Chamonix Mont-Blanc Full Day Guided Tour

The crown jewel of our European vacation!

We spent 16 days in Europe on our family vacation this year. We spent seven days in Italy, two in Switzerland, five in France, and two in the UK. This tour and day was, without a doubt, the absolute best day of our vacation. First off, I can't say enough good about Niels, our tour guide. We had one of the worst tour guides we've ever had for our tour of the Vatican city a few days earlier; Niels was the opposite of all of that. He was personable, funny, full of trivia, and a great storyteller. Plus, he can tell those stories in four different languages. He had some excellent local suggestions when we had free time in Chamonix over lunch. We were all very impressed with him. It was very easy to book and very easy to find the bus. The drive from Geneva to Chamonix was probably the prettiest drive I've ever been on. The town itself literally looked like a postcard from "Alpine Heaven." I turned 51 a few days after returning from our vacation, and I honestly thought that I would die without ever seeing the Alps in person. And boy, do they have to be seen to be believed! The majesty and beauty, both from the bottom of the valley and the top of Aguillle-du-Midi, are absolutely breathtaking. I would highly suggest that if you are booking, you get the entire package. The top of the mountain was insanely gorgeous, and the cog railway and glacier tour were experiences not to be missed! The whole day is done and you are back in Geneva by 6:30 or so, with plenty of time for dinner. I very strongly recommend this tour. It was the best day on a trip filled with great days.

Niels was great!

Beauty day in Chamonix. Didn’t know quite what to expect taking the cable car up the mountain, but WOW! Niels was a wonderful guide. Informative, fun and flexible. We thoroughly enjoyed him, the group and the location.

Top notch tour and tour guide...

Niels was the most amazing Tour Guide. The tour is very well thought out and Niels was on hand all the time to answer questions and checking in with us to make sure we were okay. Chamonix was delightful and the trip up the mountain to Aiguille du Midi was sublime and then taking the cog train and visiiting the ice caves. I would definitely recommend this tour. It is well worth the price and your time. A truly memorable day out.

Beautiful scenery

This tour was amazing. The day was so well organized and it went very smoothly. Chamonix is so beautiful and we had the perfect amount of time to eat and look around before heading to the glacier. Neils gave us so many good recommendations for Geneva, Chamonix and a lot of interesting history as well throughout the day! He was a wonderful guide. The views on the mountain were stunning and the ice cave was so cool to walk around in! Overall a great (but somewhat long) day!! Highly recommend!

Best tour ever!!

We love, love, loved this trip. Our tour guide Neil was so knowledgeable about the area, the history and he’s multi lingual!! We loved riding the gondola to the top of the mountain, had plenty of time for lunch and enjoyed the cog rail ride to the glacier. This is an A+ trip!!

Mountain views and clear fresh air with interesting tour in ice caves.

The views were magnificent and the guide informative and helpful. Even though the cable car was closed due to high winds he stayed buoyant and offered a refund for the cable car without quibbles. Nevertheless we went on a cog wheel train and a gondola (like a small cable car) during our trip. Excellent lunch in Chamonix.

Unforgettable trip; a must-do if you have a spare day in Geneva.

After reading the other reviews of this trip, I became intrigued about Niels (the guide mentioned in every review), and he turned out to be much better than any review can describe. He speaks plenty of languages and knows a lot about the place and its history, and his only shortcoming is that he cannot control the weather in Chamonix and Mont Blanc. Our group was not fortunate enough to make it to the Aiguille de Midi due to the high winds up there (oh yes, the cost of that activity was refunded). Anyway, Niels came up with a Plan B, and we avoided waiting for better weather (it would have been in vain) and went on to other activities, which were amazing. So, perhaps next time; and I will make sure to book the tour with Niels again.

Niels was, hands down, the best tour guide we’ve ever had in our various global travels. He is high energy, keeps the tour the right size to allow everyone to hear, ask questions and be an active participant in the tour! There wasn’t anything else we were left wishing we’d seen or spent time doing and we really felt like Niels took personal responsibility in ensuring we each had the best time we could. The area is breath taking and you should make the time to see and enjoy this gorgeous area! If we, someday, come back to Geneva, we will search out another tour with Niels because we know it’ll be worth our while to do it!

An amazing day - this is a must do tour.

An absolutely awesome experience from start to finish, would highly recommend. We spent the day on the tour with Niels and it is a day that our family won’t ever forget. We are visiting Geneva from the US and a family of 4 (children 10 & 12). Niels is friendly, entertaining and informative throughout the day. Still amazed that he speaks 4 languages! If you are looking to fill a day while in Geneva, see once in a lifetime sights and have a great guide to handle all the details, this is your trip. Some of the best money we could have spent.

Unbelievable tour with once in a lifetime views! Our tour guide, Neils, was phenomenal and likely in part because he could speak to his own personal experience in Chamonix. This tour is well worth the money.

Amazing views !

Highly recommend ! Niels was great! Amazing views from the top - adequate time for viewing at the top as well as in Chamonix. The glacier was closed - we were promised refund for it. We were taken to a nearby lake/park instead which was quite beautiful.

A very enjoyable trip made into an outstanding one by our tour guide Niels.Unfortunately the weather was not on our side to complete the Aiguille du Midi but he ensured that we had a wonderful day in beautiful Chamonix. A beautiful day in Chamonix

A highlight of our day trip to Chamonix from Geneva was Niels, who is a fantastic guide. Charming, knowledgable, and funny, he truly made the experience enjoyable for us. Unfortunately, weather (strong winds) precluded us from enjoying the Aiguille de Midi and Mer de Glace, but who cares? We filled the day with a walking tour of Chamonix, some shopping, a delicious lunch at Rose du Pont, and a walk around Lac des Gaillands. We saw an ibex on a rock face, people-watched, and absorbed the sights, sounds, and smells of a beautiful place that we had never been. A truly worthy experience, and one that we would repeat (with hopes the winds would be gentler).

A good tour but would be mindful of booking again.

After booking through viator for an excursion that I thought included everything apart from lunch. I was a little disappointed and felt mislead by the marketing and advertising of the tour. I thought the tour included a pass on the train and Mont Blanc, to be told when I arrived I only booked the basic package. It is very misleading and I was a little annoyed that they don’t make this clear when you book. It felt like it was trying to catch people out, and a few others in the group felt the same. It put a dampener on the day, The fine print is not very clear and should include the full price of £220 when you book and not just £90. The tour guides Niel and Zach were excellent! Friendly and gave you a lot of information and history very good. It was a little disappointing that we couldn’t go up to Mont Blanc because of the weather, however they did take us to a different mountain which was just as cool. I do personally think you should not just advertise the basic excursion as you can book a bus for 3/4 cheaper than the mini bus.

Niels was an awesome guide! Very knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us recommendations to other places we're visiting and he was very patient. Chamonix was beautiful! Be ready for some serious altitude change.

Best way to see Chamonix!

Overall, this trip was fantastic. Neil was an excellent tour guide with a strong knowledge of chamonix and all of what it has to offer. Mt Blanc was incredible and going inside a glacier was truly special. Chamonix is a lovely town with delicious food and some of the best coffee I’ve had! Our group size was 12, so it wasn’t too big, and Neil made it personal and kept us all in one group. Tom was also a great driver. Absolutely recommend this tour over any other similar offering.

Amazing tour

When you love what you do for work, it will show naturally without even trying. This in a nutshell is what we experienced as tour guests of Niels. He is a very knowledgeable tour guide who would enthusiastically answer all the questions thrown at him. The hanging glass case and the tour inside the ice tunnel is a once in a lifetime experience that must not be missed.

Best tour in Geneva!

Niels was the best guide! He clearly loves the mountains and the history and spent time making sure our group and even others not in our group were safe. He made sure our small group got the best experience by checking the weather and switching up the order of the tour so we could experience all of it.

Highlight of our trip to Geneva

A truly amazing day, four of us travelled, a total group of eight. Our tour operator and guide, Nials, was excellent, very knowledgeable, great rapport with clients. Pick up points, timings excellent. It was certainly our highlight of a long weekend in Geneva. Don't hesitate choosing this tour, value for money, personal service, you won't regret.

My husband and I had a great time! Niels was great. Weather can be challenging on the mountain and he did a good job at working around schedule delays on the cable car.

Magical day in Chamonix and Mount Blanc area.

We had an informative and really unbelievably fantastic full-day tour of Chamonix and the Mont-Blanc area with Niels. Every aspect of the tour was top-notch. The meeting location was easy, driving to Chamonix with Niels at the helm of his van was easy. He had plenty of information to fill the hour or so drive. Then, arriving at Chamonix and experiencing the various activities - tram high up the mountain, coffee and hot cocoa in a cute rustic cafe atop the mountain, relaxed lunch in Chamonix, mountain train to a separate Glacier area.. There was plenty of time to see everything we wished to see. Niels was a delightful tour guide who provided fascinating information about all sorts of matters, including not only fascinating information about the history of the Chamonix ski area, information about the surrounding mountain environment, but also discussion about day-to-day life in Chamonix and Geneva and so much more. Niels was ready to discuss any questions the group had. He keeps each tour group at 8 (or thereabouts), which was the perfect size to get around and to have meaningful discussions about what we were viewing. It was a delightful, magical day. I would highly recommend Niels' Chamonix Mont-Blanc Full Day Tour.

A day to remember in the heights of the Alps.

We absolutely loved this day trip. Amazing guide, with views and experiences that we will remember for ever! Highly recommended. Totally mind blowing scenery.

Operator (Niels) cancelled the trip for no reason the eve before

Before I start, I didn’t get a chance to go on this trip. The main reason why I booked this trip instead of a cheaper one with a bigger operator was because it seemed more personalised. Three days prior to the trip I contacted the operator to discuss about the weather because I had concerns about it to wish he replied that it was too early and irrespective of that other gondolas would be available. The evening before the trip he tells me that the weathers bad and he’s gonna cancel it, which was very shocking for me. But I appreciate viator for processing a full refund which I hopefully get soon. So on the the day of the trip I individually book a coach, tickets to aiguille du midi and Montenvers. Besides the final cable car at aiguille du midi EVERYTHING ELSE WAS VERY MUCH FUNCTIONAL and I’ll tell you what the sky was actually 70% clear from 9am to 12pm. It was very disappointing that I had to go through all that because of the last minute cancellation. If all the activities had to be closed I totally get it but no they weren’t. I was very excited for this operator and I didn’t want my vacation to be ruined because of his cancellation. PS: I’ve attached photos of Chamonix

Amazing experience. Fantastic guide.

Amazing experience with Niels. He was transparent from the beginning. Even though the cable car to the top of Montblanc wasn't functioning, he found us an amazing alternative. He was well prepared and a pleasure to speak to. Extremely knowledgeable and his passion was visible. Just regret not going for the chocolate factory tours with him. The size of the group was small(8 in our case) and he paid a lot of attention to us and answered all the queries with a smile. Such a pleasure the entire trip was. One of the best tours we had in all of Europe.

Fantastic day! Nils was an engaging host who made each person feel special. He provided a flexible itinerary to allow for the realities of weather which allowed us to have the best chance to ride the gondola while enjoying nature and Chamonix both. His love for the mountain and nature came through every minute of the day. He was able to make both Spanish and English speakers comfortable, learning and engaged. Would highly, highly recommend !! We had a wonderful experience. Niels was our guide and his knowledge made the tour so much better. He stayed with us throughout the day and made sure we got the best photo opportunities and the best views. He communicated well with us as we first thought the weather was going to be an issue. Chamonix - Mont Blanc

We just had an amazing day with Niels visiting Chamonix and Mont Blanc. Niels is extremely knowledgeable, attentive, fun to be with- easily the best guide you will ever have. Our family is from 13 years to 75 years - he looked after everyone and all enjoyed the day. Not all guides were with their groups all day, but Niels is with you all the time and that makes a huge difference. Could not recommend him enough
