the kangaroos. Had lunch there enjoyable meal.Family all agreed well worth the visit.

A little overpriced but worth seeing

The park was immaculately clean and the staff (especially the volunteers) were friendly and helpful however it wasn't easy to navigate around (even with the map provided) the were an abundance of signposts but the route shown was unclear. I would have to say it is unsuitable for those with limited mobility and no mobility scooters are available (neither for hire ar complimentary) which in today's market is surprising, they do have wheelchairs available for hire but users would require a very fit person to assist as the terrain is not flat and has many steps to negotiate. The shows/entertainment are good and reasonably well presented however sometimes difficult to hear clearly the verbal presentation. The usual array of snacks and souvenirs are available around the park. One major positive is the regular availability of water fountains and toilets. Overall I wasn't disappointed but it didn't wow me either

Concerned with what's going on

Lots of disruption and construction going on, love this place but we weren't prepared for this. Staff didn't seem to be able to explain what is going on and we paid full price for a construction site

Great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Well laid out with lots to see. Staff are friendly and helpful. Being able to feed and be around kangaroos is especially great for those that are not from Australia. We were late in the day so only saw koala bears asleep in their trees. The live bird show is informative and entertaining as was the aboriginal dance.

Terrible train driver

The train driver was extremely rude when we sat down. Made me and my son feel as though we shouldn't be there. Made quite a derogitiive comment to us when we got our seat.

Wildlife encounters

First time encounter with koala with my Husband finds so amazingly the wildlife they have there.. Getting there easier for us by bus.. You must secured bus card at news agency at Pines shopping centre.. For some Tourists I hope they have that.. Easier to travel by bus.. So many wildlife encounters inside its worth it.. Had pictures with koala too.. Kangaroo and so on...

worthwhile

The sanctuary is a large forested area ~40-50 min from Broadbeach. Of the many similar places I've been, this is probably one of the best in terms of the spaciousness and the obvious care the take of the animals. Free roaming roos, ibises (the exceptions were desultory and sad-looking emus and a dingo, obviously unhappy with the confinement). Lots of birds, and even the famous lungfish. No cassowaries, as far as I could see, which is probably a good thing. The staff is superb in every way. I was impressed by the open design of the animal hospital, which allows you to watch the operations in real time, across the glass. Lots of well-thought outreach activities, excellent shops. The place is ideal for families but not uninteresting to the average adult, who can see a lot of Australian wildlife in a confined area.

Fun family day

Lovely park to walk around and explore. There's lots of lizards everywhere so the kids had fun spotting them. There is 2 trains that go around the park. All the staff and volunteers were so cheerful and helpful. Not as many animals as expected but still a fun family day

Great to see lots of Aussie animals

We loved our day here! Excellent way to see lots of Australian animals, and the extra experiences are fantastic. We did the koala experience which is quite a quick walk in one of the pens with a talk about them and a chance to hold a koala. Great for kids too (although if they are younger the keeper will hold the koala for the photo and kids stand beside). The free flight bird show was great and the keepers all seem really helpful and passionate. We easily spent a whole day there and saw heaps. Having the train was a good way to get back to the start after a lot of walking! There is also a splash pad area for kids although we didn't make it to that. Would definitely go again.

A pleasant outing

At first it seemed like an expensive walk. Couldn't find much to see/do on the eastern side of the grounds, no displays on. Found very few animals; a few koalas, lots of lizards/dragons freely roaming. It was only in the more northerly part of the grounds that we started to see more animals. Vet hospital was fascinating. I hope a large part of the expensive entry fee goes towards the running of that. Really could have done without the piped music everywhere - let us enjoy the sounds of nature. The wraps at the Sanctuary Cafe at the entry/exit were delicious and fresh.

Kangaroo and Koala in Gold coast

The only zoo that located in gold coast. We can find the authentic kangaroo and koala here and a lot of another animals. I enjoyed it so much

Can’t miss when visiting Gold Coast!

We had an amazing day at Currumbin, for me this is a can’t miss when visiting Gold Coast! - photo holding a koala - Feed and interact with their kangaroos - Incredible live bird show - Biggest standout to me were the staff at Currumbin. Absolutely EVERY team member I interacted with was so friendly and happy to chat and answer questions, engaged with their work, so knowledgeable about the wildlife and their habitat. Expensive place to view nature and wildlife. Very sad that it costs so much.

Too expensive for the average family. This prices to enter are horrible. Crippled us. Go somewhere free. Very unfortunate that nature and wildlife cost so much to see. Very sad.

Great for children...

Great for children learning and areas for lunch when you don’t want to spend $, many hidden gems whilst walking around.
