A perfect day

The day was well organised and a great introduction to Kakadu. Enjoyed the smaller group experience. Becks, our driver / guide was exceptional. Kakadu day tour from Darwin, for the win!

Very well organised tour, yes it a long day getting from Darwin to Kakadu but with limited time in the top end and wanting to see Kakadu this was perfect for me! Seen the things I wanted to see. Unite and the amazing rock art and incredible view over the land was a highlight for me. The river cruise was beautiful and relaxing, and spot crocs was fun. Our guide Chrissy was a wealth of knowledge and personality, she made the day fun and you can tell she loves her job. Water was alway available and there was plenty of food. Would recommend this tour for anyone!

The Kakadu Experience

We had a good day. We able to see traditional rock paintings which were fascinating. We enjoyed the river cruise . We saw plenty of crocodiles.

A great tour with knowledgeable guides

Our guides Nat and Christy are knowledgeable. attentive, and polite. The lunch/ snacks/ iced water are added pluses - better than we expected. They provided enough restroom stops for the guests to stretch legs on the 3-hour ride one way to/from the park (do expect a long ride.) The hike up the hill to see ancient rock painting is very interesting, and the scenery is beautiful. The cultural cruise on the East Alligator river was educational in a tranquil environment. The only problem we had was with the speaker system on the tour bus - it is buzzy and can hardly hear the guide (do have to guess a few times on what we should be looking at.)

Worth your time and money, ditch the volume operators for these folks

Becs was our guide. Friendly, knowledgable, and engaging. Extensive experience with the indigenous population. Corporate staff was quick to reply. Not left guessing on what to do. Recommend this smaller outfit. The big ticket tour operators will run you thru as cattle.

Great bus tour

It was great day driver was great day and he gave a lot of information which was very informative.He looked after everyone on the bus. His intinery was was just what a tour needed he read the passengers very well giving us the time we needed to look at different things.Great day was had by all.

Awesome Kakadu & Arnhem with cruise experience

Congratulations to the management for putting together an amazing tour. The bus was amazing as was the lunch and the snacks, very comfortable and well thought out. our driver Norm was a wealth of knowledge and very polite and entertaining. Nothing was to much trouble for Norm, he catered for our every need and gave great advice. The cruise with Tyrone was awesome, really made our day to go onto Arnhem Land to the Billabong. The fact that Tyrone’s presentation wasn’t polished just made our experience soooo authentic, it was the best way to do the cruise. Absolutely amazing, well worth doing, highly recommended. Fantastic Tour - a must do!

Loved this tour! Our driver/guide Charlotte was a safe driver, a lovely personality & very knowledgeable & kept the tour very interesting. We were lucky to have guide Emily on board too who provided some great insights on the indigenous rock paintings. It was a long day out but it didn’t feel like it due to the astonishing scenery & commentary. Kakadu has to be seen to appreciate. It’s like a huge beautiful garden that takes your breath away. The walks were fairly easy except maybe to the escarpment. There was some uneven ground & rocks to climb but going slowly & steadily got you there safely. We had a number of Elderly passengers who managed the walks okay. The bus was comfortable & air conditioning perfect temperature. The lunch was lovely & fresh & there was cool drinking water provided all day. Pick up from our hotel was very handy & they were on time. Highly recommended this company to others. The best way to see Kakadu in a short time

The best way to see Kakadu under the expert guidance of Mike. Safe driver, perfect disposition for the job as a tour guide - happy , knowledgeable and very friendly . Lunch at Ubirr was great as well and well catered for vegetarians . Thank you Mike

This was the best way to see Kakadu. The tour guides were well informed, lunch and snacks amazing. Awesome cometary on all Kakadu had to offer. Could not recommend this tour and staff enough. Fantastic.

Highly Recommend

Highly recommend. Our tour guide Mike was a wealth of information on the local area and gave us a great insight into aboriginal culture whilst on the bus before arriving at Kakadu. He guided us through spectacular Rock Art, and walk, then provided a large spread of salad for lunch. We then went on a river cruise guided by a local Aboriginal guide which was a very educational experience, then met with locals at the Cultural Centre to purchase art. A full day, 10/10, a fantastic day out with my sisters.

The whole day was fantastic from start to finish, all stops great, bus driver Mike very informative and knowledge amazing also new when was time for us to have a sleep.

Day tour that covers a lot.

Well organised tour. Becs was a fantastic tour guide and bus driver. Very knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. Plenty of food for lunch and snacks. Lovely cold water available which was really welcome as the day got hotter. Smaller group made it much more enjoyable rather than travelling on a large tour bus. It was a long day but would highly recommend this tour.

Bucket List Day trip to Kakadu

For a Pommie Becs (Rebecca) was an excellent and unbelievably knowledgeable young lady who made our visit to Kakadu memorable! Her previous experiences in the top end were happily shared with our small group of 13. From her grasp of the local aboriginal language to her knowledge of wildlife and flora was riveting. I can’t recommend Off-road Dreaming highly enough. The plentiful supply of fresh cold drinking water, the snacks through the day; and the wonderful lunch all prepared and catered by Becs, Our scenic stops along the way including my crocodile sighting as we crossed the South Alligator River will all be very memorable.

Great Adventure

The Kakadu day tour with Becs was exceptional. It was a jam-packed day full of great experience. From climbing Ubirr rock, viewing the scenery from the top, viewing the rock art, to the scenic river tour where we learnt much of the traditions was a pleasure. Thanks Becs for a great day. AWESOME TRIP TO KAKADU - ORGANISED BY OFFROAD DREAMING AND LED BY 'BECS'

It's a long way to go for just the day but if you only have one day free then better to go than not to go! Whole tour is very well organised and we were so lucky to have 'Becs' as our driver/guide. Even if she is from the UK she really knows her stuff and is well informed, witty and fun to be around. Our whole group were totally enamoured with her and would always want to have Becs leading any future tours!!

Spectacular Kakadu day tour

The Kakadu day tour with guide Becs was fantastic! A long day, but we'll worth it, and guide Becs was the perfect host... Experienced, informative, knowledgeable, and great personality that made the trip that much more enjoyable. The walking/climbing at Ubirr rock art (followed by a great lunch) was amazing, as was the river cruise. Thoroughly recommend! @becs, Rom left his Rarotonga cap on the bus, but you're welcome to it! The trip was great. It reminded us of Lion King. Annie was really friendly and gave informative commentary the whole way. My friend and I learnt heaps.

Worth every second…..

The trip got off to a great start, as I was literally picked up at the exact time I was told I would be by Offroad Dreaming, the tour organizer. I was also fortunate to have Annie as the group guide, as her passion for her work and knowledge of the area made for a great day. While visiting during wet season “limits” what one might see compared to dry season, this trip was still exceptional in every way. Upon arrival to Kakadu, we started at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie). After a bit of mild uphill hiking, we visited a series of rock shelters at which we were able to see the amazing rock art, some of which is estimated to be up to 20,000 years old. It is hard to wrap one’s head around it, and not wonder what messages the drawers were trying to convey. A truly remarkable experience! The second part of the trip was a boat cruise along the Yellow River. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Beautiful water lilies everywhere. It was also great to see some crocodiles along the way! In spite of all the driving she had to do, Annie never lagged in her enthusiasm for what she showed us. The trip was well paced with plenty of rest stops. A tasty lunch was also made available to the group, as well as other snacks along the way, topped off by a refreshing cool towel. This trip makes for a long day, but it is worth every second.

Must do in Darwin

The views were amazing, Kakadu is really special. Our tour guide Brooke was very kind! She was respectful and informative while showing and talking to us about the history behind the aboriginal art. We had time to explore some areas by ourselves for a bit which was nice. Lunch was yummy and the snacks throughout the day were good too. Bus was very comfy with perfect temp air con. I was in a group of 8 which was great and made it a very comfortable and personal tour. Would recommend for solo travellers. It is quite pricey but I think it’s worth it for the quality of the tour.

Nature and cultural experience

Amazing aboriginal paintings, beautiful boat trip with ery funny guide Dennis. Our guide Annie was brilliant, so much knowledge about the culture of the area and about the natural environment. Lunch was great. Loved it!

Annie was amazing. She did an incredible job at showing us the amazing wildlife. We had a fabulous time seeing ancient rock art. Great yellow river cruise! It was a long day but utterly enjoyable.

Brief Introduction to Kakadu but Long Trip!

This tour provided a brief introduction to Kakadu. Unfortunately, much of the tour is spent on the bus! The boat ride was fun - it had been hot & humid but then the heavens opened and we all got drenched! The tour seemed overpriced and did not even include the entrance fee to Kakadu.

Kakadu encounter!

I was collected by the wonderful Bec, who had zeal, enthusiasm and manners. Instantly you can feel her rapport with the country and its people. It is a tour that makes you feel like a tourist and a local all at the same time! Every effort and consideration has been made by off-road dreaming to make it safe, exciting and educational! My recent tour of Kakadu National Park was marred by underwhelming aspects, notably the $340 price tag and the uninspiring food. Despite the hefty cost, the culinary offering consisted of plain chicken and salad, a far cry from what one would expect for such an expense. While Kakadu's natural beauty remains captivating, the lackluster food and high price diminish the overall value of the experience. Consider other tour options offering better culinary experiences for a more enjoyable visit to Kakadu.

The walk to see the rock art was fascinating. The art itself was impressive and the area in which the art was found was very picturesque

A wonderful tour

In the morning of March 23th, 2024, our tour guide picked up us in front of Double Tree Hotel. The girl is passionate and knowledgeable. The whole tour was thoughtful and enjoyable.

Long but awesome day out

The trip to Kakadu is long-ish but very rewarding. We liked the mix of natural sightseeing and aboriginal culture on the tour. Of course, for a day you could only touch on the beauty of Kakadu but if short on time the trip is great. For a day we managed to see part of the Stone Country, have a boat trip on Yellow Water Billabong and see examples of early aboriginal art. Our guide Brook did an amazing job of taking care of us and shared her knowledge of the indigenous stories from the region.

Spiritual experience

The whole tour was very spiritual, my partner is indigenous from another state and was honoured to see and feel the history of his ancestors. The cruise was our favourite as it was beautiful, peaceful and the guide was awesome

Dreaming not required - this tour has it all

Do not be mistaken - this is a FULL day tour. We were collected around 6am and didn't get back until a little before 7pm. It's a bit of a long drive on the bus out to Kakadu - but the seats and airconditioning were comfortable. First up it's a quick coffee / breakfast stop at a proper outback country store cum bar cum petrol station cum local hang out. Back on the bus and cross into Kakadu National Park. Our first stop was the birdlife area which was amass with thousands of birds. Back on the bus to Ubirr - we spent close to two hours here. Excellent guiding and introduction to the history of cave paintings. An opportunity to explore the top of the rock formations with stunning views out across Kakadu and Arnhem Land. An excellent picnic lunch was supplied catering for all food intolerances and those of us famished from walking round in the 40+ heat! Our tour guide was excellent in reminding us to top up water bottles (a huge cold water supply in the back of the bus!). After lunch we saw crocs on the hunt for their lunch. We stopped at Cahills Crossing were there were literally dozens of crocs floating waiting for some lunch on the incoming tide. Then a short trip up to where we boarded our boat for a tour of the East Alligator river. Having seen how many crocs were in the river - this was a little unnerving at first but we managed to get right up close and personal with the crocs - this was an excellent part of the trip! We even got to step off in Arnhem Land and learn about spear making and throwing. We finished the day with lamingtons (a favourite aussie treat - look them up!) at the Welcome to Kakadu National Park sign. This trip was expertly guided and didn't feel forced as some tour guides can be. Thanks to the team pulling it together for us. An excellent full day out exploring.

Offroad Dreaming, a small company delivers value for money

My wife and I took the day tour of Kakadu with Offroad Dreaming. It was a well-organized tour with only 13 people on a bus. Prior to the tour Emma and Vicky, the ladies in the office were very helpful and gave us all the information we needed for the tour. Brook was the driver as well as our guide. Whilst the tour was almost 12 hours long, the bus was very comfortable. Brook made the trip very entertaining. Brook was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information which made the tour worthwhile. We enjoyed our trip to the wetlands where we saw a large variety of birds, flora, and fauna. We also got to see wild boars which is quite rare as we were given to understand. The picnic lunch organized and set up by Brook was enjoyed by all on the trip. The cruise was also another highlight where we got to see the freshwater crocodiles. Rock art on the cliff face was fascinating. We met an indigenous elder who explained the art and the weather in Kakadu. Brook certainly deserves commendation as she went out of her way to make the trip entertaining and informative. We would certainly recommend Kakadu tour with Offroad Dreaming.

Good but a short time in the park

Brooke our guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and engaging for the entire day. Plenty of snacks throughout the day and a nice lunch were served and she made sure we had chances to fill up our water bottles at every stop. The tour itself was a long day which I expected. About 6 hours of driving round trip and the bus was quite small so my knees were digging into the seat in front of me the whole way. Honestly not a lot of time is spent in the park due to the time constraints. About an hour looking at the paintings and then an hour and a half for the cruise. The cruise was nice since we saw lots of crocs, but no other wildlife. This will do if you only have one day but really it's a lot of travel for not much time in the park. But great guide and well organized!

Great day trip

The guide was brilliant, explaining about Aboriginal culture and the meaning of the paintings on the rocks. Later we went on the East alligator River with an Aboriginal guide who also explained in great detail about Crocodiles and how they live. We also saw some exotic birds during this part of the trip. Overall, a great experience

Great Kakadu Day trip.

Great trip. Mike provided excellent commentary throughout. Lots of snacks, iced water and lunch. Mamukala wetlands and bird watching was an unexpected delight. Very interesting rock art and great views at Ubirr. The day was topped off with an informative Guluyumbi cultural cruise with Tyrone. Highly recommend.

Breathtaking views

Offroad Dreaming offers a brilliant same-day tour to Kakadu, which I highly recommend. Mike was the most knowledgable guide, his time here in the NT and experience makes him a top tour guide. The coach was very comfortable, we were cool, well-fed and watered throughout the day. The walk to the Ubirr Rock Art was unforgettable, plus the climb to the top gave us a 360 degree view of the floodplain. The boat ride on the East Alligator river was another highly recommended experience, along with the opportunity to buy Indigenous art direct from the artist. Mike's interesting and factual commentary rounded out an exceptional day.
