It was Paradise.

AMAZING!!! This was the Best Beach Day! My best friend and I had the beach to ourselves. Beautiful sands. Food was delicious. Drinks kept coming. Hosts were were great. About 30 minutes to get location, but well worth it.

Dirty beach and limited food. Don’t go.

This excursion was not definitely not worth the money. We were the only ones on the beach that day. Beach had a lot of trash on it. Not like the previous pics posted. Food was limited to Guacamole, Shrimp Ceviche & soft tacos. Got two canned cokes and then they did not have any more. Was definitely not worth $$. Only good thing was the Guacamole and Shrimp Ceviche. Was so disappointed.

! Gilligan’s Island after a hurricane!!

This place was disgusting! Dirty , run down, it looked like something from Gilligan’s Island, after a hurricane hit it! The guy who runs this place look like he just rolled out of bed. We actually laughed in the same taxi that we came in my girlfriend who was with us didn’t even want to get out of the car! But did so in disbelief of what we were looking at! I don’t know what picture they’re using for their advertisement, but this place doesn’t look anything like that photo at all! There was only three other people there at the time and they were shaking their head! Top things off they will not give me a refund. I didn’t eat anything. I didn’t stay there a total of five minutes , I wish I had taken. I wasn’t thinking about taking photos at that time. I just wanted to get the hell out of there! It’s a 30 minute drive to get there and then another 30 minute ride back! I advise anybody to book this excursion!! This is false advertisement at its finest! What a rip off I got charged $158 They refusing to give me my money back! In my opinion, that’s poor business very unsatisfied customer I will never use this company again or this website ever!

Great beach vacation experience!

Came here on a port day from a cruise. Before we even left the boat we got a call from the tour host giving us details about where to meet. When we made it out of the port, he had a sign with my name written on it which was very helpful. Took a 30 min ride down to this beach. This place is not your typical “all inclusive beach club” experience, but honestly we couldn’t have been happier. The host was very kind and accommodating, bringing us drinks and food throughout. Local beers, basic cocktails, pico, guac, ceviche, and tacos. We were there with one other group so it was very peaceful. Beautiful water and coastline. They had kayaks and snorkeling gear we took out to explore some of the coral. And beach dogs!! At the end the cab was waiting for us to take us back to the port when we needed. The beach could use a little cleanup but was nothing that ruined the experience. Also be sure to bring some bug spray!

No go if you are looking for a clean beach

The place has a lot of potential but is not kept up at all. Trash on the beach, awful and dirty snorkeling gear, and volleyball net, swing, and other amenities in disrepair. I was very disappointed. However, food was good and food service was great.

Relaxing day on the beach

If you are looking for a very secluded beach in Costa Maya this is a great option. The host was right there with fresh drinks of our choice and appetizers and the tacos were great. All inclusive is a stretch and the beach could stand a clean up but hey…this is Mexico! All in all a very relaxing day and peaceful without anyone trying to sell us what we didn’t want!

Not what it appears

Positives: The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The drinks were weak but tasted very good (which is fine for me as I'm not a drinker). The pico and guacamole and chips were good. Negatives: while the steak taco tasted good, your only options for lunch were steak with tortillas, or shrimp with pico. I had seen a photo with staff members grilling food such as lobster, so I was disappointed with the food. But again the food did taste good, so it was still kind of worth it. The reason I would not return here is because it is very much deceiving as to the beach space you're getting. There were 14 people on the day we were there and not even enough beach space for all. You're stuck sitting at a picnic table under the trees. There is a TINY spot of beach that is cleaned off and about 8 beach chairs available which are first come first serve. The rest of stretch of beach (which you can walk down and get into the water from) is littered with trash and debris. The properties next to this place are absconded and covered with trash. A few properties down it appears that a family is living in the rubble. I wasn't so much bothered by the areas around the resort being that way. We did actually go down that way through thr water to get some privacy. I just mainly wouldn't return because I thought I would have a nice private area to ourselves and we were crowded together on picnic tables side by side with the others who were there that day. The privacy part of this advertisement is not accurate. BUT it's definitely quieter than other places as it's rustic and deserted. So you wade through the water up or downshore for some privacy. Also the kayaks, vests and snorkel equipment are minimal and not in good condition. I can't imagine if there were the full 35 people which they allow up to. It would have been miserable. Like I mentioned, there were 14 and not enough chairs to accommodate us, and nowhere to spread out away from anyone.

Loved the peaceful atmosphere

It was a unique experience. Wonderful people. The guacamole was so fresh and authentic. The lobster had the best flavor and the drinks were perfect. My daughter enjoyed snorkeling and we were able to get some great photos. The only downside was the trash along the beach. That was especially disappointing.

Very Relaxing & Great Hosts

This was a great place to get away from the crowds...almost 30 of us, family and friends. Very relaxing and the hosts were wonderful!

Not so much

The staff were excellent except for that they could not understand english! However, the rest, not so much. Biting ants and weird flies. The beach was located in the middle of several other abandoned “beach resorts”. The beach was not well kept to that of a beach resort. The amenities were “just out” or toilet paper. “Sorry”. There was so much sarcasm, it had that smell lingering in the air. Food and drinks were alright. Would not do again and would not recommend.

Absolutely Amazing

Had an amazing time. The staff was fantastic. The dogs were so friendly which was an added plus. The food and drinks were 🔥🔥🔥!!! Can’t wait to go back.

Loved the experience!

Our family of 14 had a great time!!! We had the place to ourselves with only 3 other people. The service was amazing!!! Food and drinks never stopped!!! Nay and Ale were really nice and the bartender too. Food was delicious. Will recommend 100%

secluded beach

great little beach for a few hours of relaxation. short 30 minute cab ride, very secluded area. good drinks and food included. great to get away from the crowds of the cruise ship.

The best!!

I am so glad that I booked this adventure. I was a little nervous because of some of the reviews. But I’m guessing those people were looking for high class resorts with nothing natural in the scenery. Yes there was debris from palm trees on the ground and some bugs. It’s the beach people. I loved loved this location. Their were 3 of us all women of 40 and their was only another family of 4 who were never in the water while we were. There was absolutely no one in the water for miles. The water was dusty at the shore from debris from the palm tree but a couple feet in its crystal clear water. There is tons of sea glass to pick up and large shells. We also found 4 intact sand dollars. We had so much fresh food we didn’t know what to do with it all and the owner (I think) keep our glasses full of mixed drinks pop and beer. This was what I was looking for my whole cruise. So glad I found it. Too bad it was the last day of 7 days. I already want to go back to explore more.

Best ceviche ever

We walked 2 blocks to the pick up point and a cab driver approached us to tell us that he would be the one to transport us. The drive was 30 minutes and it was through a remote area with a tiny, narrow road. We were a group of 4 people and felt uneasy at the beginning of the drive. However, once we arrived we were greeted by Alejandra and she was a total sweetheart. There was only 12 of us there that day and we loved it. The ceviche and tacos were delicious! Cold beer and drinks were great too! Beautiful experience.

Private beach

was very disappointed that our tour got cancelled at the last minute. and we did not get a refund and we had to go to a public beach. would have preferred a private beach with less people bothering us. would be nice to have our refund back.

Beach Cleanup Needed

I feel the beach needed some cleaning up which is why I only gave 4 stars. The attendant caring for us was very vigilant in making sure we had what we needed. He repeatedly offered us drinks and we were provided with delicious snacks and lunch. Providing comfortable lounge chairs would have also been appreciated.

We headed over shortly...

We headed over shortly after our ship docked, so for the first hour or so our group had the place to ourselves as other guests arrived later. The host was quite attentive and and made sure to keep our drinks filled and the food was all excellent. With a max of 30 people, it was nice to be away from the hustle of the port area and enjoy the quiet.

Disappointing . no beach ,smelly , buggy seaweed- gross

Very disappointing beach experience.  It is described and marketed as “one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean” which couldn’t be further from the truth.  Would not recommend if you are wanting a beautiful beach. This place may have been good years ago but not any more! The place is run down , the beach that you could sit at was tiny fit maybe 7 people at the most . The other seating available were just a few tables all other guests are packed into a very small area. The beach is packed solid with feet of seaweed which is filled with trash and bugs.  See photos.  We understand that the seaweed is natural and hard to control but the owner/operator should either be honest about it in the description or clean up the section right in front of their area for a clear space.  The photos and some other reviewers also depict buffet style lunches being available with fresh fish and chef prepared meals.  This is not the case.  There was no menu provided and the only items offered were guacamole and tacos were also mentioned.  We had to ask several times for the guac and the drinks were okay at best. There were so many other groups there with limited staff we did not get any other food offered to us other than the guacamole.  The worst part about the whole experience is when we reached out to Viator to request a partial refund based on our bad experience, we just received a canned email response denying the request.  We followed up with photos and the issue of how the beach is described versus the reality and received another email right away marked as ‘final’ denying the request again.  We thought Viator would at least try and make this right but they didn’t stand up to what they are selling. We will NEVER USE VIATOR AGAIN after this experience and we wanted other travelers to be aware of the reality of this beach experience.

AMAZING ALL INCLUSIVE!

After getting off the boat, we had a driver meet us and take us to the location! Great driver! After we arrived we were greeted with the most amazing staff. The place was beautiful and secluded and perfect for any group! All inclusive. Amazing bar and AMAZING food! The guacamole and tacos were phenomenal. The water is beautiful and so is the scenery. We definitely recommend this place and will definitely be visiting again! The staff is so so great and helped us with every single thing we needed!

Great quiet getaway from the Cruise

This is just what seven friends needed. They met us outside the port and drove us about 25 minutes to a quiet beautiful beach. There were a few people when we got there but they were just leaving. That left us with a beach all to ourselves. The food (beef tacos, chips and guacamole, and shrimp ceviche) and drinks were great and their service was wonderful. We used the kayaks and snorkeled. I would definitely go back.

Best Beach Day Ever!!

5 out 5 stars for this private beach! So, I read a lot of reviews on this one and it was very helpful. This secluded beach is off the beaten path, but totally legit! There was only my family and one other family on this beach the day we went. The sand was great and water fantastic. My daughter and I pulled up three conch shells right out of the water when snorkeling. The food was better than the cruise ship! Guacamole, shrimp ceviche, and tacos exceeded expectations. Drinks were great too! The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and overall fantastic. This was one of our favorite excursions ever!!

False advertising! Horrible place

I would give zero if I could! This place is nothing compared to the pictures that are advertised!! It was suppose to be an all day paradise beach day! Couldn’t be further from that! We could only bare to stay for 2 hours! Same with another family we meet there. So disappointed. This is my first bad review ever and we have travel for the last 20 years! Run run run

Private Beach = Private Paradise

We were welcomed to the beach by Geo’s dogs: Tiga and Carnello! They are super friendly and enjoy the belly rubs!! This beach is in a more remote area, but the water was so clear and you can take a kayak out and see the reefs before the water break. They have kayaks and full face snorkels you can use for free! The open bar was definitely a plus!! The food was delicious, we had the shrimp ceviche, guacamole, and beef tacos. Geo and Leo were very accommodating to our needs (or more like wants since we kept wanting more margaritas lol!) They do have wifi, just ask them for the password :) My family and I truly enjoyed this relaxing experience and would love to come again!! The only thing missing is having a masseuse, but given the location, I’m will to trade that amenity for the privacy.

Fun day. Very private. Brought our own fishing pole and snorkel gear. They saw us fishing and gave us raw shrimp and even cooked they Char Choy fish we caught for us.

Perfect relaxing experience

Very nice day on secluded beach with only 6 people. We were served beef tacos ! Ceviche and chips with guacamole. Only disappointed with the drinks. Only 1 kind of beer and no soda or bottled water.

What a find!

What a treat this little beach was! I have stopped at the Costa Maya port once before on a different cruise ship and I didn’t have anything planned, so I wasn’t too impressed. After finding this private beach with Viator, I was really looking forward to seeing what it was all about after reading such positive reviews. When the ship arrived at the port, we made our way out and ended up having a bit of trouble finding the pickup point after exiting, but we ultimately found who we were looking for after asking around. We entered the transport van as the only two passengers, along with the driver and a young woman who worked for Xahuayxol. The ride to the beach took about 35 minutes and it was off the beaten path, but well worth the ride. When we arrived, there was only one other family on the property, so it did feel very private. There was some seaweed on the beach as well, but this was expected and did not change our experience whatsoever. We were welcomed with a starter of guacamole and shrimp ceviche with totopos and our choice of beverage. We LOVED their margaritas de tamarindo and ended up getting 3 or 4 each – so great that food and drinks were included. After laying out in the sun for a couple of hours, we were served some tacos de arrachera. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. There were even a few friendly dogs on the property. We stayed for about 5 hours overall, as we wanted to have some extra time back at the port to look around, but we wish we could have enjoyed the beach for longer. Overall it was a great experience and one that I would repeat if I have the chance to.

Heaven

First of all I need to thank all the people who helped my friend. My friend got injured here while stepping down from the pavilion. We don't know if she missed her step or was taking in the beauty. The older gentleman was so warm and kind, his whole family were helpful. Our taxi driver went out of his way to assist us in getting a wheelchair at the port. He could of just dropped us off but he took care of us all the way thru. THANK YOU?

Beautiful beach

We loved our time at this beach.. great food, not crowded and just beautiful. It was off the beaten path but once you get there it’s paradise!

All-inclusive property offering incredible views and a hospitable staff!

Our family visited this all-inclusive property this week while visiting Costa Maya aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise. We enjoy booking non-cruise sponsored excursions, and this did NOT disappoint! After a short walk from the cruise port, we were met with private transportation. This BEAUTIFUL beachfront paradise is approximately 30 minutes from the meeting spot. We enjoyed delicious food (fresh guacamole, ceviche, and steak tacos), breathtaking views, and fun in the water. This property is perfect for those simply seeking to relax and enjoy the view or those who wish to kayak, snorkel, etc. The team was incredibly hospitable and made us feel at home! Restrooms were clean, and we have no complaints. In addition to our family of four, there was a large extended family (approximately 25+ people) visiting on the same day. While there were a lot of us on-site, it didn’t feel crowded at all. 100% recommended!

Great relaxing beach day

We had a nice relaxing time with the beach all to ourselves. We ended up with a group of 6, were picked up outside the port. Not far at all but this port (we ere with royal carribean) is quite the maze to get out of! Drive was about 25 min to the beach . We were attended to the entire time, fed delicious fresh authentic guacamole, chips, ceviche and tacos with all the toppings. When we arrived there was a bit of seaweed but shortly after it completely cleared off and we had beautiful ocean access. There is a bit of shells initially but nothing extreme or painful. Only 6 of us did this excursion the other 2/3 went with the cruises beach excursion and they hated how crowded the beaches were and invaded with persistent vendors who wouldn’t leave you alone. We were pleased to be able to truly relax and enjoy the scenery. There are kayaks available, paddle boards and snorkeling gear. We only used the kayaks and snorkel.

Relaxing private beach, awesome friendly hosts, great food and drinks.

If you are looking for a day to to get away from the crowds and relaxe on a beach with great food/service/drinks, then 5 stars. This was exactly what was needed on day 5 of our cruise. The 2 hostesses were awesome and friendly. It might not be for everyone, it is a 30min drive from the port and it's not a upscale resort, but again, for myself and travelers, EXACTLY what was needed.

Perfect Customer Service

Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions our cruise ship wasn't able to dock in Costa Maya and we missed such a wonderful opportunity. But I have to say that the tour operator was very responsive and solved our issue quick and nicely. This is what I call customer service! Thank you very much and hope to actually make it one day to this beautiful beach :)

Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Pleasantly surprised at this wonderful excursion. I would highly recommend it. From the pick up to the drop off we enjoyed every bit of it. On a Royal Caribbean cruise...My wife and I along with another couple, all thoroughly enjoyed our time on the beach and the food and beverages! My pro tip on this: Leave the port area asap in order to beat the other cruisers to the beach. Doing so, you will get first pick of tables and chairs to enjoy the beach, breeze and sun. The food exceeded our expectations and we would do it again for sure. Geo and Ally were wonderful hosts with their excellent service. Our trip was all inclusive. Bathrooms were clean and they fed us shrimp ceviche and guacamole then brought out beef tacos it was delicious. Beach was a bit rocky at the waters edge so bring your water shoes. Once you get past the rocks it is sandy and clear. We visited in a season when they was a lot of seaweed, but you could tell they cleared out the area in anticipation of us. We shared the beach with about 20 other people. But would do it again in a heartbeat!

celebrating my husbands...

celebrating my husbands birthday we went here and were the only guests. it was a bit tricky to find our guide outside of the port. the beach was just ok. the area was odd with a few abandoned looking shacks and one of the shacks is where we got drinks and food. my husband didn't like the looks of the place and was afraid to eat there. what I tried was good.

A MUST SEE - Phenomenal, Remote and Unexpected Experience

My husband and I visited this private beach during the third week of April 2024. We came into port on the Carnival Jubilee, and then decided to book this through Trip Advisor based on other reviews. We exited the port and walked a block north where there was an area which had a sign with my name. My husband and I were the only ones, so we had our own driver to the private beach and we read detailed reviews prior to booking. The drive from the port to the beach was probably 35 minutes into nowhere, but our driver drove very fast, which I appreciated. The road out there is two lane for quite a distance and you feel as if you're driving into oblivion and we were somewhat skeptical at first, but I remembered the reviews. After we exited the road, we went down a sandy, private drive, equally as remote, and our driver pulled up to a small beach pavilion to drop us off....the place is called Playa Xahuayxol and part of the Mexican Caribbean. We were greeted by the hostess, "G", as we'll call her as to not give out actual names, and we were the only ones there. The property had about eight other individual units, and she said others were there, but hadn't wondered over the main restaurant/bar area yet. My husband and I sat down on the picnic table and "G" was right there to serve us anything we wanted. As a bonus, the place had two dogs who loved being around everyone, and would make sand circles and lie down at your feet. We then wondered into the water, wading chest high, and the place was stunning and beautiful as well as remote. "G" was extremely accommodating and strived hard to make it a wonderful experience, with a very laid back vibe. After a while, we got two kayaks and paddled out to the reef to snorkel, where we enjoyed viewing the abundance of sea plants (especially bright and beautiful purple sea fans) and some fish...much more vibrant plant life than fish. When we returned, we were served more drinks and the best ceviche and guacamole we've ever had. Once we were finished for the day, the same driver came and drove us back to port. We don't like to return to places we've already been, but a return here is a must. Do not let the remoteness and distance of the adventure keep you from booking. It is extremely laid back and if you're looking for a plush, high end resort, this is not your place, and that is why we loved it. The authenticity of the culture and country was abundant and we would highly recommend it....best kept secret in the area in our opinion, and all of the people can keep their overpriced, overpacked ports.

Do This in Costa Maya

Outstanding find in Costa Maya through TripAdvisor. Beautiful private beach with all inclusive food and drinks. Taxi service to the beach is pre-arranged and waiting for you 2 blocks from the cruise port. It's a long drive (maybe 30 minutes) but the trip is well worth it. We shared the whole beach with 2 couples, escaping the crowds from 4 cruise ships in Costa Maya that day. A few details: - Beach is beautiful and the water is clear. We went without beach shoes, but it would be better to have them since there are lots of shells. You can wade in the warm water up to your chest for 20-30 yards out and that's fantastic. It's difficult to go further out because there is a shallow raised ledge (reef?) that prevents you from going further unless you are an experienced swimmer and have the right equipment. It's perfect however for those who just want to enjoy warm clear water to swim and bounce around in. - Food and drinks. All inclusive. They served chips and guacamole and a generous quantity of shrimp ceviche as a snack. It was amazingly good! Lunch consisted of both beef and chicken tacos--again very good and fresh. A wide assortment of fruity drinks were available (with or without alcohol) at no charge. - Snorkeling. The owners have kayaks and full-face snorkeling masks available. For the best snorkeling you would have to take the kayak out to the reef and be an experienced swimmer with all the right equipment (particularly fins). You cannot put your feet down on the reef. This is likely not a snorkeling place for anyone but the best swimmers. - Getting there and getting back. The pickup point was a couple blocks beyond the main port (near the roundabout) where the taxis accumulate. No specific time was provided except that they are there waiting for up to 2 hours after passengers can disembark. You can pick your return time to assure you get back in time. This was a great experience!

Interesting Experience

Giordana helped us with drinks and guacamole and chips. She also served Ceviche, but that was the extent of the food offered. I would say don't go there expecting a clean beach after a full moon, as it was about 4 to 10 feet deep with seaweed from the rough water. I enjoyed my snorkeling, and can imagine how beautiful it would have been if the sea had not been so rough that day.

I will do this again.

Very private beach location. The food and drink was excellent. Our hostess (Gia) did a wonderful job as ccok, bartender and everything we needed. The water was perfect and we snorked in pure blue water.

Paradise

The definition of paradise. I almost don’t want to write a review because I don’t want anyone to know about this place and it become another major tourist attraction. :D The staff was extremely accommodating and on top of everything. They made our time there so enjoyable! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would!

Exceptional

Amazing!!! Exactly what I was looking for in a quiet, serene atmosphere. The hostess was incredible. The drinks and food delicious. I WILL definitely be back. It’s a must!!

Incredible beauty and tranquility

There were only 20 tourists including us on this immaculate beach. We picked up shells and pieces of coral and enjoyed the gentle waves. Plenty of seating and places to lay out in the sun. The food and drinks were great and service was attentive. I didn't want to leave!

Amazing!

Such an amazing excursion, one of my best yet! Would definitely revisit this place. I can’t pronounce the girls name, but she was so sweet so attentive. The food was just top of the line delicious.. so peaceful there and they gave us our space and that is what we wanted! Can’t wait to go back again! The girl really deserves a good pay. We even tipped her big hope she still there when we go back.!

Unbelievable!

Best beach experience ever! Compared to the hectic atmosphere of cruise line beaches or over packed resorts this was BEYOND amazing! The food was incredible the staff was friendly and very attentive! I cannot say how truly amazing this beach and experience was! Pictures do do it justice, if you looking for a peaceful and secluded beach experience with transparent water, kayaks and food don’t think about it and just book this place! The dog canelo was also so sweet. Can’t wait to go back!

Away from cruise crowds!

This is a wonderful place! Amanda and staff were very attentive. The shrimp ceviche they served for lunch was delicious. Snorkel gear and kayaks! Pick up and return was great too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Best Beach Ever

Visited on March 28th, we were sailing with the Norweign Prima. Could not have been happier! I felt like Kenny Chesney was going to walk up on the beach at any minute. Total privacy. Not another establishment in sight. The host was so accommadating, good drinks, good food. They even made special lunch items for the children. Beautiful water and beach. We will be back. Perfect day at the beach

Some of the best ceviche you will have with an awesome, welcoming staff. We were on a RC cruise and wanted a day to relax away from the crowds and this hit the spot perfectly.

Fun day on private beach

We were met at the Mayan Ruin outside the port and driven to the beach. Unlimited drinks and food was given to us. The beach is small but we were able to snorkel and kayak. It was a great day for the price. The food and drinks were excellent

We just had a perfect beach day .ocean was wonderful no pesky vendors some of the best mixed drinks and food you will drink and the service was first class
