A great day!

This is an excellent way to see the area around Elounda, Plaka and of course the island which has a long and unique history and is definitely worth visiting. The olive oil tour was very interesting and we learned lots about the harvesting and oil extraction process. Our guide Gijs was outstanding!

Unforgettable Private Crete Tour

We had the most incredible experience exploring part of Crete with our guide, Louise!! This private tour was everything we expected and more. Louise was knowledgeable, passionate, and fun! She shared with us some of the most popular areas in Crete but also hidden gems, which was exactly what we were searching for. Her recommendations for restaurants, food selections & activities were spot on!!! She made this day feel very personalized to our interests and an adventure we won’t forget! Private Spinalonga tour - July 2023

Highlight of our trip

We enjoyed an excellent private tour with Gijs last week. We were collected punctually from our hotel in Heraklion and driven to Agios Nikolaos and then on to Plaka and Spinalonga. Gijs was both relaxed and informative.. a really nice guy to spend the day with. We had a great lunch in Plaka at a restaurant recommended by Gijs...idyllic views, great fresh food.. it doesn't get much better. We returned via the mountains and a monastery, so a full day but also a relaxing day. We organised everything by email with Tanya in advance - communication was easy and efficient and I would without hesitation use this company again for future tours and visits.

Great private tour!

We had a great day on this private tour! We were picked up from our hotel and straight into the tour. We did a larger bus tour later in the week and it took a long time to pick up and drop everyone off! It was definitely worth paying a bit more for a private tour. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable and friendly - we stopped very often to take photos and she told us a lot about living on Crete as well as the towns we drove through and Spinalonga. It would have been good to have a guide with us going around Spinalonga and an hour on the island wasn’t really enough time to explore everything but other than that the tour was great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone going to the Heraklion area!

Excellent private tour with Louise

Had a lovely day with our guide Louise, so glad we took time out of the resort to see some of the tourist hotspots as well as glimpses of the real Crete. The private tour meant no waiting for the coach to drop everyone off at their hotels, we weren’t sure initially because of the cost to go private but it was well worth it. Louise was great, she gave us total flexibility on if we wanted to stop along the way photos and was not at all overbearing when it came to where we choose to have lunch, she gave us her recommendations but in the end we could happily choose wherever we liked the look of. We were given some great information on Spinalonga on the journey there, along with some good stops along the way, on our journey there. Once on the island we had to tour Spinalonga without our guide, but that was fine with us and it meant we could explore at our own pace. The olive oil factory visit was interesting but fairly brief. There are products at the end that the guide at the factory allowed us to sample and we were happy to purchase a few items as they were very reasonably priced. We were blown away by just how many olive trees there are in the rural areas. The following day we took a tour elsewhere with another company, on a bus tour, and realised how lucky we has been the previous day to have a private tour that was very much at our own pace. Thank you to Louise, our guide, we would recommend the day highly!

Great tour company

We finally decided it was time to book a trip to Spinalonga, and this tour really stood out. Taïna was our excellent guide, and as well as being incredibly knowledgeable, she was a lovely person to spend the day with. On our way to Agios Nikolaos, Taïna stopped off so we could look around a local monastery - it was incredibly beautiful and a great start to the trip. We stopped off on many occasions so we could hear the history of the places we were visiting and to get some great pictures. Spinalonga was an amazing place to visit, but it was such a hot day we decided to only stay for half an hour so we had enough time to look around the houses- with hindsight we probably should have stayed a bit longer, as we do tend to dawdle, but that was our fault. The restaurant Taïna recommended was a lovely place to sit and relax for a while and the food was great. Our last trip was to the olive oil factory, and was something that was more for my husband, but I found it enjoyable as well, and definitely made the most of trying out the different products they produced, especially the wine!! We can thoroughly recommend this tour.

Enjoyable and historical day trip

An enjoyable day with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Plenty of time for lunch in Plaka and Spinalonga and olive factory but would have liked to have stopped in Agios Nikolaos as per the itinerary instead of just driving through.

Highlight of my Crete trip

Such a great experience. The scenery was stunning. My guide was very knowledgable and really took time to make it my trip. Private was the way to go for me. The olive oil factory was super fun too. And getting to taste all the various oils. So much better than store bought. Spinalonga was an incredible place too. So much history. Do this trip. You won’t regret it.

The best day has by all

Wow what a fantastic day we had! First of all Tania is simply one of the loveliest people you can ever meet, and is friendly, attentive and it very much felt like we were being shown around by a family member (in the best way). Super knowledgeable and seeing as I love history and the Greek myths, Tania took the time to explain a lot of things and places to us which was so interesting. The island is beautiful and Tania showed us some great landmarks. We also went to Spinalonga Island which was very cool and has an interesting backstory albeit a little sad. We also visited the olive oil factory which we loved as we had one of the members of staff privately taking us around and showing us the process from 2000yrs back to present day, and partial to a bit of shopping i of course purchased a few things :) We also managed to find a little time to visit a lovely little beach so my little one could enjoy the waves and really had a great time. I would highly recommend this tour with Tania, she goes above and beyond to ensure that you are comfortable and enjoying your day and she will tailor make some of the day for you if there’s a special or specific place you’d like to see. We had the pleasure to experience a great tour with our amazing guide Taïna. She was really lovely, easy to talk to and well informed. We got to see many different things and enjoyed a nice lunch with a stunning view. We would strongly recommend this tour!

Highlight of our trip to Crete!

We had a fantastic trip with Taïna to Agios Nikolaus, Spinalonga and the Olive Oil Factory. Taïna showed us her favorite places and gave very interesting insights to Crete history. All stops were well picked and the whole tour was charming and entertaining. This day certainly was our highlight of our Crete vacation!

Fabulous day! Thank you

We had a fabulous time with our guide, Taïna. From the first 5 minutes in the minibus Taïna was finding out our interests in order to personalise the tour to us. We had a quick stop at a monastery en route that was not planned, and even stopped on the side of the road to look and smell the local herbs and flowers. Spinalonga was great, Taïna left us to visit this ourselves but gave us alot of background and stories surrounding the island both before and after the visit. She recommended a fantastic restaurant in Plaka and we ate delicious fresh fish. The olive factory was fantastic and if only our suitcases were big enough to take more home! Thank you so much Taïna. Had a wonderful day exploring this beautiful area of Crete. Our guide Taiina was so informative and an excellent guide. She gave us so much information on the places we visited, and life in Crete. I would highly recommend this trip, it was very special to be able to visit these places and learn more about this lovely country.

You get to see many interesting and beautiful sites. The tour guide was fun, very knowledgable and accommodating. The boat ride to Spinalonga is a must do. Lunch in Platka was great.

Great tour

What a well organised tour. Loved the fact it was only 8 people in a minibus with our fantastic guide Francesca. Plenty of stops and all the right length. Trip over to Spinalonga from Plaka was short but lovely, and for us 1 hour on the island was plenty. The trip to the olive oil factory was also good with plenty of tasting. Would definitely recommend instead of going with a large bus/group. Thank you for a lovely day.

Well organised

We stayed in July and used eye tours. We went to Spinalonga, the sunset boat cruise and Christi island. The sunset cruise was great. All of them well organised. Would use again

Fantastic Experience!

Right from booking the tour Eye Travel were fantastic. We decided on the ‘Interesting Crete’ tour as it seemed more personal, and we were not disappointed. There were only 8 of us on the tour and our guide Cilliane (I hope the spelling is correct!) was fabulous. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, and set us all at ease. The minibus was very clean and in good condition. The trip itself was fantastic and we got not only to see Spinalonga Island but lots of other areas and lots of opportunities for photos, coffee, and lunch. We never once felt rushed. I would thoroughly recommend Eye Travel for any excursion you wish to do, and want to say thank you to Cilliane for helping make our day special.

BEST tours in town!

From the offset this company was amazing! We visited the office and were talked through all of the tours in great detail and booked onto the Spinalonga tour. Sophie was our guide and was extremely friendly and knowledgable. We loved the fact that the tour was intimate with only 6 people which meant we weren't rushed and could learn a lot about the history of the island and Spinalonga. Plaka was stunning and the free time allowed us to have a fantastic lunch before heading to Spinalonga. Being on such a small tour group meant we chatted to the others and made some great memories. Make sure you book early to get the one you want as yours don't run everyday and we couldn't get on some as they were booked. Although, eye travel did everything to try to accommodate us. This is one of the best ways for tourists to travel the island and to get to know the history of the island. Don't do it any other way apart from this company... forget your reps from package holidays trying to sell you theirs, go to this company. Absolutely amazing, thank you to Sophie and the team. I wish I could remember the Dutch ladies name is the office in Koutoulafri, she was great too!!

Visita all’isola di Spinalonga

Partenza da Plaka, il biglietto costa 10 € andata e ritorno x l’isola di Spinalonga. Escursione molto bella e interessante. L’isola ospitava, fino al dopoguerra, un lebbrosario. Da vedere!

Skøn tur til Spinalonga fra Elounda. Guide på øen, fortalte levende om den frygtelige historie og de spedalske som blev sendt herud for at bo. Øen er lille og kiosken er dyrt, så medbring eget vand. Gå hele vejen rundt og tag enestående fotos ud over det smukke hav.

Het indrukwekkende Spinalonga!

Na een fijne boottocht, het indrukwekkende Spinalonga bezocht. Door de gids werd heel veel verteld en daarvoor had ik een boek gelezen die over Spinalonga ging, dit was allemaal zeer interessant! Zeker de moeite waard!

Je ne recommande pas cette sortie car par nos propres moyens nous aurions bien moins dépensés et aurions eu plus de liberté. N'ayant eu qu'un commentaire lors de la réservation, il n'était pas possible de se faire un avis.
