Our guide was very knowledgable about the area. The tour was a perfect length to get a feel for the area whilst hearing amazing stories about Harry Potter.

Tour with Ryan was magical!

My husband and I and our 4 teenage/young adult children loved this tour! Some of our kids are big Harry Potter fans so we booked the tour for them, but we all ended up having a great time. Ryan our tour guide was the best! He was funny, engaging, knowledgeable & entertaining. It was easy to find him at the beginning of the tour. Even though our tour had 20+ people on it we never had trouble hearing Ryan (& I’m hearing impaired). Overall it was a fun way to spend the afternoon in Edinburgh, just a wonderful experience! Would highly recommend!

A MUST DO!!!!

Oh my gosh, SARAH WAS THE BEST!!!! She knew all the tidbits and stories that I loved to hear! She knew so much about not only HP, but Edinburgh and all the little nuances of the city and how it all connects. I found this tour absolutely facinating!! I am newer to the HP fandom, but I still was able to learn SO much! I espceidally loved the stories Sarah knew about Greyfriars Bobby and how that connects to the books. I won't spoil it for you.. GO DO THIS!!!

Great tour

Tour guide was quirky and knowledgeable! Really enjoyed the tour. Only criticism was difficulty finding the meeting point as it doesn’t seem to exist as a number on high street, should change!

Our guide Callum. He was so fun, knowledgeable, and entertaining! He pointed out so many interesting places pertaining to JK Rowling and how these places inspired the Harry Potter series. Greyfriars was incredible especially in the late afternoon light… or lack there of.

Tour guide Sarah was amazing! So much wonderful Harry Potter detail and she is a true lover of the books. Great presentation and lots of fun. One of my favorite tours!

J.K. Rowling’s handprint. Diagon Alley, Cemetey where Rowlings got her inspiration! Castle Rock that looked like base of Hogwarts.

Rain or Shine - it is Potter Time

It rained for our entire walking tour . . . and by rain, I mean rain. While no one desires to spend their entire tour in rain, I would do this tour again in the rain with our tour guide: Sarah. Sarah is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all things “Potter” and life In Edinburgh. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this tour very much. I loved seeing key places that influenced JK Rowling for the HP series. Tour guide was great and made the tour interactive and fun.

Great way to see Edinburgh and learn some new Harry Potter facts!

We really enjoyed our Harry Potter tour with Calum from Sandemans tours. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and navigated the tour very well especially considering how busy Edinburgh was with the Fringe festival going on. My husband is not a huge Potter fan like I am but still found the tour highly interesting and engaging. Would definitely recommend the tour and Calum to anyone visiting Edinburgh as a great way to see the city!

A great guide and a great tour

A really good tour. Sarah Dingwall was an excellent guide. Her enthusiasm and humour were contagious, and it was easy to see she was a true Harry Potter fan herself. Highly recommended - also for people like me, who aren't incarnate fans.

Gryffindor won the house Cup - again!

The Tour with Calum was Very interesting! We loved the idea of putting people into houses and combining That with a housecup-quiz throughout the tour. It was never boring and we enjoyed it Very much. Thanks a Lot and have a nice Wedding 😁

Tour for all

This was a really Great tour. The guide Luna had fun facts and really fun quiz. She madeira the tour accesseble for wheelchair. This can be trickey as its quite steep.

Guide never showed up.

Tour guide never showed up. Waste of time and money. Never had this experience with Viator. Truly disappointed.

Great family tour

Great tour to see some of the places where jk got her ideas and inspiration. The tour guide Amy was clearly a huge fan of Harry Potter and was full of information which made it a great couple of hours .

German Jk Rowing tour April 2023

My family and I had the German tour with Harrison from Edinburgh. It was an interactive and lovely tour. we had a lot of fun and us four had a nice time. It was informative about Jk Rowlings life and the making of the Harry Potter series. We definitely recommend this tour

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

First off, a shout-out to the great Australian David, who braved a chilly afternoon in his kilt and gave us all a wonderful and insightful tour. As the name implies, the tour is Rowling-centro, but enjoy able. Again, all David 🙂

Poor understanding of service

We booked the tour and was to be the highlight of the stay. They texted the night prior to say they were canceling it. Whether it two or twenty it should be done, especially when letting someone know the night prior as you can’t book another tour at that point. We can drop the US. Would not recommend this tour..

Very interesting and fun tour

As a fan of Harry Potter, I enjoyed this tour a lot! Jen is an excellent guide, she told us so many interesting stories and facts. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who likes Harry Potter and who wants to find out what exactly inspired JK Rowling when she wrote the book

Fantastic brilliant

This was a great experience.... I'm not a big potter fan and did it as my other half is a big pot head and loves it from start 2 finish I was interested and hooked on what the guide kieron who was 100 percent loving what he does if I could give 10 stars I would 2 thank you

Great tour on a cold, wet December evening

Australian Dave was a great guide for the tour. A natural storyteller and kept the group engaged on a cold, damp December evening in Edinburgh. Learned a lot about the inspirations for characters and places in the Harry Potter series, with bits and pieces of Edinburgh history of course, and some of the life experiences of JK Rowling that brought the world this cultural icon. Harry Potter fan or not…it’s a tour worth taking.

I visited all the Main inspiration points for the writing of Harry Potter. Eva took me through the closest posible day to day writing life of JK Rowling. Props to Eva which a great tour guide 🦮☺️

Perfect afternoon in Edinburgh

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time on this tour. It gave us cool facts about both J.K.Rowling and Harry Potter, it showed us around lots of the Old Town inspirations for the movies and our tour guide Jen was amazing. I would definitely recommend for something to do in the afternoon in the city.

I had a great time and learned many new interesting about the wizarding world. The tour guide Clare made it a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend!

A must do for a HP fan

As a massive Harry Potter fan I couldn’t come to Edinburgh without doing this tour. Myself and my partner found it to be a really fun 2 hours with Australian David who had lots of information and kept everyone involved and included with a house quiz throughout. We seen parts of Edinburgh we wouldn’t have without completing this tour as well as learnt some fun facts we wouldn’t have otherwise known. Only recommendation I would have is if possible to book for an early afternoon tour in winter months, our tour was at 15.30(only time available when we were booking) and towards the end going through the graveyard/unlit areas it was very hard to see, to the point one lady tripped on steps and fell and I used my phone torch while walking. Would highly recommend to any Harry Potter fan visiting.

Great tour

without a doubt the hightlight of what was a brilliant weekend in Edinburgh. Alisdar was a fantastic guide really interesting and informative. I love a good walking tour and I have to say this was the best so far. I will go back again on my next visit.

Potter fun

Had a great time with fellow Potter fans. Australian David was an excellent guide and some of us who met during the tour even got dinner after.

Fun but would not recommend

I enjoyed the “extra” tips about jkrolling. About her marriage, daughter etc. I did not enjoy the political comments from our guide. Not everyone thinks her way and it really turned us off. I would not recommend based off that.

Make sure to check the time of the activity…

We booked the tour via tripadvisor and the advertised timing was 2.30pm. We showed up the next day in time and there was nobody there. After checking the confirmation it turned out that the tour was at 3.30. Since we had booked an activity at 5pm we were not able to attend the tour. We requested a refund and that was declined “because the correct time was on the confirmation”. I don’t expect a timing of an activity to change between time of booking and time of confirmation so i had not checked the confirmation in advance. All in all a poor customer attitude. Will Not use this company again.

Wonderful learning experience

It was a wonderful experience and our tour guide - Australian David made it so much more interesting by making it interactive with Harry Potter trivia thrown in between interesting facts about Harry Potter and JK Rowling’s inspiration from her life, friends and family and the places around her. Loved the tour and enjoyed every bit of it. A big thanks to our tour guide for making it so enjoyable !

Harry Potter and the Tour Guide

The tour was brilliant. What made it was our guide, Jo, and I don’t think I ever want to do a tour again without her leading it. She was very enthusiastic and clearly knew a lot about Harry Potter and the history of JKR. She spoke to everyone individually throughout the walks and myself and my partner were thrilled to find out I shared common ground with Jo! She was an utter delight. Back to the tour - I am an avid Harry Potter fan of the films and the books and I learned a lot of things I didn’t know on this tour. It was fantastic. Not even the rain could spoil it!

We have a great time, and our guide Jo was amazing. She really knew the stuff and we has a ball. Would recommend it for everyone, young and old.

Amazing time !

Very nice guy I forgot his name but the whole tour was extremely interesting and valuable. We went to a lot of places around town and really showed us places you wound not imagine were part of the the plot for the books.

It was good considering im not a HP fan and went with my niece. It was good to hear about JK Roling and her life.

Magical Experience!!

Really enjoyable experience! Australian David was so nice and friendly and he really made the experience fun and memorable! Great mixture of cultures and ages attended and everyone was smiling the whole way through with some fun yet competitive hogwart house quiz questions. I would highly recommend this tour 🧙‍♂️🧙‍♀️

3F’s: Fantastic, Funny & Fascinating!

We loved it! Jen is a wonderful guide. She let us into Edinburgh’s history through Harry Potter’s JK Rowling’s world, explaining the city in various ways that were totally unexpected and very interesting. The part about the city’s witchcraft tradition was very moving. If you’re a HP fan, you’ll learn lots of info around the making of the book and the links with Edinburgh. Quite sad we learned Robbie Coltrane passed away not long after we ended the tour. We drank to his memory and for the eternal Hagrid he was. But again, great experience! So Jen’s mom, congratulations on raising up such a great human being and an amazing tour guide!
