Great Scottish history and tales

Scott was our driver. Je was very knowledgeable and told us all about Scottish history. I was amazed at how much he knew off the top of his head, while driving too! The stops were timed perfectly (as long as all the riders returned at the appointed time). This is a very long day trip so if you book it, you want someone to tell marvelous tales.

Did a lot of research before choosing a tour company in Edinburgh, Timberbush had great reviews and great choices for day trips. We took 3 day trips, loved them all! Stuart was our guide for our trip to Doune Castle, stop with the Highland Coos, and Inveraray Castle. His vast knowledge of Scottish history was fascinating! He pointed out several things along the way that weren’t stops, but great to learn about. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him! Our last day trip was the highlight of our trip, Loch Ness, Glen Coe, The Highlands. Our guide was Stevie B. His humor was a welcomed addition to our day in the Highlands! Was impressed with his control over the very big bus on the small, windy roads! His knowledge of Scottish history was also impressive! This is the tour company you want to book! The check in team at our meet spot was well organized, every day trip went smoothly! Don’t stress about your vacation here! Leave the driving to professionals so you can relax and enjoy the gorgeous countryside!

Stevie behind the wheel.

We had a great trip in bus 2 with Stevie behind the wheel. The most beautiful scenery, Stevie's exciting stories spiced with his cool humor made this trip absolutely fantastic. We are still counting sheeps 🐑

Great tour and guide, Stevie B. Learned a lot about Scottish history. Couldn’t believe how much we fit into 1 day. And my daughter got to see some hairy coos!

Touring the Highlands

The tour was well-planned and our guide, Connor, was very knowledgable and humorous. We got to visit the Highlands and took a cruise on the Loch Ness. It was an amazing tour. Highly recommended!

Great tour

Going out on cruise on Loch Ness was exciting. Also learning that one of our ancestors Sir Christian Forbes successfully defeated the Urquart castle from British attacks. The highlands were extremely beautiful! Smooth trip

It was a great trip! A little long (12h) but worth it. Glencoe it's just fantastic! The guide was fun also.

Stunning Highlands

The Highlands were truly stunning and a highlight of our trip to Edinburgh. Our guide was excellent and made the long bus ride very interesting. It felt very "Scotland," and I would definitely recommend taking a day to do this!

Wonderful day trip at the Highlands

Great trip with stunning views, awesome stops and cool visits to Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness. Our busdriver / tourguide Mark made the tour complete with very interesting and entertaining history lessons and stories during the trip.

Excellent tour guide with stunning views

We are glad to have Mark as our tour guide. He is a good driver and a responsible tour guide. He prepared a considerate travel schedule and gave us lots of check points for photo taking and rest. He is a cheerful person and passionate in introducing the history of Scotland to us. He gave us a memorable moment in the Highlands!

A Special and Spectacular Scotland Adventure

The most memorable parts were the interesting stories and comical commentary by Robert our tour guide. We loved his outfit and accent ...making the entire experience more authentic. Robert seemed to be very knowledgeable and proud of his country. Our big thanks to Jimmy too for a safe journey. It was clear that safety was important to both Jimmy and Robert...allowing us to thoroughly enjoy our day. Your country is stunning!

Appreciation of the performance of tour guide, Mark

The arrangement of trip is extremely excellent including the place of rest, place of having lunch, etc during the trip. I have much appreciation to the performance of tour guide, Mark. He performed very well during the trip. His introduction towards the history and everything are very good. He is the most professional tour guide I have ever seen.

Great but long day- guide John was the best!

If you want to see the highlands and some key areas in one hit, this is the way to do it. You cover alot of ground over the 12 hours. Cons are being on a bus for a long time if you are an active person. The stops are well spaced out though so you can get fresh air and stretch the legs. John was very informative, was able to keep the group engaged and commentated most of the trip, entertaining and fun. Do it, see some amazing landscapes just prepare to be on a bus for extended periods of time, but there really is no better way to so much in one day. Thanks John! You made it so much easier. 👍🏼

Informative, scenic tour with great tour guide

So glad we did this day trip! Got to see some amazing spots and learn loads of historical facts. It is a long drive but luckily our guide John was funny and an engaging story teller. Loved his jokes and his energy

Long day, but wonderful tour!

Driving through the highlands was magnificent…. Absolutely breathtaking. We visited the castle and did the half cruise back- outstanding! Nice stops, ( the little cafe stop was great - food, bathrooms and COWS! ); the last stop was underwhelming. By the time we arrived, mostly everything was closed. It was a long day, but well worth it! I would have like another stop or two for pictures/stretch my legs but it was a great tour.

Must Do

Highly recommend this day trip from Edinburgh! We saw so much and our guide, John was very knowledgeable. He provided more info than I’ve ever received on similar tours and all of it was very interesting!!

A MUST DO!

The ride was comfortable and included enough bathroom and stretching stops along the way. The lunch spots are basic. The tour guides were both very informative and knowable about the sites and went above and beyond with answering unrelated questions to the tour. Gary is quite the historian and gave us lots of great information about our ancestry.

Excellent customer service

David is the best tour guide in Edinburgh. He cares about customer's convenient. He is also informative, funny, and helpful. Adam drives safely and smoothly during the trip to Glenfinnan Viaduct. Their service is beyond expectation and do really enjoy the trip.

Avoid

My advice to solo travellers is to avoid Timberbush Tours. Solo travellers are held in a lower regard to couples. I was very much looking forward to my Glencoe and Loch Ness tour and travelled to Scotland specifically to take photos. When I arrived promptly to join the coach, before I boarded I enquired about how busy the coach was. I was told it was a fully booked one. Fair enough. I boarded and found an empty set of two seats and sat in the window seat assuming another solo traveller would board later and take the other seat - a first come first served basis of quality of seating. However some minutes later I got prodded on the arm. The driver said about me moving so a couple could sit together and she told me to sit in an aisle seat. In the first place I don’t appreciate being prodded on the arm by the driver and the other issue is why seeing as the couple arrived later than me were they seen as their experience being of more importance than a solo traveller/as if they were children who wouldn’t cope with being in separate seats despite being on the same coach. If I had arrived after them then no problem. The issue is moving customers who have arrived first so they have a lower quality of experience than a couple who board later. Timberbush discriminates against solo travellers. Having travelled to Scotland specifically for photos I then could not take any photos as it would have been rude to lean over the passenger in the window seat. My experience with Timberbush ruined my trip. I felt so upset the whole day what with the rudeness of being prodded and then being turfed out to a lower quality seat for people who arrived after me. It should be a first come first served policy. I am aware some coach companies have a facility where customers can book particular seats (I don’t know if this facility operates in Scotland). This would be a great idea for Timberbush as customers could pre-select their seats and if a seat that they would prefer is not available they would then have the option to look at different dates instead of having a wasted day/ money. Alternatively solo travellers should be charged a lower rate as their experience is deemed less important to Timberbush. I very much regret selecting to travel with Timberbush.

A must-do experience!

John is an excellent guide and driver at the same time. He has a knack for keeping all of us engaged with his music and jokes. The only downside is, we are not able to eat hot food on the bus. 20 mins to queue for the restroom and eat at the table is just not possible, given all the tours operate around the same timing.

Great way to explore the Highlands if you don’t have a lot of time!

Definitely well worth it! We have visited the Highlands before but now that we were bringing family with us only for a few days, we decided to do this tour so we could visit as much as possible. Wendy was very knowledgeable offering a variety of information with good sense of humour that could satisfy everyone. Jamie was a very good driver and it was nice to see how polite he was with the rest of road users. Strongly recommended!!

Great tour, but bus itself was lacking

The tour was very good and the tour guide, Wendy, and the driver, Jamie were excellent. The only negative things were that the bus we had could not turn off the heater for the first part of the trip. Therefore, we were sitting next to the heat vents and my husband became sick. Luckily, Jamie was able to do something under the hood to disconnect the heat. However, Wendy was more than helpful changing our seats to swap with another passenger so we were not next to a vent. Also, I believe busses of this sort should have on board toilets as there were sometimes long stretches between stops.

The skill of the driver and the interaction with the lady who provided the info was so fun. They took care of the passengers.

A great way to see the Highlands if you don’t have much time

We have been to Scotland many times but now brining the in-laws who were visiting from Greece. We were only coming to Edinburgh for 5 days. To make the most of our time and ensure they got to experience the Highlands we booked this trip. It’s a long day but well worth it. Wendy was wonderful, making sure every was happy and telling us many stories along the way including Scottish history and information about mythical creatures. The atmosphere was kept light hearted all day by Wendy’s comments and stories. Thanks Wendy! Jamie did a wonderful job driving and we felt safe at all times even when some of those bends were pretty hairy! Thanks Jamie! We all had a wonderful time and highly recommend!

Long day but worth the effort.

Spectacular scenery, both the Highlands and the lochs. Natalie Cairns was an excellent coach driver and guide, who was able to impart stories to us in an entertaining manner. This lady deserves a medal for the long day she put in for our benefit.

Splendid Highland tour

The Loch Ness. The thing that I was expecting and could add golden memories to the trip, it’s having the opportunity to touch a hairy coo. It would have loved it.

Wendy our Guide told us excellent stories and was very kind and funny. Eddie our chauffer was a good driver. And that make the 12 hours of the tour more easy.

Loch Ness, Glencoe & The Highlands Day Trip.

Friendly, helpful and entertaining drivers and guide. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Only gripe is that the cruise on Loch Ness was a little underwhelming. More like a transfer from the castle to the bus pick-up area than a "tour". Apart from that: All good.

The beauty of the Highlands!

What a wonderful day, beginning with those adorable Highland Coos and the Kelpies. Our guide, Scott was lots of fun, as well as very knowledgeable about all of our venues. Glen Coe is nothing short of breathtaking, and the bagpipes bring one to tears. Magnificent scenery! What could be more fun then, than roaming the ruins of a castle, and hopping on a ship to scout for Nessie? It was a long day, with much distance covered, but a wonderful one.

Amazing views

Peter was an amazing driver, funny, whitty and gave great history, it was an amazing trip, highly recommend it, young or old. The views were like nothing I have ever seen. However the boat road on the Loch Ness was just that a boat ride. Great trip, professional guide

Scottish Exploration

Visiting the Scottish Highlands, the city of Oban, and the many lochs in the highlands. It was a long time on a bus, but we’ll worth the trip as I prefer not to drive in the U..K.

Magnificent Glencoe and Loch Ness

Great way to see some of Scotland's magnificent sights. Comfortable travel, great stops and a big shout out to our amazing tourguide Tom. His witty insights and tidbits contributed to the trip and made it all the more memorable.

Too long of a day.

While our guide Sean was great! Great driver and great commentary. It was just a really really long drive and our stops were not great. It's just ordinary shops and a cafe, then a town with a few restaurants. The loch ness cruise was just average. Wouldn't suggest unless you have Lots of time to kill. We left a little before 8am and got back at almost 9pm

Worth the time and money

Great guide and driver. Stops for photo opportunities as well as the necessary stretch of the legs and other needs. Willing to answer questions and provide information about the area and history.

The best day tour!

An amazing day trip up to Loch Ness and the Highlands! Can’t believe how much we were able to see on a one day tour. Our tour guide Scott was the BEST! He was so engaging, had themed music based on the area and was a great story teller. I would highly recommend!!

Awesome start to the Highlands with awesome guides

The views were amazing, plenty of stops and an awesome first tour to get yourself acquainted with the Highlands. The thing or rather person that truly elevated the experience was our guide Thom and the driver Morragh. Their wit, knowledge and interesting tidbits of information made the trip that much more special.

Love the Scottish Highlands!!!

Took Loch Ness, Glencoe & Scottish Highlands Tour in Apr 24 leaving from Edinburgh. My tour bus driver/main guide was Stevie and his counterpart was Lorna. They were both very informative over a 13-hour day while we traveling into the highlands. This tour is a MUST DO when visiting Scotland! About half the time was driving, but was broken up by comfort stops, photo stops, ice cream stops, etc. Both guides were very respectful of needing fresh air, coffee and a restroom! We visited the mountains in Glencoe, Inverness, Loch Ness and several other small towns on the drive up and back. I added an additional tour of Urquhart Castle which are ruins right along like Loch Ness…making for phenomenal, dramatic photos (the only thing missing was Nessie!!). Afternoon ended with a boat ride along the Loch Ness before heading back to Edinburgh. 5-stars to Stevie and Lorna for putting up with literally 42 people shuffling on and off the bus and entertaining us throughout the trip! Great tour company (Timberbush Tours) and brand new, comfortable bus with USB ports!! One small complaint: that we didn’t get close up pics of the furry Highlands cows ☹ (for us crazy tourists, consider stopping so we can take memorable pics!) HIGHLY recommend this tour and guides!

Fantastic Highlands and Loch Ness excursion.

Amazing trip

Our trip to the Lochness was amazing!!. Gary was extremely accommodating and patient. He was also very informed and hilarious. He made a lasting impact, so much so that my boyfriend’s catch phrase is now “hairy coo”. 10/10 best tour guide and tour around.

Amazing

Steve B the driver was who made our trip so incredibly interesting with his knowledge of his Country that Steve B. is so proud of . His music his storie telling was most interesting and so acomadating for us all. And a great sense of humor ! Truly enjoyed the day and he was the icing on the cake !

Great experience

We booked a full day tour from Edinburgh to the Highlands. The whole day was great, everything was well organised. Our tour guide was John, he is very knowledgeable shared lots of stories with us. We really had an amazing day, I would definitely recommend
