Great tour..... so interesting to hear some of the history of Edinburgh and experience the vaults. Jordan was a great guide and made the tour fun and interesting, would highly recommend taking an hour out of your day to do this tour.

It was very appropriate for kids under 12. James was our guide and was amazing. He searched for someone special in the group and settled on our 10 year old granddaughter who is left handed!

IncrediblE Experience.

Amazing historical reenactment of how people lived in the 1700s(?). Our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable/informative and the best part was absolutely the smell. Made it so realistic, intentional or not. Will 100% be returning with my close family again. Thank you!

Worth your time

The tour was pretty cool. Got a history lesson about various aspects of Old Edinburgh before venturing into the vaults under the South Bridge. The vaults were exactly as you'd expect...musty, damp, and a little eerie :)

Fascinating

We went to see the underground vaults yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jordan was an excellent guide. Full of interesting stories. This was the best part of our trip to Edinburgh

Excellent tour providing insight in the living conditions of the poor in late 1700's

Ally is an excellent tour guide - she combines lots of interesting information with humor in a pleasant and clear style. She was not particularly fast or slow in speaking, which is helpful for non-native speakers. She was good at making herself available to you to ask questions as we walked between different spots on the tour. I was most surprised by the vaults themselves and the fact that they were "forgotten" for such a long time. This tour really gives you a better sense of how people in Edinburgh lived in the late 1700's.

Edinburgh has a dark past

Our tour guide, Jordan, was awesome! He told us some great and very interesting stories of Edinburgh‘s dark past. The tour was worth it! Left quite the impression on us. We are from Canada. Would recommend this tour!

A good history tour of a hidden part of Edinburgh

This was a good, hour long tour where you learn about hidden vaults in Edinburgh that were part of a bridge. A very interesting tour and our guide was very knowledgeable

Informative and a bit creepy!

Really informative and slightly creepy tour. Had a really enjoyable time learning quite the range of facts about wider Edinburgh and the vaults and how they came about. Our tour guide Jordan was friendly, full of interesting facts, and did a really great job. Will be recommending to family and friends.

Interesting and fun

Very interesting and insightful tour, presented to us by a warm and friendly tour guide named Ally. We all had a great time, I would certainly recommend if you are at all interested in this interesting slice of the history of Edinburgh ! A nice, concise little tour to fit into a weekend, an hour well spent!

A must see tour

Our guide Kieren was excellent, he was chatty and friendly and provided the information in a relaxed and amusing manner making it more interesting. The tour involved walking from the meeting point and stopping a couple of times to give us information about the city and its residents and what it was like in the past, before making out way into the Vaults. Kieran kept us informed about what to expect and warned of possible triggering subjects or experiences to give people the option to leave or "sit out" parts. It was a very enjoyable tour and would recommend to anyone, it does however take place in limited light and the floor underneath is wet in places, it does involve stairs, so if any of these things are an issue to you, then you might want to rethink this tour, if however you are fine with the about, definitely go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Good, but too short

Our guide Kieran was excellent, very engaging, but felt this tour was a bit limited. Would have liked to visit a few more stops and take half an hour longer.

Tour guide likes a scare

My girlfriend would give it a 4, but after noticing I had a bit of a fright since I am jumpy the tour guide continuously tried to scare me even though he was told I don’t like it. In addition, some of the historical accuracy was questioned in a later tour that day. This is the first time I’ve written a review but feel that others should know in case

The left handed witch

This is a Flfantastic tour, a must of going to Edinburgh. Good tour to Greyfriers kurtyard, Greyfriers bobby and then on to the underground vaults, lots of things pointed out on way, the tour guide James was amazing, very informative, funny , and energetic.

Explore Underground Edinburgh

James, our guide was perfect. Met us exactly on time and guided us through the crowded streets to the hidden gem vaults below all the hustle and bustle. Hour tour was plenty to get a real picture of life underground. Highly recommend.

Good guide, but venue average

I would say this was an OK tour... was not over the top. The tour was limited to a few chambers that are owned by this company... apparently. other tour companies own other chambers... not sure if that is better or worse, but this would not be the highlight of my day in Edinburgh.

Shorts walks, great history and an eerie yet friendly atmosphere

Eric is THE BEST

Eric gave us our tour, we arrived less than 24 hours beforehand so it was nice to learn about the city from a kind, intelligent and informed local. His knowledge is extensive and we learned a lot. The vaults are really spectacular, and actually kind of creepy! Eric makes it fun. We highly recommend this tour!

Fun & Friendly Guide, Lackluster Experience

Nothing to see here. Very disappointing. Tour is a series of 5 similar vaulted rooms that all share a single hallway, a short history of how they were discovered, and then a lot of stories about witches who practiced there 30 years ago, a band that used the space to practice in the 80s, and a random guy who declared the vault haunted after spending the night there and hearing static in the hall. Money best spent elsewhere.

Amazing

James was a great tour guide!! He definitely loves his job and was so good at explaining the stories in a fun and scary way. This is the second time I’ve done this tour and James made it come to life.

Fantastic tour of the underground vaults in Edinburgh

Highly recommend this tour, it was very interesting. I found all the history extremely fascinating. Have to say that Eric the tour guide was such a nice guy very knowledgeable and he made the tour well worth it!! .

Not underground but still interesting

The guide was great and very knowledgable. The first half of the tour is around the streets getting to the vaults so we were a bit confused. The vaults themselves are not underground which we also weren’t expecting but once you get in they have a very interesting history. I don’t think it’s worth £20 but was still interesting to see
