As an elderly couple (84/77) just what we hoped for. A leisurely and friendly tour of Cardiff city centre where Maggie showed us some of the arcades, main buildings and markets with added personal anecdotes.

An absolutely amazing experience and my first time doing something like this. Our local friend Tony was the best guide and certainly catered to our requirements. Something so personalized and tailor made was extremely great! He took extra time and showed us things and places that you would not find on a regular tour. He truly cared for us and gave several useful suggestions on how to spend the remaining days of our UK trip. I fell in love with the city thanks to this experience!

Great and easy overview of sights, culture, and history in Cardiff

Tony was very knowledgeable about history, culture, language, and everything related to Wales and Cardiff. Easy to talk to and he was ready with plenty of suggestions for what to do with our time in Cardiff and elsewhere in Wales. Took lots of pictures and was easy to communicate with by text. Very expensive, waste of time

Darren certainly knew his way around, but for a local, he knew very little about Cardiff's history. He was unable to respond to basic questions about the history of Cardiff and its primary landmarks. He also basically ignored our three children, ages 12, 10, and 5. We specifically requested a family-friendly experience, but I felt like he was paying attention mostly to me. We feel like we need to return to Cardiff just to get another chance to get to know the city. We fell in love with this city, no thanks to this tour.

Well Worth spending 1/2 a day there

This was well worth doing, this World 2 tunnels and the Keep were amazing, I loved the history, the grounds were amazing,

Great people, lacking tour

Maggie was such a kind and friendly guide! We really appreciated getting to know her! That being said, I think a bit more effort could have gone into planning the tour. It felt a bit haphazard, and we primarily visited sites we easily could have navigated ourselves.

Best way to see Cardiff in two hours!

My guide Tony Lloyd was very knowledgeable and well-versed in the history and lore of Wales and Cardiff. Tony is very well-traveled and is something of a local celebrity himself. I had only two hours in the late afternoon, so not the ideal time for a tour. But Tony did the nest he could, taking us through the city centre and main sights while sharing his insights into Welsh language and history. I would highly recommend Tony (who has his own website called Difflomats) to anybody who wants to get an in-depth feel of Cardiff and the surroundings.

A wealth of knowledge of Cardiff and Wales received and understood in a short time

Knowledge and history from a highly qualified and caring teacher. Hopefully I can experience another tour from him while I am in Cardiff or later in life.

A very disappointing experience

The tour guide struggled to communicate due to her spoken English level. She was constantly struggling to find the words to explain something, but that's not the main problem. She seemed unprepared to give this tour and had very shallow knowledge of the city and its culture. The level of information she gave is equal to what you would get from the first 2 sentences of a Wikipedia article on the subject, and due to her poor English, we have to check Wikipedia constantly or read the information board of the historic buildings during the tour in order to understand anything she was talking about, if you'd like a clearer idea of what her presentation style felt like. Imagine an unprepared highschool student in a foreign language class struggling to find the right words while doing a presentation that he crammed for the night before school. She could not answer basic questions regarding the history of buildings and places in Cardiff that she included in the tour by herself. She said it's because she's rusty but I cannot believe that someone could forget so much of the history of a city and it does not feel right for us to be her training wheels when we paid so much money. If you are considering paying for this service, save your money and just walk around the city by yourself while looking things up on your phone. That is exactly what we did after our tour in order to get an idea about Cardiff's history.

Storm Dennis has nothing on Tony!!

We went on the tour Sunday, February 16, 2020. It was during Storm Dennis, wouldn’t you know it. Tony arrived on time, with his car and umbrellas!! It is a walking tour, but with the down pour of the storm, he brought his car to lessen the impact. We had a fantastic time!! Despite the rain and wind, we walked around the city, and the bay, learning about the history of Cardiff and seeing notable architecture and museums. He went above and beyond our expectations. We had tea and light refreshments and he took a lot of pictures of us. Very personable. He absolutely loves his city and it shows. Please ask for Tony, you won’t regret it.

Walk, listen, and enjoy...Gillian was spectacular.

Gillian was a genuine dream! Right on time, well prepared, extremely friendly. My wife and I could not be any more pleased ‼️ We heard all the little background stores and history of the area, and the makings of Cardiff. We had s pleasant walk, not hurried, and allowing for questions, and recommendations for things we did not have time to do on this tour, as well as restaurants not to miss. One of the best highlights was having afternoon high tea on the castle grounds. Too much to enjoy, and happy to have leftovers for our evening enjoyments.

Local insights customized on the fly

Our guide was a total delight and gave us insights that only a local would know. The fact that he spoke Welsh let us into places guarded by surly ladies that he could charm. He was also very responsive to on-the-fly requests to see areas that might not have been part of a standardized tour. Highly recommended!

Our guide made this an unforgettable tour!

My husband and I had the pleasure of booking a tour with Lokafy and were lucky enough to get Tony. We spent a delightful 2+ hours touring downtown Cardiff, including several "secret" spots, unknown to many of the locals. He even included quite a few "Dr. Who" locales, which pleased my husband immensely and hadn't been on our itinerary. Tony was a wealth of information and a delightful host! We are sold on locals guiding tours!

Gillian was fantastic. You could tell she loved her city and country very much. She was very knowledgeable about the history past and present for the area. She know the back ways and places to visit. She had our time with her planned out as to not waste one minute. When we went into the markets she bought us a "welsh cake" to try which as delicious and very kind of her. She took us to a fun little shop where they make hand carved "Welch love spoons". We purchased on for us and our soon to be married daughter. They will engrave for free there, so it was a great suggestion for a souvenir. I highly recommend this tour and Gillian.
