Loch Ness and Caledonian Canal 2-Hour Cruise from Dochgarroch

We saw Nessie (kind of)

Did this cruise on the 13th July. There were 5 of us including a wheelchair user and we also had a dog with us. Brilliant staff on board, especially Peter our guide, who not only gave us lots of information about the area, also made sure my sister Haze, who was the wheelchair user, was ok and included. Definitely worth the money.

Wonderful staff went above and beyond

We took a class on a school trip today and the staff could not have been lovelier! The kids had such a great time, thankyou so much Ranald, Rachael, captain Gordon and Steven the guide (from memory apologies if wrong) from the heart, such a special day 😊🙏xx

Week away with my partner.

Definitely value for money, very enjoyable trip. Even the corny jokes by our guide Malcolm were good. All crew very helpful, and would definitely recommend it for any other families. Will defo be doing another 1 of their trips.

Magnificent view

The tour was fantastic, the sceneries were beautiful and really enjoyed the fun and informative commentary by the tour guide. I was on the upper deck for the view but it was quite cold and very windy (the temperature was 10°C ish on the day but felt much colder) so make sure to bring a beanie, gloves, ear muffs, scarf, a thick jacket, and dress warmly to fully enjoy the amazing sceneries.

Much to do about almost nothing

The Staff and Crew were great. Site will not take my submission saying I need to say more. I have nothing more to say.

What a lovely way to spend the afternoon

The views were beautiful. The boat was clean, modern, comfortable and provided adequate drinks and snacks on our journey. But the guide John was the star attraction apart from the fabulous view of course! He did a fantastic job of entertaining us with fascinating insights, knowledge and history about the loch, its banks and of nessy throughout our 2 hour trip. He was funny and kept us wanting more. He even came round table by table checking to see if we were having a great time, which we were. Our only disappointment was when it ended. Many thanks to all the staff who were cheerful and friendly and special thanks to John who was superb!

I got to see the Loch Ness ever since I was Infatuated as a little kid

The cruise annunciator was very personable and approachable. He answered all our questions. the snack bar/bar attendants also awesome.

Well worth doing!

We did the two-hour Contemplation cruise of Loch Ness and it was really good, great commentary, excellent views, friendly staff and the boat comfortable (clean and new). We didn't pre-book tickets until we got to the parking area but it was very easy to do online and luckily for us not a busy day but you should consider booking in advance to secure your spot (our cruise was about noon but the earlier one had been full). Easy parking and short walk to the boarding area. As it wasn't busy we found excellent seats right up front. Even though it was May it was chilly so take warm clothes. Otherwise the downstairs is inside and warm. Definitely a great way to see Loch Ness and we highly recommend it.

Comfortable and entertaining boat tour of Loch ness

We took the round trip boat tour of loch Ness. Very comfortable aboard the boat, either inside or out. Didn't get off to visit the castle, but they are just ruins, so didn't feel we missed much. The guide, who's name I can't remember, was quite knowledgeable and kept us well entertained throughout the trip. Didn't see the loch Ness monster, but guess not many do!

Amazing views

We loved the beautiful surroundings and informative commentary from the tour guide. We got lucky with the weather and were able to appreciate the hills and castles on either shore of Loch Ness.

This will always be a highlight of our travels in Scotland. The commentary was very informative. We enjoyed every moment.

Relaxing Cruise on the Loch Ness!

After touring Urquhart Castle we made our way back to Dochgarroch for our two hour cruise that we had booked in advance. Had a beautiful and windy day for a cruise on the loch. Our captain had a great sense of humor while he gave us interesting information about all things Loch Ness. Sadly we didn't spot Nessie, but we did see plenty of bird life along the way and got yet another different vantage point of the castle from the boat. Enjoyed a bit of whisky while we took in the views as well. Highly recommend!

Excellent two-hour cruise, with just the right amount of local lore

The two-hour contemplation cruise of Loch Ness was just what our family wanted! The view was excellent, the facility was excellent, the informational talk was excellent. We pre-booked our tickets, followed the instructions to find the embarcation site, joined the queue for boarding, boarded the boat, and found excellent seats. If you want to be seated in a particular area of the boat, say for example nearest to the bow (front), arrive 20 minutes early.

Fun on the Caledonian

Had a great time on this tour. Our guide Kieran was super informative and very interesting. Had a lovely time even with the rain

Definitely Do This!

This was a fabulous experience. Such beautiful scenery and great, commentary was wonderfully done, but not overly done like some do. We were on the 9:45a Wed trip, but did not catch the narrators name. Definitely recommend booking this experience!

Nice option

The cruise was nice despite somewhat sketchy weather. Nice views and some interesting commentary. We would have liked more history and culture information in the commentary. Book ahead - we wanted the tour to get off at the castle but it was fully booked.

Well organised, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great facilities (including the nicest toilets!) at the boarding dock. Highly recommend.

2 hour cruise

Excellent trip, good value for money and the weather was great too. My wife is in a wheelchair and we sat on the stern with a good view and there was also a wheelchair friendly space to sit inside too. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cruise, excellent guide

Took the 9:45am cruise after first checking out the Highland cows & gift shop at the departure point! (Lovely coffee & empire biscuits! The boat was pristine, the staff super friendly and the guide was excellent & informative even coming out on to the top outside deck to chat the the passengers & see where they were from. The views are just stunning and even the grey skies & drizzle didn’t detract from the experience, it just added to the sense of foreboding & vastness of the Loch. Second time we have used this company for a cruise, the first several years ago and thoroughly recommend this experience.

The loch ness cruise is a must try experience. The crew were very warm to everyone & kept us entertained throughout.

Well worth every minute.

The two hour trip we booked did not disappoint. Boat was spotlessly clean, crew excellent. Knowledgeable and great fun. We 'saw' Nessie courtesy one of the crew with a great sense of humor. Do sample the yummy Highland Hot Chocolate - adult only! Thoroughly recommend seeing the beautiful Loch Ness by Jacobite Cruises.

Amazing views, interesting and varied commentary which was not repetitive on the return trip. The crew were all so friendly, approachable and couldn't have been more helpful to me [I'm disabled]. So much so that I couldn't pick which member of the crew was most helpful. The best customer service I had on my trip to Inverness with my Australian niece.

Fun on the loch

Great trip, crew were so professional and caring. The way they looked after all passengers was a credit to the company especially older less able passengers, having a laugh with them and making everyone at ease. The boat cruise was a great relaxing and fun filled way to see Loch Ness, with informative and humorous guides. The departure point for the cruise was well managed and the shop and restaurant/cafe was very good but a little pricey for my Yorkshire pocket.

Nice wee cruise

Lovely wee cruise with great and interesting commentary. Shame the boat goes up the middle of the loch and not closer to the bank. Saw an osprey and there was a good time spent viewing Urquhart Castle from the boat.

Pleasant ride on canal

Boat ride on canal was decent. My sister was under the impression it was a slightly smaller boat and a bit more cheesy as far as going on a hunt for Nessie. Perhaps the description of the tour was mis-read. The ride was still pleasant and the guides very kind and charming, just not what was expected.

A special change to see Loch Ness

The crew were all very friendly and informative, and the trip allowed us to see the beautiful landscape surrounding Loch Ness. We enjoyed the information about the loch and surrounding buildings. The special view of Urquhart Castle was a bonus.

Enjoyable trip

Booked this as part of a short break in Inverness and the highlands. Had a great time, helped by lovely weather. Interesting commentary, smart boat, plenty of seating. Plenty of parking, and shop and cafe at the quay. No sign of Nessie though !

Great Loch Ness Cruise for everyone!

It was great and on a fantastic day! Well worth the money and time!!! Just the right amount of commentary. Did not do the stop at Urquhart castle due to time constraints.

A must for seeing and experiencing the beautiful Loch Ness

This is the second time we've done this cruise and this time, we took some other family. As usual, it was amazing. The staff are excellent, the facilities are great, everything is clean, safe and comfortable. Very knowledgeable helpful crew. Fabulous views of the Caledonian Canal, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. Outside and indoor seating suits all weathers. I can't fault this service, it's a great afternoon out.

Took the Contemplation cruise at 14:45 on a Monday. There were a lot of other cruisers, but still plenty of room onboard. Great cruise and fantastic crew!!!

Great Cruise On Loch Ness

Commentary was great and the cruise was lovely and efficient. Convenient cocktails onboard and comfortable seats.

Nice cruise - would recommend

Myself, my sister and 3yr old nephew went on this cruise. We are from the Highlands and it was lovely to see Loch Ness from a different angle (not the road!!) The staff were lovely, the price was good, the audio was nice and clear and the trip relaxing - we would recommend to others. Thank you Jacobite!

Stardust Whalewatching

This was a great trip. We saw a Minke whale, a sea eagle, puffins and seals. It delivered all it promised!

Great two hour tour

We had a great time on the two hour tour on The Maverick. We really enjoyed Allie’s stories- she has a real skill at getting the balance right with sharing lots of facts and interesting stories and anecdotes and allowing guests to simply enjoy the surroundings and scenery. She was great with our four year twins and showed them a book featuring a spotting of Nessie for the 1980s written by the ships captain Gordon. She had lots of local knowledge and recommendations too.

In search of!

This was a gift for my 60th. I’ve always wanted to visit the loch and see the Loch Ness monster but to no avail!😍. Lovely boat great team And good information. Loved that the boat went close to Urquart castle. Good facilities at the dock Would definitely recommend

It Certainly Blows those Cobwebs off

Although I purchased the wrong trip and departure point, it was swiftly sorted out by the Tourist office in Inverness and Jacobite Tours. The fantastic, no hassle, fresh and natural 2-hour trip on to the world-famous Loch Ness did not disappoint

Great experience for all

Really enjoyed our trip yesterday, beautiful weather and scenery. Peter was really nice, took his time to speak to guests and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend the cruise.

Loch Ness

Had a lovely cruise on Loch Ness. Stunning scenery. Fantastic boat with wonderful crew. All in all a great time. Dochgarroch Lock great place to start cruise. Great cafe.

A Fantastic way to view Loch Ness Superb boat trip the crew on board were brilliant great commentary during tour although some of the jokes were really bad !!! Highly recommended Cafe and shop also A1

Fun trip on Loch Ness

Great trip for 2 hours on a really nice boat with plenty of facilities on board. Lovely views and a very informative and funny guide! You shouldn't miss this trip on any visit to the Scottish Highlands. Look after Nessy.......!

Wonderful boat trip

5 adults including one in a wheelchair. We did the 2h Contemplation cruise from Dochgarroch on Jacobite Maverick. The trip was excellent. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the boat was clean and comfortable. The views were fantastic and the weather was kind. The bottled beers and cider from the small bar were also great! Thoroughly recommended.

Crew was solid and professional. Loch was beautiful. Good value. Highlight was the singing voice of our guide Ali. That Castle was just OK

Amazing tour!

The tour was great! Our guides, Allie and Kieran, Were amazing. Allie sang a Scottish song so beautifully it brought tears to my eyes. We would recommend this tour to everyone , any day! 😃

10 star cruise and cafe!

What a beautiful boat and day. Very new and clean boat and we enjoyed the cruise. Exceeded our expectations. And we had a delicious lunch at the cafe. Would bring back the whole family.

Sadly 3 star event

Boring dispute an excellent narrative on anything and everything about the Lake. Not family friendly. Facilities are superior. Shore Cafe and shops are worth a visit even if you don't go on tour.
