Waste of money

We did the tour through kings as recommended, nice big airconditioned bus. The tour itself was way too long, travelling to the outback dry old park. Firstly to termite mounds looked like big rocks ,not very interesting 5 minutes would have been enough. Then onto some various falls the only one worth doing was where we walked down 100s of rocks & steps to have a swim, not long enough there just to have to climb back up. Should have knocked out the one where couldn’t do much. Buffet lunch was in a shed consisting of packaged deli meat & salad! Next stop sounded nice Berry Springs for an ice cream but was only a service station & ice cream on us!Then to an old airfield on the road consisting of 3 cut out planes 🤣 To long & exhaustingly hot.

Meh, not the greatest

Litchfield was beautiful, the places we visited were gorgeous! However, more time at the destinations would have been preferred. Unfortunately we spent more time at service stations - one in particular for 30+ minutes that did not hold significance, attractions, other than a coffee break while we were given an hour for Florence Falls. The itinerary was difficult to follow to calculate the times prior to the event, and the guide gave information overload before disembarking the bus regarding where the toilets, entrance, parking, time.

A great way to see an extraordinary place...

The boat trip down Katherine Gorge is fantastic, made even better by excellent commentary and information on animals, rock formations and history. Our tour guide Becs was great, looking after everyone and bringing a complex and long day of traveling to a very satisfactory conclusion.

I loved swimming at three...

I loved swimming at three different spots in Litchfield. The stop at Howard Springs was the least valuable part of the tour.

The Beauty of Litchfield National Park Amidst Challenging Conditions

My recent visit to Litchfield National Park, although awe-inspiring, was a true testament to the ruggedness required to navigate the natural challenges presented by such a wild and untamed environment. Led by Cam, an exceptional guide brimming with knowledge about the park's diverse sites, the tour was an educational journey through some of the most picturesque landscapes Darwin has to offer. However, accessibility to some of the park's treasures, like the swimming hole at Florence Falls, proved difficult for me. The descent involved a daunting 65 stairs, a journey that my knees simply wouldn't allow. This unfortunately meant missing out on what I anticipated to be a refreshing reprieve from the day's oppressive heat. The tour continued to Wangi Falls, another stunning location promising a cooling dip. Yet, the extreme temperatures and humidity took their toll on my well-being, leaving me feeling too ill from the heat to even manage the short walk to the water's edge. The weather, unforgiving in its intensity, was of course no fault of the tour company, but it did underscore the importance of preparing for the physical demands and climatic conditions of the park. The bus, our main mode of transport, offered comfort, though the internal temperature was kept low in an attempt to help guests acclimatize—a decision that was less comforting and more challenging to endure. This, coupled with the underwhelming lunch experience at Litchfield Cafe, where the basic salad buffet left much to be desired both in substance and setting, painted a stark contrast to the natural splendor we were there to enjoy. Nonetheless, the day was not without its high points. Cam's initiative to feed the barramundi at Howard Springs Nature Park was a delightful surprise, a unique encounter that I will remember fondly. It was these moments of wonder that shone through and reminded me of the intrinsic value of exploring places like Litchfield National Park. In reflection, future visitors with mobility concerns may benefit from a more detailed understanding of the physical requirements for each site. As for the tour operators, there's an opportunity to enhance the experience by ensuring the comfort and well-being of guests in all aspects, including transport, food, and hydration—especially under the extreme weather conditions that are characteristic of this beautiful yet demanding landscape.

Very disappointing

Very boring. A waste of money. So hot that's causing dehydration. The pick up cancelled and need to go to a hotel to gather. No bottled water provided on bus but a plastic bucket containing water for drink, questionable about hygiene. The lunch was so simple and doesn't worth the money. The 2nd waterfall was very tiny but very hot to visit, regret going. After return discovered the payment charged was in USD dollars rather than AUD, so it's around $70 more than advertised, it's cheating and misleading. Why would you be charging US dollars in Australia and didn't make it clear enough. Not worth the money. If you have money go to Cairns, much more to see and better experience.

Darwin to Litchfield National Park. FABULOUS

AAKing tours took us to Litchfield National Park. Lovely coach, great aircon (much needed). Cold water available at every stop. Driver was Russel, lovely, helpful and very knowledgeable. Saw water falls, termite structures, the icing on the cake was Wangi Falls, easy to access and a great place for a cooling swim. Thought it would be freezing but it was fabulous. This trip with AA King tours was amazing.

Litchfield is great but do not use AATkings

Litchfield national park has some interesting termite mounds and nice waterfalls and is worth visiting. We did a one day tour of Litchfield National Park with AAT. The bus driver provided virtually no commentary. We visited some falls, and there were some fruit bats in the trees, no mention at all by the bus driver. For some reason the buses first stop was at a servo, for coffee. A total waste of half an hour. This half hour would be better spent at one of hte water falls. Visit Litchfield Park, but do not use AAT

Amazing

Amazing waterfalls , tour guide was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to, hotel pickup included. Lunch was great.

Cool Down in the Falls

Coach was very comfortable. Florence Falls was beautiful and tour guide very knowledgeable. There were 6 stops and two swims at Florence Falls 330 steps to get down to and Wangi Falls, which was flat, both were great to cool off from heat. . Lunch was very basic, suggestion to offer local fish, eg barramundi in replacement of cold meats. Last stop at Howard Springs could have been removed. Managed to do over 8,000 steps in total after sitting on bus for most of the day. Fantastic way to see this part of the world.

Memories are made of this

The termite mounds were amazing in both size and number. Florence Falls was a lovely appetiser to the main meal: Wangi Falls, which has to be seen to be believed. Swimming thre is an awesome experience. All in all a fabulous day.

Great tour guide, excellent pace, breathtaking stops.

This was perhaps my favorite day of my trip. Cameron is an excellent guide who provided great narration. It was great that he’d provide us with all the background during the drives between stops, but then let us explore on our own. The day goes by at a good pace because of the multiple stops, each one providing incredible views. For those complaining about not being able to swim, that is up to the park management and crocodiles (which do unfortunately make their way inland, causing them to occasionally close swimming sites); the tour guides/companies have no control over the government or nature (; If you can secure Cam as your guide, this may be one of your best park tours.

Interesting Tour

The driver/guide was nice, helpful and provided very interesting and comprehensive comment. The waterfalls were spectacular at the end of the wet season, but only one of the waterfalls was open for swimming. The lunch provided at the Litchfield open air cafe was extremely basic. The tour is a great experience.

Great trip with a great guide named Rox.

A full day of touring was made enjoyable by our knowledgeable guide Rox. Her knowledge, love and passion for the area shone through her commentary, she handled the huge bus full of tourists with ease. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting an amazing day of sightseeing, walking and swimming topped off by a delicious lunch.

Touring Litchfield with Rox

Rox was our good humoured and knowledgeable coach driver and guide for the day. She went out of her way to give good explanations of walks and tour highlights. A scenic, full day.

Well worth the money

Great day making it more enjoyable with a great knowledgeable Coach Captain great views of the falls the Termite mounds a bit disappointing as you could only see one or 2 together with the grasses so high.

The waterfalls were the highlight for me but I was very disappointed not to be able to swim, as was offered in the brochures I read. Our tour guide/driver was excellent and made the day much more enjoyable (Rox).

Expensive day for what it is

Interesting day with informative guide. Comfortable transport. Lunch very average for the cost of the trip. Very disappointing that we could not go swimming because of it being wet season. You should be informing people who have booked about this. The main reason we booked it was because of you advertising swimming in rock pools. Quite an expensive day for what we got!

Don’t go in the wet season

All of the swimming holes and most of the walks are closed in the wet season. We all went to swim at the falls yet the operator knew that is never possible but didn’t say so. The food was unspeakable.

Lovely Litchfield, but disappointing company values and not value-for-money

Litchfield NP has some stunning views, gorgeous flora and fauna and in the wet season there are fewer people so there is more opportunity to observe fauna without disturbance. The falls and creeks were tumultuous and flooded in some areas, and none of the swimming spots were open due to potential presence of crocodiles. This was our first ever "tour", so what follows might describe what is usual for tours. The tour driver/guide was lovely and had fairly good knowledge of the sights however we were advised strongly to only walk on the fully paved areas and to follow the guide rather than explore alone. This meant very conservative group ambles. We had to deliberately take different paths to get a short bush walk in (we are experienced bush walkers and would rate what we did alone as easy). The guide attempted to get everyone on and off the bus efficiently and continuously commented on how well the time management was going. In fact he "managed" us so well that we arrived back in Darwin at 3:30 instead of 5pm. There was no demonstration of respect for the oldest continuing culture in the world. There was no Acknowledgement of Country before we started or when we entered each new area. There was not even an acknowledgement sticker or notice in the bus. Persistent use of the phrase "the aboriginals" was not respectful. Important notes for wet season visitors which AAT did not advertise: - no swimming was permitted in the wet season - no buffet lunch or special cakes were provided - dietary requirements were not requested by AAT (we phoned beforehand to tell them) - the vegetarian lunch was a garden salad with no protein, no carbs and no cutlery A lot more could be done to make this tour more educational, especially about the traditional owners. At the very least, an Acknowledgement should be done at the start of each tour, when all participants are on the bus. It would be brilliant if AAT invited (and paid) Larrakiah elders to speak to the tourists and do a Welcome to Country at the start of each tour. A just response to their Country being capitalised upon by non-indigenous business owners. The National Park was gorgeous and bus driver/guide was friendly, humble and had reasonably good knowledge but the tour, as we experienced it, did not offer value for money.

Beautiful waterfalls

Lovely day out taking in Litchfield national park and the Termite mounds at Batchelor.Swam in Florence Falls which was lovely and refreshing.(Beware there is over 300 steps down to swimming hole)Wangi Falls was closed for swimming unfortunately due to recent rains and fear of crocodiles.Had nice buffet lunch there.Got picked up from hotel around 7.45am and dropped back around 5pm.Our tour guide Libby was lovely with a very warm and engaging personality.The coach was very comfortable.It was great to be able to refill our water bottles with nice cold water from the eskis supplied.My only suggestion to improve day would be to try to fit in another swimming opportunity.I understand it was not their fault about Wangi Falls being closed, but why not fit in another swim at Berry falls?We drove straight past it on our way home.We could have skipped the fish feeding at Howard Springs (it was not that interesting)to allow this.The whole idea of this day for me was to enjoy swimming in water falls which I love.One swim just wasnt enough for me.Overall though a very enjoyable day.Thank you AAPT Kings.

Excellent tour

INFORMATIVE TOUR - A GOOD ONE FOR YOUR FIRST TIME VISITING LITCHFIELD

The tour was informative and quite enjoyable for a day tour. The main swimming falls, Wangi, was not open for swimming and had been closed for quite some time. We had one swim at Ferguson Falls and that was the extent of our swimming experience. Given that it was known that Wangi Falls was closed I believe that some other swimming experience could have been enjoyed, for example Berry Springs. Our guide told us that the water quality there was not good but one of the other passengers had been swimming there the day before. The buffet salad lunch included was really good. We fed the Barramundi a highlight, saw the termite mounds, visited Tolmer falls for photographs, so we had a full day.

Disappointing to say the least

The tour guide/driver was very good but that was about it. We paid a lot of money to see three waterfalls and eat a very poor lunch. I mean a couple of slices of ham and silverside with some less than impressive salads which the bowls weren't refilled when empty as we were on the end of the line so very little to choose from. The woman that did the lunch was not at all friendly and gave the impression she could wait for us to be gone It could have been so much more but it wasn't. I would not recommend this tour to anyone unless it is given an overhaul

Incredible sights

An amazing experience, feeding gigantic baramundi, a tour through the Indigenous centre & the iconic castle were all good. The highlights was swimming at Florence falls (beautiful shady waterhole backed onto two waterfalls) & viewing the breathtaking Tolmer and Wangi falls. The latter two were closed for swimming temporarily. Still well worth the visit to see these beautiful oasis's. Only reason for not getting a 5 was the our rude guide. Shortly after sending my drone up, keeping it away from the path and out of the way of the viewing platform (to not disrupt other visitors photos) he asked around if anyone had a gun and went on to claim that this was just people too lazy to walk down from the parking lot. Noticing I (10 meters away) had the controller in my hand, he walked up and claimed that drones were not allowed to be flown in this park (not true). I informed him I had a permit to fly the drone from the Parks and wildlife department. Immediately backpedding and beginning to walk away he said well don't be be flying over people (which I wasn't) and don't be photographing us (despite the drone camera facing the other way). Pretty disappointing (and a little amusing) to see how he handled that interaction and having such a swollen head, that he thinks anyone wants to film him instead of the majestic Tolmer falls. But an overall incredible tour and a must see. Would recommend

Litchfield tour highlights

Going for a swim in one of the ponds, Shady Creek at Florence Falls. The water was clear, cool and very refreshing. There was a resident goanna ( or some other family member) sitting on a rock beside us, just taking it all in. We just loved it.

Skeptic to a convert

Reading the reviews we were a little bit skeptical on booking this tour. But as this tour suited our schedule so we decided to book it anyway. It turns out we had nothing to worry about and was perfect for us. Starting the day we were picked up from our hotel on time. Our tour guide Janelle and driver Ollie were great. Janelle provided some knowledgeable, humorous commentary and was happy to answer any questions as best she could. Ollie was happy to help out when ever he could. On speaking to the staff we found out they were both thrown in the deep end as the usual driver and tour guide were sick. Both were usually assigned to other roles within the company. They both conducted the day with professionalism and grace and the tour went off without a hitch. Walking shoes, hat, sunscreen and a refillable drink bottle were a must. There was a little bit of walking and stairs involved early in the day but most fitness levels should be able to complete. Other options were given for people who weren't going to complete the walks. We felt there was plenty of time at most stops to see the sights and swim. Maybe bring a snack with you if you get hungry before or after lunch. Thanks again to Janelle, Ollie and AAT Kings.

Excellent Driver/Guide

Your driver Prem was a good driver and a great guide. He was most informative and made everything extremely clear and interesting. He was also patient and kind. We enjoyed the stops at the three falls but thought the first and last stops a waste of time and maybe just padding to the day trip. The lunch provided was extremely basic to say the least.

Would not recommend this tour

Would not recommend this tour, long dull and boring. The commentary by the driver was excruciating. Better to have hired a car and driven to the waterfalls. Visited 3 waterfalls and able to swim in 2. Absolute waste of time to visit Tolmer falls! The walk down to the water falls is for those who can navigate a lot of steps. A long day, take money to buy food/ coffee at the 1st Roadhouse stop as lunch isn't until 1.30.

A Great Day Out

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour to Lichfield. Pickup was on time, commentry by Prem and Cam was informative. There are lots of comfort stops along the way so all good there. Buffet salad and fresh fruit for lunch was very welcome, fresh and plentiful. A good hat is a must as some parts of the walking doesn't have shade. Swimming in the rock pools is a welcome relief from the heat, so take your swimmers. Rocks around the pools can be slippery- good idea to take your reef shoes.

What a fun day trip!

Lovely trip and beautiful waterfalls to swim in. My kids 7-9 loved it. Our tour guide and driver was very friendly and very informative. 😀

Exceptional day

Mark our guide was exceptional. He had a wonderful voice which was easy to listen to. He mixed interesting facts with jokes and humour. He was thorough with safety, info on what to expect and where to go for the walks. He catered to all levels of fitness and gave you options of which was the best way to get to each falls. Couldn’t talk more highly of this guide. His co pilot Cam was friendly and helpful too. Lunch was filling. It was a memorable day due to his expert skills. Highly recommend

Litchfield National Park with Shane of AATKings

Our one day tour of Lichfield National Park with Shane of AAT Kings was an excellent experience. His knowledge and information of the park was excellent. He made the day fun and full of experiences. Very thoughtful and helpful. The lunch provided was excellent.

Fantastic tour

We went to the waterfalls and termite mounds. There was plenty of time to swim at the falls. The bats at Wangi Falls were a wonderful highlight. The guides were fantastic. Highly recommend this tour.

Great Day Out in Litchfield

We chose ATT Kings ‘Litchfield National Park Waterfalls’ one day tour and thoroughly recommend it. It covers a lot of territory and is very good value at $192 pp. This includes a healthy lunch at Wangi Falls. Highlights include visiting the huge Magnetic Termite Mounds, two swimming opportunities at Florence Falls and Wangi Falls - we both swam in these beautiful and refreshing plunge pools. The easy walk back to or from Florence Falls is along the gorgeous Shady Creek Track. Also, a visit to a lookout over the immense Tolmer Falls and on the way back to Darwin we stopped at Howard Springs and fed the turtles and barramundi. One of the main reasons for this being such a successful experience for us was the quality of our guide and driver for the day, Prem. His manner was very friendly, courteous and thoughtful. At all times his commentary was concise, clear and very informative. He made sure that we were given very clear instructions as to directions for walks and the times we needed to return to our coach. This ensured that the day went very smoothly and we were on time for all the stops we needed to make in this busy tour. We were picked up at 7:15am and dropped back at 5:30pm. Big thanks to Prem for a great day out in Litchfield.

Fantastic trip.

This was an amazing day and the driver was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. The scenery was beautiful and the waterfalls we went to were glorious. Our lunch was fresh and delicious. It is a great company to travel with and the coach was very comfortable . Definitely a trip to do.

Paradise Found

Wangi Falls was a standout location. Waterfalls..... gorgeous rock formations and a huge swimming area. The most amazing place to swim that I've ever visited. The rest of Litchfield was equally fascinating. Wonderful places to swim and wander. The giant termite mounds were also fascinating.

Bullying Bus Driver - AM trip - July 13, 2022 - Departure from Darwin Hilton

What to expect: "listen to your guide’s narration on the drive to the park"... this includes bad Dad jokes, which he seemed to think were terribly funny (even if very few did). "Rest and recharge with a cold buffet lunch...where you can indulge in a slice of famous cheesecake" you would believe that this cheesecake would have been available to everyone but wasn't as the cafe ran out... it is also $8.50 a slice... I would have to also strongly disagree with the bus driver's need to (and encourage) humiliate those who were late back to the bus, particularly as most were elderly. A women was 3 (!) minutes late back and the driver told everyone to clap her as she got on ... really?! Rather than there be some kind of concern for her welfare, there was this kind of insidious bullying... I advised her later on that I didn't partake or approve of what happened and she told me that she had previously ask the driver for water and he refused to give her any, saying that "there is water at lunch". The water was stowed under the bus and we had been told it was readily available. Some people make think that this kind of pack mentality is the way things are but I believe that AAT Kings as a responsibility to ensure that EVERYONE has a pleasant experience... Also leave out the "Bombing of Darwin" video... there's so many nicer experiences you can show.
