It was a simple walk through the saligao village. Adolfina made it into an extraordinary experience with her stories of the past, ghostly experiences, as well as, showing us plants & herbs and their uses in daily life. We friends had an unforgettable time.

Saligao Stories

It was my first trail with Soul travellers and our guide was Adolfina. I throughly enjoyed the trail, Adolfina has superb knowledge about the place and it was great learning so many news things about Saligao. Enjoyed the walk thoroughly. Such a beautiful experience just walking through the beautiful lanes, amazing old homes and an amazing host, Adolphina. She had such a flair for transporting us into a world of charm, grandeur and fantasy that time just flew by without us knowing that 3 hours just wooshed by. Waiting yo do another "SOUL" travel soon.

Highly recommended!

Attended the walk on 16th November. Couldn't have asked for a better experience on the very first day of my Goa trip :) The local guide, Adolfina wears several hats and is closely connected to the community here, which really helped me in understanding the local culture better in such a short time. I was enthralled with the attention to detail given on the nature surrounding us - the plants, animals, stones etc and the shifts occurring with the passing generations. I should also mention that I was the only attendee and so was surprised to know that they still went ahead with the walk, which should be appreciated. Thank you, Soul Travelling!

Nice evening out away from the beach in North Goa

Nice walk through narrow village lanes. Stories by our guide were great. Was a great experience away from the beach. Beautiful old houses on the track. Also gave me a chance to intract with locals- locals and not touristic-locals. Loved it.

Explore Saligao on foot!

We walked with Bob, our storyteller who is also an avid musician! Ask him about the evolution of music while also spotting the beautiful birds in the bundh. The Saligao Passai is all about slowing down and noticing the intricate details in the Mae De Deus Church, the cemetary and even a few spooky stories from houses that are over a hundred years old. Walk into a living relic, the Bobo House and meet it's lovely host and her loving four legged critters. It's like stepping back in time and imagining a time that shimmers still, like the verdant green of the paddy fields around every turn!

Adventurous Builder ;)

So I booked this tour thinking that I ll probably visit some place. Little did I know that I was about to be mesmerised by not just the beauty of the place but also the kind hearted, musical,witty, adventurous and the sweetest stroll partner Bob! The efforts put by soul travelling into making all this happen very swiftly is what excites me as a solo travelling woman. I had no idea what i was about to do in this tour. I blindly put my faith into the team and i do not regret it. I would highly recommend this company and all the tours it does around Goa ,to everyone!!!!

We got to learn so much about Saligao from our sweet and polite guide Bob- the history and interesting stories around the heritage houses, the village church, cemetery, local bar etc. He also treated us with some yummy snacks towards the end of the walk :)

Walking Tour of Sailgao - A mix of Old and New

Hi had an amazing experience with Soul Travelling, this is my third experience with them. Adolfina was fun and full of anecdotes throughout the Sailgao tour. From architecture to flora on the trail she was very insightful and knowledgeable. The old Goan home we visited really was a great end to the tour, every wall had a story to be told be the black and white pictures, the hand painted walls or the antiques adorning every corner.

Peaceful walk in Saligao

Great tour to visit the peaceful Village of Saligao.Bob and Joshua did a great job and explained the history of the church along with the tiny architectural details that play a part in explaining the heritage and it's history. Highlight of the tour was the cafe at the end with the local bites and tea perfect for a rainy day..

A great walk in a charming village

On our recent Goa trip we did a wonderful tour of Saligao with Adolfina. We started our walk in the late afternoon when it started to cool off, and it's a great way to spend the evening and see the sunset in an offbeat place. The village is lovely, a quaint and quiet oasis in the rapidly developing north part of Goa, full of natural beauty and stunning houses plus the grand church and interesting cemetery which all take you back to a bygone era. Adolfina is a very charming host, telling us stories of the area and its culture as well as sharing her expertise in the plant and animal life we encountered on our walk. She also provided us with some delicious Goan desserts, a few made with local rice, which are little known and hard to find. This was my third experience with Soul Travelling and I would definitely do more when I come back to Goa in the future.

Amazing evening stroll around the village

It is an amazing experience to walk around the village while hearing about the legends and stories related to the village. The visit to the local indo-Portuguese house is absolutely delightful. Thank you Adolfina for making the overall experience memorable.

Serene and spooky

The tour started with how the church came into being and then the rest of the stories followed. As we went towards the village the walk was so beautiful and serene we loved it. Adolfina, our tour moderator was a lot of fun, she told us local stories about plants, people, architecture and even local haunted stories. Our walk was a blast.

Noteworthy trail 👣 to Saligao

Soul Travelling has always been a great choice for selecting locally curated tours. Had an amazing opportunity to be part of the 'Saligao Passai'. Our hosts were pretty informative and gave us local insights. Every minute detail was taken care of. We were lucky to experience the amazing architectural structure of the church during the day and it's beautiful glow in the evening.

Saligao -a fun and interesting trail

I went for this walk on World Tourism Day.I arrived at the Saligao Church named Mae de Deus and joined the fun group of Soul Traveling lead by Adolfina and Clyde who were very enthusiastic and good sports. Adolfina,who was full of stories and interesting facts took us around pointing to various parts of the church.She even had a fun game for us to get to know each other,which made walking together all the more lively!Clyde was obliging ,taking pictures of the group and regaling us with interesting anecdotes. We then made our way down to the village passing through many interesting sights like the village cemetery, dhobi area,the Rackon stone and many others. We then visited a lovely age old manor and the owner Alice was kind enough to let us into her home and show us around .A lot of us left with plant cuttings too. The evening ended with some delicious local snacks that Soul Traveling provided . All in all an evening well spent. Bonus -Saligao is supposed to be one of the most haunted villages in Goa.So ,if you like me enjoy some ghostly tales this is definitely the trail to take.

Well-organised and scenic walk

The walk was well-organised and I learnt a lot about Saligao. We went from the Mae de Deus church to the cemetery road, a 150-year old dilapidated house and a 107-year old Goan bungalow. Each part of the walk was enriching and the scenery was uff, mind-blowing! Adolphina and Clyde were great guides. I only wish they had provided snacks in a more sustainable manner (reusable containers, biodegradable cups). Hope to do more Soul Travelling!

A Must-Do Serene Village Walk when in Goa!

Exploring Goa with Soul Travelling truly, deeply connects one to their Soul. Saligao Passai walk being my fourth trail with them, not only this tour, but every trail has been a liberating experience . For the second time I was hanging out with Adolfina Thamm who was the ambassador for this particular trail. Mark my words, you will enjoy every moment exploring this quaint village if Adolfina is accompanying you because apart from the history centered around the trail which she definitely will be sharing with you, its her botany knowledge that is pearls of wisdom! Flora and fauna disinterests me a lot but Adolfina made it super interesting, especially when she shared Bougainvillea's story and gave natural Tamarind flower for me to taste . Saligaon Walk is an incredibly serene village walk wherein your eyes will capture the beautiful green umbrella/canopy of tall coconut trees, the Dhobi culture, portuguese colorful houses with eye-catching oyster shell windows (P.S. don't forget to listen to stories about soldiers with different salute styles), the abandoned haunted house . The cherry on top of this trail is visit to the Madame Rosa colonial property for high tea. A beautiful home that straightaway transports you to a Heritage home in Spain! The Lemongrass Tea freshly made by Rekha Tai is the most amazing Tea I have tasted. . Thank You So Much Soul Travelling for starting this commendable and offbeat venture to explore unseen Goa and sharing stories and sights of "The real Goa" with us!

Saligao : Away from the crowds

The peaceful village is a revealation. Nice saunter through the village with Joshua giving us an in-depth tour with lots of stories and fun facts. Soul travelling is doing an amazing job bringing the culture of Goa to all of us. Would recommend to all to see the other part of Goa, different from the beach and parties.

Serious Village Vibes

For the longest of time I have been fascinated with the quaint villages of Goa. Assagao, Parra, Torda and now the new addition of Saligao. The Star of the whole walk was our humble, knowledgeable and very hospitable Host Master Joshua...... For those reading this. You have to try out this trail with Soul. Let me first mention that they are doing an amazing job. Although I feel this is a tour for only the traveler that's hungry for the lil village things. Some of the highlights that I experienced was the stories/superstitions of the village, the oyester she'll windows, the really cute church, the houses and it's people, the flora and fauna and the tea at this crazy old house with crazy valuable items belonging to a family called the Vazzes. I really loved it. You should try it!!

Brilliant, surreal , full of stories , interesting

Had a great great surreal experience with Joshua ❤️ The walk was full of stories, history of the village, ppl and Joshua - from soul traveling was so amazing! Very well spoken , great story teller , lovely guy ! Must must must check out soul traveling when in goa next. They doing a great job in giving an offbeat goa experience! Cheeeerssssss

Stories of saligao

If you want to spend an afternoon beyond beaches and pubs in North Goa, this is one such trail for you. The pristine landscape, wide lush rice fields, the coconut lanes and the amazing Stories would take you to a different era. The slow life and the old houses do give you the charm of the Malgudi Days but with Portuguese influence. Our host Adolfina played the pivotal role in making the trail worthwhile. Her vast knowledge about architecture, culture and most importantly her know about flora and fauna amazed us during the trail. She is an excellent storyteller and also knows every nook and corner of the village. She was sweet enough to feed us raw cashews by a unique technique. Overall, if you want Instagram worthy photos and along with a slice of Goan culture, you should definitely go for Saligao pasai trail.

A Village Walk Like None Other

After having completed the Latin Quarters trail a few days back, it was time for us to hit the village trail. Adolfina, our guide for the day, is a local but having an excellent wide view of world history, culture, cuisine, art and architecture. The trail starts at the famous MDD church of Saligaon where Adolfina regaled us with an eclectic mix of stories, fables, history and architecture. We moved on with the trail covering one interesting part after another. The village ‘Rakandar’ stone with all its associated folklore will continue to stay with us forever! Saligaon also is a very green stretch of land with a variety of indigenous plants and trees. Adolfina also is an expert of plant based traditional medicine and all through the walk she explained the interesting features of one tree after another. The walk takes you to the inside of this beautiful village with a host of lovely Casas from the past. Adolfina is a neighbourhood friend in these areas and everyone was waving to her or exchanging a friendly chat. She could take us inside two different mansions and these visits were perhaps the ‘pièce de résistance’ of the entire experience. It was almost like a time travel to the rich history of past. Soul Travelling is doing a terrific job in helping people understand Goa much beyond the sea n sand. Everyone interested in these aspects must experience these fabulous walks arranged by the ST Team.

Learning in combination with fun is wonderful

I loved the experience. Ma'am Adolfina was by Indian Classical Dance teacher in Lourdes Convent High School Saligao. I had a bad history with her but this trail change by outlook towards her completely. Being a Saligaonkar I learner a lot of things I didnt know about my village. It was not only a trail with history but also learning botany and the uses of different traditional plants to treat diseases which also I didn't know. Soulful indeed

Had travelled to Goa three times before this year. But had spent most of the time on beaches and exploring food. This time when I discovered Soul Travelling on Instagram, I got completely hooked on to the another side of Goa that has much more to offer beyond beaches and hence we decided to explore it through the Soul Travelling this time. And I must say that wandering in the alleys of Saligao was a rewarding experience. Architecture, houses, local stories, trees, food - everything offered a new tale and Adolfina who led the walk made it enriching by understanding each of the participant's interest while sharing amazing stories and answering all our queries. Looking forward to visiting Goa again and that would now definitely include a walk with the Soul Travelling.

Fantastic

We had a delightful experience walking through Saligao with Adolfina. Her knowledge of the village, it’s people and the history of the place is immense. It was like taking a walk with a friend to enjoy a page of history. We saw some beautiful old homes with exquisite oyster shell windows, that were so exquisite. We also went mulberry picking 😊. It was such fun and the mulberries were delicious. We ended the walk with tea at one of the historic homes in Saligao. We thank Soul Travelling and the owners of Madame Rosa for making that happen. The delicious tea and snacks were a wonderful way to end the trip. Adolfina made this whole experience interactive and fun. I would highly recommend the tour and Adolfina to all who want to have a taste of the real Goa.

In the wilderness

For people with time on them/ interested in experiencing ancient carvings and interested in an of beat experience in the wilderness of nature should opt for this. Zahur was the ambassador for the visit who with his charming self made the trip a very easy going one with no rush at all. Certain administrative suggestions would be to fill up your fuel tanks and carry warm clothes if travelling by Scooty in the morning.
