I had a great time on the 5 day wildlife tour with Sukia Travel. The highlight was the overnight stay at the Sirena Station. Our guide Evaristo was friendly and was very good at finding animals. I have spent some time in rainforests in the past and this was by far my best rainforest wildlife viewing experience. The other activities were also very worthwhile and led by knowledgeable guides. The staff at Sukia, especially Estefanie who was in charge of looking after me, were also very responsive to my needs. The hostel was clean. I would highly recommend this package for people interested in wildlife watching.

5 day tour with Sukia: march 2024

Unlike no place I have visited before, Corcovado is an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. Estefanie at Sukia makes it her mission to welcome and take care of all the visitors to the hostel, we felt very welcome. The hostel is up to Central American standards: we stayed in dorms. If you want your Corcovado trip organised and activities bokked and ready for you, you can't go wrong with Sukia. I highly recommend the 5 day tour.

Great wildlife tour in Corcovado!

I had a great time with Sukia Travel in Corcovado , highly recommend the wildlife tour :) First the night walk tour with Sergio was really cool, we saw spiders, snakes and colourful frogs! Sergio wouldn’t give up till we saw them was great. Then the overnight stay in Corcovado with Michael as a tour guide through it was truly an awesome experience - we saw tapirs, a bunch of kwatis, pigs, all four type of monkeys, tucans, a sloth, many many birds - was amazing! Just wish we would’ve spent more time in the park the second day. Also would be great if they would let even less people in but overall didn’t feel crowded , our small group was really nice and we had a fun time. Without Michael we would not have seen most the animals, we learned a lot from him and he took some amazing pictures. Thanks again Michael! The Cano Island snorkelling trip was also a lot of fun, swam with turtles and lots of colourful fishes! And at end of the tour the mangrove boat return with Charlie was awesome too, saw lots of birds (also the stick bird!) , some crocodiles, monkeys…the mangroves were beautiful. Thanks again all for then good times, also Estefanie for the nice introduction and smooth logistics! Would love to come again ( and recoup my sunglasses from some monkey in the park hah) - next time would love to see the pumas and jaguars ! Pura vida :)

Magical trip!

The experience with Sukia Travel was just amazing! It was organized perfectly and the guides were awesome! We learned so much about the country and the jungle as well as the whole ecosystem and we saw so many animals and amazing plants. You really notice that the guides want you to have the best experience ever! They answered all our questions. The stay in Sirena at Corcovado was magical, we saw a tapir eating leaves on the beach. That was unforgettable. But also just hearing the jungle sounds with all the birds and monkeys was so cool! And we loved how the guides wanted you to see everything but at the same time really respected the nature and the space of the animals and were not just bothering them so we can get closer. That was very positive in our opinion! It was perfect! Thank you so much!

A truly memorable trip with a brilliant company

What a wonderful way to complete our time in Costa Rica with this wildlife tour run by Sukia travel. Every day of this tour delivered incredible experiences that were enhanced by the amazing passion and expertise of the guides who are part of the Sukia travel team. Our stay at Sirena ranger station was very special, walking through this amazing and completely unspoilt rainforest to see animals from anteaters to tapirs. However the stunning birdlife and the majesty of the forest were especially memorable. The snorkeling tour, with expert divers accompanying us to point out the many turtles gently grazing in the sea and magnificent fish wherever we turned, was further enhanced by the sighting of a mother humpback whale and her calf swimming south. The mangrove tour was a relaxing, yet exhilarating time to see such a diversity of birdlife, including the master of camouflage, the common potoo. Only the skills of our guide enabled us to work out the aptly named bird since it also goes by the name of stick bird! Overall this trip was so thoroughly recommended since the passion for nature of the entire team, coupled with the importance of preservation and authenticity make this a unique and special experience. Every member of the team also went out of their way to ensure that we were so well looked after. This is a very special travel company!

Excellent experience

Sergio and Raquel did a great job of coordinating our trips and letting us know. Given the nature of the trips, pointers on what to pack might have been useful, but that's above & beyond, and otherwise I have no a bad word to say. Loved the accommodation at Cabins Murilla, enjoyed all the activities, great guides. Highest praise for Evaristo, who is hands down the best guide we've had and who took us around La Sirena at Corcovado.

This is the Tour you are looking for if you want to see the wildlife of Costa Rica

When you think you have seen it all only to see more, they really deliver on their promise to help you see as much as possible. Let me start by saying not everything was perfect, there were small issues and frustrations and yet overall this is by far the best tour we have ever done. It includes elements from other suppliers so the trip is effectively reliant on both the Sukia team and their partners. It is clear there are strong relationships between these and it pays off Overall this is about as good as it gets. The actual location of their shop - where we had our first meal was awesome, watching out as the sunset and the scarlet Macaws flying across the skyline looking out towards Cano Island. The Night hike was amazing, seeing numerous of our hoped for sightings including Tent Making Bats and Poison Dart Frogs., The diving trip to Cano was an experience whereby we saw a Humpback Whale and its calf attempting various displays both on the way there and on the way back, with a dolphin performing backflips in the background. On the dives there were plenty of White tip Reef Sharks as well as Porcupinefish Scorpionfish to name a few. I'd hope for a smooth crossing and calm seas around Cano as we were a but unlucky on that front, The overnight trip to Sirena Station in Corcovado was probably the true highlight with Ranger Stephen guiding us, again there was an interesting crossing both ways but once you was there - WOW WOW WOW - Coatis, Snakes, all types of monkeys, Bats, families of Tapirs (one being stalked by a croc) more birds than you would think possible. Spending the night at the station is an experience in itself ((Top tip take a towel and hire the wellies if it's muddy) There was so much to see, finding Jaguar prints although not seeing them was still great! The arrays of brightly coloured lizards and spiders, preying Mantis barely scrapes the surface! The accommodation at Tortuga was great and well located being themed in turtles, you could walk to the beach (Which was the start point of several of the trips) there was a super market within walking distance and a nice walk to the Sukia shop. Most trips ended up with a meal after with your newfound friends from the boat or tour which was always good. It is then topped off by a riverboat tour of the Mangroves which did not dissapoint, seeing our first Sloths, various species of Monkey and crocodiles as well as the plethora of birds including Kingfishers. You begin with a tour around some islands that were apparently filmed as part of the Jurassic Parc franchise and you can see why. with Magnificent frigate birds circling. We spotted Turtles, A Boa constrictor in a tree and so many lizards and Iguanas even spotting the bridge bats. The elements were well put together and a lot of effort was clearly put into designing the tour to maximise exposure to wildlife, this is not the cheapest tour available and I am sure you could put parts of the tour together yourself however I would have total faith in recommending Sukia Tours to ensure you get the best possible experience The not so goods to sum up, pre travel contact was a bit sporadic due to the team being out in the field, there was issues with the price and inclusions on the website (Which they did make right for us after some lengthy discussions) which did worry us slightly. There was additional charges for paying by any type of card (Including debit cards) which was not always clear although seems to be a thing in Costa Rica. This meant to avoid additional charges we had to take cash with us (It would have been challenging withdrawing it in Costa Rica and I don't believe possible in and around Drakes Bay. There was a couple of times we felt there was a lack of communication and some of the time keeping was a little more laid back than we was used to. Some of the communication would have been helpful on needing towels in Sirena station and not being able to take anything from Drakes Bay foodwise. We had an issue around diving and one of the days where my wife had a less than ideal experience due to conditions where we were asked for additional payments that the dive centre had said would not be required. It was a bit awkward when we were chased for this payment. To be fair Sukia did the right thing with this but again it wasn't the ideal ending to our trip and was certainly not a reasonable request given the circumstances. That said these were minor issues that are unlikely to reoccur so be safe in the knowledge these are tiny niggles nothing more. David and Sergio were great and we would love to come back at some point for another tour with Sukia Tours!

When you think it cannot get any better than this… and then it does - our feeling every single day

Mangroves, secluded beaches, jungle hikes, mammals, dives, boat trips, birds, insects, night tours, dolphins, waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys, looking up at a million stars in the night sky. The Osa Peninsula has been a treat. An experience to never ever forget. A dream come true. Thanks to the best guides we could ask for. Sergio, for teaching us about vipers and frogs on our night tour. Steven, for guiding us through Corcovado National park, letting us feel, smell and hear the incredible nature, showing us all of the animals we were hoping to see. Daniel, for showing us the wonders of the underwater world at Caño Island, checking off more animals off our wishlist. And David, for giving us the cherry on top full adrenaline with an amazing canyoning trip through the most remote primary forests. Five days that could fill a lifetime of adventures. And we loved every single second.

True Adventure Stewards for the Jungle

Ambassadors for the Osa, Sukia is the model for CR’s ecotourism. David, Andre and their crew of guides have a reverence for conservation that parallels their deep knowledge of species and habitats. Unlike most guides that give you a litany of names, they speak to the symbiosis of micro ecosystems and the environment. As seasoned travelers we prefer less touristy experiences thus chose the 6 day adventure package. It began with a night hike where we saw about 20 species including the famed red eyed dart frog and fer de lance viper. A good start to the 100+ recorded species over the 6 days. The next two days was kicked off with a 15 mile hike into the Corcovado National Park. The payoff was well worth sliding down vines and watching out for tarantulas. Dinner and rest was at a locally managed lodge with the best hosts. If you can, avoid staying at Sirena station. Next up was a hike/swim through a canyon with lots of waterfalls to stay refreshed. While there’s a few places you repel down it’s not a climbing excursion. The perspective of the jungle from the river is unprecedented. Sukia is the only company to offer this experience in Drake Bay. The following two days were on and in the water. We were fortunate to witness humpback whales nursing their young before heading north. Snorkeling with sea turtles and schools of Jack fish kept us entertained. On shore the guides cracked coconuts and we sampled fresh bites. Our last day we cruised through mangrove forests on the Sierpe River, a world heritage site. There we marveled at the white faced monkeys and their playful antics. The river is teeming with wildlife and birds including crocodiles, sloths, macaws, herons, boas and bats to name a few. By the end of our 6 days we had befriended our traveling companions and guides. I remain in awe at how they can see a speck of movement and call out the litter frog camouflaged atop a leaf. This is truly a magical place worth preserving. The ministries of environment and tourism need to take notice.

Corcovado 5 days trip by Sukia Travel

Great job by Sukia Travel - very kind small team who organized all around the trip and always replied very quick to any question regarding the stay. Happy to have made the 5-days trip to Corcovado. We had a great housing in Drake Bay (Sunset Villas), the overnight in Corcovado was awesome since there was more time for each tour. The 2 dives (upgrade from snorkeling) in Cano were nice, great amount of white tip sharks, turtles, rays and plenty of smaller fish. Only the corals were mostly dead. The last day we had a great guide and captain on the Mangrove tour, saw plenty of animals which we haven't yet seen in Corcovado - really worth it! Equipment according to tropical weather, since thunderstorms can happen at any time - we saw plenty of visitors with jogging shoes, maybe not the best option :) thanks a lot for this great experience!

Great adventure Tour

I did a 6 day Tour.night tour, overnight, canyoning, mangrove Tour and a diving day. Davide made me feel welcome and not like a number. I also appreciated that he considered different restaurants and different tour operators. The money was well spent within drake bay. We saw lots of wild life and had some beautiful hikes. I can highly recommend Sukia travel and the 6day tour is a good start into Costa Rica.

Unforgetable - came because of Corcovados Natur, gone with new friendships

We booked the whole package. Nighttour, Caño Island Tour, Overnightstay in Corcovado, Mangrovetour because a friend recomended SukiaTravel. We were not disapointed. David and André enabled us one of the best weeks in our lives. Althought we were in Costarica one month already André could show us a lot in the nationalpark. He knows secrid spotes where you will find rar animals (monkeys, tapirs, snakes, spiders (;-) ect. David was always available to answer questions via whatsapp during our stay and made the whole experience very easy. They organised all of our meals at local restaurants and the local cuisine is so healthy and tasty. There was just one point could be better, there was no hammrock in our small lodge (but that was the fault of the sunset lodge, not Sukias) Overall, this was an amazing trip in an amazing place. We just can say thanks Sukia and will DEFINITLY recommend the guys. (If mi family would asked me what to see in Costarica i'd say just go to SukiaTravel, they will show you)

Aunthentic, easy and great fun!

An amazing experience. Accommodation was lovely - A lodge in the jungle overlooking the beautiful beach at Drake bay. The guides David and Carlos were funny and very knowledgeable of the nature and animals in and around the area. The overnight stay in Corcovado National park was a highlight for me as we got to see such a variety of animals from Tapir to crocodiles to monkeys, as well as hiking almost 50KM through some truly beautiful rainforest and swimming in several secluded waterfalls. David was always available to answer questions via whatsapp during my stay and made the whole experience very easy. They organised all of our meals at local restaurants and the local cuisine is so healthy and tasty. Overall, this was an amazing trip in an amazing place. Thanks Sukia!

Great time

We were on a 5 day wildlife tour with Sukia travel agency guys. It was really great, David and Andrew did everything so we could see more nature and animals, gave us very good suggestions about clothing, equipment, prices, etc. The contacted us all the time and we always knew ahead what is our next trip or activity. We were asked about our food preferences, helped with directions when we were on our own time. They helped us to have a great time!

An Excellent Trip You Won't Forget

We had a great time in our experience of trekking and camping, with our guides David and Andre. They were very knowledgeable on the landmarks, nature, and animals. I highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to visit Costa Rica, and have an experience that they won't forget.

A wonderful experience

Those from Sukia received me at the Puerto Drake airport with great courtesy and professionalism. The accommodation, rustic but perfectly up to my expectations. Mexican food, prepared with a lot of love by Kendar and very pleasant talks in the afternoon with Estefanía, always attentive to my orders. All the Hostel staff are very friendly, informal and attentive to my demands. The tours are perfectly organized, with competent, patient and friendly guides. I absolutely recommend it. It has been 5 unforgettable days. I have walked through the primary forest, I have gone snorkeling, the mangrove tour... It has been a dream. Thanks guys!

Gran aventura en Corcovado

Tuve una excelente experiencia con el equipo de Sukia. Diseñaron un programa bien completo que te permite conocer la zona a través de diferentes actividades por lo que cada día es muy especial. Muy buena combinación entre las actividades y los descansos lo que te permite disfrutar de forma más relajada. Todo el equipo muy dispuesto a resolver consultas y apoyar en lo que uno necesitase. Transmiten mucho el cariño por lo que hacen y su interés en preservar la zona y por promover un desarrollo turístico sostenible que pueda aportar no sólo a unos pocos sino que a toda la Comunidad donde operan.

Tour muy bueno

Hicimos un tour mixto por corcovado. Sirena y San pedrillo. Estuvo muy bien ya que vimos el dicho Pura Vida en su esplendor. Nuestro guia Brayner muy profesional. Simpático. Atento y nos dio explicaciones de todo lo que íbamos viendo y viviendo. Experiencia super recomendable

Bereist vor 3 Jahren habe ich eine phantastische Tour nach Corcovado mit David gemacht.....jetzt mit seiner neuen Firma Sukia Travel ist es kaum besser machbar...das Team um David und Andre ist immer für einen da, die Touren sind phantastisch, jede Tour anders und vollgepackt mit Tiersichtungen (Tapir, Tayra, Tamandua, Kinkajou, Feuerschnabelarassari, Fer de Lance, Eye Lash Viper und und und). Die Unterkunft mit Blick auf die Bay hervorragend, ebenso das Essen in unterschiedlichen Restaurants. Gerne 6 Punkte, wenn es den diese zu vergeben gäbe !!
