Fabulous absolutely beautiful stunning phenomenal words can’t express how awesome this trip was! Andreas (sp?) was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable, professional and smelled good 😝 The wines were great (reds) I’m not a white wine drinker and the snack Dourakis took the edge off (didn’t eat breakfast, too early to meet up). The first winery loved Elvis (that’s actually his name), he was personable, funny and knowledgeable of the olive oil and wines. Bought a bottle of wine and olive oil from the first winery and two bottles of wine from Dourakis. The Olive Oil Factory was very informative and the honey was delish and the olives were good (not an olive eater) but these were good a little salty but good.. Definitely recommend to do indulge in this adventure!

Must see/do! Andreas is as the absolute BEST guide not to mention he’s sommelier so he knows his wine! Every stop was Amazing!

Save the wine and Oil

Andreas picked us up in a black air conditioner mini bus there were 3 other guests, however it holds more passengers. We first were taken to what is believed as the oldest olive tree in Crete.This was followed by our first olive tour and wine tasting with snacks, and was informed of the processes. We then went onto our last wine tour where we further tested wine with snacks. Our preferably snacks was the first venue. At both establishments you have an opportunity to buy products. Lovely day and our guide was truly amazing.

Best Tour EVER

The guide was a sommelier with a crazy amount of experience and made the wine tasting so fun and special! He is very personable and easy to listen to and get along with. We learned so much about the history of olive oil making and were practically olive oil and wine snobs by the end!! ;) Would recommend to anyone who wants to have a good day of good eats and great drinks.

Our guide Andreas was awesome we had a great time. His knowledge of the area and conversations were very entertaining and engaging.

So much Greek Wine, So Little Time

Defintely time well spent. We met people that took a similar tour from our cruise ship and they did not have as good an experience as we did.

Wine, olive oil and old olive tree - Crete

Learning about production of olive oil and wine was very interesting, and the presentations and tastings were great! Enjoyed the small group and the enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide/driver.

Incredible

I did this experience as a solo traveler, and it was absolutely incredible! I definitely recommend eating ahead of time because you will be trying 10 tasting wines. Super easy to get picked up for the tour too so you don’t have to worry about transportation! I HIGHLY recommend this experience for everybody!!!

Lots of fun, very informative, interesting presentation , good host and friendly vineyard employees. Great olive oil and wine at 1st winery , and very good wine and atmosphere at 2nd one.

Olive oil and wine

The olive oil and wine tasting at Anoskeli was my favorite part of the tour. Who knew making olive oil was such a process. It was also super neat to see the world's oldest olive tree. Andreas was a very knowledgeable tour guide.

A beautiful way to see Chania

Seeing an ancient Olive tree believed to be 3000-5000 years old was pretty incredible! Visited 2 local wineries and had a short tour through the Olive Oil plant. Very educational, and our guide was great. Andre’s was friendly, very well spoken with a keen knowledge of the area and our wines. We were happy to hear that he’s a sommelier and a local to Chania.

Eat Before

Great experience but not as much food or wine as expected. Would have been a lot better if there was a bit more food tasting as advertised.

2 Couples

This tour was a last-minute booking as our cruise itinerary changed at the last minute. We had a private tour with Thanassi, who obviously loves his island and anxious to share information about Crete and Greece. Very relaxing day.

Wonderful time!

Our driver was so sweet and knowledgeble about everywhere we went and the island in general! We had so much fun and had a great time with our group.

Highlight of my trip!

The olive oil and wine tasting tour was a great way to delve deeper into Cretan culture and connect with their roots. My guide, Thenasi, was knowledgeable, kind, and very accommodating. I would HIGHLY recommend taking the tour with him!! My favorite part was seeing one of the oldest olive trees in the world. Thanks for a great time!

Great Tour

What a great tour! We chose the tour on a windy day in Chania and were so glad we did! It was excellent. Andreas was so knowledgeable about the area and the wine and he answered all questions we had. The group was small enough that it felt personal and the wineries we visited were absolutely brilliant! We loved the stop off at the oldest olive tree too. Great way to spend a day of our holiday!

A great day in Crete

The winery’s were beautiful and I learned a lot about olive oil production. Our tour guide Andreas was amazing and was very knowledgeable about wines and Crete history. This tour was a great way to spend the day!

Relaxing excursion

This was such a nice relaxing tour. Very simple and easy day! We were picked up at our hotel, it happened to be one of the pickup locations luckily. We drove to two different wineries but also made some stops along the way for cool lookout spots and even a 3,000 year old olive tree.

The tour was great. Two different wineries and olive oil producer. Very good explanations of what they do at each and great samples. Really enjoyed it.

Wonderful Opportunity to See the Countryside

Wonderful excursion to see the beautiful lush green countryside outside of Chania. We visited 2 wineries, an olive oil factory & saw the oldest olive oil tree in the world. I helped coordinate a group of 16 with port pick-up (we arrived via a cruise ship) and the driver, Andreas, picked us up early. We did pick up 3 other people so our van was quite full. It was never clearly communicated how many people I needed to keep our group fully private, which would have been preferred. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant day. Andreas even went above & beyond by meeting us downtown after realizing we left our olive oil onboard the van after we were dropped off. Super sweet! Highly recommend the company & tour!

Beautiful countryside and fantastic food and wine. Very interesting tour and our guide/driver was excellent.

Great tour!

What a great day! Andreas was an excellent guide. Pickup was only minutes from our hotel. You'll learn all about the proud traditions of Crete, and Chania in particular, visit the ancient olive tree of Vouves, and learn all about the process of making olive oil, as well as its MANY uses. A beautiful lunch (get ready to share with the cats!) and plenty of delicious wine. Highly recommend!

A real taste of Crete

A very informative, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide who is obviously very proud of Cretan produced wine and oil. The tour of the olive mill was great and very interesting. The second winery visit felt a little rushed but enjoyable and they catered for my gluten free diet easily. When a vegan meal was given to my partner they were very quick to offer and bring the cheese pie when he said he is vegetarian. Having been on larger coach trips having a smaller group of people felt more friendly and personal. A great trip.

Excellent

It was a wonderful day out. Our tour driver was so great. Good at driving no 1 👍entertaining and funny and very informative of olives , olive oil and wine, history and genuinely enjoying himself with us and proud of his homeland Crete. He said by the end of it we would all be singing and then falling asleep and he was right. We were a mixed group of honeymooners, a family from the USA 🇺🇸 and me the only aussie. Andreas, our tour guide, was outstanding. He's a wine somm and a driver and an entertainer -- all in one! The olive and wine venues were fabulous! And it's great sharing the experience with so many cool people from so many places around the world!

Great tours with a very experienced and nice guide, definitely worth the money for the admissions and taxi alone! Our guide was a local and gave us lots of different insights into the olive oil and mainly the wine in the area, 5/5 would recommend to anyone!

A spectacular way to spend the day!

Perfect Cretan wine & Oil introduction

Perfect wine tour for those who want to taste 9 different bottle of Cretan wines and olive oils. You start out the tour learning about how olive oil is made and you get to try a wide variety of wines. The tour brought you up to the mountains where the tour guide grew up and has a family olive farm there. The views were amazing and the people we met on the tour and the Cretan people was totally worth the time and money!

Great Wines!

My wife and I had a great time trying different olive oils and wines of Crete! We loved the experience at the first winery. We had delicious food and wine and were able to sip at our own pace. The second winery had fantastic wines and food, however the staff at that winery rushed us to drink faster so that they could pour us another tasting. We wish we would have been able enjoy the wines at our own pace. At the end we weren’t entirely sure what wines we had sampled. Overall we were pleased with the wine and our guide, but wished the second winery had a more enjoyable experience.

Amazing tour!

The wine and olive oil tour was amazing from start to finish! Pick up / drop off was really easy from the hotel, Andreas was very welcoming, knowledgeable guide and all of the food and wine was delicious. 100% recommend!

Crete olive oil and winery tour - recommended

Andreas was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. It would be nice if the olive oil and winery tours included a brief tour of the production facilities instead of showing a pre-recorded video. The wines and snacks were very good.

Excellent transfer and private tour service

Utilized transfer as well as day tour services (Crete Cheese, Wine, Olive Oil, and Food Tour; Elfonesi Beach and Area Tour) of this company during our trip to Heraklion and Chania. Drivers were prompt, courteous, helpful, safe and full of knowledge about local history, geography and culture. Truly enjoyed getting to know Kostas and Dr. Babis! Fine gentlemen, both, and by the time our tours ended, they had become friends! Vehicles used were clean and safe. Both gentlemen took excellent care of us; allowed us to fully explore Heraklion, Chania and surroundings. We fell in love with Crete and are already making plans to return! Kudos to GS Tours/Fabulous Crete for employing such fine people! Thank you!

Fantastic guide, wine, scenery and company!

Starting with excellent timing on pickup, we were met by our amazing tour guide Andreas (5 more stars for this guy) and hopped into the airconditioned bus/van, great to cool off at 40 degrees. Picked up the others and ended up with 12 people on the trip. Great amount. Our first stop was a quick tour of the small olive oil factory and a wine tasting led by knowledgeable andreas. Great background and great wines. We bought a couple! Then set off to the olive tree, which was located beautifully and despite the heat was great to quickly visit. Driving to our third destination we got another wine tasting and had some more casual chatter amongst ourselves. A fantastic time that is definitely worth it!

Wine tours to remember

Awesome day, great history throughout the van rides to locations along with beautiful views. Both wineries were gorgeous with excellent wines and the olive oil element was also great. Highly recommend.
