This private tour with our guide Frank was an amazing experience. If you appreciate supporting local community, going at your own pace and getting the history of the Mayan people and this region not found in books this is the tour for you. Yaxunah is stewarded by a community cooperative and they join the tour sharing their experiences. We got an extra treat being serenaded by our guide there in Mayan with an original song he wrote. Our driver Jose was attentive and both him and Frank matched our pace. I’ve been to Yucatán and Chichen Itza a few times and this has been my favorite tour.

Horrible horrible place!! The tour guide was super racist towards me because I’m of East Asian descent ( Indian) and he kept on asking me uncomfortable questions. He then promised me a free Mayan calendar but when I got it… $30!!! FOR A CALENDAR?! MAN HE DOESN’T DESERVE 5 STARS HE DESERVES TO GET FIRED FROM THIS JOB ON THE WAY BACK HE ASKED ME TO GIVE HIM A 5 STAR REVIEW AND IM LIKE NO MAN I HOPE THIS GUY DOSEN’T OBTAIN THIS JOB EVER AGAIN!!

Perfect Mayan tour

Our guide Daniel was very knowledgeable and professional. He gave us a perfect personalized tour. Our driver Roberto was safe and efficient.

This agency Amigo needs improvements. The website mentioned all the prices in US Dollars. However, when you are boarding the bus they asked to pay in pesos only or by credit card. The website did not mention that you need to pay a separate tax. I was carrying cash in dollars only. I make arrangements with some people on my tour to pay double to them if they pay my entrance in pesos. The website tries to attract us by luring the USA people. Glad that I am fluent in Spanish and I can do this tranzas as Mexican said when you do special arrangements. Please improved your website by adding that people need to pay extra fees for entrance and those fees MUST BE DONE IN PESOS. THEY EXCHANGE RATE PLACES DO NOT CHANGE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR PASSPORT ONLY WITH PASSPORT. I DID NOT WANT TO BE CARRY MY PASSPORT IN THIS TRIP. SO I HAVE A LOT STREES trying to ge my tickes. Thank to Spanish languages I did my arrangement. I am glad that speak 5 languagues.

Mayan

The tour guy was very fun and entertaining. He explain all the Mayan history in detail with a lot of enthusiasm. For-sure we will recommend this tour agency to our friends and family. Best time ever thank you so much for your service and for keeping us safe.

Very fun and informative

This tour was SO amazing! Our tour guide, Beto, was so funny, informative, passionate about Myan history, and easy to understand. He was entertaining and kept my attention! Getting to Chichen Itza early is definitely the best way to see the site and we had lots of time to take pics and look around ourselves too. The buffet and cenote were a lot of fun. Very tasty food and very helpful staff! I'd highly reccomend this tour. Pick up and drop off at the hotel made it super easy and stress free.

This excursion is a must if you are visiting Cancún! Traveling is comfortable, the buffet is delicious and authentic, and our tour guide Beto did an amazing job describing the history of Chichén Itzá and the Mayan people. Be prepared for the large number of vendors that line the walkways with their beautiful wares for you to purchase.

Alberto (Beto) was our tour guide and he was fantastic! Very funny and friendly. He made the tour a wonderful experience. I’m so glad we took the time to go on this tour and learn about Mayan culture and history. Would highly recommend.

10/10 - Worth the Early Morning!

Oh my goodness, words cannot express how much I loved this your. Yes, I had to wake up super early but man, was it worth it! Comfortable transportation, THE BEST tour guide I've ever had (and I've had a few, so shout-out to Beto), amazing history lesson, plenty of photo opportunities, and an amazing meal! Truly the greatest day.

Great tour but too short.

The entire trip was great but we would have liked to have more time in Cenote and to eat. We felt rushed and didn’t feel like we enjoyed it as much had we had an extra hour at Cenote.

Great tour

First and foremost: Beto and Mauricio were a great tour team and very friendly throughout, we had a great time with them. Beto told us nice historical stories to make the drive go by faster, he was informative and funny and would take the time to answer all our questions despite the little time available. Leaving early was worth the struggle, since most people managed to sleep in the bus and Chichen Itza started getting extremely full by the time we left. Seeing Yaxunah and the Cenote was a great addition too - there we had more freedom and it was not crowded, plus we could walk inside the Maya ruins. There were a couple negatives (we had only little time to wander around after the explanations, the buffet wasn't great, pushing souvenirs) but it was all compensated by Beto's exceptional real time astronomical depiction of the maya observations of Venus, hence the 5 stars. Also, it was still a very long tour so i cannot complain about having little time. Totally recommend! R&M

Amazing history, fun trip with our guide Beto

Had a great time on this excursion! Great communication from the company prior to the date. Beto (our guide) was funny and informative and taught us a lot about the Mayan culture, he was very passionate and knowledgeable about the archeology, language, and history. We had a good amount of time at each place. The cenote was incredible. Overall money well spent.

Our tour to Chichen Itza was very fun and informative. The tour guide, Carmen, was very knowledgeable, patient, and had us laughing the entire day. Gustavo was an excellent driver who also made us laugh. I would recommend this excursion, but just be aware that it is a long day.

Best chichen itza tour

First tour in Cancun and I have to say it will not let you down. I read a ton of reviews before choosing a tour and I think I made the best decision . Budget friendly tour with a great bus driver and a very knowledgeable tour guide named Daniel (make sure you get him) pickup is on time and we made it to chichen itza early in the morning, you spend about two hours there and then you head off to yaxunah you spend about 45 minutes there,then you go to a restaurant with a buffet food was great,and it was included in the tour. Then last stop you go to the cenote which made the tour even better then it all ready was. Overall great experience,and budget friendly( you definitely get your moneys worth out of the tour)

Perfect day trip from cancun to experience mayan culture

Highly recommend this tour. Daniel was amazing guide and explained the mayan numerology and history during the tour. Overall bus ride was also very comfortable. It takes about 3-4 hr to reach chichen itza. I would highly recommend to take early morning tour as it starts getting crowded as the day passes. Amigo tour has some specially organized 1 hr experience for one other pyramid to encourage the tourism and give more knowledge of other mayan culture ruins. Lunch was really good and tequila tasting was also amazing. Overall a really good experience and knowledge gain from Daniel. Our driver jorge was also very calm.

AMAZING ALL INCLUSIVE TOUR!

This was such and AMAZING tour. Daniel was VERY informative on the history of Chichen Itza and answered all of our questions. Our driver Jorge was also great. The tour is long so be sure to pack snacks for breakfast, sun screen, water bottles, and bug spray. My favorite part of the trip was tequila tasting and the Cenote but I honestly enjoyed the entire day Overall this was a 5 star trip and an experience of a lifetime!

Amazing Amigos!

What a great trip and would highly recommend booking with Amigo Tours. The company communicated with us, making sure we were aware of what to expect and the extras to pay for. I must say for non Spanish speakers the payment for tax seemed a little complicated. The tour itself starts with a prompt EARLY pick up, but do not let that put you off as it is definitely in your interest during the excursion. We met with our Driver Jo and Guide for the day the wonderful, knowledgeable Daniel - real 🌟 and a credit to the company for sure. He was attentive, and his art of storytelling immersed you fully into the Mayan history. The visit to Chichen Itza was mind-blowing and made all the more real by Daniels skills as a guide. Alice touch from Amigo Tours to be reinvesting into the community and preservation of the site at Yaxunah. For us the buffet lunch was a disappointment due to allergies, it was fortunate the rest of the tour was 110% brilliant to make up for this and the tax thing. The day was finished off with an outstanding visit to a Cenote for a swim and Tequila tasting. A long day but we'll worth the 4am start for sure! 😃

Fantastic tour of Chichen Itza and cenote swim! Highly recommend

We took the tour with Joe and Daniel who made a fantastic team as tour guides. Daniel is a very entertaining story teller and you can hear his passion for Chichen Itza and Mayan history in his voice. Joe was an excellent driver who is very accomodating and made sure nobody on the tour was left behind. The whole tour was great but the swim in Selva Maya cenote and the tequila tasting were particular highlights for me. Would absolutely recommend and if you get Daniel/Joe as your tour guides, you’re in for a treat!

Don't think twice, book the early tour!

[Miguel] the DRIVER can swing that bus! We had an 8ppl group one who had gotten motion sickness on another tour & he was fine thanks to the skill of Miguel's driving. Also LOVE the only #1 in the bathroom rule. Our belongings were kept well throughout the tour & the options of lockers at the Cenote were so useful. Take a change of light clothes if you plan to swim. Life jackets REQUIRED/ provided for ALL who do. [Rodrigo/CAT] Guide, ANTHROPOLOGIST & 1/2 Maya: Our group admired his passion! This was a tour that surprised us AT EVERY TURN! My mother recommended swimming in cenotes as our group landed, so the tour seemed like a perfect fit for my vote & it was what MADE our trip. × Don't think twice! Book the early visit! Go to bed early. Skip your coffee take a light snack, plenty of eco friendly sunblock. Plan your trip around this tour! Especially if you love historical relevance, spiritualism & astronomy. I'd do this tour every chance I could just go see it grow & benefit the Maya. We were only the second group taken to a second pyramid. There we met MAYA village guides after Chichén Itzá & before the Cenote. Those guides were AMAZING! They were ready to share their culture for it's TRUTH. I'll never forget them for their ability to keep their culture alive & thriving! I finally understand so many vital parts of my culture. I had NEVER heard so much to help me understand my indigenous heritage. I've been so excited to share my knowledge with my family & was texting my grandmother throughout the tour. Rodrigo was even kind enough to text her proper spelling so she could dive into researching her questions. I hope I can bring her back to see these amazing people. Unfortunately one of my Mayan Calendars got the dates mixed up & I wasn't able to catch it until we had already left the tour. I'm hopeful to return to redo it as I'm unlikely able to get it done unless in person.

Perfect Chichen Itza Tour!

I booked a private tour, which I Highly recommend especially if you are going with a group. We had a group of eight and travelled comfortably in an air conditioned van which picked up and dropped off from the lobby of our hotel which shaved off a considerable amount of time from the beginning and end of the tour since you don’t have to stop to pick up other people at other hotels. Our tour guide Daniel and driver Louis was friendly and wonderful to spend the day with. Daniel was super knowledgeable about Mayan history and obviously the “rock star” among tour guides as they all greeted him enthusiastically throughout the day. He made the day educational and FUN! Lunch was delicious and Delores is a great hostess. The second ruin visit was a highlight of the tour and the Cenote swim at the end was the perfect way to finish the trip.

Great tour!

We bought the VIP tour with hotel pick up and drop off and it was great! The tour guide (Daniel) was extremely knowledgeable and the driver (Ifrain) got us every where on time and drove smoothly. The best parts of the tour by far are Chichen Itza and the Cenote. The reason why I am putting 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that there are other parts of the tour that are not nearly as interesting, like the smaller ruins and the souvenirs shop. Since you spend so much time at the smaller ruin and the souvenirs shop, you only get 1 hour at the cenote in this 12 hour tour. Personally I would have preferred to skip the souvenirs shop and have more time at the cenote. The souvenirs shop is nice, but the products are at US or UK prices. There is a tequila tasting at the cenote, which is nice but it eats into your time at the cenote. It would be a lot better if they could combine the tequila tasting with the lunch service so you get more time in the water. Overall though I highly recommend the tour and I had a great time!

Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza was definitely a highlight of our Cancun vacation. There were about 20 of us in the tour group, and we had ample time at each location/activity. The tequila tasting was some of the best tequila I've ever had, and you can't find it in the US. Chichen Itza is a beautiful experience, and I'm glad we got to see this wonder in person. Our guide gave us much history of the ruins, and I learned so much. The cenote was beautiful. My only regret is that I didn't go swimming in it. If you are on the fence about whether or not you want to swim there, absolutely go swimming! It's so picturesque. This tour make for a long day so some tips I have- *wear comfortable shoes, there is lots of walking. I wore sports sandals. * Eat breakfast before you go or pack snacks or a boxed lunch from your resort on the way there.. *Lunch is included, but drinks are not, so bring cash for drinks (We paid in USD.) *towels are not included in the cenotes swim, so bring some with you. They have locker rooms there for you to change, if you don't want to wear your swimsuit under your clothes. There is also a charge for the mandatory life vests. *bring water, bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, and a phone battery pack with you. Most of all, enjoy yourself on this tour!

Highly recommend! Daniel and Efrain are a great team.

We had so much fun on the tour lead by Daniel! He was extremely knowledgeable and obviously passionate about the rich history he shared about Mayan culture. The two hour long drive from our hotel zoomed by as he spoke, it was amazing to have such a comprehensive background on Chichen Itza prior to arriving. He also has a great sense of humor and kept us laughing all day. The second archeological site we visited after Chichen Itza was astounding. It was a once in a lifetime experience to be given a tour by one of the Mayan laborers who helped the archeologists excavate and restore the cites, as Daniel translated. Then, we went to Real Maya for a delicious, refreshing buffet. At the same place, there was an amazing store filled with handcrafted goods from the locals. A portion of the sales goes toward creating Mayan books for the schoolchildren, to continue the education and literacy about the culture. The cenote was the final stop! Soooo beautiful. It was amazing to swim in crystal clear water and admire the waterfall. Finally - our bus driver, Efrain, was a skilled, smooth driver. The bus was spotless and super comfortable. Thank you soooo much!

Great day trip to Chichén Itzá

Really enjoyed my experience! The tour starts quite early, as Chichén Itzá is 2-2,5 hours away from Cancun, however we arrived even before opening hours and we're one of the first groups to get in. Was lucky with the weather too - it was cloudy and not very hot, but otherwise do not forget to take water/hat with you. The place is very well preserved, was interesting to learn more about its history. We also visited less known Yaxunah ruins and were the only group there. The place is still in progress of being discovered, most of the buildings are still covered by trees/vegetation. However it is allowed to come close and climb the ruins, so we got a chance to take a closer look. Lunch included in the tour was ok, the drinks are not included, so better bring some extra cash (both USD and pesos are accepted). There is also opportunity to get some souvenirs if needed. The tour ended in the cenote Saamal - very nice location, refreshing and not too crowded at the time. We also had tequila tasting at the same location. Bug thanks to the guide Daniel and driver Efrain! Very good option for a day trip while in Cancún.

A great choice!

I loved learning about the history and culture! Our guide Daniel is funny and knowledgeable - I would take a history class from him! Going early was worth it and highly recommend because it gets super crowded and hot quickly. I also went by myself and still had a nice time chatting with the other folks. Our group was around 30 ish people so that was nice. Food wasn’t bad. Everything was seamless and not difficult. The driver was also very sweet!

My favorite part was swimming in the cenote and the visit at chichen itza! The guide was very esplicative and funny!

Good, but food has to improve

Daniel (Tour guy) and Manuel (Driver), both are great at what they do. I really enjoyed the tour and their professionalism. On the downside, the restaurant Real Mayab, offers a rather poor, low qualify buffet. The restaurant is a bit neglected and the food lacks of flavour. Plus, drinks are not included (not even soft drinks), which is a bit misleading of an “all inclusive buffet” advertisement. I would recommend Daniel as a Tour guy, but not the tour itself due to the food.

Exceptional guide

Our guide Daniel was exceptional, very knowledgeable, pleasant and kind. It was very obvious he is really passionate about the history and culture of the place, and that made our trip very enjoyable as he helped us understand and learn more about Mayas. I would highly recommend!

Great day, great excursion!

We really enjoyed the tour, Daniel the guide was great, he had a lot of information and Hector got us to and from each place safely. We did the early bird and even though it was an early morning(4:40) pickup it was directly at our hotel which was great. Going early saved us on the insane crowds at the ruins. The cenote was absolutely amazing!

I only like chicken itza 7th wonder of the world, any other not interested to me, guide would not take USA $31 or Mexican pesos cash for chicken itza tax, he only want us to pay by credit card,disappointed, and guide did not give us enough time to take pictures or buy sovereign or go to washroom at chichen itza

Great tour to learn more about the Mayans culture and visit small part of Yucatán. In the evening, you feel very lucky that you started the day early. Marco, the tour operator is very knowledgeable and he’s extraordinary and sharing, coordinating and facilitating the tour. A really good day from beginning to the end.

Rodrigo was fantastic! Probably the best tour guides I’ve ever had. Highly knowledgeable about history and culture of the Mayan people and was very engaging with the group the entire day. Would highly recommend booking this trip and experiencing Mexico away from the resorts. Would also suggest the early start time. While tough to wake up at 4am, getting to chichen itza before the swarms of people was a well worth it. It was almost like a private tour with our group.

Wonderful and Authentic Mayan Experience

The tour took us to Chichen Itza early so there was no crowd, and our tourguide, Rodrigo, was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He is half Mayan and made sure we had an authentic Mayan experience. We learned a lot on this tour about the ancient Mayan culture and people. Additionally, we went to another newly opened archeological site for the royals called Yaxuna. The rest of the tour consisted of an authentic Mayan lunch, visit to Cenote Zahamal, and a tequila tasting which were also great experiences.Thank you to Rodrigo and Miguel for a great day!

Rodrigo and Chichen Itza are amazing!

This tour was amazing!! I highly recommend Rodrigo and Eric. Rodrigo is Mayan and grew up in Chichen Itza. He has stories and facts that are truly make the experience the best. Yaxunah and the and the Mayan buffet were equally as good. Topped off with. Cenotes and Tequila tasting. The Mayan Shaman blessing made it the full experience. And for those concerned, safety was never an issue.

Ancient Mayan ruins you don’t want to miss.

Marco our guide was fantastic from start to finish. He gave us his experience and knowledge of all the years of going to Chichen Itza. All though it was a very early morning it was definitely worth it. We were in Chichen Itza about 12 years ago and it is still astonishing, but I really wanted to see Yaxunah. Yaxunah is older and maybe not as grandiose as Chichen Itza, but still worth the time. Especially since it is being reclaimed/revealed and managed by local people. So far they have reclaimed/revealed about 20 structures with a total of about 80 structures in this ancient city. With only about 20 of us on the tour and the only group in the entire ancient city, was a pleasure compared to Chichen Itza. There wasn’t anyone there pushing their so called made by locals there. If you love ancient Mayan ruins this is a must for you to go.
