To be honest when I booked this tour it was for my husband. I knew he’d enjoy it but I do not drink and so I thought I was taking one for the team. But wow, what a cool trip. On the small bus driving through the countryside was such an awesome experience, especially with our knowledgeable and funny driver. Eric had us giggling from the start. His knowledge of all things Scottish was phenomenal, but Eric was like an onion, an interesting onion, there were many layers! The tour took us to two distilleries, both were interesting and we both enjoyed learning about the process. While the formula is the same the two distilleries were so different! I wasn’t going to do the second tour of the distillery but they had me at manual process! Also the second one Glenturret had cats and I love cats as much as hubby loves whiskey! We also got to visit some beautiful small towns, historic bridges and saw the kelpies! This wasn’t a boozy tour so I also loved that. It was interesting, informative and entertaining. Though we also spent a good chunk of money at the distilleries buying gifts. This was definitely one of the highlights of our six week holiday!

Go, you won’t regret it!

We really enjoyed our driver Eric. Such an interesting guy who was super knowledgeable about everything! We were on time to our stops, which were also awesome! Definitely recommend this tour. I don’t drink but my husband loves whiskey. But I still enjoyed the tour for the road trip, views and history and experience at each stop.

Great time

A lot of fun. Distilleries were a good time. The views were excellent. The tour guide was a real good guy. My only advisory is that some of the back roads taken to ensure the best scenery are a little windy so if you are prone to motion sickness you may want to pass on this opportunity.

Whiskey fun!

Our guide Paul Santa was fabulous. Very entertaining with many whiskey stories. The distilleries we visited were great. It was a wonderful day.

Excellent intro to Scotch.

Seemed to be an all new presentation. A few minor hick-ups , but really well done. The collection of spirts that they just purchased was the most amazing collection I have ever seen.

I would recommend this...

I would recommend this trip to any first time visitor to Scotland. Our guide, GARY, was very knowledable about the countryside as well as sharing a lot on information about Scottish culture. We needed extra time at the stops due to disabilities and he was very accomadating.

A Day in the Scottish Countryside

!. Andy T. was a fantastic tour guide- very kind, friendly, knowledgable, and flexible. I so enjoyed his professionalism, entertaining stories, and genuine interest in making it a great day filled with learning about Scotland and whiskey! He did your company proud!! The tour was a great chance to get into the Highlands, learn about Scotch, and have a pleasant lunch on our own in a beautiful town. The tour was small (16 ) with a comfortable bus, and lots of great commentary from Andy T. So enjoyed the whole experience!

To the distillery!

Eric made this trip! He is extremely knowledgeable on Scottish history, (he may be the most interesting man in Scotland). The tour was fantastic and passed our expectations. Both distilleries were similar, but had some distinct differences that made them unique. Definitely enjoyed taking the sprinter van rather than a coach bus - made the tour more intimate.

Stewart is your man!

Stewart was amazing and made this experience for myself and my partner! He had great knowledge of the history both architecturally and culturally within Scotland as well as some brilliant recommendations. The tour itself was very informative, interactive and good fun. Would highly recommend this experience to anybody!

A tour of Scotland, not a whisky tour

This probably isn’t what you’re looking for if you really want to try a lot of whisky’s. The tour is about 10hrs, but what you’re really paying for is a scenic drive through Scotland, given you only visit two distilleries in that time, and the cost of the tastings isn’t included in the tour price. Our group spent most of the time snoozing on the bus! The whisky we tasted was nice, and so were the hosts but overall it didn’t feel like value for money.

Great day trip

Fantastic day trip, with a safe driver and guide Mark. He tells stories there’s great and shows some great parts of Skottland Before this trip, we really didn’t like whiskey, but now 😀 If you want a great and funny day trip, ask for Mark😀

Scots' scotch whiskey in the Highlands

Peter was our tour guide who I'm glad to say came back from retirement to lead this motley group. His insightful comments on the regions and places we drove through with Scotland's historical significance helped to appreciate where we were and what we were seeing. He went out of the way to show that to us and that made the tour that much more meaningful. Both the Dewars and Glenturret facilities, pre-reserved provided tour by the local staffs (with only the need to pay for the tours at the distillery about 15 GBP) and Scotch Whiskey tastings were excellent. The Dewars museum was well put together and the Glenturret that was recently acquired by Lalique was full of plush and glitz. Recommend the 3 Lemons for lunch in Aberfeldy.

Great whisky tour

We have an amazing time and the tour guide Scuff was so entertaining and so nice. We visited 2 distillery and both were good and we especially enjoyed tastings pairing with dark chocolate at Dewar distillery. The best tour we had in Scotland.

Amazing experience

The tour was amazing! I loved all the information our driver Paul gave us while driving, it was interesting to hear everything and enjoyed the music he played too! It was lovely day! 100% reccommend

Best part of the vacation

Absolutely the highlight of our trip! Stewart was amazing!!! So knowledgeable and made the trip fun and entertaining! I loved learning the history of Scotland as well as the whiskey making! My teenager even enjoyed it!

Good whisky bad experience

Enjoyed the tour and visiting Dewars, however, unexpectedly after the tour and tasting we were told that we would have 2 more hours for lunch at the distillery. So instead of going into Aberfeldy town for lunch as listed in the itinerary, we could only order from a small and poor selection of prepackaged sandwiches at the small Dewars cafe. Besides the poor food options it was also a complete waste of our time and would have been better to finish the tour earlier. Even if it was impossible to go to the village, having 3 hours at the first distillery and 1 hour at the second was poor time management. Definitely needed more time at Glenturret which had a proper restaurant (with a Michelin star - seems odd lunch wasn’t here) to try more drams without being rushed. Also times for departure were set but I was then pressured to leave earlier by the guide - which made it hard after ordering flights. Regret going on this tour. This is neither here or there. But if everyone is going to the same distilleries and doing the same tours it would make more sense to include the tour prices in the ticket instead of getting everyone to pay individually at both distilleries.

Quick day trip to the Highlands

This was our only opportunity to visit the Highlands so the drive from Aberfeldy to Glenturret was amazing. The Glenturret tour was also fantastic.

Would recommend.

Very enjoyable experience. Our tour guide Jim was personable, knowledgeable and funny! He also included music and the right amount of silence to enjoy the view. And what countryside views there were! The tours of the distilleries were good; however, admission was not included in the tour price, and they were too similar to each other; I wish they were more differentiated. Also would have liked the option to pay for a better whiskey flight at each location, instead of the two or three small options offered. Overall, a well-spent day.

Great Experience

My husband and I went on the whiskey experience with Eric as our guide. Eric was awesome, and very helpful. He made the trip very enjoyable. We really loved the scenery in between the distilleries. The group was small, and the coach was very clean and comfortable. Most of the group preferred the Dewar’s distillery, but I preferred Glenturret. Glenturret had a very niche atmosphere, and the staff seemed very passionate about their product. Also Glenturret has cats— which made it that much better.

Riding with Rose

We had a blast on this tour. Met nice people, drank great whisky, and our guide Rose was a wealth of knowledge about Scotland. She went out of her way to accommodate everyone.

Fun day tour

We enjoyed Eric's commentary with the added humor. His historic knowledge complemented by his life experiences was impressive. The two distilleries we visted were very interesting and enjoyable.

Terrible experience, almost a scam amho

I have been canceled last minute for no reason. All my friends stayed with me and we had not gone on the tour. Its very hard for them to obtain their money back. Terrible organisation, terrible service

Excellent whisky tour

We had an incredible experience - Gary was a great driver kept us safe and informed the entire time. The Dewars tour was outstanding. It took about 2 hours but we learned so much. It cost about £42 for two ppl and included 3 scotch and chocolate pairings at the end. Glenturret was the second tour and it was amazing as well. Overall we 100% would book this again. Excellent experience.

Overall Great Experience if You Like Whisky!

We had a wonderful time on our tour of the Highlands. Our guide, Stuart, was friendly and knowledgeable and curated a wonderful experience so that we could learn about and enjoy the area. I’d definitely recommend for any first timers in Scotland! My only piece of feedback is that the price is a bit steep when you consider the price of the experience as well as the price of the distillery and whiskey tastings. The tours at the distilleries are a bit repetitive, so paying twice for a similar experience on top of any souvenirs feels a bit redundant. Otherwise, great time and experience overall!

Perfect trip for whisky lovers.

A perfect day trip for all whiskey lovers and also interested people. We visit two distilleries and could feel the spirit of manufacture. Framed by a really funny and friendly guide, who shortened the travel time with so many exciting stories. You should definitely join the guided tours, you learn a lot about the distilleries and the history. It should also be mentioned that the tasting is very well accompanied in the Glenturret distillery and that you learn here how to properly test whiskey...

Wonderful whiskey tour, spectacular guide

Stuart was an excellent guide and resource for scottish information. My best friend, James, had a wonderful time. We both enjoyed Stuart as our guide and wish he could have been our guide on our entire stay. He filled the tour with history, jokes, music and education. Everything Scotland and throughout the entire day. We would both highly recommend him to future tour groups. Thanks, Stuart!

An experience not to be missed

We had a great experience and our guide Eric had a lot to do with it. A very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly guide. Thanks to him we saw many places in the highlands we wouldn’t have seen. We even learned about Scottish music. Whisky tour and tastings phenomenal.

Highly recommend this day trip!

Perfect day trip from Edinburgh! Stewart (Stuart?) was a wonderful host for the day. Highly knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly. Both distillery tours were enjoyable and different. In contrast to other posts, it is clearly stated that distillery entrance fees are not included so very much expected to pay our entry. I would highly recommend this tour, company and host! Very well organized from start to finish and well worth going.

Nice day in the Highlands!

This was my husbands ultimate Father’s Day gift, and he LOVED it! Our guide was great and the bus was very comfortable. We really enjoyed the scenery along the trip, and the stop in Aberfeldy was really lovely. The distillery tours were both very informative, but a bit repetitive. Maybe one distillery tour would have sufficed, but it was interesting seeing the subtle differences between them. It s a bit of a long day, but it is a nice day spent out of Edinburgh.

Not worth our time.

Was a pleasant drive around Scotland with lots of historical information, but not much about whisky except at the 2 distilleries. For your time you a better off with the whisky experience in Edinburgh and a different historical tour of other places.

Great Day Tour

We had a wonderful time on the whiskey tour. Timely departure and arrival back allowed us to spend the evening in Edinburgh. While the tours were not included tasting made it a fun day

Lovely time

Beyond the famous cat statue at Glenturret Distillery, I met current cats Turret (black) and Glen (orange). Lovely stream next to the property, and interesting glass in the gift shop. Glenturret and Dewars both had comfy places to sit and relax. Eric of Timberbush Tours was a top-knotch guide, full of interesting stories, historical facts available on the fly, interesting connections to Edinburgh Parliament history, all types of Scottish music, and jokes so bad they were great.

The trip was terrific ! Loved our guide and driver. Very knowledgeable of all things Scotland- history, music, etc

Tour/tasting fees not included

The tour was a small group, which I appreciated, and the mini bus comfortable. Stevie (Stephen) was a fine driver. He admitted that he did not know much about whisky; it might have been better with a guide who knew more about whisky. The distillery tours and tastings are not included in the price. This doesn't make much sense as why would you book this if you weren't participating in those? We stopped at a nice little town for lunch and there was enough time to eat (quickly) and the recommendations from Stevie were good. The distillery tours themselves were brilliant! Very informative and enjoyable! It is clear that the distillery guides are knowledgeable and passionate about their products.
