Great day...not to much driving. Driver/guide was awesome...very informative and patient. Would have preferred more time at Stirling castle and less time at Rosslyn chapel

Great tour of Scottish history

Learn lots of Scottish history through 4 stops - Battlefield of Bannockburn, 2 churches and Stirling Castle. Joe is an excellent storyteller and made the journey fly by!

Fantastic tour

It was one of the coolest tours I’ve taken because the stories that our guide Jacqueline told were not only historical but well researched. Our driver John also had lots of fun facts for us and made our trip so enjoyable with his humor and great driving. Seeing the Dunfermline Abbey, Stirling Castle, and Roslyn Chapel all in one day was just the right amount of sightseeing. We had enough time for pictures and lunch and wandering around. We even had a couple extra spots to check out along the way. I really loved hearing about the history of each place and I can’t wait to come back for another adventure.

Wonderful sights

The sights were wonderful. I think Rosslyn is one of the most beautiful chapels I’ve ever visited. Our guide Jacqui was fantastic and very knowledgeable. I really liked all the historical stories she told. John drove very well and shared his dad jokes. The bus was comfortable. We had plenty of time in Stirling Castle which was great. I’d definitely recommend this tour.

Amazingly Graceful, Unforgettable, Glorious

This experience was a very needed blessing that will never be forgotten. Dunfermline Abbey was crazy cool, Stirling Castle is outstanding, the landscape in itself was beautiful...then I had to go inside and OMG...the last stop though topped it all, Rosslyn Chapel - it was like the heavens opened, the sun just glowed, even the sweetness of the courtyard and finding someone leaving roses was so sweet. Our guide Neil was quite the gentleman, handled everything with grace and attentiveness. Before I set foot in Scotland, I said I wanted to go into a local convenient store just to get the full experience of day to day life - Neil delivered - I learned about Irn Bru (lol - still think McD's fries and coke cures the hangover)...talked to local who was so wonderful, so sweet. Pay attention to the details in life, each person you meet, signs and wonders are all around. Also...there is a unique smell in Scotland, very euphoric, intoxicating. I left my heart in Scotland, it makes my heart pitter-patter, I would move there in a heartbeat. Ya'll Scots are AWESOME!!

Great trip

Chris our bus driver was great. Rosslyn Chapel was probably the highlight. Stirling castle was also very interesting.

Fun and Memorable

Great tour and Chris was knowledgeable and a lot of fun! Rain held off for a good bit of the morning so we were able to see for miles. Fantastic time and will think of booking with company again next time I’m in Edinburgh

Rosslyn Chapel & Stirling Castle.

Fabulous tour with fabulous tour guides. They explained the history so well that it wasn’t just seeing it was seeing and understanding.

Wonderful tour, especially for solo travellers

Such a lovely trip. Great tour with a truly excellent guide. Ideal for those who wish to see the sights outside of Edinburgh without spending hours on a bus. We departed at 9:00 and were back by 17:45. There is plenty of time to explore each location and our guide added the site of the Battle of Bannockburn, which was so very interesting. Stirling Castle is a beauty. Rosslyn Chapel is spectacular. They do not allow pictures but it is so worth seeing. Highly recommended. For solo travellers, do not miss this trip.

Must do tour

Great tour and awesome tour guide jay made the day enjoyable as well as learning alot about Scotland history. Stirling Castle and Dunfermline Abbey best part of tour. Roslyn Chapel was good as well

Scotish History fun

Nestor was very knowledgable, entertaining and passionate about the history and places we visited on the tour. I enjoyed my day and would recommend both the tour and Nestor.

Keith was a fabulous driver and tour guide. He brought the history and legends of the areas visited to life with his narration as we traveled from place to place. We would highly recommend his tours to everyone.

Three major sites in one day with an entertaining guide. A perfect day.

Nestor was a great guide & driver. Loved his commentary about Mel Gibson being the size of Robert the Bruce's sword! We got through three major sites we wanted to see in one day and didn't have to worry about transportation. A perfect day. This guy needs a raise!

All three stops were amazing, lots of interesting history, very good bus driver. Better info about time slot to book Stirling would be helpful.

Every site we visited was magnificent. Stirling Castle is amazing. Dunfermline Abbey was a surprise and very interesting.

Restriction unacceptable.

Impressive chapel, but they inexplicably forbid taking photos inside. They charge 9 pounds to enter and this restriction is unacceptable. If Dan Brown can photograph, why can’t I?

A nice day in the Scottish countryso

Rosslyn has the most beautiful done carvings I’ve ever seen. Dungermline Abbyis interesting a s Stirling Castle is interesting It was a well paced day. The staff is consistently good.

We had a great day with an awesome tour guide. He was very informative and gave us a lot of interesting facts.

Terrible Tour Experience -would not recommend

We arrived at our locations on time and the locations were great. However our tour bus driver, Murray, was rude with everyone. He did not know how to turn the air conditioning on in the bus and had the heat on high. It was 90+ degrees on the bus and people nearly passed out. I have heart issues and became quite ill. He ignored people begging him to fix the air and ran off the bus at the next stop. I am handicapped and He left me stranded without my walker for a while and another gentleman was so overcome by the heat he fell down the stairs and knocked another woman to the ground with him. and Murray was no where to be found. Murray also drove over several street curbs when making turns. The microphone and speaker system on the bus was also terrible. No one could hear what he was saying for the entire trip.

Rosslyn Chapel was...

Rosslyn Chapel was amazing and I would go again and again if I could! Our tour guide was very informative and we had a great time on the tour.

Hugh Mackey made our trip!

Hugh Mackey was our guide and he was AMAZING!! Even took us to Bannockburn which was an “extra” on our itinerary. He was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and funny! You are VERY fortunate to have him on your staff! A 10 for sure!!

Beautiful sites and history

Graham and Alan were a great team! I really enjoyed the enthusiasm with which Graham shared his country’s history and the locations can’t be beat.

Lots of history learned in a day.

The stories told by Graham and Alan enhanced our enjoyment of all the ancient sites: Dunfermline Abbey, Bannockburn, and Stirling Castle. Our favorite spot was Rosslyn Chapel, where Neil gave a wonderful talk about the site and its renovation.

A must visit.

We've been meaning to visit Rosslyn Chapel for many years but somehow never did. We booked tickets to ensure that, on our way to Scotland, we did visit. We are so glad that we did. Words cannot describe the awesome beauty of the Chapel. There is so much to take in that one visit is not enough. We are determined that we shall visit again.

An Amazing Experience!

Excellent day tour and experience

Brody and Neil were fantastic tour guides and we are so glad we did the Rosslyn Chapel, Dunfermline Abbey and Stirling Castle Day Tour with them. They provided insight, context and historical background to the locations we visited. They also took an interest in our trip beyond the tour providing recommendations and advice on things to see and places to go during our remaining time in Scotland. I wish we had time to book additional tours with them and we definitely will the next time we visit. Excellent experience!!

Fun and history

Dunfermline, Stirling and Rosslyn

Great sites, lots of interesting stories and information, and we would totally recommend the tour! This was the best way to learn area history and see multiple sites in one day.

A must! Explore and see.

The castle’s and the churches were priceless. The view breathtaking. Paul the driver was fun, informative, and kept us safe. Neil a worker who was with Paul was kind and compassionate. My wife died 10 weeks ago and He helped me enjoy the trip through my tears. I found a friend.

Interesting tour with great sights

This tour with the great sights was a total success. This is also thanks to the three guides Mohamed, Neil and Mike. They took us on a great journey into the past and entertained us with many exciting stories. Dunfermline Abbey ist such a great place and also the battlefield of Bannockburn is very interesting. The visit of Stirling Castle was also a great experience and Rossly Chapel is always worth a visit. A big thank you to the three guides. They really did a great job!

Fantastic tour and tour guide

This trip was amazing! I could have spent all day at all of the places, particularly Stirling Castle and Rosslyn Chapel. I highly recommend doing the free guided tour of the castle, as the guides are really knowledgable. Also, our Highland Experience guide Keith was FANTASTIC! He was so knowledgable of Scottish History and also gave us great recommendations for food, coffee, and Scottish delicacies. He was also very personable and really made the day very smooth. Could not recommend him highly enough.

Treated as friends not just passengers!

Keith was our tour guide for the day with his partner Mike on board. We had an amazing experience, they are very knowledgeable and provided us with facts on the history and cultural aspects, told us amazing stories. The tour its self was wonderful, however what I enjoyed most was the personal aspect they provided. They took the time to learn about us and spoke to my husband in length about things he had was interested in ( Football or Soccer). Seeing my husband open up, and get to see him and I get treated as friends and not someone who just paid them to drive us around and tell us facts. They him recommendations on places to go, gave him personal opinions, even gave him a little sassy banter back and forth or many subjects. All around an amazing trip.

Fascinating place to go

Absolutely fascinating. Stone carvings on every surface, it seems. There’s a 20 min talk by one of the guides every 90 minutes or so which is well worth listening to. Also, they are very knowledgeable and also helpful in pointing out the location of some of the smaller carvings. Sadly, photography isn’t allowed inside the chapel. Good, modern visitors centre. Cafe looked good but we didn’t use it.

Excellent tour of historical and pretty sites with not too much time in the van.

Turned out to be a perfect tour. Not too much time in the van. Dave the driver was very entertaining and a great driver. Rosslyn Chapel is incredible, could sit inside and study the decor all day. Museum-like castle Stirling Castle is a nice complement to our visit to royal palace Holyrood in Edinburgh the previous day. Interesting hearing how the dreadful English colonisation of Scotland and Mary queen of Scots’ revenge with her son James I sitting on both thrones. Wish we’d seen more of the highlands or a loch.

Stirling Castle & Rosslyn Chapel MUST DO Amazing Places, Good 1 Day Trip; Tour Co & Driver-OK

DRIVER/GUIDE & HIGHLAND EXPERIENCE TOUR CO -STEVEN B was a good driver and did a pretty good job of giving us the history of the kings & the significance of the castles & battles. HIGHLAND EXPERIENCE TOUR CO. answered our pre-tour questions. -Mini Bus was clean and comfortable. 9hr tour, 16people max on tour -Pick up was on the Royal Mile inside the CAFFÉ NERO at Parliament Sq by St Giles Church. Checkin is in a kiosk inside Caffe Nero. Very central meeting spot so easy to find. -Should GET STIRLING CASTLE TICKETS online before going, 12:30pm time slot; Tix NOT INCLUDED in the tour -Tour Co reserves spots at Rosslyn Chapel but you still have to pay entry into Chapel @ ticket booth; Tix NOT INCLUDED in the tour -Dunfermline Abbey was closed when we arrived since they are on Winter break -Timing for each was Ok, Wish had a little more time at Stirling Castle & could have skipped Dunfermline since it wasn’t even opened, but did enjoy the Carnegie Museum at Dunfermline -Drop off was near Deacon Brodie Tavern at the Heritage of Scotland store on Royal Mile around 6pm. There are several Caffe Nero so be certain you have the correct one for pickup/check in & drop off location wasn’t made clear that it would be a different place than the pickup spot. -first stop is a lookout to take pic of Queensferry Bridge -Also while at Stirling Castle, went to the mini bus earlier than return time and didn’t see the van in the parking lot, almost had a heart attack thinking had taken off without us. All in All I just didn’t feel the tour company was as organized as it could be. It really did feel like we just had transport rather than a tour since the driver even said Stirling Castle & Rosslyn Chapel both had their own excellent docent guides & he didn't feel he needed to contribute. DUNFERMLINE ABBEY, STIRLING CASTLE, ROSSLYN CHAPEL SITES All of the sites were amazing & beautiful. Especially Rosslyn Chapel. -DUNFERMLINE ABBEY was about Robert the Bruce (look atop the main tower & the stone work spells out his name). We didn’t get to go inside because it was all closed in the winter. Impressive on the outside. We did have enough time to go to the Carnegie Museum (Andrew Carnegie was born & lived here) which was 50ft away & enjoy the small museum & had a coffee. -BATTLEFIELD OF BANNOCKBURN – statue & plaques explained what happened and approximately where it happened. - STIRLING CASTLE – Consists of 5 buildings built by different kings over the years. Impressive architecture spanning many centuries & styles as it was a castle built over and over again after being attacked multiple times. Definitely take the Guided Tour, expert castle staff were absolutely excellent & very knowledgeable going through the history and pointing out significant features (statues) in the King’s Building, Great Hall. Learned so much. The guided tour is mostly outside. Then definitely go through each of the buildings especially the King James V Palace -the King & Queens Bedchamber & most definitely the King’s Inner Hall with all the painted Stirling Heads on the ceiling, Then go to the adjoining museum to see the real wooden discs with hand carvings of important people. As noted, the furnishings, murals, even tapestry are all reproductions since the castle was attacked, rebuilt & changed hands many times over the centuries. If you have time check out the ARGYLLS’ Museum too, very interesting history of elite unit. Then have lunch at the Unicorn Café. -ROSSLYN CHAPEL – NO PHOTOGRAPHY INSIDE the Chapel. What a jewel of a place. The Docent Staff here are so amazing (especially the older gentleman & lady). They explained the significance of features & helped us find the interesting little carvings. Definitely sit down for the Talk as they go over the history of the place & point out the hidden gems in the carvings. The stained glass, the intricate & overwhelming carvings & the columns & the stories were gorgeous stunning and riveting. Look around & then go downstairs to see where they filmed the Da Vinci Code, if you have time walk around the garden outside of the chapel too. Magical place.

Took my breath away

Lovely time with Chris as our guide. Stirling castle took my breath away. The Abbey and the Chapel were masterpieces. The countryside was picturesque and tranquil. A day to remember for a long time.

Absolutely amazing places to visit! The stunning architecture, landscape and history are not to be missed!

More than we expected!

Dave was a fantastic tour guide. He was very helpful and thoughtful and stopped off at places of interest along the way whilst weaving an intriguing narrative of Scottish history. Dave went out of his way to ensure we were taken care of and was eager to make it an amazing experience for everyone. Thank you, Dave! The tour itself was wonderful. We went for Rosslyn Chapel and got so much more than expected!

Great history tour!

Eddy our driver was great! He had lots of stories and jokes along the way! We had a small group as it’s the off season but this gave us so much time to explore each stop. We really enjoyed this tour! The chapel was amazing and the staff there were so kind answering all our questions and showing the hidden gems the chapel had.

A rewarding day out.

A really fascinating place to visit. The stone carvings and history are far too good to try to put words to here! The staff were helpful and friendly. The guide Neil was particularly knowledgeable and was happy to answer questions - he clearly knows history and was so good to listen to. The cafe was great too. Everything I can totally recommend for a visit. A walk in the Glen is well worth it too.

Good tour, not so good of a company

Dunfermline is apparently closed on Mondays, but they neglect to tell you that. The tour to Loch Ness right before our departure had a driver not even show. Our driver was on his last day there. Needless to say, it doesn’t seem like a happy place to work. Happy employees make for a happy experiences. Our driver, Andy, was very nice and informative, which is the only reason this place gets 3 stars, and not 1. Was sad to see we were the only people to give him a tip for his service.

3 Great Main Stops!

This tour was great. The smaller size bus was enjoyable and our driver/leader was Nestor. Nestor not only drove the bus very well but he is also a wealth of information. We really appreciated the tip about eating first at Stirling Castle then going to tour the castle as so to have more time to look around. All of the stops were fantastic! At first, we were most excited to visit Rossyln Chapel but surprisingly in the end, we loved all of the stops. Each one has something great to offer about Scottish history and we would love to be able to return to each someday. At every stop, Nestor guided us in and gave us information the proved to be invaluable. Thank you Nestor! We would highly recommend this tour as there is not one "bad" stop on the whole tour.

Insightful visit to historically-charged sites around Edinburgh

We enjoyed this one-day tour very much : Dave, our driver and guide, provided very insightful information on each destination we got to that day, and also on interesting spots we were crossing on our way to those sites. The stops at each destination were just long enough to allow us to visit and learn on historical backgrounds. We were also pleasantly surprised to have a thorough presentation by a local guide at Rosslyn Chapel! Altogether, this is a tour we highly recommend!!

Recent visit to Rosslyn Chapel, Dunfermline Abbey and Stirling Castle

This was a good way to get to see three different places in one day that might have been difficult to get to on public transportation. I felt it was a good value.

Do it with a different company

When we arrived to the Abbey it was closed and they didn’t open it for us in the time we were there. The guide suggested the museum but he should had known that the museum opened until 11 and we were leaving at that time. The volume of the guides microphone was not loud enough to cover the bad noise from the van. Even I asked twice to raise the volume, from the mid to the back of the van it’s not possible to hear. So sadly I wasn’t able to hear any of the guide’s description. The places are absolutely beautiful to visit it better with a different company
