Spooky tour

Sara was a great guide and very informative. She showed us loads of locations that we wouldn't have seen. A bit creepy walking round grave yards in the misty dark weather!

Debbie was prompt, very pleasant and had some interesting stories to share. We enjoyed our time with her in late October 2019 before COVID shut down international travel. My “friends” were my two adult daughters as we explored our British heritage

Evelyn is an absolutely fantastic tour guide. She really knows her city well and brings the myths and legends to life with her amazing stories. The whole family enjoyed the afternoon (despite the rain, which didn't really matter) and in fact it was the highlight of our weekend in Edinburgh. I would thoroughly recommend the myths and legends tour with Evelyn to anybody who is planning a visit to this really interesting city.

Spooky and fun ghost tour in Edinburgh

Being a fan of ghost tales, I knew I wanted to discover Edinburgh's dark side, and Evelyn was the perfect guide to do so. Evelyn got us hooked and spooked since the beginning in an informative and real way, without a need to resource to theatrical measures. The spooky tour was a highlight of my time in Edinburgh, and I highly recommend it to others that want to meet an authentic local with an interesting background like Evelyn.

A wonderful, informative, insider experience with Laura!

My husband and I were only in Edinburgh for two days and we wanted to make the most of our time there. We found Laura on the withlocals.com website and literally booked her the night before we wanted to do our tour. She was flexible with our meeting time which worked out great! We mentioned we loved taking photographs, and Laura is an experienced photographer who helped make sure we got some great shots. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and Edinburgh and gave us such wonderful insights as we explored some popular places and some off-the-beaten path places with her. We both really enjoyed our time with her and recommend her highly for anyone looking for a more authentic Edinburgh experience! We traveled in September 2019.

Lovely Local

We had the spooky ghost tour booked for our first night in Dublin and enjoyed Ruairi's stories to the utmost. It gave us a good overview of the city centre and selected historic events. We also appreciated his recommendations for food and drinks around the city and integrated the 'toffeetunities' into our further trip. Edinburgh 2019

Evelyn was factual, passionate & knowledgeable in her city and the history & facts. Her selfless research into the history & her twist of passion and jokes is second to none! Do not waste your time and money with the tour operators that do the kitschy dress ups, book Evelyn and learn more and see more with her lovely Scottish accent & knowledge of the sometimes sad but mainly mesmerising stories of some of the most noteworthy historical figures of the city all the way back to the 1400's.......... Evelyn is a true resident & her love of the city and it's history shines through like no other! I'm grateful for her time & knowledge!

Extremely exciting first tour with "withlocals"

I booked a night tour for me and my friend (both Italian speaking) during our stay in Edinburgh with Xavier and It was the first time booking with 'withlocals' for me. Meeting Xavier was like meeting up with an old friend: he made us feeling so comfortable and we enjoyed chatting as well. The tour has been extremely exciting and interesting despite the silly weather and Xavi was very clear on all his explanations, very knowledgeable about everything and also regarding Scottish language. The tour, even if a thematic one, enlightened a lot about Edinburgh's history and curios facts thanks to Xavi's approach. If I'll ever come back I'd like to do a daily tour with him.

Full of fun historical facts and stories

Evelyn was delightful and a font of historical and arcane facts and stories. She made history come alive with her detailed knowledge and passion for her city and culture.

Underground vaults

I would have preferred more history and a little less theatrics of guide trying to scare the group. That said, I realize some folks were on the tour to be scared.

Fantastic tour of spooky Edinburgh! 😀

We booked the spooky night tour and really enjoyed the experience! We were taken to places we would have never have found on our own and told many a gruesome tale! My favourite part was hearing all about the vaults and the spirits that haunt these dark spaces! Loved it!

Vi hadde Svend-Erik som guide. Han var kunnskapsrik, morsom og engasjerende. Han tok oss med på tur gjennom kirkegårder og i gamlebyen etter at mørket hadde falt, og fortalte morsomme spøkelseshistorier og interessante historiske fakta om Edinburgh. Vi lærte mye av turen, og det gjorde det morsommere å gå igjennom gatene neste dag, og ha historier knyttet til bygninger og steder. Veldig gøy, anbefaler privat guide.
