K'gari (Fraser Island) Explorer 2-Day Tour

Amazing experience, stunning scenery…

Enjoyed every moment of this tour. It was well paced with plenty of time to enjoy all the attractions. Our guide David was fun, friendly and informative. There were a variety of different activities, bush walks, swimming in both salt and fresh water, walking massive sand dunes and generally taking in all that nature has to offer. Everything ran very smoothly, we were kept informed of all the activities we would be undertaking and how long we would have at each destination. Every staff member we encountered was courteous and helpful. The optional flight from the beach, which we weren’t originally going to do, turned out to be a highlight and I would thoroughly recommend. I would say the only thing that was somewhat of a let down was some of the food. I was really looking forward to the picnic on the second day but it turned out to be a pre made salad roll and juice, a bit lacking in imagination.

Great value and well organised tour

Great experience, the tour sites were varied and some involved walks of 1 - 5 km return. Dingos along the coast and whales off the coast were spotted. David our guide was fantastic and participated in all activities and joined us for dinner as well

Amazing K’gari

Wonderful!

Would recommend this unreservedly! Every aspect of the trip ran smoothly from booking to set down at the Marina at the end of the trip. Driving along the spectacular 75 mile beach was unforgettable and the tour took in all the sites. We spent the right amount of time at each place to really explore and enjoy it. Our guide and driver Blair was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. He thoughtfully suggested return trip to Eli creek on the second day when it was sunnier and people could really enjoy floating down. Another highlight was finding a plane waiting on the beach to take those that wanted to on a stunning 15 minute flight across the sea and inland K’gari. A never to be forgotten trip - just wonderful.

Definitely worth doing

The tour organisation was excellent; pickup, ferry, 4WD bus on K'gari, meals, stops, information, swims, the drives ... all wonderful. There are a lot of elements that go to make this tour, and most worked really well. Maybe make it clearer that the walk into Lake Wabby is not just 5km round trip, taking about 35 minutes each way, but that it's a sometimes steep walk - testing the fitness of most older people at least. There's no doubt that the island is unique and amazing.

Great trip

A fantastic 2 day tour - K’gari is spectacular and the tour guides made the trip extra special. Keith drove us over from Rainbow Beach and then Andrew took us on the 2 day tour - both guides were very personable, had great knowledge of the island and made sure we had a great time. Good value for money, accommodation and food were good. Would definitely recommend.

Great way to see K'Gari

Very enjoyable trip with a good guide (David) who went out of his way to make everyone comfortable and provided lots of information about the island and the places we visited. Saw lots of the famous K'gari dingoes and the trip met all my expectations.

Just fantastic

Our 2 days at K'gari were amazing! We've got to see so many beautiful spots. Our guide Kurt was fantastic. He was very passionate about teaching us all the things we wanted to know about the island, trees and animals. The ride in the bus on the beach was also a really great experience. Fantastic trip

A visit to paradise in 2 days - Kˋgari!

From Rainbow Beach we went on a 2 day tour to Fraser Island which started perfectly on time and directly from our Hotel (Debbie’s Place). Keith welcomed us very warmly on his Bus and made the journey very pleasant by sharing good information with an excellent sense of humor and by playing very nice and cool music. After a good coffee at the Beach Resort we went to Lake McKenzie where the 2-day tour guests changed bus - which gave an extra hour for swimming in the clear waters of the lake - absolutely beautiful. Our new guide Dave was also an absolute stunning source of information. On our way to the different spots we learned a lot about the island, the history and the wildlife. Despite the rainy weather on day one we could really see all highlights and day 2 with much more sunshine was absolutely fantastic. Our personal favorite of all was the scenic flight with Air Fraser - a 15 Min hop over the island with take off and landing directly on the beach - unforgettable! The whole trip was very well organized, the guides were true professionals, keeping us on plan throughout the 2 days. Thanks Dave for all the information, and thanks Keith for the short 2 entertaining transfers from and to Rainbow beach.

Family Fun

Whole family had a great time. There were only 17 on our tour including the four of us. Teen kids had a great time. Pick up and transfer to the island all straightforward and the bus driven by Guy was comfortable and fun. Lots of opportunity to stop and see things and get our gear. Guy was very knowledgeable about the island and had heaps of great stories. We saw lots of dingos. Blissful just being able to sit and enjoy the experience instead of driving, navigating and all that . Morning tea and lunches were enjoyable . The resort on the east side of the island was well appointed and the restaurant food was pretty good, though the dinner meals took 50min to come out. Coffee from the bar is recommend as the bakery and shop was bad. Our two bedroom apartment was recently renovated and the balcony view was glorious at sunset. Would highly recommend this tour and do again if given the opportunity. It was a bit cool and drizzly, but still so many great things to see and I think the weather after two long weekends had kept the crowds away.

Fantastic value for money

Would highly recommend doing this 2-day tour! The island is beautiful and has so much to offer. The tour takes you the best spots. Doing the 2-day tour means you see more and have longer at each place, for example 1.5 hours at the creek which was excellent! Andrew was a fantastic guide who made the whole thing far more enjoyable.

K’gari - stunning and sandy

This is an awesome tour and you get a good look at all the cool places and highlights of the island. Lots of opportunities for getting off the bus to walk, swim and explore. Our guides Andy and Kurt were awesome and made the two day trip really enjoyable. They are great hosts, and gave us heaps of information about the history, geology, wildlife and culture. The bus was comfortable, good food, the hotel was clean and spacious. Nice pool. Loved it.

Fantastic Tour!

I would absolutely recommend this tour. It was very well organised. I would say you see pretty much all of the important spots of the island. Blair was the best guide!! He made the tour very special for our group. Definitely an experience I will never forget.

Great Experience on K’gari

Great once in a lifetime experience

Great experience! We had a wonderful two days and saw all the must see highlights this beautiful island has to offer. Hayden was a great guide and took care of everything.

Amazing experience with a superfriendly and knowledgeable guide

Amazing experience. Guy was waiting for us at the ferry and we immediately felt welcomed. He's a great guide, super knowledgeable and very friendly. The bus was comfortable and we had a great time. We were opting for a self drive or tag along first, but so glad we didn't do that. It may look fun at first, but the driving on K'gari is very challenging, so we were happy to have an experienced driver and guide. Guy managed to hook us up with a flight over the island with Air K'gari. Bonus to an already unforgettable trip!

We had a great guide in Guy! He led us through the tour with a lot of knowledge and fun. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and the food was good.

Great two days with Tour-Guide Hayden

The tour was amazing and Hayden was a fantastic guide - competent, funny and entertaining. He took us to all the beautiful spots on the island and we had enough time to enjoy and relax. We saw many dingos, a whale (which is unusual for this time of the year) and a 2m shark that was stranded on the beach. Thanks, Hayden, for these unforgettable two days.

Wonderful K’gari adventure

What a great way to explore the beautiful island of K’gari. Guy was a great guide and knew a lot about the culture and history of the island and made sure everyone had a lot of fun. He was even a champion and changed the tire of the bus in half an hour while managing to keep everyone safe and off the road. My only regret was that we didn’t spend more time at Lake Mackenzie. But now I know where to go when I return.

K’gari 2 day exploration.

It was amazing, we highly recommend the tour. Guy, our tour guide, was friendly, knowledgeable and awesome at changing tyres. We went to all the most popular tour places with plenty of time allocated to each spot without feeling rushed. Guy had so many stories and facts about the trees and the history of the island. We opted to include the scenic flight offered by Fraser air and it definitely enhanced the trip to view from a different perspective. We did everything and loved everything!

Amazing 2 Day/1 Night Adventure

Our 2-day K'gari/Fraser Island expedition was the highlight of our trip to Australia. First, let me say Mark was an incredible guide for our 2 day trip to K'gari. Their entire operation was extremely professional from the pickup to the final drop off. Mark took us to the major sites around K'gari. Each stop was very special and the amount of time was just right. I would highly recommend the extra scenic flight. It's well worth it. You can read about the intinerary details on their website, but I would just say this is a highly professional outfit and the experience is very unique. I would highly recommend this to younger and older folks.

A brilliant tour with a knowledgeable tour guide! We spent two amazing days being driven around K’Gari.

An unforgettable experience in Paradise! Mark, our tour guide, was full of knowledge about K’Gari. The tour itself had the perfect amount of activities included. There was plenty of food given. Would recommend this tour!

A well organised tour with very knowledgeable guides/drivers

Wonderful 2 days. Initially picked up at Rainbow Beach by Keith for our barge trip across to K’gari. A smooth trip across the short expanse of water from Inskip. Keith is full of information and quite garrulous. A 4wd bus trip along the beach then inland to Lake Mackenzie along a very lumpy road. Worth taking a dip or paddle at the freshwater lake - very refreshing. We changed bus and driver at the lake. Jean looked after us for the next 2 days He particularly encouraged safety in our group in relation to care around the dingoes and never walking alone or running -we felt very safe in Jean’s care. Plenty of information provided and questions answered. Visited some lovely places and walked 25000 steps on the first day into the rainforest across the dunes. A wonderful dip at the champagne pools and Eli Creek is offered on the last day - make sure you have your swimmers. The weather was perfect. Thank you Jean for escorting us through this unique Australian island

Best vacation ever!

Guy was our tour guide and he was amazing. Very knowledgeable about Faser island. This gave me a better appreciation for the land. He kept us safe with his positive attitude and telling us about what to look out for. Hotel and food was perfect. Over all a great experience!

A brilliant few days in K’gari - thanks David

We had the most amazing time (even in the rain)! Our tour guide and bus driver David was so friendly, professional and helpful and showed us the most incredible and beautiful spots on K’gari! The first resort we stayed at (Kingfishers) was beautiful with a lovely pool area, plenty of places to get food and drink, a shop and arcade, planned activities and plenty of beautiful areas to walk around. We had dinner in the Dune restaurant which was lovely then went on a walk around the resort to see the frogs! David then picked us up in the morning and explained what we would be doing for the next 2 days (which was very helpful as we had no information given to us by GetYourGuide who we had originally booked with). We went and swan in Lake McKenzie and then the champagne pools seeing lots of Dingos on the 75 mile beach along the way! We also stopped for a buffet style lunch in the second resort which we then stayed at that evening, it was an older resort with only one bar and restaurant, they could definitely do with more as they did seem to be struggling with the number of guests they had to serve, things were coming out very late and wrong. There is also a bakery and a shop at the resort which you can visit in the day time. The second day David picked us up again and we headed to lake Wobby which after a 45 minute walk (which was mostly on a path just a difficult sand dune at the end) was beautiful and green and full of fish and the occasional fresh water turtle. We then headed back to the resort for a picnic lunch (a sandwich, juice and apple) before heading out to see the shipwreck and then finishing the 2 day tour off with a float down Eli creek, which is like a natural lazy river to the sea! I couldn’t recommend the tour more and it was made all the more special by David he was fantastic and even put up with us running a little sing-song session on the way back to the resort from Eli Creek, he was great fun!

Packed two day tour with Dave

This two day tour was bought for us as a gift so we didn't really know what to expect. Very fast moving 2 days in a 4w drive bus! Dave our guide looked after us very well and gave lots of safety information etc. Remember to fasten your seat belt...very important . The roads are very rough and you will get thrown about a lot so be aware, especially you have any medical conditions . The itinerary changes according to tides etc but we visited Champagne Pools, Lake McKenzie, Central Station, Eli Creek,75 mile beach, ship wreck and 5 km return walk to Lake Wabby. We saw dingoes and also went on the optional 15 minutes plane trip from 75 mile beach ...well worth it if you get the chance. Buffet lunch one day and picnic lunch the other. No evening meal but the on site restaurant is good. The overnight accomodation was excellent . We are both getting on a bit but did still enjoy the tour. Recommend if you are in the area.

Fraser Island - literally Paradise!

We were picked up by Keith from our accommodation in Rainbow Beach and we knew instantly this tour was going to be fabulous!! Keith is a ray of sunshine, he had created a playlist for us and was as passionate with his music as he was about Fraser Island. Unfortunately we only had keith for the morning as we were transferring to another coach as 2 day guests 😢 Hayden had great knowledge about the island and adapted the tour to the weather which we appreciated. We loved loved loved this very special and unique island. Favourite things for us were Lake McKenzie and the sand dunes on the way to Lake Whabby, the wreck and driving at speed on the beach. We chose to take the 15 min plane flight over the island which was amazing. At the end of the day, it was fabulous to rejoin Keith again for our journey back to Rainbow and he greeted the 7 of us like long lost friends and that’s how he felt to us. He’s great fun, tells dad jokes and always has great tunes to listen to. This trip is fantastic, I’d recommended it to anyone and if Keith is your guide, you’d be very lucky.

An excellent couple of days exploring K'gari

K'gari 2-day tour

Blair was our tour guide for two days on the island. He was excellent - polite, engaged and got on well with all members of the group. A good sense of humour and very attentive to all our needs. Great tour experience seeing all the highlights of the island, definitely would recommend!

Wowee, beautiful island

Had a blast, Mark - the guide was very informative, knowledgeable and also a great laugh. We got to see all the sights available and spent plenty of time at each destination, we even did the additional fly over the island which is 100% worth it. Would highly recommend the 2 day tour to anyone!!

K’gari island wonderers

Keith and Martin were fantastic drivers, they were fun, informative and spoke with passion for the island which for me and my friend, made the trip incredibly special. The tour overall was effortless, refreshing and we saw some spectacular views! 10/10 trip, the food and accomodation at K’gari was a added bonus!

Amazing tour with great scenery and activities

We had Keith and Mark as our tour guides. Both were amazing and very informative about the island. Keith was very funny, jolly and could tell he loved his job which made our experience amazing. The island is beautiful and we got to visit many different places and definitely worth the money! We saw 5 Dingos and Mark made us feel safe around them and gave us good advice on how to deal with them safety. Had the best day and would recommend the 2 day tour!!

Fantastic experience and hospitality

Amazing tour that accommodated all of our diverse mobility needs. With 2 kids and a few people in our party who couldn’t walk too much everybody was well accommodated for and adjusted as needed to ensure everybody was entertained and comfortable. Our tour guide, Keith would make it easy for some to skip stops if they didn’t want to join (especially wabby lake which was the hardest walk) and helped drive the bus as close as possible along the creek for one member who doesn’t swim/get wet. We hit the highlights. Keith was fabulous at adjusting the timing of our stops and knowing when other tours were likely in various spots so worked to avoid other your buses. We also lucked out to be the only family on the tour so we effectively had a private family tour and by ourselves for most stops including lake Wabby! The Lake Wabby stop was magical and nothing like the first time I visited - Keith’s timing combined with low season made it so! Keith also ensured the safety of everybody when there were dingoes near the creek. Was also fun to see his whip skills on the beach for a fun stop. Bus was good and quite clean - especially considering we’re on a sand island! Food and snacks were good. The resort was nice however the smell from the public toilets was def a sore spot at the time. Hopefully that’s been fixed up by now. We were glad to have our own bathrooms back in our rooms. We caught the ferry from Rainbow Beach which was a great decision for us. If you do the same and want to cook any food on your own at Rainbow Beach, recommend having your food before you hit up Rainbow Beach which can be a bit expensive for things. We didn’t need any food for this tour but we needed food for overnight at rainbow beach. before heading on the tour. Was a favourite tour for everyone on our 6wk tour of Qld. Highly recommend checking out K’Gari island and doing the tour so you don’t have to worry about the 4wd on the sand. It was well worth it! If you’re flexible with timing late July was great weather and incredibly quiet outside of AU school. holidays.

Fraser Island was an adventure

We booked the Explorer 2-Day Tour to make sure, that we get to see most of the highlights of Fraser Island. That was the right decision because you need much time of the day in the bus or on the ferry to get to your sightseeing spots. The Tour Guide was nice and we saw a lot amazing spots but we wish to got more Information of each spot for example how long we can spend time there, where are we going next, what to bring, etc. Our favorite spot was the champagne pools. We loved it there. It was also not easy to understand the strong accent of the tour guide when you are not a native speaker. The stay in the resort wasn't so enjoyable. Our room didn't have air con so it got stuffy in the night. The included lunch was nothing special and not worth it. We were a bit disappointed by that. The Dinner is not included in the package and you have to eat there because you don't have other options but the dinner was much better than the lunch. On the second day the lunch was just a sandwich. All in all we had a great time and would recommend the trip. It was a once in a lifetime experience to spend time on this wild island. But you should definitly bring your umbrella. The wheater changes very fast.

Excellent trip

Amazing 2-day trip on K’Gari. Andrew was very knowledgeable and passionate about the island. We learnt a lot and were able to really enjoy each place we visited.

Awe inspiring, beautiful and fun!

Wow what an amazing two days!! Highly recommend- everyone on K’gari was so helpful and happy!! Our guides Hayden and Elissa were so knowledgeable and entertaining!! This was Elissa first two day tour and she nailed it!! So knowledgeable about the history and flora and fauna of the island, she has an incredible future in tourism. Hayden was so fun and told us so much about the history of the island and the flora and fauna. He is a great ambassador for Australia!!

Awesome tour, mediocre hotel

Mark the tour guide was excellent and the tour is really good. Unfortunately they put you in a room with no aircon and a slow turning ceiling fan that makes it impossible to sleep.

DO NOT BOOK

We rented a car, drove 6 hours to Rainbow Beach to be told there was an issue with our reservation and we would not be able to get on tour. I had received a text hours earlier with the confirmation of our booking and details for departure .... After many calls they FINALLY facilitated a refund, but offered nothing else. We will likely never be back in Australia so missed this experience. The company had the audacity to tell us that they could not do more for us, because it would be a financial hit to them. Terrible customer service.

An island of Sand. With so much else.

Fantastic island to visit. Beautiful interior, crystal clear lakes and streams. Awesome coast line. Fascinating history. A great day out. Would return to stay and appreciate the wildlife and tranquility

Fantastic Experience

We had a great time on the 2 day trip with K’Gari Explorer Tours, the views were incredible. A big thank you to our guide, Mark (Sarge) who was brilliant. Will definitely recommend to friends and family for future visits!

Great tour, would not recommend Viator

The tour itself was great, we saw dingoes, swam in beautoful lakes and had a great gime overall. However, next time I would not book through viator again. In the booking it said we could be picked up at rainbow beach, so that is where we were. As it turns out, this was the Hervey Bay tour and thus we should have been at the pick-up location there. This caused a lot off stress and a less enjoyable start to our tour than could have been. Therefore, be mindful when booking through Viator and if you can, book through the tour organization straight away.

Great experience

Lots to see in the nature. Nice staff, well organized tour. We liked the resort, too. Scenic Flight was a great bonus.

We spent two days on the island and would recommend this amount of time. We got to see plenty of Dingos and had a lovely time

Paradise

The experience was excellent and our guide Jean is an expert driver and the best possible leader. K'gari Island is a real paradise and this 2 days trip was perfectly organized: I have not regrets, only good memories and a beautiful experience.

Just beautiful

We did the 2 day tour. Our tour guild was Jean, he was brilliant- feeding March flies to the fish and making sure we didn’t get stuck in the sand on the roads! Adapted the tour so we got to spend the most time in each of the places we visited. Got to see around 20 dingoes in one day!

Great experience:)

We had Jean as our guide on the two days tour, and he was absolutely incredible. We visited all the places mentioned in the itinerary on the website and had plenty of time in each. All was planned nicely with the tides times. We were lucky enough to see plenty of Dingoes and birds. Jean had a lot of knowledge and was very friendly and great to talk to. Overall, great experience!

Everything we wanted out of a Tour and so much more!

Absolutely brilliant! Can’t say enough good things about this Tour! And one of the best parts about it was our amazingly knowledgeable Tour guide Dave! What a guy! He knew every answer to every question we had about K’Gari island! And so much more! Was the entertainment to our trip! And so much more! We experienced some epic places and made some of the most amazing memories! Even met some new friends! But honestly Dave you just made the trip for us!! Thank you so much! You will not be forgotten! And what a place in the world to visit! Beyond happy with this little adventure!! Big up Big D!
