Fantastic experience

A fantastic view into the world of Scotch Whiskey. This multimedia experience led by fantastic tour guide Fraser was great for both those just experiencing whiskey for the first time and those who have been drinking it a while. The knowledge, tasting and laid back atmosphere led to a great experience that we would happily repeat and recommend to anyone.

Definitely worth the money

The tour was much better than we had expected. Impressive information which is presented in high tech fashion. Loved the tastings and displays.

Sleek, non-typical whisky tour

The tour is quite sleek, you're watching it on sophisticated screens that makes it feel emmersive. Its very well done, you forget you're just inside a building in Edinburgh. You only get to taste one whiksy though, so it's not your typical tasting tour.

Great tour!

Really interesting tour. We called in as we had a reservation in a restaurant nearby & had a couple of hours to kill. We did the silver tour as it was morning time! Marcus our guide was excellent & made the tour most enjoyable. Loved the room with the huge collection of whiskey, it was fab. Good value for a very good tour.

VISIT VISIT

Went on the bank holiday weekend and was really busy. We did the Gold Tour and it was really amazing. Me and my friend enjoyed the whole tour. Even though I am not a whisky drinker. I loved the experience and learnt new things along the way. Give a shout out to Lottie for making the experience amazing and being so enthusiastic. She really how to get the audience. She really made the journey and experience of the scotch experience amazing. Keep up with the amazing work and will be recommending some friends about this. 10/10

Worth the stop and taste of unique scotches.

Casual and unique. The upstairs area was comfortable. The food delicious and presented well. The collection of private scotch bottles as well as offerings.

Highly Recommended Scotch Whisky Tour!

What a polished presentation of all things Scotch Whisky! We loved our tour and our guide (forgot her name) was wonderful. Walking through the world's largest collection of Scotch Whisky was pretty cool and the tastings at the end was a nice introduction to Distilleries I might not have tried before. Highly recommended tour!

Super interesting!

It was very interesting. The tour was ver informing and to the point. The explanations were not to long and the visuals were very fun. I learned a lot. Their bar was also great for tasting even more whiskeys and they had great recommendations and very interesting prices. Same goes for their shop! If you want to learn something about whiskey and be able to impress your friends at home, this is the place to be!

Amazing! Informated! Worth the hype!

Thought the whole experience was great!! The lady who ran out tour was fantastic! Especially as we didn't have many polite people in our tour, bothering to listen to her! So she apologised for not having the best experience. We did explain we still did as we're there for my partners 30th Birthday present... And unknown to myself also our engagement as he proposed just before our trip! And we were treated to 4 mode complimentary whiskeys to try!! Delightful! Highly recommend!!

Great tasting especially for those rainy Scotland days

Matilda was a great host, very knowledgeable and helpful. My husband, daughter and I enjoyed the experience and knowledge of all different types of Scotch Wiskey.

Fabulous!

What a fabulous tour to learn all about scotch whisky from how it is made to which areas of Scotland it comes from. Our fabulous guide Lottie was funny, charming and informative. The tour itself was very cleverly done and we learnt a lot. We got to try five different scotches and we loved the room full of the thousands of Scotch bottles. Hat a fabulous room and story behind them. Highly recommend buying the experience that includes the dinner with it. The tour is first then we were able to shop and then had dinner we which was delicious.

Fun, even if you don’t like whisky

Even though I don’t like Whisky, the tour was educational and interesting. Evangeline, our guide, was polished and professional.

Fun and very informative

I randomly walked into this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. They’ve got fun effects and very informative content about whiskey and how it’s made. They also have a collection of old whiskey bottles some ranging from the 1800s! Our host Gabriel was fun, witty and friendly and was a key part of my experience. Definitely recommend to try!

Fabulous Scotch Experience

We had the fabulous Lottie lead our scotch experience. She was super knowledgeable. The tour is fabulous!!! Learnt about how scotch was made and places in Scotland it comes from. We sampled 5 scotches and learnt what to look for. An absolutely fabulous experience. Highly recommend it.

This was fun! My husband likes whisky, the rest of us not so much, but we all loved this. The tour inself is well thought out and done. Different rooms were intriguing. the collection is impressive The tour guide was energetic and knowledgable and makes it great. The tastings are great because you can taste each region and really see the difference, I loved the scratch and sniff card idea to identify different regions. This was an ecellent learning and enjoying experience I really could not speak highly enough

Great Experience

Worth the money and time! Learned a lot, loved the scratch and sniff portion of the tour, and really appreciate how kind the staff was. We were late due to city traffic and they went out of their way to make sure we joined up with the tour group so we could still get some of the experience.

Didn’t know I was a whisky drinker

Really enjoyed this experience. I have had whisky in the past but it was very interesting learning how the whisky is distilled and learning about the different tastes based on the different regions of Scotland. Our guide Adam was very entertaining yet very informative. The experience involves watching multiple movies which are quite immersive, if you get motion sickness just be forewarned. You get to pick one whisky to taste based on your preferences, they match you with a region and you get to keep the glass. The whisky collection is quite impressive.

Give it a try 😉, it's worth it.

The experience was amazing. Being in presence of over 100 year old whiskey was great. The tour guide was lovely. The whole experience was worth it. Highly recommended

Wonderful couple of hours

Fantastic interactive tour which is so much more than just learning about whiskey ( which we don’t even drink) but the experience was just great and this was largely down to Aiden’s knowledge and enthusiasm, he made it very enjoyable, and I would fully recommend doing this if you’re in Edinburgh, I thought it was well priced, good value for money, and there is a bar at the end where you can stay and enjoy more drinks and crisps etc Nice little keep sake glass at the end for memories.

Not worth it in my opinion

The best part was at the end when we got to taste a tiny bit of whisky. I have a good ear for accents but the tour guide had such a heavy Scottish accent and talked so fast I could only catch 1 out of every 4 or 5 words. The visuals were well done.

The Scotch whiskey experience

Ran in to this place by accident and just loved it. Excellent public bar with outstanding whiskeys, food and above all service. I loved the idea of restore original casks of whiskey in a different barrel. So if you are in Edinburgh and have an interest in whisky this is a must to visit.

This tour was amazing!! I do not like whiskey, but my husband does and wanted to go so bad. Even I enjoyed it! Very interactive and fun. Beki was such a great guide!

Whisky tour and amber restaurant

We had food at the amber before the tour both of which were excellent. Our guide was friendly and imparted loads of of whisky knowledge. We had a great time trying and learning about different whisky’s how they’re made and the different flavours between them.

Interesting

This was a super interesting tour and I would definitely recommend it! It’s definitely an introduction to whiskey, however, I thought we would sample more than one. But this was still a super interesting experience and we had fun!

Gotta have Whiskey in Edinburgh!!

Took a Gold tour and tasting at the Scotch-Whiskey Experience just outside of Edinburgh Castle. Although our tour guide was good (I don’t recall her name but she was from Australia) and very informative and knowledgeable, the tour was a bit commercialized and rehearsed. Granted there were about 25-30 of us following her throughout the building. There are movies, lights, graphics, empty bottles, full bottles, a bit showy for my tastes, but not a bad 75 mins to spend enjoying Scottish whiskey. They talked to us about the 5 main areas where whiskey is made in Scotland, then they chose 4 whiskeys (1 from 4 regions) and we got to select either 5th region or a blended whiskey to try. The best part of the tour and most awe-inspiring was the walking into the vault there were 3,384 full bottles of whiskey! Quite amazing really…then we were whisked to a tasting room that was loud and had 3 different large groups tasting at the same time…so it seemed like she was shouting at us when telling us about the whiskeys. I just felt as though we couldn’t even ask questions because there 1) wasn’t time, and 2) it was too loud. All in all, you GOTTA have a whiskey tasting in Edinburgh and if you really want to know where it comes from and how it’s made, this is the place to come. I tipped our tour guide well because she really did know her stuff. I’ll give it 4-stars only because they should probably consider making the “gold tour” into something a little less commercialized because those of us willing to pay more to learn more and taste more will usually buy more 😊

Worth a visit even if you aren't a whisky drinker..... yet!!

A great experience and chance to learn about the history of Whisky. Alan our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a few laughs along the way to add to a fun experience. The visuals are great and of course the whisky tasting a fab end to it all.

An hour well spent

Highly recommend doing this tour while in Edinburgh. It doesn't take long and is a fun way of sampling Scottish whiskey. Our tour guide Evangeline brought us through the process of making Scottish whiskey with cool multimedia displays. We're not whiskey drinkers but we really enjoyed this tour.

Amazing silver tour and wish we had done the gold one!

Located just before the amazing Edinburgh castle, the silver tour whiskey experience is a must for anyone wanting to learn the basics of how Scotch Whiskey is made and how it differs across the different regions of Scotland. The tour itself is very well put together and takes you through the journey whiskey takes from Scottish rain all the way to the bottle. If you're wanting to not only learn about the different regions of Scottish whiskey but taste it too, I would recommend booking the gold tour. If i could go back in time and go again I would definitely of booked the gold tour, getting a chance to taste multiple different whiskies across the different regions of Scotland you just learnt about the from the tour would of been a great way to round off the full experience. A special shoutout to our tour guide Heather who was incredibly knowledgable and approachable on any questions we had. She also went above and beyond for us on our tour, making it a really special experience for both myself and my girlfriend.

I was very disappointed with the response I got when I could not make this after a family emergency and was told there was nothing that could be done and the gift I received was lost. Very unhelpful indeen

Whisky Tasting done well

What an excellent attraction this is. Wether you’re a whisky novice or a more experienced whisky drinker, I would highly recommend this experience. I did the tasting tour with four whiskies being paired with food. Our guide Matilda was wonderful. Her knowledge and enthusiasm on the subject was exemplary. She’s an asset to the company. All four whiskies were excellent and the chosen food pairings were spot on.

Amazing Gold Tour!

Amazing Gold Tour with Marnie! My dad loves Scotch and I’m in the early stages of appreciating it. I loved the Gold Tour’s ability to taste the different regions. And we both leaned a lot about Scotch whisky! Very cool multimedia experience. Highly recommend.

Nice overview of Scottish Whiskey history

This is a fun experience with great visuals and good educational information. The staff is very pleasant and the opportunity to extend your tasting experience in the collection tasting room at the end was especially fun!

Great way to learn about Scotch Whisky in a short time

We had a limited time in Edinburgh and taking this tour was perfect for us. We learned about the origin of the Scotch whisky and the regions in Scotland where they sre made. Our guide was very impressive too.

Great experience

We went on the Gold tour and I must say it was brilliant the best whisky tour I've been on . You are brought into many different rooms showing you the process on different large screens the effects are brilliant. The second last room you enter is full of whisky bottles from floor to ceiling apparently the second largest collection in the world so impressive. Finally you get to taste 4 different whiskies absolutely loved it . Our guide was Marcus who was class the whole way through
