Well worth the experience!

It was my first time in Chennai, but I have to say that if you have only a day to spare in Chennai, this is experience that you should have. You can check off the boxes: 1. Start promptly on time - check! 2. Friendly, courteous guide and driver - check! 3. Well-informed, English-speaking guide - check! 4. A cautious, alert, disciplined driver - check! 5. Fascinating, historical destinations as listed on the Five Senses Tours site - check! My short informative immersion in touring the Hindu and Jain temples was terrific. I particularly enjoyed the iconic St Thomas Basilica, which was very memorable to me. Although I am not a "foodie," the lunch was great as we sampled different dishes and delicacies. I am sure the foodies will agree with me! :)

A feast for the senses

A 7 hour feast for the senses. My second day in India, first day resting at my hotel after long haul flight from Sydney. I booked late the evening before the tour with no problems. A friend also decided to join last minute, again smooth. Kannan our guide picked us up from our hotel with his driver. Kannan made our day special. Kannan was super friendly, knowledgeable, great English and passionate about his city. The car was airconditioned and comfortable. We had a wide array of experiences from hindu and Jain temples, Catholic Basilica, Anglican church, a Light House, a fort complex and to top it all off, an incredible Thali plate experience for lunch. No rushing anywhere. Time to take photos, ask questions, sit, contemplate and take it all in. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

A wonderful day in Chennai

I visited most of the interesting places in Chennai. I learned a lot about different religions of India and many fascinating culture details. I enjoyed a lunch in a typical Indian restaurant

Great tour with Haneesh

We did the tour with our guide Haneesh Ramachandran. It was a great tour and he was able to modify it based on our interests. Our guide was very candid with our questions and great at explaining things we didn't fully understand. Highly recommend the tour and our guide Haneesh.

A must-do for Chennai

The driver and the car were first-rate. Comfortable modern 4x4 Toyota. The guide Kannan was brilliant. He even had a past customer come up to him and asked him for his details for a further booking. Great feedback. I would definitely use this company again. Even the mid-morning coffee, lunch, refreshments and importantly the washroom breaks were well planned out.

A great day in Chennai.

I have seen the most important things in Chennai and learned a lot about culture and history of India. I had time to absorb the spirit of the city and an opportunity to take good pictures.

Nice tour of Chennai

Kannan was a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide who took us to several temples and historically relevant sites in Chennai. Would recommend for anyone travelling to or through Chennai, as there are several interesting places to see! Kannan took us to a nice South Indian restaurant and helped us navigate the plentiful world of South Indian gravy and spice. Lovely experience.

Amazing Chennai City Tour!

We had the best time visiting Chennai City! Our Tour Guide Hareesh was amazing!! He was super knowledgeable and tailored the trip to our interests. We learn so much and had lots of laughs. We couldn’t recommend Hareesh more, we’ll definitely be reaching out when we visit India next :)

Incredible History linking Chennai to the world!

I had the most wonderful day tour around Chennai with Jainith and a great driver, comfortable car , air-conditioning. I learnt so much history, which was fascinating Jainith had so much knowledge, not just about his city but all the international links. Lovely lunch. I got to put my foot in the Bay of Bengal. Jainith is a lovely gentleman who everyone seems to know 😉 We got to see so many extra things. For me, as I was on a 9 hr stopover, they picked me up from the Airport and dropped me back. Amazing tour

This was an amazing tour. Hareesh was so informative and very friendly. He was also very patient with all my many questions. I have a much better understanding of India’s history and religions. We also had a lovely lunch. The weather was very wet but that didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the tour at all. We weren’t able to go up the lighthouse due to the wind so Hareesh got the driver to take me a different way home to make up for it and then we stopped for masala chai. Our driver was very polite and confident on the busy roads. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Informative and surprising Chennai experience.

Our second day tour with 5 Senses covered many interesting sites in Chennai itself. We again had Kannan as our guide and Mohan as our driver. The positive experience with them both is expressed in our review of our day trip to Mamallapuram the day before. We were not rushed and Kannan provided many historical "quirks" and stories about a number of the sites that we would otherwise have been unaware and this added greatly to the experience. Again we enjoyed a delicious meal but this time he walked us through a typical Northern Indian Thali while comparing it with the Southern Indian Thali we had on the Mamallapuram tour. A thoughtful consideration. Based on both our tours with 5 Senses we would highly recommend them.

A day to remember touring Chennai!

Satish is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide in the history and places of significance in Chennai. Our tour included discussions about the regions history, religious sites, and architectural locations like lighthouse #4 on the beach. I highly recommend you take a tour of Chennai with Satish and take a deep dive into one of India’s premier cities!

Great private day tour of Chennai!

We loved our private day tour with Hareesh and learned so much. He was very accommodating with our schedule and pick up/drop off locations. Our guide answered all of our questions, shared stories and was very knowledgeable about Chennai, the people, food, culture, religions and history. We saw so much in one day, temples, monestaries, churches, a museum and saw Marina beach and fishing village from the top of a tall lighthouse the view was fantastic! Our driver was great too and did a great job navigating the busy streets.

An excellent immersive experience

A great tour. This was a very immersive cultural experience. We visited a Ramakrishna center, a Hindu temple, a Jain temple, and two Christian churches. I learned a lot about Chennai and India in general from my guide Kannan. He even taught me the proper way to eat a traditional Tamil lunch.

Wonderful Chennai experience

It was a wonderful experience! We visit tue most important places in Chennai like Vivekananda mutt, Mylapore kabaleswar temple, Sai Baba temple, Santhome church , marina beach light house etc. and much more. I can recommend the tour to everyone!

A taste of Chennai.

Fantastic day experiencing the sights, sounds and highlights of Chennai. Our guide Kannan provided a comprehensive history of each temple or point of interest we visited. A lunch stop to taste southern Indian cuisine topped off an enjoyable day.

I sincerely recommend this experience. We had the pleasure of being guided by a very professional guide who provided detailed and engaging commentary. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the guide's excellent knowledge greatly enhanced the overall experience. Amazing Tour

This tour was absolutely fantastic. We did several tours in cities across India, and this tour was by far the best. We wish that we had booked 5 Senses for all of our tours. Our guide was so knowledgeable and kind. He did a great job of managing the day and working with all of the logistics. We can’t wait to book another tour in the future!

A Memorable Chennai Experience with an Exceptional Guide and Driver

I booked this tour through a third-party company, and the communication from the start was excellent. Kannan, my guide, was punctual, arriving early at my hotel lobby and waiting patiently until I was ready. His extensive knowledge made the tour incredibly informative, and he never tired of answering all my questions. Additionally, as I was traveling solo, he went above and beyond by taking numerous photos to help me document the experience. Our driver, Satish, was courteous and friendly. The day's itinerary, including the South Indian meal, provided a truly marvelous cultural experience.

Fascinating discovery

I greatly enjoyed the Chennai Private Tour with my tour guide Kannan, who was a gold mine of knowledge and information. All the stops we did were interesting and beautiful, and left me curious for more. Every question I had was answered thoroughly, and every place and topic were addressed in detail, a testament to the passion and interest of the guide for Chennai and its history. The city itself is wonderful and well worth a visit, whether you are here for one day like me, on a longer trip, or even a pilgrimage. Kannan also gracefully offered to take pictures whenever I wanted, so I could keep lasting memories of my trip. The stop for food was just the icing on the cake, and such a delicious introduction to South Indian food. Overall, this visit opened my eyes to an interesting country of great culture, and I hope I will get to see more of it. Thank you Kannan and thank you 5 Senses tour!

Great first day in Chennai

My guide Kannan was great in presenting all sites we visited with historical or religious information. He also managed to amend the standard visit to the delay of the start from the airport. As an added value, he also helped me understanding the various taste during our lunch. And the driver was always kind in ensuring I was not opening the door in the traffic. Overall great experience, recommended if you only have one day in Chennai, but you should also do with the same agency the tour to Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram (an entire day is required for this second tour)

Chennai City in a Day!

Our private tour of Chennai city was fun and educational. We visited numerous temples, including the interesting Ramakrishna Universal Temple, with architectural elements from many religions and open to everyone, and the ornate 7th-century Hindu Kapaleeshwarar Temple to the god Shiva, where we smashed coconuts to have a wish come true and tried the local coffee. We had a great vegetarian lunch at A2B of different Thali - South Indian and North Indian cuisines so we got to sample everything. In the afternoon we visited the beautiful San Thome Basilica where the tomb of the apostle Thomas lies. We walked around the crumbling Fort St George, established by the English in 1639 and finished up at the Chennai Lighthouse for views of the city and Marina Beach. Our guide, Satish B, was an excellent source of information and attentive to our needs (it was VERY hot) and our car was well air conditioned and the driver had plenty of water so we could keep hydrated.

An amazing overview of Chennai

We had a great time on this tour; the tour guide Satish was very knowledgeable and pleasant. A particular highlight for me was Kapaleeshwarar temple; Satish explained many of the traditions and symbology deriving from the mythology. Would highly recommend this tour!

Chennai tour

Satish was a fantastic guide for a whistle stop tour of Chennai for our family of four incl our children age 11 and 13. Really knowledgeable and patient with our questions: Was flexible in terms of changing the plan as our kids were still a little jet lagged. We really appreciate how he gave up his Sunday to show us the highlights either way a great driver and car. We selected this trip based on the other Tripadvisor recommendations and pleased we did.
