Great Intro to Old Dubai and history/culture

This was a really helpful intro to Dubai (my first visit). Hamza was a great guide, and packed a lot of info into our time. He covered history, government, cultural practices, and daily life. We visited two traditional houses in the interesting, but tourist-oriented, old city. We also visited multiple souks, with Hamza providing guidance on goods and general pricing before each one. Everyone in our group chose the food option, and we had plenty of food and drinks throughout.

Historic Dubai

Dubai is mostly so modern and busy that it is really a great break to wander this historic part of the city. Both the Al Seef and Souk sides of Dubai Creek are fun to explore. Our guide Saif was delightful and full of information about both history and culture.

Best Tour in Dubai

The Dubai Aladdin Tour was a fantastic journey through Old Dubai's heart. Our guide, incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining, brought history and culture to life. We explored bustling souks like the Spice Souk, our senses bombarded with sensational aromas. A traditional Abra ride across Dubai Creek offered stunning views, and the tour's highlight was indulging in delicious local treats like Arabic coffee and dates.

It could be better

Our guide, Hamza, was very knowledgeable and engaging. I learned a lot from his talks about the UAE and Muslim culture and religion. The tour started promptly at 5:30, and we enjoyed the Abra boat ride. However, the tour description was a bit misleading. The website mentions "street food tasting," which was not the case. Instead, we stopped at one street food vendor who gave us a bag of poor-quality shawarma and fried foods. The food tasting I had in mind involved stopping at different vendors and tasting various types of foods, but instead, we ate food from only one vendor. Additionally, the website says we will stop by the Museum of Illusions and Dubai Museum, which we didn't. While Hamza did a great job, the experience did not match the expectations set by the tour description.

Lovely to experience the other side of Dubai. Saif communicated clearly and we found the history of Dubai quite interesting. We would recommend this to anyone not familiar with the Dubai history.

A Glimpse of Old Dubai and the Souqs

Really enjoyed my time on the Old Dubai tour. The pick up process needs a bit of improvement, but I think this is on Viator's end, as our guide had some trouble getting in touch with us, and it didn’t show up on the app. Quick tip: when you’re booking this, make sure to include your WhatsApp and email address in the notes so that your guide can contact you. More importantly, the tour was great. Our guide, Hamza, was incredible. He was funny, engaging and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the way he lead us through the various souqs and how he gave us advice as to how to barter, etc. Plan on a warm adventure - it was really hot when we went - and bring some extra water. The tour has a few stops in AC, but it’s hot and you do walk. Totally worth it. Thanks again to Hamza for making this a worthwhile trip!

Interesting and engaging

Our guide Saife was informative and friendly, the food was lovely, it was relaxing being able to eat it on the boat ride, the souks were great to see and our guide was very good at helping us to navigate things , the boat ride was lovely at night and this tour provided a really good opportunity to learn about Dubai life from a guide whose family has lived there over generations. Book first for overview of the souks

This is our first trip to Dubai. The Aladdin tour somehow was our third time at the gold and spice souk. All the tours I’ve booked have a stop at the souks. However, Hamza’s tour provided the most thorough explanation and tips on how to navigate them (ex. How to haggle, specific price ranges for certain items). He also discussed the history of Dubai, Moslem culture, etc. Hamza was funny yet informative. One suggestion regarding the snacks. Maybe pre-print names of the snacks with pictures for the people who might be jet lagged or unfamiliar with the names but would like to order the snacks on their own later. It might help also if there’s a disclaimer that this is a “walking” tour. Seems obvious but understandable that people have an assumption that they would be driven around. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. I wish we booked this first. Thank you, Hamza.

History and sightseeing, confidence required!

For the price, this is an amazing tour. The tour guide is very knowledgeable about Dubai’s history and has a great and concise delivery, very witty as well. However, I’d advise anyone that does not do well with walking to be mindful, there is a bit of that. The market vendors can be very aggressive as well, be able to say no and be very firm while haggling. Otherwise great experience!

This is an excellent tour. Hamza is knowledgeable and has lot's of intersting tidbits of information. He has a connect with all the stakeholders on the tour speaking in their own language. He also gives you advice on any purchases that you may be looking to make on the tour. This walking tour was conducted at a leisurley pace and our guy was a friendly guy who made sure he answered all our questions. Excellent tour. Our tour guide Hamza was very knowledgeable about local history and customs! You cannot learn this at school! It is years of knowledge passed through generations. Food was very good but all came at once so it was not small samples as you went around. Hamza gave us all necessary knowledge to go around the souks and understand maximum prices for goods, so we could be confident in negotiating. Thank you Hamza for wonderful tour!

Nice experience

This was a great tour, our guide was very knowledgeable, it was interesting to visit old Dubai and the souks, we learnt about the different spices. We got to see a lot, visited some of the old houses and used the traditional ferry, was nice to try the local food and drinks. Would recommend this tour.

Totally worth it

Hamza our guide was really good! Patient and informative, he answered all our questions (they were a lot) about politics, culture or religion of the city, always trying to be objective and respectful. He gave us prices and tips so we were able to bargain with the locals without being ripped off. The tour is really well organised and for the price it is totally worth it! You get to do a lot of activities, you get water, coffee, juice, samosa a roll, tea, and a date covered in chocolate. So you will be full by the end of it! I would definitely recommend and book other activities with him.

A more traditional side of Dubai

This was a great tour to get a better understanding of Dubai's more traditional side and some history on the UAE. Hamza was a great tour guide and answered all of our questions and got us around the different neighborhoods efficiently. Highly recommend checking this out if you're in Dubai

Interesting and enjoyable, our guide was amazing!

This was a very informative and interesting tour and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We would have not been able to find all the places we visited on our own, we also received some great tips on what to pay for certain goods at the market. If you’re not keen on deep fried food perhaps don’t book the tasting options. Boat trip was a highlight, absolutely recommend this tour!

Probably the best part of our stay, really get a taste of old Dubai. Hamza was an excellent tour guide and appreciated his wealth of knowledge and history of his country and he really looked after us all. Made us all feel very at ease & had a good sense of humour. Highly recommend this tour!
