A great introduction to whisky, Glengoyne alone is worth the trip

The best: - The Glengoyne distillerie is a gem. It's so well-thought out for tours and tastings and the guides are nice and very knowledgeable. 10/10 - Loch Lomond was gorgeous - The Oak Tree inn in Balmaha where everyone ate had really good food - Our tour guide Leo was fun and provided some great information about Edinburgh, Stirling and wherever else we happened to be. The not so great: -Deanston was not a great distillery to visit, as the tour guide warned us. It was underwhelming, especially after visiting the vastly superior Glengoyne. The Deanston whiskies are good, but they just don't put much effort in the visit. It's a shame, they have an interesting location and setup. Rabbies should make people visit this distillery first, so that Glengoyne stays the lasting impression.

Willie was knowledgeable and friendly! Loved this tour and the extra info he brought to the drive about the history of the countryside and the villages we were passing through. Both distillery tour guides (Joel at Glengoyne and Kenny at Deanston) were engaging and friendly!

Great Experience!

It’s a great experience and David was a great driver/tour guide, it’s amazing all the histories and knowledge, we have the luck to have him. Both distilleries have their own characteristics and for lunch at Loch Lomond was good.

would not call it a whisky tour

Our guide Andy was awesome- extremely knowledgeable and funny and i learned a lot and we had a great group of people on the tour. However, although i enjoyed the distillery tour at glengoyne, having only two minuscule tastings was quite disappointing and at deanston it was the same 2 minuscule pours in a room that was very cold and uncomfortable. i would have expected a tasting of 4 at each-from past experience.

Malt whisky tour

Kylie (if spelt her name right lol) was a great tour guide and took us to see the kelpies cause it was only 2 of us and had time before the 1st distillery, also great on local information regarding what happened in the area, defo recommend to other people to go on this trip

Jim Borland and the trip: Fantastic

It was a very good experience! Special shout out to Jim Borland from Rabbies tour, he was very lively..entertained us the whole way and explained to us more about Scotland and its history, sightseeing and heritage. Also the music played on the Benz car was really giving us the feels of Scotland highlands and lowlands! Would recommend him and would love to visit again. :) thanks Jim!

Enjoyable day trip out of Edinburgh

5 star experience with guide Jim Scott to visit 2 distilleries and see the Scottish countryside outside of Edinburgh. Jim regaled us with information about Edinburgh, Scotland, scotch, Scottish music and bits of other trivia. His energy for all things Scottish is boundless. The tour was well organized and the visits to the distilleries were enjoyable. We stopped for lunch at a pub recommended by Jim and I relented to try haggis, which I did not know are made from ground lamb - this almost vegetarian liked them! So glad I took a day out of my week in Edinburgh to join this excursion.

Great tour. William and Lizzy, our tour guides were terrific! Funny, informative, lots of historical stories, which may or may not be true...doesn't matter! Distilleries are fun. Learned lots and got to drink scotch!

First Class Tour

The tour at Glen Goyn distillery was first class. Our tour guide Sinclair did a fantastic job. Great experience overall.

Educational tour

This tour gets you out into the countryside. First stop was at Glengoyne Distillery. The tasting part of it was very educational. The host was very knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about whiskey. Stopped in a little town for lunch, which was quite good. Also stopped by Sterling Castle for pics. The bus driver/tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Scotch tasting in beautiful countryside - you can't go wrong

We had a great day on our tour. JP, our guide, was knowledgeable and entertaining, and deftly blended commentary, jokes, and Scottish music. The distilleries were both informative and interesting, though the Glengoyne tour was more comprehensive than the Deanston tasting. Very much enjoyed the chance to stretch our legs at lunch at Loch Lomond, and to take in the beautiful views. Very well organized and I'm glad we did it.

A trip well taken

This tour is well worth doing if you want to visit a couple of distilleries, find out how whiskey is made, do some tasting, and see the beautiful Highland countryside. Our driver, Sinclair, was terrific; careful, punctual, entertaining and knowledgeable.

Decent but could have been half the time

Our driver Neil was friendly and did his best to make it an enjoyable trip. Glengoyne brought their A-game and gave a wonderful tour. However, Deanston basically rushed us in and out in 15 or 20 mins. It didn’t help that 2 of the 6 people in our tour group dominated the tour with questions and one of them didn’t even like whiskey. I wish people had found a way to redirect her a bit. I wouldn’t burn a whole day for this tour again and would have found my own way.

Carefree whiskey adventure!

Wonderful day in the country learning and enjoying whiskey! Rabbie’s did a great job timing the trip perfectly between the distilleries and lunch. First stop at Glengoyne was an amazing trip through the history of whiskey making at a historical distillery. Lunch was wonderful and delicious; with Rabbies’ orchestrating a no wait table for the group. Deanston was a really cool distillery with an interesting and delightful modern history. They did a good job knowing what we already did and adjusted the tour just for us. Loved this tour!

Glengoyne distillery was a really beatiful place. Staff at the distillery were extremely nice and passionate about their work. Our driver/tourguide Ian was awesome in every way.

Very interesting. The girl who gave us the tour and tasting was great. Really new her product and explained what to look for when evaluating good whiskey’s.

Great tour!!

Driver Graeme was absolutely splendid. He has a way of keeping things interesting. The Glengoyne distillery was amazing 5/5 stars. Our tour guide laurna was amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable and really knew her whiskey. The tasting was great and came paired with chocolates. You even get a discount at the shop if you do a tour. The lunch at the Inn near loch was cute and quaint. The food selection is pretty good and the quality of the food is also pretty good 4/5 stars for sure. Deanston Distillery was disappointing at best. The tour by Andy was 15 minutes and the tasting was 2 minutes. We saw a few barrels in a warehouse and the tour ended. Our group spent more time in the shop then we did in the tour itself. 1/5 stars at best. Coach van was very comfortable and a relatively smooth ride. Overall a great tour but please switch from using Deanston to ANY other distillery or another historic site!!

Wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Our driver Stuart was great. I recommend this tour. Definitely worth the time and money.

Great Trip - Awesome Guide

David is a fascinating person with great stories. Everything went smoothly and he told us about the rich history of the areas where we were traveling. The guides at the distilleries were also very knowledgeable and personable.

A beautiful outing

We wanted to get out of the city a little and this was perfect! We got some tidbits of the area history, 2 Distilleries and a great stop at Oak Tree Inn for a beautiful lunch. Andrew was an amazing host, answering all our questions. Thank you!

We took a 1-day whisky tour with Rabbie's Edinburgh. Special thanks to Roger, for driving us around safely all day and for his enthusiastic storytelling along the way. We had a great day and we learned a lot about whisky and Scottish history. His wife is a lucky lady and should be proud of him!

Glengdoyne is a gem.

Glengoyne was first rate! Absolutely loved the place. Very friendly, elegant. Knowledgeable staff. Excellent. Second distillery was a major disappointment. Could do without. The coach was very good. Really comfortable ride. Especially since one of our party is 6.5 feet. Needed the space.

Simply fantastic.

Simply amazing tour filled with Scottish history and lore, not to mention the whiskey and yours. Learned a lot and would definitely recommend. These guys should do a podcast series!

Great value

The service provided for the tour operator is good and this staff is absolutely kind. How ever, even though, the Glengoyne experience in pretty complete, the one at Deanston is very simple, at for my group wich we are a little bit more experienced in the whisky topic. I would prefer to spend less or none time in a couple of sight seeing stops and more at the second distillery. As close up, I must say that for the paid money it was worth it.

Had a lovely day touring two distilleries with Sean. He's an excellent guide - very knowledgeable and not at all overbearing or repetitive. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour with Sean - highly recommend!

Great tour with Sean. Visited two distilleries with a stop for lunch at a lovely little pub on Loch Lomond as described. But Sean also threw in a few ad-hoc stops at Forth bridges, Sterling castle and Doune Castle which was much appreciated. He also entertained us with Scottish stories and music which made the journey even more memorable. Great tour!

Great distillery tour!

We felt privileged to have Grant as our guide. He is very passionate about whiskey what it means to his heritage. The tour was informative and a great day seeing the Scottish countryside. The two distilleries were a fair contrast of traditional and modern distilling in Scotland. Also we really enjoyed the lunch on Loch Lomond with our group. Grant and the driver Colin were as delight and we would highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide Ewan was excellent. He made the experience fun and was very knowledgeable of history. We had great tours and tastings at both distilleries.

Absolutely amazing!

In short: just absolutely amazing! Our driver Adam (from new zealand) was not only a excellent driver, he had some obstacles like closed roads and still managed to get us everywhere right on time but he was also an excellent storyteller. Putting the right amount of funny jokes in his stories. He let us listen to some songs that he was telling us about (not just random songs like with other tours I was on) and when he noticed that we were a little bit tired he didn't bother us with facts, he let us sleep. His energy is unmatched, give this man a raise! The tours through the distilleries were good although I personally liked Glengoyne more because of its astehtics. The tasting was also very good and interesting, I am a beginner and didn't feel left out. Props to our group, very friendly and kind people, we got to know eachother a little bit better in a lovely pub during lunch. I recommand to take a walk after the lunch because the shore of loch lomond has some beautiful views. And last but not least: every stop had a toilet! (Might not seem relevant but believe me, you'd appreciate it)

Best Tour!

Our tourguide Adam was very nice and kind (the best tourguide we had during our entire stay!). Always had a good story, joke or some interesting piece of trivia up his sleeve. The tour was amazing aswell, the first distillery -Glengoyne- was beautiful, just the way you would imagine a romantic little small town distillery and their whisky was delicious. The second - Deanston - was more of an industrial scale but still interesting and definitely go for the option of tasting two whiskies. The lunch was in a nice rustic little restaurant right by the shore of Loch Lomond and even with some time to take a little walk. This was definitely the most enjoyable tour we did here in Scotland.

Fun day learning about malt whisky with Ewen

Ewen was a most entertaining tour guide...he had us laughing during the drive. We had a lovely lunch and experienced 2 very different malt whiskies. The day was very enjoyable! A+ for Ewen!

Good

Glengoyne was very good,but Deanston was not interesting at all after Glengoyne,and not as good whiskey,and to little whiskey in the glasses.But it was a nice trip with a very good driver/speaker.Hard to hear sometimes.

Great experience!

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Grant as guide. He was fantastic. We got to spend enough time at each stop, which I was worried about when browsing other trips that try to fit in a ton of stops, and the Glengoyne distillery tour in particular was so interesting and informative. We learned a lot more than expected all around and would definitely recommend this to others.

Great distilleries, great tour guide, great food

Grant was an amazing driver and tour guide. Full of passion, enthusiasm, and spot-on humour. The van we traveled on was faulty and so we had to wait a bit for a replacement at the beginning of the tour. But the rest of the tour more than made up for the initial hiccough. Glengoyne and Deanston are both great distilleries - so this tour is ideal for those starting to try out whiskies and enthusiasts alike. The optional lunch at Loch Lomond was also delicious. Shout out to Grant if he sees this - we did enjoy the tour a lot!

An absolutely fantastic tour by our guide Duncan!! We laughed our way through the Scottish landscape and also learned so much about the history. Will definitely go with Rabbie’s again if I visit Edinburgh.
