A Unique House Tour with a lot of detail and history

The houses covered in the tour were beautiful and filled with artefacts. It was amazing to have our guide, Jaden, a local who was super enthusiastic in telling us the stories behind each house, the architectural styles and the stories behind the history. Each house was unique and had its own character and charm. Highly recommend taking the tour!

Highly recommend Houses of Chandor

The houses were extremely beautiful, and we got to see a side of Goa and hear stories about its interesting history that we hadn't before. Our guide - Jaden was exceptionally warm, knowledgeable and fun! He peppered history and architecture with interesting geographical facts too - making it super informative. Highly recommend!

A must do experience, totally worth it.

One of the main purpose of visiting Goa this time was to get an understanding of its rich culture heritage. So glad we booked the "Houses of Goa" experience with Soul Travelling. The booking experience and service before the day of the tour was well-organised thanks to Kajal, Pankaj and Varun. It was truly a niche experience that helps you see both the past and the present in one frame. We visited houses that once were grandiose, but now struggle to keep up the same appearance in the passage of time. As a part of the tour we also got a glimpse of a lot of hidden secrets which was a great touch. We were also able to get the most out of this experience because of our guide Frazer, being a true local he was able to shared his wealth of knowledge with us. He did a fantastic job answering questions and also shed light on additional information relating to the discussion. Overall, it was a great experience. Even though we had a Goan-Catholic upbringing, this tour was an eye-opener to us in many aspects. The inter-religious and inter-caste elements that were introduced to us were so valuable in shaping our perspectives towards the entire Goan culture on the whole.

The whole experience in Goa's first capital was absolutely fantastic. The Soul Travelling ambassador - Frazer definitely had us hooked at every point of the tour. And of course be ready for few fun questions during the tour to your way for you to scratch your head.

Houses,stories,nuggets of Goa

Stories can be told by anyone. Literally any person can just memorize lines and narrate it like a well oiled machine. But that wasn't and isn't the case with the ambassador for the day, that is Mr Frazer Andrade. If the saying "stories are as good as the people who tell them" true, then it was certainly the case today as Frazer just left me in awe with the rich knowledge that he possesses not only about Goa but also about the art and architecture of the tropical state. Not to mention the Houses starting from the Braganza house and the Fernandes house; wonderful to finally visit these places after wanting to experience them for the better part of 20 years. Wonderful trail with a lot of lovely elements and to top it off with the poha and samosa at flames was a cherry on what was a delight of a day. Thankyou soul travelling!!!!!!

It was a fantastic trip and I am really glad that we chose Soul Travelling, as the expert who conducted the tour was so good, passionate and full of exuberance, which added to the whole touring experience much value.

A wonderful experience in Chandor

Being a kid I always wondered how beautiful the indo Portuguese houses must be and finally got a chance to go on a trail and experience it. It was a beautiful experience indeed. And our host Pankaj made it more exciting for us. Houses of Goa trail is one of the most beautiful trail one could experience.

A good experience - Will like to try it one more time

A beautiful way to showcase a village that has lost its identity - I missed a few valuable places as I reached late - But Pankaj was more than welcoming to show me whatever I could in the little time I had. Nevertheless a few recommendation - The house is ancient but the aura of the place was sad - I wish a beautiful story could have been woven around the artefacts and the various important historic moments - I did not find Rajeev the right person to tell a tale of that calibre. The lighting of the house did not assist them either We were late to reach the river and I would appreciated if Pankaj would have carried a strong torch to aid our visuals of the beauty of the walk way and the coconut trees. This was my first trail and I know it's just the beginning - Overall I will give a 3.5/ 5 for this trail. The team is great and carry the value of Soul travellers to their heart. Looking forward to the next trail

Very fascinating history and beautiful houses!

Amazing tour. Our guide Frazer was very knowledgeable and well-spoken. He covers the history of Chandor and then walks you through the beautiful Braganza-Perreira Goan mansion. Definitely worth trying.

Goan heritage through passionate eyes

Absolutely loved our time with Frazer! His wealth of knowledge was so vast, he speaks from his passion so it’s super engaging learnt so many things I didn’t know about old houses and important building in Goa. The snack was super yummy and we even got to appreciate Frazer’s singing talent.

Offbeat experience with local food and amazing hosts

We had an amazing time! There were some interesting stories and off best experiences.. host was amazing and sweetly sang a local song for us! The tour ended with yummy local Goan food and some drinks.. added cherry on the top! Highly recommend this one

Discovered a beautiful side of Goa

I have always been fascinated by heritage houses & have been a sucker for hidtorical stories. So needless to say, Houses of Goa Chandor Trail was very high on my Goa bucketlist. Yes, beaches and all I love but I love Goa more for the amazing historical places & how culturally rich the smallest state of our country is! Frazer was our Ambassador for this tour & he did a fantastic job in telling the stories behind the heritage houses which are all a couple of centuries old. Not just about the houses but also about the stories of Chandor, the local celebrations, & so much more! The trail lasts for around 3 hours and gives you the opportunity to even connect with the residents of these old houses who then show you around. They also give you some local snacks, another amazing local touch which I love about the trail experiences offered by Soul Travelling. A big shotout to Soul Travelling for these wonderful experience.

We visited Chandor with Jade and he was just fabulous. The houses are national treasures and a must visit. The owners of the houses were very welcoming too. Overall would highly recommend Soul Travelling and Jade for making our trip memorable!

A great time with Soul Travelling

The trail was honestly amazing. Loved meeting new people and checking out a different side of Chandor . Our ambassador Jadon was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He kept us all entertained with all the stories and legends about the village. The houses are truly a site to see. They carry so many stories and different cultures. Taking us back in time

Trails by Soul Travelling are always the best! This is my second trail with them. Whenever you attend a trail with them it takes you back in time and gives you a different perspective about the place! Loved it! Great experience at Chandor

My first trip with Soul Travelling to Goa. The trip was very nice experience for our family to understand the Portuguese culture and old Kadamba dynasty and its influence on the old capital of Goa. Ryan our guide for the day made the history alive by sharing historical nuggets and significance of each of the places we visited in the Chandor. The Royal Braganza-Pierrera house was huge and magnificent with all the old grandeur intact. The family member was gracious enough to explain all the details of each room : may be the Italian furniture, Belgium glass, curved ceilings, massive glass chandeliers, old ancestral photos, banquet halls, cutlery, wooden dining tables, bedrooms, way the family lived in olden days and much more. Ryan our guide was enthusiastic and very helpful throughout the trip. We also enjoyed the delectable traditional Goan sweets like “patoodi , sweet poha ” towards the end of the trail. One feedback is for the second house we visited which was way too stuffed and congested inside with river / rainwater smell throughout the house. The furniture is old and not maintained at all.. making the experience not as great as the first house we visited. All in all: great trip to Chandor and would recommend everyone to explore this place. Thanks to our passionate guide: Ryan who really made the experience interesting for us…His storytelling kept us engaged and entertained throughout the tour, creating an unforgettable experience. Time stands captured!

One of the highlights of this goa visit of ours... sashaying into this throw back era place called chandor. The dreamy place came alive with Frazer, our guide for the day, throwing in historical nuggets dating back to the Bhojas and kadambas and following it thru upto the Portuguese take over. The stately Braganza house, erstwhile what we assume was a grand home once of the Fernandes's, ruins of what was once a temple..all made for an engaging morning. If the other activities promise to be as engaging, we shall be back for more in our next visit.

Learnt a lot

The grand old houses with antique instruments and art works were amazing. They represented the complex nature of Goan political history. Jaden was a cool ambassador. He took us around and was patient in answering our queries. Chandor is quite a town to explore.

Enjoying Goa’s rich heritage

Essentially me and my family were captivated by the stories and insightful information about the significance of Indo Portuguese architecture designs which was shared to us by our trail ambassador Frazer Andrade. The best part about today’s experience was the wealth of knowledge shared so passionately by Frazer. I loved the sweet end to the trail with some Goan snacks like Alle Belle’s, it felt like the cherry on the cake. I highly recommend this trail.

Firstly, I loved how the exhibits/artifacts are well preserved and maintained by the owners showing that they hold sentimental value as well. Secondly, the impeccable knowledge that I've gained from Jaden is priceless. I really loved how he was passionate while explaining every detail .He's really amazing and friendly . Thirdly, Mr &Mrs Patil were really hospitable and the food prepared by them was delicious.

A fantastic tour!

We opted for the Soul Travelling tour towards the end of June '23.It was one of the best experiences we've had. Pros: 1. The tour guides (Frazer and Jadon) were very knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had (we had 1000+ :D). They made history come alive. Their knowledge was not just limited to the tour but it covered so many other aspects. 2. We visited the heritage houses and had unique insights about them giving us glimpses into the past. 3. The Goa Rains 4. The local food treat at Flames Cons: Absolutely none! Places visited: The Braganza house The Fernandas House The Chandor Church The St Tiago Chapel The Kadamba Temple The Flames cafe I would recommend this tour if you truly want to learn more about Goa and it's glorious past.

The most Soulful walk :)

Our lil group was magically taken back in time by Frazer Andrade. He was the most informative and resourceful guide and we really could not have any a better experience. There was so so much to learn and take back from the experience with him- more so because he also elevated the experience with his banter interspersed with his own experiences. Highly recommend this walk if you want to learn a thing or two (or 100 :P) about the culture, history and traditions of the once capital of Goa, and about Christian art of all forms. Highly recommend soul travelling and even more highly recommended having Frazer lead it :) We had the best best time.

Fantastic experience of the Goa of yore

For anyone wanting to know more about the history of Goa before the Portuguese, this experience is a must. We were fortunate to have the repository of knowledge and passion Frazer Andrade brought to this trail organised by Soul Travelling. Accompanied along with Jaden Baretto the two made a formidable pair, with their passion for Goan history and exemplary Goan hospitality. The trail itself was truly a treat, with a visit to two heritage Indo-Portuguese houses which are steeped in history. That alongside the architectural marvels of the Chandor church and the temple relics, made this a memorable visit for us. Truly a treat for history and culture aficionados.

Experiential Storytelling

Pankaj (ambassador from Soul travel) made sure that me and my friend have a real fun, intriguing experience in his own village of Chandor. The stories about the curse, the houses of Goa and elements within the house, very human aspect of the people living within those huge historically significant homes; and wait stories and reasoning behind the food served to us during breakfast! It was all so worth it. I was born and brought up in Goa and I work in Bangalore now, but even I was unaware about these tales from my own state! It was definitely a deep dive and one that I’ll be in hunt of during my next visits to Goa. I suggest the visitors to be eager to learn, discover and ask the right questions to extract more from these guys. Cheers to Soul travel!

Greatly curated trail

Knowledgeable, hollistic, cohesive exploration of the region with some interesting stories about the town and access to some rare places. Kudos to Pankaj for making it accessible to us on a short notice.

Nicely curated experience with great value for money

We organised 2 faces of Goa along with rivona caves trio with our 10 colleagues. We had an amazing experience with lot's of fun and knowledge. Our tour ambassador jagrut, pankaj and Fraser were great asset to soul traveling team. Well done team. Kudos to kedar and varun.

Sunday jaunt at Curdi

Had the most wonderful experience on the Curdi trail. The ambassadors worth mentioning were Panjaj, who regaled us with his stories, Jaden, who had all the specifics of the terrain na dother details, Jagrut, the curator par excellence of this unique trail in Curdi. And Cynthi, who co-ordinated it all. These are a bunch of raring to go, young people, so dedicated on their work of uncovering the little known aspects of Goa. They were mindful of the smallest details by way of comfort and constantly checking in on everyone. This aspect really didn't miss my eye. The trail itself is unique, with some very engaging people along the way...the breakfast stop at Flames run by Bina Fernandes was a lovely way to jump start the day. This wasn't my first time with Soul Travelling and certainly not the last. These guys are the true culture keepers of Goa. Kudos to them

Must visit in goa

The process was soo smooth. The team was really helpful and quick. Pretty professional as well. Coming to goa seemed to be lost for 2 days but joining this trail today made me feel so good and productive. It was more like putting money but for such fun and amazing knowledge. The cafe we went to was just pretty. Never have I ever seen such a pretty cafe or vibe in Mumbai ever tho being in a travel and restaurant industry. Would suggest to explore with them instead of just giving out the name of it. And our tour guide PANKAJ. HE WAS JUST AMAZING. KNOW IT ALL GUY. KNEW WHERE HE IS WALKIING, TALKING ABOUT. THE CULTURE THE RESPECT. IT WAS JUST PERFECT FOR ME AND MY MOM. SOUL TRAVELLING YOU GUYS AMAZED ME. A Must Try Experience in Chandor.

A must try experience in South Goa for anyone interested in Goan Architecture and Goan History. Frazer and Pankaj are Rockstars in the making. Spent 3 hours in beautiful authentic Goan Catholic Homes. Hats off to Jagrut for laying a strong foundation in Chandor.
