Lovely tour of the highlands

Had a wonderful time on this three-day tour, and learned a lot about Scottish history, myths and legends thanks to our driver Joe, who was also a fantastic guide, with a great sense of humor, so if you happen to go on a tour with him, it's going to be a fun trip (and a safe one). The landscapes are magical, the museums are definitely worth visiting, and the Aye Stay lodging in Inverness was impeccable. We were lucky enough to be on Skye on the only day when it did not rain, so those who fancied it were able to go on a short hike on the Quiraing (absolutely stunning!). Mind you, this trip only gives you a taste of what Scotland has to offer, so for those of you who are avid nature lovers, you might want to come back and explore at your own pace.

Best trip ever!

We did the three day tour through the Highlands and the Isle of Skye and we couldn't be more happy to have Cameron as our tour guide. He took us to many emblematic places in Scotlands History and also to viewpoints from where we could see wonderful lochs, glens, fields, cliffs and waterfalls. His knowledge on Scotland´s history, geography, folklore and mythology is absolutely overwhelming! Best tour our family has ever had!

Memorable 3days in Highlands!

A great 3 day tour of Highlands covering all the major highlights of the region. Wish we could have spent more time absorbing the scenic setting. Ian, our tour guide and driver, made the 3 days equally enjoyable with his knowledge and wit 😀. Highly recommended.

Great tour and guide, not a great company

The tour guide was phenomenal and for that reason I would definitely go again! However, the company Highland Experience Tours is not the best is something goes wrong. On our tour, someone got hurt and needed to go get medical care. But as a result we missed out on a lot of Skye! I asked the company for a (small) partial refund since we spent hours trying to find the hospital instead of the planned itinerary but they said no since the “reserve the right to change itineraries.” There’s a big difference between a slight itinerary change and what happened, so their lack of support was upsetting. Otherwise the tour was really great and I would give our guide Keith 5 stars!

Unforgettable adventure to Isle of Skye

What a wonderful adventure our tour guide Iain took us on! The tour is packed with activities! The days are long, but I truly enjoyed all the sites and stops we made along the way! The accommodations were standard! The breakfast in the morning had a variety of foods to get us started for the day! The weather was great and only had a few moments of light rain! Our guide Iain truly made it unforgettable! He made the 3 days run smoothly! I would recommend anyone who wants a stress free adventure to book Highland Adventures!!

Great experience

The tour was great. Keith Wilson is an amazing, knowledgeable guide who was flexible and accommodated requests. He kept the group safe and very well entertained. The B and B at Inverness arranged was wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour.

Safe, fun, and fulfilling

As a solo young female travel I felt so comfortable with the group I was in. Ian, the guide, was very kind, welcoming and funny. I had great conversations with many other tour members and had great experiences exploring within a group. Ian knew all the best spots for photographs in the isle of Skye and has a great eye for photography (he happily took great pictures for me). This is definitely the best way to explore Scotland to avoid the hassle of renting cars and planning every little detail of your trip out.

An Amazing 3 Days

Three days with Louise our guide and John our driver. Amazing!! A great trip and we saw so much! Louise was fantastic and inspirational telling us all about Scottish history. John drove us safely through the Highlands - no mean feat. Thank you Highland Experience Tours will recommend you to friends and family.

Great driver with lots of...

Great driver with lots of interesting stories and jokes- he was very engaging with the customers. Only suggestion is reduce the 12 hour day 2 bus tour time down to 8 or 9 hours as 12 hours is exhausting!!

A great 3 day introduction to the Highlands and Skye

We had such an amazing time on our Skye and Highlands adventure! This tour is absolutely packed with activities — the days are long and there's quite a bit of driving involved, but honestly, seeing and experiencing everything we did made it all worthwhile! We were incredibly fortunate with the weather, enjoying sunny skies about 99% of the time. The accommodations provided were pretty standard and had everything we needed. We mainly used the room for sleeping, and it suited us just fine. While there were a few places we wished we could have stayed longer, we never felt rushed. The time allocated at each location was just enough for us to explore and get a feel for the Highlands without feeling overwhelmed. This trip really helped us pinpoint where we'd like to spend more time in the future and which places we'd love to revisit when we have more leisurely days. Our guide, Iain, truly made this trip unforgettable. Right from the beginning, it was evident how much effort and thought he had put into creating an engaging experience for us. From his carefully curated playlists and captivating stories to his openness to questions, clear instructions at each stop, helpful recommendations, and even a few surprises along the way, we felt incredibly fortunate to have Iain leading our journey. We had a fantastic time from start to finish and wouldn't hesitate to book with Highland Experience Tours again. If and when we return to Scotland, we might just have to request Iain as our guide once more!

A great introduction to the Highlands and Skye

We really enjoyed our Skye and Highlands experience! This tour is jam packed -- the days are long and there's a lot of drive time but honestly to see and experience everything we did, it was worth it! We definitely got lucky on our tour and had sunny skies 99% of the time. The included accommodation was standard and ultimately had everything we needed. We were really only in the room to sleep and it met our needs. Though there were some stops we would've loved to stay longer, we didn't necessarily feel rushed and the amount of time allotted at each location was enough for us to explore and get to know the Highlands without having to stress about planning everything. This trip helped us figure out where we'd want to spend more time in the future and where we'd want to visit again when we have more time. Our guide, Iain, made this a really memorable trip. From the start it was easy to see the time and intention he's put into creating an engaging experience. From curated playlists, stories, open time for questions, very clear expectations for each location, recommendations, and even a few surprise stops and moments, we felt lucky to have Iain as our guide. We had a great time from start to finish and wouldn't hesitate to book with Highland Experience Tours again and if/when we come back to Scotland, we'd love to request Iain as our guide again specifically!

Saw as much as possible; guide was the best

Our tour guide, Mark, was fantastic. Wonderful. The best. Great story teller. He was fun, knowledgeable, organized, flexible, and generally upbeat. I can’t imagine having anyone else as a guide now. Also, he was a great, safe driver who made maneuvering that minibus look easy. Can’t say enough good things about Mark. Great tour.

Real scottish experience - a must do!

We really enjoyed the experience! The scenery was amazing, the tour was well-organized with enough 'comfort breaks' to stretch ourselves and the accommodation offered was very good. We stayed 2 nights in Inverness at Moyness and it was sparkling clean and comfortable, the breakfast was tasty and the owners were very kind and accommodating. The cherry on top was our guide-driver, Paul. He really offered us a scottish experience, telling us historical tales and fun facts, accompanied by scottish music. He was very knowledgeable on many topics. He created a friendly and safe atmosphere. He was really helpful with food and drinks suggestions - the best and the original Irn Bru drink is the canned one that has 1901 written on the can! :)) We really do recommend this tour and we wish you to get Paul as your guide-driver! Skye and Highlands Tour

The tour guide was an amazingly capable driver and knowledgeable tour guide. The schedule should be tweaked, 90 minutes at the battlefield was too much time and 60 minutes at Portree was not enough, some on the tour didn't eat lunch as the time was too short. Although this is hard to navigate the seats on the bus need to be rotated to be fair for visibility or the driver should not hang their jacket on the hook provided as it blocks all visibility for the traveler sitting in the seat behind the driver. The room I was assigned at the B & B was meant to be a closet. The staff were lovely but did not replace the hair dryer in my room despite being informed on Day 1 that it was not working.

Too much driving.

I only understood about 10% of what my driver/guide said. His accent was very string. Also a bit of a curmudgeon until the last day. This trip involves a lot of driving—as opposed to actually seeing/visiting sites. That being said, the scenery was beautiful.

Keith is the best!

Absolutely remarkable! My husband and I did the 3-day Isle of Skye tour with Keith. Every day we got another glimpse at how vast Scotlands beauty spans. Keith as our guide was exceptional, he was funny and lively, keeping the energy levels high all tour long. Keiths eagerness to share his experiences was welcoming and he felt like a friend by the end of the tour. I would highly recommend booking a trip where Keith is your guide. The tour itself was wonderful and we got lucky with beautiful sunny days. Highland Experience Tours really knows what they’re doing and always aims to please. As Keith said many times “this is highland Experience Tours, we are meant to Experience something.”

Travelled as. Couple. Nice to leave the driving stress to someone else and just enjoy the views . Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable on historic facts and a very good driver on the narrow roads.

Great tour packed with history, culture, and fun

This was an amazing tour! Mike was the best tour guide, giving us background on history, culture, food, drink...everything we'd want to know. He kept us on schedule so we could see as many sights as possible but was mindful of us maximizing our experience. We had a lot of questions and he had all the answers. Learned so much and had lots of fun. Would highly recommend.

Great trip

I always wanted to visit isle of Skye ! We took a 3 day tour with highland tour and it was a great experience . Such amazing views and heavenly places took us back in time . We were so much to have an amazing tour guide Micheal Clark , who went above and beyond trying to educate us and made sure we were happy . It was a long 3 day tour in the bus so be prepared to take plenty of food and drinks cause sometimes we felt rushed by time and had to eat in the bus . We had our 5 year old coming with us. D it was okay for the most part but it would been easier if we went alone . The B&B is amazing and Inverness is such a beautiful town with good restaurants to eat while you stay there . I would take the tour again with the same company and hoping for the same guide but for 4 days instead .

The Highlands and Isle of Skye

We went on the tour with our daughter and her boyfriend, driven by Keith who was incredible. With his knowledge of the area including it's history, we were treated to a most memorable trip. His wit and charm made a long ride most enjoyable and we were all very glad he was our guide.

Skye did not disappoint

What an awesome 3 days!!! JR was an exceptional guide and driver!! He knew his history and facts about all places visited. He made a couple of little stops for us to see/feed the Hairy Highland Coos…..he even brought us bags of carrots!!! We could have spent more time at Culloden, so we will definetly visit again.

3 day Whistle-stop tour of the Highlands

Our driver/guide was Neil who admitted he was a newbie but still had extensive knowledge combined with a pleasant demeanour. We stopped off on numerous occasions for photo opportunities, sometimes a little too frequently (3 or 4 waterfalls in Skye when 1 would have sufficed) which then made for a later finish than planned. The bus intercom only worked intermittently which put Neil under considerable stress at times but he coped exceedingly well under the circumstances.

Our driverHugh was excellent; knowledgable, friendly and a pleasure to be with. Sites, drive times & visits were all well planned & very enjoyable. Beautiful scenery & history. We will certainly recommend this tour to friends.

The views that we saw...

The views that we saw were awesome. The issue I have with the trip was the B&Bs and the long hours on a bus each day. . The company B & B’s used would not meet an average persons standards. The next issue is that we had a bus driver that did not stay on schedule and made so many unnecessary stops. Don’t know if the stops were required by the company. It seem like the unnecessary stops were places for us to buy things that no one was interested in. Due to the additional stops it made us have 12 hour days on a bus. We would be looking for places to eat after 8 o’clock at night.

A good tour in Scotland highlands

As Nessie enthusiasts, the highlight of our tour was exploring Loch Ness and enjoying a two-day stay in Inverness near the northeast end of the loch. The tour guide was highly knowledgeable about Loch Ness and provided detailed information on lodging, restaurants, and sightseeing in Inverness.

Amazing Highland tour!

Our tour in late April was amazing! The drive through the Highlands was spectacular! Around every bend was a more beautiful sight than the previous. It seems as though every beautiful point of interest has a lovely little legend associated with it, which adds so much to the charm of Scotland. The amount of time spent on the bus seemed just right. Just when you were tired of sitting, a stop or a scenic picture opportunity was scheduled. Our tour guide, J.R., pleasantly gave us enough facts and commentary to be informative without being annoying. He was remarkably knowledgeable and really provided a lovely atmosphere for our journey. Our accommodations were in a lovely B&B in Inverness for both nights which was quite comfortable. I felt that with the tour we were able to see quite a lot of the Highlands in the short time we had. There was so much to see on Skye that I wish we would have chosen to stay in the Highlands instead of in Edinburgh. Portree was lovely and I would have liked to have spent a bit more time exploring the little village. Those things aside, this tour was a great way for us to see a large part of Scotland. I would do it again in a heartbeat. And I would definitely recommend traveling with Highland Experience Tours as well.

Amazing tour

It was a great tour. Keith, our guide, was exceptional - he found out what we are after ( Harry Potter, Outlander, nature etc ) and tailored our tour whilst keeping the big ticket items for us to see. He had plenty of stories to share and he definitely added to the positive experience. As a solo traveller, the 3 day tour is enough in cornering and seeing relevant locations in the Highlands and Isle of Skye.

Edinburgh tour Isle of Skye

Best experience ever!!!

Keith, our tour guide made our experience extremely memorable. This is the best way to experience Scotland. We were taken to best of the places. Pics and food was extraordinary.

Great Experience with only one minor technical issue

Neal was our very competent and personable driver/tour guide. He has a great sense of humor and wonderful people skills. He took our group’s interests and preferences into consideration by adding or varying lengths of the frequent stops and went out of his way to accommodate our needs and requests. Our room at the 3 Star B&B was tiny but adequate with good plentiful breakfasts. There were 16 participants on our tour, the perfect size. The itinerary was full but not crowded and touched many of the destinations we had always wanted to visit and experience, beyond our expectations! Unfortunately the speaker system on our brand-new bus kept malfunctioning so the back of the bus missed parts of his comments but Neal handled this with grace and a lot of patience.

Trip of a lifetime!

Our driver Hugh was spectacular! He went above and beyond to ensure we not only saw the beauty and heard the history of the Highlands, but helped us make a connection to the land and people. The people we met in our group were fabulous and along with Hugh, made for a trip of a lifetime. We HIGHLY recommend this tour

just enjoy the ride

The pictures I've shared mean nothing, let me tell you a story instead: Day One - morning started with rain, half the pax were moist...to our luck we got a beast of a guide - Alexander Guthrie (relative of Thomas Guthrie?), who made every raindrop into a decent joke (also - Glasgow ain't $@%...and England. Loch Tulla - the sky mirror of a lake is absolutely the major point. Day Two - oh you wanted spoilers for this day 1? Nah, you need to see this. Fine - lakes (lochs) and mountains, whiskey if you're good. Day Three is the same - nature....But it was AGAIN absolutely stunning. Castles? Stunning! Landscape - stunning! maybe even ice-cream (w/ whiskey). Look, you will be very lucky to have Alex as a guide. But even if you don't - book it. It's legit good. Commentary and jokes by Alex - give him a raise. And if you're lucky to push your bus out of a pit - great (not the word this website allows me to use). I wish I could share more info about all days, but you just need to sit your butt down and enjoy the trip.

Circle Scotland

Our guide/driver Jamie was delightful. Overall, a good way to pack in an overview of Scotland. Accommodations, however, were well below par. Good location In Inverness, but borderline shabby room. Could also have benefitted from from get-to know-you introductions at the start of the tour.

Good trip

Tour was wonderful! Dave's our tour driver cum guide was very friendly and cracked suttle jokes. He was well informed. The bus however was not cleaned on a daily basis. So by the third day, the bus appeared quite shabby and messy. Also the sequence of the tour was altered greatly. Rest everything was good.

Perfect trip and trio

I joined the tour in April 2024, the weather was amazing (not too cold nor too sunny). Sometimes it was cloudy but it added magical scenery to the view. The tour guides (Chloe and Graham) were so friendly and gave us many information about the different places. The driver (Mike) was a great driver, friendly and very knowledgeable about the routes in Scotland. I felt that they formed a perfect trio together. I hope to join them for the next tour with longer duration. The locations we visited were amazing, we had enough time to visit almost all the nice places and take pictures in each spot. The first day we visited many lakes, the great clen and clen coe, and more. Even though the trip from Edinburgh to Inverness took almost 9 hours, but I was not able to feel the time. On the second day, we visited the Isle of Skye, and it was amazing. I hope that we could stay there more or perhaps to stay at least for single night there. However, the Isle has its own atmosphere and very recommended to visit. On the third and last day we were able to discover the Loch Ness, Uruqhart castle and a battle field. On the way back we passed through nice small town, which was very nice with flowers and colorful buildings. In overall, this was a great experience I had and would definitely try it again.

Great tour!

A truly amazing tour with Cameron, JR and Georgina! The schedule was tight but totally worth it, saw so many great places and the photo spots were expertly picked. The guide had thoroughly researched his material and the stories were lively and interesting. Learned a great deal! The driver was very skilled and we felt safe even in difficult weather conditions and on the small winding roads. The accommodations were very comfortable and hospitable. The overall atmosphere was very welcoming, can wholeheartedly recommend this experience!

Great trip and guide...bad accommodation

The guide Chloe and the driver Michael were great. The stops were well placed and interesting. My complaint is around accommodation. I would highly recommend finding your own. The old B&B was not very good and it was pretty cold when we were traveling and the B&B turned off all heat between 12 and 6. It was absolutely freezing and really a bad experience. My mom and I almost booked our own hotel for the second night. This B&B should not be used. It actually put a damper on the whole trip which otherwise would have been fantastic. The nights should be in a hotel.

Wonderful experience through the Highlands

This tour was absolutely wonderful! Chloe, our tour guide, and Michael, our driver, shared all their knowledge of their homeland with us and organised everything very well. We are very grateful for this experience and look forward to visiting Scotland again.

A sightseers dream!

What a wonderful 3 days! Guide Iain made everything easy and fun with his knowledge and humor. As a solo woman traveler, I felt completely at ease. Hotel accommodations were clean, welcoming and good breakfast. Very much worth the expense!

Breathtaking views of Highland with great fun

Had a experience of a lifetime in this three days tour of highlands that exceeded my expectation. Well paced with a fun packed itinerary and breathtaking views of Isle of Ski, Lochness, Ben Nevis, quaint little towns as Portree, Luss and Pitrorchy and not to mention the beautiful capital city Inverness.Thanks much to our tour guide “Joe” who have been the best throughout taking care of all our small needs, always on time, fun to be around and very informative with history, culture, art and music of Highlands. For me “Isle of ski” , “Ben Nevis” “Inverness/Lochness” have been the highlights.Would highly recommend to book this 3 day tour , if looking to explore Highlands.
